Play Store - Freezing on installs - 88% - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

This seems to be a constant problem. I have fought it on and off over 2 different phones. Very frustrating.
I found one thread where someone said disabling the themes on Google and Play Store fixed the problem for them. My themes are not set. They are set to default. I don't see a way to 'disable' them.
Does anyone know of a fix?

Are you signed into Google Chrome ? Sign out and Disable Google Chrome, then try! if not try this (see below) i copied and pasted of the Google Support forum!
1) clear cache on Google Play SERVICES
2) clear cache and storage on Google Play STORE
3) force stop the play store
4) re-launch the play store, update the stuck app (Chrome for me) and it should complete.

It seems to have cleared up for the moment. I have had it last and last.
I'm going to keep track of this thread, and when it happens again, I'll give that a try.
Thanks for the response...

Google Play services not supported?

I'm getting the error message, "Google Play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device." Google Now says, "To continue using Google Now, you need Google Play services, which is not supported by your device. Please contact the manufacturer for assistance." WTF? I tried clearing the app's data and rebooting, but no dice. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No go. Any suggestions?
It was working fine before. I don't know what I did to break it, but it's frustrating. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, wiping dalvik & cache, and fixing permissions. No go. Any ideas?
Please, someone help me with this.

I have the same issue. Now previously worked, now doesn't.
Is it possible that this is related to the device ID? I have flashed several different ROMs lately and back to may daily driver. I don't recall if I maintained or changed the device ID.

I don't know, but I flashed another ROM, HyperDroid AOXP, to be exact, and haven't had any problems since.
Hey man I just got this tonight and fixed it. I can't say exactly what fixed it but what I did was unfreeze ALL my apps from titanium backup, clear the data from google play in applications manager and uninstalled the update. After resetting my phone and freaking out for about 5 minutes, my phone connected to google play and reinstalled google play services and worked again. So I may have done more than I needed to but it worked
I had the same message as the OP, and Google Keep was having issues due to not having Google Play services working. I tried to clear the data from google play services and google play in applications manager ... but I didn't have the option to clear data from Google Play services, and I didn't have Google Play at all listed there ... and that's how I found that my Play Store was gone altogether! So I just found a Google Play store apk online and sideloaded it, and I'm working again since then.

[Q] [Google Edition][4.3] Phone not showing up in Play Store My Devices

I converted my HTC One from stock to the Google Edition 4.3, completely (CID, firmware, ROM). Everything on the phone works fine including the Play Store 4.3.10 and the Google services framework.
However in the My Devices section of the Play Store on the web my phone does not show up - just the previous installed one, which has not been seen online for a week or so.
The curious thing is: when going to the Android Device Manager the phone shows up correctly (the old one, and the new install).
I tried the following to resolve this:
Clear data of Google Play, Google Service Framework and Download management
Change my Android ID
Downgrade the Play Store and framework
Change the kernel from default to faux123
Remove and re-add my Google account
Try with different Google accounts
If someone has more suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Being able to see my device in the Play Store in my browser enables me to push apps to the phone. Additionally, I can join communities in Google+ to enable beta channels of some apps.
Hi @sanderg !!
How did you solve this?
I am exactly in the same issue
Regards!

I believe these steps should fix the issue:
- Go to Apps, All and Force stop and delete cache of Google Play, Downloads and Google Services Framework
- Delete your Google account, reboot your phone, add it again
- Open the Play Store
- Reboot again
Note that clearing data of the Google Services Framework is normally not recommended but in this case it's already broken so you have to fix it.

Some initial issues - play store not updating apps etc

What's with the mandatory 128MB update when you first boot the phone?
This thing runs HOT - 15 minutes and the back top of the phone is way warmer than my N4. Can't wait for devs to get kernel control apps going.......
GPS lock is FAAASSST. That was one of things I cared about. Much quicker than the N4.
LTE speed/signal seems low for where I am - map says I should be getting full connection (Denver area). But it works!
Volume is PITYFUL even at full! Hoping some FauxSound magic on this in the future.
Play Store Update Issues:
I have about 9 play store updates (Youtube, Google Earth, Twitter, TrustGo Antivirus) that all say 'update', but the store won't update them. It shows as downloading then nothing happens.
I'll call Google and ask about this, but clearly a bug!
I believe I've had that issue with apps not updating in the past...
I *think* I fixed it by deleting the Google Play data/cache.

