Q&A for [ROM][N6]-AOSiP-[5.1.x]APR-10
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][N6]-AOSiP-[5.1.x]APR-10. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

You are probably using the wrong radio. Try searching for the 5.1 radio IMG.

I have a weird question I'm part of the webview beta, i guess this ROM and most ROMS use a custom webview is there a way to replace the built in webview with the beta version that updates? If that makes sense lol

Have you tried replacing it with the beta version? Ours is version 39 currently.. I believe the newly updated is version 40 (stable).. Have you tried just replacing it.. Downloading the beta and freezing the version 39?
First foray into flashing
I have to say that I am really loving AOSiP on my Nexus 6. It is my first attempt at flashing my phone. Special thanks to Mike Barrett and his YouTube channel for getting me through it! I was not sure of the process and he laid is out step-by-step and it worked flawlessly...I even upgraded to RC-3 last night with no worries or problems.
I would do whatever it takes to get AOSiP listed in the Nexus 6 ROMs List on XDA. I always keep looking there when I need to get back to the Forum, only to realize that it is not there.
I really love the G+ community as well. It feels more homey than the XDA forums for sure...and that is where i was monitoring last night when Kris was teasing that RC-3 was close.
Looking forward to learning more about AOSiP and hopefully being able to contribute to the community in some non-development way in the future!

Also, can you change it to where we n00bs can post in the most current build thread? Since i have less than 10 posts, i was forced into this thread.

Well, I tried to reply in the APR-26 thread and it moved me to the APR-10 thread...See the [WELL APPARENTLY I CANNOT POST THE IMAGE, see below in red] that I get since i am under 10. I was just worried that my messages would get lost since they are in this thread and not the main (current) thread.
Warning text: Because you have less than 10 posts, the developer of this thread has opted to have replies go to a separate questions and answers thread. Placing your question within the Q&A thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Once you have more than 10 posts, you can post anywhere.
Maybe they won't...and I only have 7 more posts to do!

I had an Galaxy S4, but I always wanted the Stock Android OS...so when my contract was up, they announced the N6, and I decided to wait until release and got one...then LITERALLY 3 weeks after I got it, I dropped it and shattered the screen (first time ever after 5+ years of smartphone usage). Luckily, AT&T Insurance was great since it was my first claim in 10 years as a customer and I got another one...then about 3 weeks ago, i dropped it and cracked the upper right corner. It is no where near as bad as the first time, but i means 2x in 3 months!!
I will keep this one with the crack in the top corner near the camera. I just ordered an XtremeGuard glass replacement so it should keep the crack at bay.

Yw I agree specially with the new qcom cpu things should be better for the development as now it will have a better chance for stable roms, let's see how many intersted in it..
If there is one I am ready to ditch my warranty for it
You have my vote too.
I have the t-813 variant but from my knowledge t813 would benefit from a t-713 custom rom!

35 votes should be good enough, creating a tree for a new device requires much time/effort and too many debugging to maintain a final stable build , i worked before on projects where only few were intersted in my work and the other were downloading in the background without even hitting the thanks button, it's why I'm using a poll this time..

I am! It would be great because the T813 is hopefully the next one and I am waiting for it for months. I already lost my warranty because I did not checked it an thought it was a gts210wifi - bäm ... error ... and I had to learn that it was another (newer) tablet. I tried myself as much as I can, but I am a noob and need someone for help. My tablet is in a deep sleep and needs the lineage kiss to awake from the presumed dead.
You are right, it is not okay, the ones who make all these efforts and progress in the world of open source are not compensated enough. Only download it and never seen again. I hope at least the number of downloads and the huge amount of people you help, will be motivating you.
Ein dickes Danke aus Berlin! If you ask me, there must be a lot of guys out there, that would love to have your help too, but after so much time the tablet was released, not everyone looks, what new progress happened, like me. So please help me so I can use my tablet. (I refuse using it without lineage in the meantime.

Ditto to this. I think there as many or more 813 owners as there are 713 owners. Please make this work for my T813!

I would be interested if it supports the Snapdragon version.
I am also interested in a snapdragon version.

Really pointless thread. If you've followed any of the other AOSP request threads, you'll know that it's a very complicated and involved task. Amassing "+1" posts isn't going to motivate anyone more to take on such a task.
On a more personal note, I don't know why someone would buy a device like the Note 8 just to strip it of all of its features. Personally, I bought my device because of all the features Samsung has put on it. I wouldn't put AOSP on this, likely even if someone paid me, because it would defeat the purpose of having this device in the first place.

If you think that way you shouldn't be on XDA then, development is main thing we discuss here. Giving support to Dev in any way concerned will help them!

