So, It has been 10 months of headaches. Bought in july 2019, for two months best phone ever, battery lasted 2 days, near to 1-2% of battery drain at night on standby. After installing miui 11, the battery said "bye bye". 3h screentime, need to charge the phone twice a day, losing 10%/h on standby.
What I tried is:
-havoc os
-xiaomi.eu Miui 11-12. beta and stable
-Evolution x
-latest firmware always/reinstalled latest firmware-vendor
-always clean install wiping everything
-new battery 2 months ago (same results, no difference at all)
-no app is draining battery in the settings
-unistalled analytics and miui daemon (msa not found on xiaomi.eu roms)
the phone goes in deep sleep as you can see in the photos in the link below.
Gps, wifi and bt always on. Tried switching them off, just 1% less of battery drain on standby.
Bought a broken mi 9t pro just to try switching motherboards, just to try that it isn't a electric or physical issue with the phone, but can't do it that right now, waiting the new screen to test the broken phone.

Any suggestion?
Have you tested putting the phone on standby in airplane mode? This is unlikely to be the root of the issue but poor cellular signal may negatively impact the battery life.

tried that also, nothing change. Always 4%+/h of drain in standby.
I've pretty same problem, and it's really strange...
I've a Mi 9T Pro, bought not more than 2 months ago brand new, all stock.
I leave on just the phone active during the night, in both SIM cards: no bt, no wifi, no mobile data active.
The battery drain is around 10%, which is really insane considered that before my 3 years old phone, an Honor 8, in same conditions, was draining not more than 4%.
In general battery is draining really too much.
Passed OTA from MIUI 11 to 12, but the drainage is same.
I'd like to understand what is the issue causing that.
Dude. Same issue for me. It's only 6 months old. I noticed battery loss on miui just a month into purchase. I'd suggest pick a rom without Gapps or one with microG and try them out. I was using evo X and getting around 6-7 hrs SOT. Once I moved to Aim and Omni I started getting 9-10 SOT. I think Gapps is mostly the culprit. Miui sucks these days. I tried miui 12 and was utterly disappointed. Try this and you might just start loving your phone again. I'd say go for Omni and setup microG, install greenify, turn off battery optimisations only for essential messaging apps and turn on aggressive doze. Your sure to see a difference
Try havoc os 3.7 , try it without social apps like instagram, facebook and other crap.
Mine usually lasts around 3 days with 6h sot.
I also have gps , bt , sync and data always on
Tried gms doze? Disabling autostart of apps in miui?
Mi 9T Pro ll Tapatalk
The point, guys, is not to try different ROMs or install apps or not to use social medias because the phone drains battery...
The point is that the phone should not drain battery that much at all!
I think Xiaomi should care more of the firmwares released, trying harder to fix bugs that might be important rather than releasing new features.
My own opinion.
PS. Last night i checked the battery drain thoroughly: from 1.30 am to 7.30 am, just both SIM cards on to receive eventually phone calls, no WiFi, no BT, no internet connection, ND mode active = battery drained 9%
It is not acceptable!!
Clear all apps from memory, clear cache of 'Google Frameworks' and 'Google Play Services' don't restart the phone
I do this whenever I remember usually every few days and get great SOT around 9-11 hours. Although Accubattery says my battery health is 3300 of the 4000 as I've had it for a while and I'm a very very heavy user. Brand new was getting closer to 10-12 hours doing this same method.
I found it by someone posting a random comment somewhere in this forum just don't know who or where I saw it. They gave no explanation as to why it works but just what they did and its worked immediately. Note I'm still on MIUI 11.0.3 Global as I'm nervous this method won't be as effective in more newer MIUI Versions.
If you have a newer version please try and let me know if it still works, hope this helps
Also I reinstall MIUI through the phone after clean flashing it via Mi Flash
That is that I flash clean (erase storage but not lock bootloader) from Mi Flash and then go to the update settings of the phone and then press the 3 dots at the top left and "download latest update" and then install it again
This helped when I was on MIUI 10.X.X but do it out of habit so not sure if it helped for MIUI 11.0.03
edit: Reinstall method
Similar issue with my K20 Pro.
1. The battery backup on Android 9/MIUI 10 was giving me close to 1.5 days of backup of 7-8 hours of screen time.
2. It was decreased to 6-6.5 in Android 10/MIUI 11
3. Now with MIUI 12 it is reduced to 6 hours and with need of charging two times in a single day. All this with no social media apps, only Whatsapp, Youtube, Prime Video, Spotify and MS outlook, teams apps with regular usage. WIFI all the time, no GPS, 2-3 hours of Bluetooth. plus tried deboating MI apps.
So far I have tried PE, EVOX and EU roms but all gave me disappointing battery backup. The battery seems fine only on android pie so my assumption is that battery probably doesn't need replacement and more of xiaomi's firmware related issue on android 10.
It's so disappointing to see such a great piece of hardware holding back because of battery. I hope somebody find a good solution to this issue.