UPDATE:
A quick power down and reboot, and apps are updating just fine.
Sorry for the false alarm on the play store stuff.
The thing I found annoying was that it was auto installing apps I had installed across both my n4 and n7. I do understand that it was just looking at my account and installing the aggregate of installed apps. When I tried to remove them it tried to auto install the apps I didn't want on my phone TWICE more. It was like whack-a-mole.
Finally seems to have conceded that I actually do know which Apps I want on my phone..

Has anyone been experiencing Google Play Store issues, i.e. cannot update apps or DL

Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.

Google Play Services

Morning all!
I appreciate your help on previous posts of mine and I'm looking to seek your help once more.
I use several apps that use the Google API for maps, unfortunately (aside from actual Google apps) this doesn't work. It simply says 'Google Play services are updating'. Except when I go to the settings, they are not.
Is anyone else having this issue/has been able to find a workaround?

I had the same problem, so I did this - went to Settings / Apps, turned on "Show system processes", then under Google Play Services / Storage /Manage Space cleared all data. Now everything works

All hail JadranB! Thanks for your help, this has fixed the issue.
It fixed the problem to me, but only until the reboot.
Then the problem appears again.

Yeah, unfortunately this seems to be the case for me too. I haven't been able to find a more permanent workaround.
Fortunately i figured out!
This is happening due to beta version of google play services. I unistalled the latest updates and it came to a version 11.9.75. Then, it didn't upate anymore, unless i download an app called Play Services Info.
If you stay at version 11.9.75 then there is no problem at in-app maps (reboot it or not).

Thanks. This also fixed an issue for me I was just about to ask about, where all links from my Google feed refused to open in anything but Chrome and the option to "open web pages in the Google app" was greyed out (and Opera as my default browser was also ignored).
I was also unable to sign into Chrome, it said my account was already in use. Seems to be working now.
I wonder what's going on here? Never seen anything like it on my previous Samsung phones.
Just had the update to 110 UK, but the issue has just occurred again.
It's getting ridiculous!
Same issue here, and I can't log into Chrome .. Says "Syncing to .." and never updates. Some apps are forcing me to update Google Play Services, so this is a mess .. If you update play services then Uber and Maps, along with some other apps won't work!

only workaround is to clear all google play services data
I am also struggling under this.
My Fitness apps doesnt shop a map until i delete the play service data. Works until the next reboot. Hope someone is fixing this soon.
The temporary fix results in all credit/debit cards vanishing from the Google Pay app.
So basically I just uninstalled the current updated version of google play services and forced google play to no auto-update. This seems to have fixed the issue temporarily. If you stay at version 11.9.75 then there is no problem.
Hi all,
Android app developer here. This is an issue with the latest Google Play Services (12.6.73 released on 10th May) and has been affecting Huawei devices and maybe some other vendors.
You can check the progress on it on Google issue tracker here.
Also from what I've read the "clear app data" fix is just temporary, issue returns after device restart or after some time. Google seems to be already working on the issue so I think it would be best to wait it out unfortunately
I have a couple of issues it seems besides the map issue:
2 factor prompt doesn't work anymore, and the google assistant options are broken.
Couldn't log into chrome with my google account either but that seems to be fixed after a factory reset.
Edit: most of the issues seem to be fixed now. Still no working 2 factor prompt. Other than that everything is fine again

This has been resolved for me after updating from 103 to 110. No problems, even after a reboot.

Yes I was having the problem too until I disabled Play Services and left the beta program in the play store, then updated again. Leaving the beta definitely solved the issue.
Hi,
So I have 12.6.73 and still this problem.
Can someone help?
