Hi everyone. So I recently got my Korean SKT GS3 stolen while at a wedding in India. I have friends here who know a person or two in the police, and is in a position to help me out and get my phone back for me. However, in order to do that I need the IMEI number. I didn't write down my IMEI number before I had it stolen, but I DO have the box that the phone came with. There are a lot of different numbers on the box, and I'm not sure which one the IMEI number is. I assumed it was 15 digit number on the box, but when I checked it with www.imei.info, it gave a completely different phone. There's another 15 character thing on the box, but I think that's the serial number because it starts with 12 SSBO 4G *******.
Can anyone confirm which number is the IMEI number? And by chance.. would anyone know if it's possible to track this Korean phone when it's in India?
Thanks in advance!
When i put imei of my nexus 6 on imei.info it shows that its the imei of droid mini 2..
Pop out the SIM and take a close look at the tray. The actual IMEI should be printed on the tray. If the numbers match the site may be reading your IMEI wrong. Otherwise it's a cloned IMEI.
Recently I bought an Indian Retail Unit Mi 5 (White, 32 GB) from flipkart. As I was checking the genuinity of the product I came to know that the Serial no: mentioned inside the system settings and that of the package back cover are entirely different(S/N in package cover - "13025/00040850" and in phone settings - "3b616d5b").But the IMEI no: mentioned both inside the system settings and that of the package cover were same.(IMEI1:869644021651547 , IMEI2:869644021651554).
So I decided to perform Product Authentication in mi.com and when I performed it with using both the IMEI with S/N : 13025/00040850,I got the product name as "A2 CT 印度Beetel版 (1.8G 3G 32G 白色)".And again when I tried Product Authentication using the S/N : 3b616d5b with both the IMEI I got a message saying that the IMEI doesnt exist.
And when I checked for the manufacturer name using the imei no: in another site it came as "Shenzhen Jugate Communication Co Lt" instead of "Xiaomi Communication Co Lt".
I also asked the customer support about the difference in S/N s and one said its not supposed to be that way and another said I only need to check the S/N in the package cover and the one inside the settings is a different one.But as far as I know both no:s will be same.I am very confused.
Is it supposed to be like this.I am not sure what to do.I just want to know whether my mobile is fake or not.Somebody pleaseeeeee help.... :crying:
Could anyone please check this with their device.
Same here
Yes. SN different for me as well.
Also same response from mi.com - A2 CT 印度Beetel版 (1.8G 3G 32G 白色
It is weird response though such a pain in the ass for simple verification
As per the xda community advice, I certified through mi antifake app and antutu officer.

Just in case if you have no account in mi. Download apk from attachment
IKR......When I asked them they said AC is the manufacturer's code for Mi 5. And I did already try the Antutu app and it gave a good for me. But some people are saying the app has bugs and its not accurate. For me the Mi 5 verification app takes like ages to scan the QR code...Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....................Its so frustrating.

well you shouldn't have flashed anything on it. If it was working you should have just used it. Most probably the phone your using is from an other country and single sim. Go to download mode and check the model number, it will be something along the lines of N960N/F/F-DS and then in setting about phone see if the two model numbers match.
I hope you had made a backup. If not go back to the seller and ask him to redo the software of your phone. Or you can struggle for your self on the internet and find someone who can help you (it will be straight up hell).
And if you want anything relevant to your problem the only place I know where this problem was fix is: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...us-ng-help-t4073865/post83258373#post83258373
If it had TWRP on it then it was not new but a used phone that possibly was faulty .Return to seller .
Hello everyone, I recently bought RN10 PRO (Indian version) and I've noticed that the Serial Number in the settings and when dialing *#06# is different from the box, however the two IMEI numbers are identical on both the device and the box
I ran CIT (dialed *#*#6484#*#*) and the Serial Number there was identical to the one on the box.
Should I be concerned or return the device? or is it something common and normal?
thank you for your time.
It's not uncommon for the software to be misreporting the serial number sometimes. Xiaomi has some bugs, but as long as it's not breaking, it's fine. My phone doesn't report the correct serial number either after update, and I know it's a genuine device since I bought it sealed and in person at an official Xiaomi store. The important thing is the IMEI, as the IMEI is unique to each network device. Though the IMEI can be spoofed, each IMEI is registered to a specific device, so if you ran a check on a spoofed IMEI, it will return a different device as a result.
Here's what you can do to check for authenticity. Visit this website and enter the IMEI (first one, then the other): https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei
Both IMEIs should show your correct phone model.