Hi guys,
The main reason I moved from OnePlus 3T to this Moto X4 is for the great battery life. But ever since i bought the phone i am not running on good mileage. It is rather decent but battery percentage decreases quite a lot. Unable to find the right culprit for this.
Currently I have rooted and running Magisk and running on Oreo (Retin, XT1900-2 India).
It goes from 90 to about 15 percent in a day with decent Whatsapp, Facebook (app changed to Fella), and Messenger, and from time to time I use Google drive, watch little video clips (low quality from Whatsapp).
Screen time is about 3-4 hours, in the span of 24 hours. My home is situated in a half sort of signal zone (constant 4G network, no 3G or 2G, Jio network) and 90 percent of the time I use Wifi (ac/n).
In contrast I have a Xiaomi Redmi 5A (office use, costs 77 usd currently) runs for 3-4 days on a single charge!
In Magisk I tried the Google GMS core (i think thats the name) doze and it freezes my Whatsapp notifications and others, I need these notifications, so I disabled and am running normally.
Is there a particular thing that I can use or test or try out to find out what is going on in my phone? OR would you consider that this is usual for this phone?

Nope, it's not normal. With wifi usage I get 7.5 hrs SOT on average. When I am out of station, I use Jio sim for accessing internet. I also use gps and maps in such case and still manage to get 6 hrs of SOT.
Thanks for that confirmation. Looks like something would be wrong then with the hardware.
There's something really wrong with your x4.
I have more or less the same daily usage and in the end of the day I still have more than 50% of battery.
i'm not usung my phone heavy, but always on bluetooth, wifi, momile data and gps, checking facebook instagram and those others social media few times throu the day, sometimes pokemon go. and i have 4-5h on screen time. max 20h in total (android 7.1.1 reteu)
Moto display is culprit
This phone has bad battery life. My moto g5 plus last longer.
yes i can confirm this behaviour. i guess this is largely after the oreo update and even before the update i didn't like the battery life as much which was may be the case because i was coming from yu yunicorn with 4000 mAh battery. so i don't know may be it's the oreo update issue or may be it's only a few models like ours that are affected. either way i'm really concerned as i'm really in love with this phone and don't wanna get a new one any time soon... ?
IDK how much it helps but go into developer settings and disable mobile data always active. It was on by default after I updated to oreo
Wow. I just picked up this phone, X4, to take advantage of a Sprint special.... The 2 days I have had it, the battery has been horrible. I turned off Moto display so I'll see if that helps. Otherwise, I don't have Facebook or any other social media app. I have 1 hour 39 minutes of SOT today and I'm at 15% battery. I'm seeing reports the Oreo update is when this started. Hoping this can get fixed with Pie and soon!
Any tips or tricks would be great! Thanks.
Here is an overnight view on WiFi. So 14 minutes of SOT with Google play services using 35% battery. Any suggestions? This is really hard to believe. I'm likely going to try and return phone I guess.
Did you reset your phone or restore backup?
Hello. Yes, I did a factory reset at the end of day 1. I just turned off background activity for Google play services so hopefully that will help.
Hello, I am new here and couldn't find anything similar in the Mi A2 forum about this battery drain in Android Pie 9.0.
I bought the Mi A2 128gb/6gb two months ago, and since yesterday I realised an abnormal battery drain. When I went to check it out, 37% of the battery was spent in the mobile network standby. Today, after 3 hours of use is around 15% already. In my use, I get between 3 to 5% per hour, now it is between 6 to 10% due to this issue, is infuriating for a phone bought two months ago.
I've been since yesterday trying to find a way to discover the cause, I use 4g LTE most part of my day and the signal is good, urban area, in both sim cards.
Haven't used any custom rom or anything, still standard from the global version, did all the updates, including the latest February 25th. I don't think the update is responsible for that, but it is the only different thing I've done in the last weeks.
Have tried several solutions suggested for others xiaomi models but nothing seemed to work.
Did anyone experience this? Does anyone have a solution?
Yes that is pretty strange. Mobile network standby shouldn't be using up that much battery. Try rebooting the phone to see if it resolves. You could install 3rd party apps such as Greenify to monitor background apps more closely/hibernate them, and Naptime which uses aggressive doze to make sure you get better standby battery life.

