Rog Phone 2 firmware ww-17.0240.2004.9 - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

I am currently using 17.0240.2004.9 firmware on my ROG Phone 2. Since Asus removed that firmware version from the ROG Phone 2 firmware download page, should I stick with my current version or should I downgrade to 17.0230.2004.60?

Up to you dude. If, like me, you don't have any issues then I don't see any reason to downgrade. If I encounter issues then yeah, I will. But it's been running fine since release.

Why did they pull it? was there any official statement or issue logs with that specific version? I haven't encountered any issues with it so far

After update to the newest version i have massive battery drain. No new app have been installed after update. In BBS i have checked wich wakelocs are responsible for drain and i have blocked them but battery is still bad. After 8 hours idle at night im losing about 8/10%...I will w8 for new update about a week or so, if they didnt realease new update i need to downgrade coz this is bull****. No games, no socials, only calls and browser/mail and i have 5hsot and 6h calls on 1 charge.. Before update that was 8h sot and 10h calls.

I never had an issue with 17.0240.2004.9.

Galaxy note 5 battery drain solved with ota update ( android m)????

Hi guys
I have question, i rooted my phone ( note 5 ). But i regretful , so flashed official rom again(4 files rom) .now everything is good but i have a big problem. My phone have a lot of battery drain in standby (2 hours =10%) and my android system with android os always stay awake and never go to sleep .now i want ask you if samsung release android 6( marshmallow) for note 5 and i update my phone with OTA to android m , my problem ( battery drain) could be improved or solved??? Pls guidance
Tnx
Change to 2g only
I chenged to 2g but still have same issue. Its a bug , maybe solved with android m
I am experiencing the same thing on a different phone (Alcatel Idol 3). I changed from LTE > HSPA+ and the issue still occurs, just a lot less frequently. I thought that it had to do with reception so I started changing my phone to airplane mode and connecting to WiFi when I went to bed. I thought that solved the issue but I had substantial battery drain less night which proves otherwise. Much less frequent occurrence fwiw but still not 100% resolved

Read post above. It is same for all Exynos7420 that I'm aware of.
I have no idea of Android 6 update will fix your issue.
All I can suggest is to re-root with a kernel patched for the deep-sleep bug. A kernel such as my SkyHigh kernel.

I test on my N920C which is same as yours and no reboot. You just need to read SkyHigh OP and installation instructions. Things won't be spin fed.... Take it or leave it.

Follow these steps to stop idle high drain.
On your GPS and select only wifi and Mobile network and off GPS.
Than go into lock and security and other security and than device administration and off all. It might save high idling drain. And syc should be off so that it can't auto syc. Android beam, nfc all other are also at off.

Root with stock ROM is very much liveable for me after applying the deep sleep fix (working perfectly for me):
Deep Sleep Fix - APK
I was having no deep sleep after root, applied this fix & am now getting ~75% deep sleep.
If you don't want to go the APK way, you can meddle with the system yourself (haven't tried this myself though):
Deep Sleep Fix - Manual Way

Precisely, deep sleep does help a lot with battery drain on stock, rooted ROM, see the fix above.

Does Android M fix the Deep sleep bug?

As Android M doesn't have root ATM we cant even flash a kernel etc.
Is that bug relevent there still? As I really want to update but can't take the risk that it will kill my battery so fast..
Thanks!
Its there on the tmobile version and s6 marshmallow. So i think on 920c it still have this bug.

no its not fixed. i factory reset the device after update but still no deep sleep
that's crap. Samsung need to pull their finger out. That's all I can say.
i think its deliberate.. to keep people from rooting
Supersu 2.67 have deep sleep fix and work perfectly in marshmallow.
this doesn't work with N920C Marshmallow. because there is no root.
or have you managed to root it?

ON N920c ?!
i wonder if supersu works, i installed it via TWRP but it says it got no binaries...
Also there are some issues with sound getting cut to half when playing angry birds 2 and other games, youtube is fine, battery leak is insane, and i think memory management is not fixed... either that was a beta release that got pushed or it's not ready.

[SM-N9208] Note 5 Marshmallow Delay

It seems we still haven't got the update for our SM-N9208 dual sim variants.
I've checked sammobile and almost all (except ours) note 5 model already have marshmallow 6.0.1.
Why do you think is the reason for the delay of the firmware? :good:
I'll be putting my experience here once i've got the update.
I'm also hoping that someone roots and flash a custom kernel and share how they did it in case a battery drain bug (KNOX deep sleep MM bug) occurs. :fingers-crossed:
Please change the thread titel. It is not funny to be disappointed.

Can someone help?
One of my attempts to solve, was to install a custom kernel.
It did not solve everything, but it helped.
Hi.
Installing custom kernel will not solved everything.
U should install Better Battery Stats to find out misbehaving apps which may have drain yr battery.
Cheers..

I don't know to be exact how old is my phone because i bought it used.
But i think i need to replace my battery since it started to shutdown on 5% and sometimes at 10%.
This shutdowns happens on all roms even on stock.
