so
3. I used Orange Fox recovery, flashed Ozip, flashed vbmeta.img, flashed magisk20.3 and format data, the DEVICE BOOTED to REALME UI finally
4. if i wana go back to stock recovery ? where can i find stock oppo recovery ? ( this is not an important question for me btw)
my question as dumb user
1. how can i skip treble and what is treble btw and as on end user how will it affect me
2. is there a way to flash ozip without doing FOMAT DATA ? ( i was coming from c25, color os)
3. now i am on latest vendor and may be in a month new verison C30 will be out, If i flash it using OF recovery. will have to FORMAT DATA again ?

1) you should have used twrp 3.4.0 by mauronofrio. the official twrp has the zip treble error after decrypting
2) from color OS to RUI format data is mandatory
3) from c27-28 to C29 there is no need to format data and it is presumed that it will be the same C29 -> C30

First thing, if u ever want to flash ozip in twrp dont download it from official site . You need to use custom recovery flashable ozip. And if u move from one realme ui to realme ui no need to format data. Just flash custom ozip.

Latest twrp from mauronofrio and Orangefox are able to flash official ozip from Realme site

Can't install official update zip file in TWRP

I would install Global Dev ROM 7.2.16 miui_MI5Global_7.2.16_ab1851be8e_7.0.zip in TWRP (last version 3.0.2-3) but after installation, my phone not boot to system it stuck at mi.com screen.
If I flash other custom ROMs then everything is OK
Does this mean that I can't install official MIUI zip files in TWRP?

This has been discussed many times. Do not flash stock miui rom with TWRP. Use Miflash tool instead.
in the setting
choose the 'support official update'
@muchlas46
I can't use Miflash because if I will flash this file using Miflash then TWRP will be overwrite.
And If I would do that and then install again TWRP it will be asking me in first entry to decrypt data so I have to format freshly installed Global Dev ROM so I'm back in start point.
I would have TWRP, unlocked bootloader(have it) and GLOBAL dev, so to do that?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/tool-flashable-firmware-twrp-easy-t3474898
flash "Latest one -> Developer 7.2.9 Firmware:",then flash custom ROM(ex:Lineage OS)
I don't wan't custom ROM, I want to install official ROM from this e.g Global dev :
http://en.miui.com/download-299.html#443
anh have this official ROM with TWRP as recovery, is any hint to do this?
I want the EXACLY same thing LOL and i try everything but i cant have TWRP and Global dev, sorry i just wait with you for one solution.
I have idea how to do this but I'am afraid bricking my phone
Inside official fastboot file, after extracting is folder "images" inside is recovery.img file - this is stock recovery.
It could be maybe possible to replace this file to twrp file and leave it with the same name, then during Mi-flash will be TWRP installed instead stock recovery.
1. flash the firmware given above.
2.nougat miui often doesn't boot with only a clean twrp flash, that's why you have to flash the nougat firmware posted above.
else
1.flash 6.11 marshmallow global beta.
2.reboot
3.now flash nougat beta

Format the data partition in TWRP. You need to do this when installing over MIUI.

Are you booting into MIUI at least once after flashing it, before flashing anything else?
I've stopped doing the mount/unmount. I now always reboot back into TWRP after formatting data, seems more reliable.
In TWRP do a factory reset, then format data, then reboot back into TWRP.
After this install the ROM you want

If you want to flash something else, remove lockscreen security first before flashing. This should allow you to dirty flash an update, or clean flash a new ROM, without problems. You only need to format data when flashing over MIUI.
If you get into problems and you cannot successfully get a custom ROM working, this is when you need to flash MIUI first.
You only need to flash vendor/firmware files when the custom ROM recommends/requires a version that is different to what you currently have.

The emoji's screwed up my reply. Try again.
1. Next time create a new post, don't resurrect a vaguely similar old post.
2. Restore MIUI with a fastboot ROM and try again. Use my guide here to help you install the ROM of choice.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/simple-guide-flipkart-owners-t4151007/post83329343
If you're not sure what you're doing, follow the guide exactly, do not freestyle.
1.Install any rom
2. In recovery factory reset or change data partition to ext2 and then again back to ext4
Reboot
It will boot.

When flashing you will actually need vendor and firmware files together.
These are taken from the official MIUI fastboot ROMs. You can find them repackaged in a single flashable zip file from here.
https://downloads.akhilnarang.dev/MIUI/raphael/
Flashing one of these files in TWRP is the easiest way to go.
You can also find then repackaged as separate zip files from here
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/
This site has a much greater archive, so is good if you need an older version that you can't find in the other site. You will need to make sure you download vendor and firmware files for the same version.
You should always stick to the version that is for the region of your phone. e.g. Indian vendor and firmware for an Indian K20 Pro, etc.
Some ROMs use an OSS vendor and so this is included as part of the ROM install. In which case there is no need to flash the MIUI vendor.
When a new version of MIUI is released, vendor and firmware files might get updated, to fix a bug or to add extra functionality. In this case some custom ROM devs will include them so that they get the bug fixes or extra functionality in their ROM too. When this happens they will update the minimum vendor and firmware version requirements for their custom ROM - the version will be the actual MIUI version in which the vendor and firmware files were updated.
Where a ROM doesn't specify vendor and firmware and doesn't have an OSS vendor, then it normally implies that any version will work that is from MIUI based on the same Android version. In this case use the most recent version, which you will already have if you've kept up to date with MIUI updates.
When installing a new ROM, you will only need to flash vendor and firmware files if your current version is less than the required version of the new ROM.

Updating a rooted Redmi 8 with custom recovery

Hey guys I was wondering something I haven't installed the latest update yet and my phone is rooted and has TWRP on it soo not sure if i can just update with all that or like i should restore the phone to its original state then update
Last version of TWRP I tried (3.4.0-0) did not work properly with Android 10, don't know about the new 3.4.0-1 because I switched to OrangeFox which can decrypt Android 10 without issues.
As for the update process, you need to get the Recovery ROM update package, you can download it from the official xiaomi site, put it, Magisk and your kernel if you use a custom one either on the phone's internal storage or even better your SD card and flash from recovery in this order:
1. ROM
2. Kernel
3. Magisk
4. Wipe Dalvik\cache
5. Reboot to system
I did it exactly like this a few times now, granted it was with xiaomi.eu instead of stock but the process should be the same.
This should just update the phone without wiping anything and with maintaining root, just make sure to do it from a recovery that can decrypt the phone.

Well I have a few questions
By recovery ROM you mean from here https://c.mi.com//miuidownload/detail?device=1900376 the full ROM? like I just flash the ROM file using TWRP well OrangeFox version right and it will keep all my apps and data
Yes, you flash the rom from mi.com.
Don't "just" flash it or you'll loose root and OrangeFox, flash in this order:
1. ROM
2. Kernel
3. OrangeFox (I added this step because you are on official MIUI and the update will replace your custom recovery unless you re-flash it after the rom.)
4. Magisk
5. Wipe Dalvik\cache
6. Reboot to system
Before flashing make sure you are flashing the right rom for your variant and region.

Just flash system.img via twrp. Don't need wipe system partition
update your magisk on stock to v25.2 to avoid a bootloop. only bother to install phh patched GSIs if they're A12 ones.
backup up apps and files, boot twrp and format data (not wipe). use reboot option in twrp to reboot recovery... don't skip this stage!! wipe cache and dalvik/art. flash extract image to system partition.