Download cpu spy and check if phone enter deep sleep, there was a bug some time before with the cpu stuck at 1401mhz.

Thanks for your answer. haven't tried yet rebooting the phone, I did just the network reset and haven't changed a thing.
I downloaded greenify, but haven't quite used because I can't identify an specific app that is causing the problem.
I am using Greenify, Accubattery GSM Battery, CPU Spy as well.
A strange thing is that the excessive battery drain is allocated in some apps.
Usually, in the android battery use, it shows whatsapp and/or instagram are using the most battery, but when you ask the full device, is when it shows the mobile network.
In the GSM Battery, it says the battery used 12% while turned off and 5% while turned on. It makes no sense.
The only thing I could realize is that when it does get in sleep mode, the battery drain stops, but as soon I start to use it again, it returns to happen. I am afraid is a hardware problem.

Thanks for your answer. I downloaded and monitored for today, most of the time it stays in 633MHz, and Deep Sleep. Both together are above 70%.
I don't think is a CPU problem. I am afraid is something with the antenna
I have an update.
I usually use LTE Network most of my day, today I managed to use wi-fi and the problem is not happening.
I suspecting is either an incompatibility with the Mi A2 network. But my girlfriend has the same phone, but the 64/4gb version and is not experiencing this problem, or and hardware problem with my antenna.
Nobody else has experienced this?
Hi everyone,
I received my phone a week ago.
After first boot it updated to miui 11.
I noticed a day later that the battery is getting empty fast. Much faster than my old redmi 4x.
I figured out that the CPU usage is never under 19% @ 595mhz
I testet that with different apps that show the CPU usage.
In case of that the phone also never get into deepsleep and the battery drains and drains...
Is here someone who can help me please?!

Sounds great! But how can i go back to 10?
First put phone into fastboot mode, then check antirool feature with command fastboot getvar anti if you have
anti: 1 it's all good, after that you need to download from Miui page proper recovery rom, put zip on your phone storage and then flash via Miui system update in settings. Don't flash wrong rom it can hard brick device if you have locked bootloader, also remove password for screen, fingerprints, all accounts, miui cloud