We all have different opinions and preferences, so I think we all belong here. Of course support for devs is always welcome, but a +1 thread may not be the most effective way to go about getting what you want...They can already see the view count on aosp-related threads after all. Maybe try reaching out directly instead.

Well, devs, I think, try to develop roms to attain a better experience, adding some features, taking out some not very popular ones, in general to make the overall performance better, as Max Terrible here stated, buying a note series device to strip it down of ALL the features that make it what it is, in my opinion, is pointless, to that effect, you should get a pixel device, clean pure android out of the box

Do explain to me how having a thread full of people posting +1 to try and convince a dev to make an AOSP ROM, is considered supporting the dev?
I definitely support the devs and the great work they do on here, but recruiting a mob to basically create a petition for someone to do something you want, is not what I define as support.
I assure you, any and all devs working on the Note 8 are aware of the very, very small group of people that want an AOSP ROM.

There would be lot of people who dont upgrade mobile regularly (may be 6 months) some upgrade after 2 years. And u might be knowing samsung way of updates so aosp rom etc is very help to have a taste of latest updates. I know only note special things wont be working but many extra things u will get in these roms. Till now we are not able to use gcams! This shows development for this rom. Intent of this thread was to see popularity of this device and let dev see the demand:laugh:

This was the situation with Lenovo p2. But dev's eventually got in and now they have a great development curve.... the p2 users donated money for one dev to buy p2 for development and well. That was initiated by a user. And development kickstarted soon after.

But first, we need to organize users who would be able and willing to donate. Once enough people are there and we can figure out on total if the amount offered is sufficient enough, we can start contacting dev's. After we have a dev ready to help, then start pooling in money and purchase the set and send ot to the dev.

just a heads up. according to XDA rules. donation threads have to be created by the developer itself who is interested in the device development. he has to green lit such a thread with an XDA admin. if it gets created by forum users it gets closed pretty soon as it is against the rules.
so first step would be finding an recognized developer willing to spend his free time on the device.

two options comes to mind.
A: look into devs that were or still are maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon based) phones and might be interested in the A70.
B: look into devs that maintain a device that has the same SoC (or SoC family) as those devs will have less than half as much work (it does depend on how far the kernel deviated from code aurora code) to maintain a second device if they have already established the knowledge on the primary device.
E.T.A. Unknown..

The Operative Phrase Here Is: "Still Maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon Based) Phones".
In the U.S... Samsung Snapdragon devices have their bootloaders locked down.. ( Per Carrier's Request ) so you have Zero ROM Development..
IMO.. you have to love this device for what it brings to the table stock ( Widvine L1, Themes, AR Emoji, UI, Gaming etc ) just in case nothing Custom sprouts..

His github: https://github.com/33bca
and also a Recognized Developer over XDA
Guys our device is short of pro developer who can develop device tree so we talk to a pro developer and obviously if he develop then he needs the device, if the fundraiser succeds can do wonder to our device
Please I encourage entire community to take it seriously and contribute to make this a successful one.
We must safeguard our development for both Willow and ginkgo.
Here's my donation
https://i.imgur.com/esdcydJ.jpg
Pls do any possible donation there is no minimum limit.
The RN8 community actually took a poll in the telegram groups to confirm members voluntary intentions to crowdfund the device to the Dev, and feedback was overwhelming. As we all agree and accept this voluntary step is crucial to rapidly and effectively grow development for RN8 device, we the community don't just want ROM, or Kernels but Bugless as possible through a real recognized Dev who knows his code, to be safe, secured with open source ethics at heart. I will strongly recommend and advice others members to actively join this cause and make it a success
Remember; It is voluntary and we are not forcing anyone
It's just my opinion but, every donation will return to community ×100000 in the form of rock solid, vivid and high quality development. No need to rip off anyone's pockets, if we do this in a spirit of collectivity. Thus said, lets put our alm on this effort.
Everyone should contribute for this because it make our redmi note 8 more stable on development.
The crowd funding has been a successful one. Thanks to all who donated their hard earned money in this cause and a special thanks to @b1||41ds for making this contribution successful.
Don't want to be rude but is there any progress being made?

Regarding v development? Yes. Wip on trees.
does dev still need donations cuz i will donate 7 cad if fundraiser hasnt reached its goal yet. edit: i didnt read the title
I'm not on the Telegram groups, so what I say might be irrelevant/obsolete, but woud you guys consider doing the same thing with developer @Dyneteve, if they do not yet have a willow or ginkgo device? I for one would be happy to contribute, as many kernel/device trees I've been looking at seem to come (more or less directly) from some of their work, and they're anyhow thanked in many ROMs I've been using.
What a successful fundraising it was ^^. I wanted to ask though are there now more chances for cameras to be fixed in android 10?
Thanks!