Thanks for that! I´ve downgraded to MIUI 10. But the CPU usage is still never under 19% . If the battery now will drain not as fast as before i will see., but i think it will be near the same.
Maybe you can do me a favor and check with the app " CPU / GPU meter & Notification " if your CPU is going under 19% usage. Maybe it is a issue with this kind of apps....
Probably apps have problem with readings..
I think below 19% when device in deep sleep or battery saving mode. Dont know about that app, maybe just reading in relatime. There is a case when i like your case, at first day using miui 11 stable eu, i can get 2days with 6h sot, most of it using wifi. Then i setup my phone completely. On next day, the battery getting drain fast, and it cant last for 1 day, and just 5h sot. Next i check battery usage, and whatsapp at the top rank. And i unlocking every task. The next day my battery back to normal. And when im writing this post, my battery have 85%, 2h sot, and 7h ago since last charge.
Miui 10 with airplane mode enabled
Since I upgraded to MIUI 11 the battery drains fast
not much draining for me but never go deep sleep, most used frequency is 576 mhz
Hi everyone,
I have the same sad issue.... changed from a 3 years old Redmi Note 4 to a 9 lite.
Battery life with my old Note 4 (same 4000mah) was twice the battery life on my 9 lite, after 3 years!!
I disabled everything in 9 lite, NFC, wifi, bluetooth, background and startup apps, animations, notifications, Gplay updates, face unlocking, always on display, enabled dark theme etc etc....
Same battery drain, 12-13% Android System usage on battery stats.
I hope it will be fixed on a newer MIUI update, but it is very irritating to have to charge a new phone every day, when on an older you had a double battery life.
Please update us in case we'll found a workaround....
Just a question.... How do you monitor CPU usage? I see the setting inside developer options has been removed.....
Same here. Tried many things. Looks like "Settings -> Battery and performance -> Battery saver" solved problem for me. Used to drain ~30% over night while idle, now ~7% in same case.
I suppose battery saving tries to shutdown functions I already disabled...
I tried to leave a feedback to Xiaomi.
Also I created android commands local file dump with code *#*#284#*#* and trying to investigate by myself...
I tried modify modify some settings and uninstall or disable some not used apps before. It made almost any difference.
Previously I used Samsung smartphone. With similar settings I had great battery life. It seems mi 9 lite just cannot sleep/deep sleep without Battery saver turned on. I did not notice any difference in performance, user experience or notification frequency while this setting is on, and it seems it works in different way compared to Samsung implementation. Just give it a try.
May be I'm out ; when I sleep if my screen is " up " I lost 25- 30 % of battery : ( when my screen is "return" 4 or 5 % : )

Interesting.... I'll try....
I find it crazy how this phones loses 7-10% overnight while my RN5 lost maybe 2. I work and live in area with bad 4G but decent 3G signal. I try to force 3G when I can.
I just switched on battery saver to see if it helps my standby drain at all.
I'm currently at 1.5 days off the charger, with 37% battery left after 4 hours of screen time. I am a fairly light user and just browse Reddit, XDA, text, hangouts, and 2 email accounts. Reminds me of my Nexus 5 lol. So terrible considering I do so many things to try to squeeze as much battery life as I can.
Maybe my Galaxy Watch being constantly connected has something to do with it.
Top 4 battery users are :
Android system 20%
Phone Idle 12.7%
Cell standby 12.5%
Screen 9.8%

Have you tried a GSI? Does anything stop working, like finger print reader, etc?
Inserting code ##4636#*#* and accessing networks menu, I found that in both SIM1 and SIM2 is set as default (LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS if you have 2 SIM and you use Dual 4G, LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS on SIM1 and TD-SCDMA/UMTS if you have 2 SIM and don't you use Dual 4G as default), the chinese network TD-SCDMA (before or after LTE network)
Probably this cause waste of time, battery loss and an higher sar level, mostly when LTE network coverage is not at its best.
Unfortunately this setting can be modified inside this menu (setting for example LTE/WCDMA), but this is lot when you restart the phone.
My firmware version is PFCEUXM european Rom.
I wish this TD-SCDMA chinese network will be definitively removed in next rom upgrade!!!
Hi guys. I am rocking CN version of Mi11 Ultra 12/256. It's currently on stable 12.0.10. i have allowed the application for notification and set up the system in my way to be usable by uninstalling most of the chinese ops that i was able to. Now, i can see that the battery drains abnormally it seems that the phone doesn't go to deep sleep. The second highest usage stats is android system.
Awesome phone!
It's a bit old but you can use Wakelock detector to see what is preventing your phone from going into deep sleep.
I'd also try to check the logcat to see if there is some system process working in the background continuously draining your battery.
I'm also looking at that graphic, it doesn't seem like Battery Drain is much at all. The phone has been active for 8 hours and it's around 80%? Doesn't seem bad to me.
Screen and Android System are the commonly the two most battery drainers if nothing else is cpu intensive.
Yes, but it was 8 hours overnight

20% overnight is indeed too much... Might it had something to do with the debloat ? Did you uninstalled the Chinese aps via the getapp store or ADB ( disable or remove )?
After I upgraded to 12.0.13 my battery did drain a bit faster the very first couple of hours. ( background optimizations i Guess ).
Today I updated OTA to 12.5.
We'll see how this goes .
Good luck to you !
You probably already checked these settings but don't forget to disable AOD (if you don't need it), WiFI/Bluetooth scanning and WLAN Assistant too as thais will help reduce power consumption slightly.
I think its normal drain...the system drain is just there for example i debloated around 30 apps and its good
Last night with everything on as during the day ( Bluetooth, wifi, mobile data, gps, nfc, etc ) it drained only 4%.
For me it's a new record
Here is mine

I uninstalled some chinese apps traditionally, so didn't use ADB download method.
Is the same that i did when i got my phone.
I went in the getapps store ( xiaomi store ) and uninstalled everything that i could there
Maibe you have some other software then installed , that isn't perfectly optimized.
My best advice is to go ahead and clear the full data for ALL the aps you are using ( including google playstore and the related services )
Also you can try to keeps the phone plugged during a night or two ( without touching it )
As i read somewhere, if the system sees that it has full battery and is plugged in after a while ( more than 20 min or so ) will start the optimizations of apps/general system ( otherwise it will try to do the optimizations during the day when it's in standby and above certain battery level )
I had some success doing this on my mi9 with xiaomi.eu, but in that case the rom version had a known battery drain
Do you have the miui optimizations disabled ( i left it enabled and haven't touched it ).
Have no issues with batter drain so far.
Good luck and keep us posted !
Did you ever fix the issue with the high battery drainage? I got my global unit last Friday (running 12.0.1) and I feel like I'm seeing a similar thing. Wanted to see what other users were averaging for screen on time. Is around 5hours of SOT with 120Hz and WQHD+ enabled decent?

Same.. i am on global with 12.0.6.
Batt drain is very bad, overnight, from 100% at 1am to 88% at 8am.
i have scheduled batt saver to turn on.
i am getting average 4 to 5+ SOT with 90hz and wqhd,
If it would happen to me i would check every app behavior closely ( battery app and maybe a third party battery monitor like accubattery that i'm using ), see if i find anything suspicious and if nothing is out of the ordinary i would do a complete reset, reinstall again and if this doesn't work, install xiaomi.eu stable at the very least .
But that's just me
on a side note, on my china unit when i was on the 12.0 the experience was not so great...
As soon as the 12.5 update came i could see a major improvement.
So maybe have a bit more patience until 12.5 will launch for global versions as well, all tough china will always be ahead in terms of improvement...which leads me to xiaomi.eu, again.

I don't know about mi 10 ultra but i can tell you that for me on the mi 11 ultra, it's very good.

I've promised myself not to root my pixel NOR install custom ROMs or kernels over the stock and for 1 year almost I kept the stock ROM on. It feelt wonderful to find a stock phone that was so smooth and an incredibile battery life then...
Well, then Android decided to update to 12 and I felt so confident ( usually I don't update software on old hardware ) and trust Google so much that i did the update bit **** starter to happen. Battery was draining faster then ever, with the same usage of the phone it went from 100 to 0 in 6 hours. Tried it for 1 week, factory reset twice and started from 0 with no apps installed but nothing changed.
Does anyone else had the dame problem with Android 12?
Btw, now I al on LOS + Sultan Kernel and in 13 ours of usage ( the same ad always, i don't use the phone to much ) I still have 77℅
I have the same issue as you! Besides that, A12 works randomly face id on my phone. Then I decided to use LOS

Glad you found a solution, but I have no issues with battery on A12 running the stock ROM. That being said, Google has replaced my phone twice due to defective batteries. My current phone shows 3,860 mAh capacity which is 104% of the design capacity of 3,700 mAh. I have used Accubattery for years (after the 6P battery debacle) and when the battery capacity dropped below 80% on the P4XL I was on the phone with Google straight away. Most of my problems on the previous P4XL's were from using wireless charging continuously and leaving the phone on the charger all night, charging to 100% every time.
