I am on chinese rom 3.29 And it is smooth so far except the ram management, i have received 3.30 update but it says my system is rooted, any method of installing the update while on rooted.?
No.
You have either to get rid of the root or reinstall everything.
Try to uninstall Magisk (choose the option to restore boot.img from backup), restart and see if it works. If it does, you can always root again after installing the OTA.
If it doesn't, use the unbirck tool to get back to global, reinstal the Chinese beta (and all your data/apps), upgrade to 3.30, then root again .

Got BR3 installed on the Bionic, though never really used it until I realized I need to get my JB working, and OTA failed because I mucked with the bloatware with TB.
Any way, if I read this correctly (most guides with BR was based on BR1 or 2, and BR3 is completely different, based on TWRP) I have to
1) Backup the stock ROM
2) Setup a new ROM slot in BR3 (probably ROM-Slot-1) which is now setup, but blank and thus unbootable
3) Restore the "backup" (of stock) into this new ROM slot -- so now I have a CLONE of existing stock rom
and I can boot into either one, the clone or the real/original.
But from what I understand about the JB OTA, I CANNOT apply it through TWRP (I tried, won't recognize the file, just gives an error 6), or apparently ANY recovery except factory. But factory recovery failed because my setup is no longer "standard" (I got rid of some bloatware)
So is my only hope now to wipe the whole phone, reset to "stock" ICS, then try to pull the OTA JB or do factory recovery JB install?
Or should I wait for some intrepid hackers to repackage the OTA update into a script that is a bit more tolerate of power users?
And if I want to be intrepid and try, say, CM10.1 unofficial Targa, do I just install that into one of the ROM slots and boot off that, and ignore the JB update for now?

Until they get the root situation figured out with the official update, I would just forego it for now. From what I'm reading on the forums, doing the update could lose your root. Plenty of nice JB roms we can load on the Bionic, we aren't missing much. I even have Google Now running on Eclipse 1.3 ICS.
But yeah, if you wanted to do the update, you'd likely have to uninstall bootstrap/safestrap and do a factory reset on the phone. Unfreezing what you've frozen might work, but others have run into issues due to changes they have made. Worst case scenario, you have to flash it to stock using RSD Lite (which would definitely kill your root) and then updating, but a factory reset should do the job if unfreezing doesn't work. Like I said though, you may lose root in the process, even with SuperSU and OTA Rootkeeper installed and backing up the root.
So the android 6.0 OTA update just got available for me.
I tried to install it but the update failed. I have a rooted xperia z3 c (D5803) running android 5.1.1 with locked bootloader and custom recovery installed.
So my question is, how do i install the update? i dont mind if i lose root and custom recovery, i just want to keep my apps and settings.

The only way you will get OTA to work via PC Companion is buy putting your phone back to stock (no root, no recovery). It might be possible to use flashtool to restore a stock build without wiping data, but if it goes into a bootloop, then you will have to wipe it to fix it, loosing everything.
You could use Titanium backup to save all your apps/settings onto the SD card, then force PC Companion to 'repair' your phone. But then you'll be stuck with trying to root your MM build so you can restore your TA backup (Don't be tempted by Kingroot).
Have you considered moving to an MM custom rom? Slim works with a locked bootloader and is very popular, or an MM stock prerooted build. Both of these have install instructions that recomend a wipe, but it may not be necessary.
Several users in the Slim thread have said they successfully flashed without wipe.
There are still lots of glitches and problems with the MM build, are you sure you want to go through the pain of being an early adopter? Another month or so and they'll all be fixed.
Make sure you do a TWRP backup before you start, preferably onto the SD card.

Does the custom roms unlock the bootloader?

No, neither does using a stock prerooted.
Generally, is it says 'stock' or 'LB' in the title of the thread, then you can use it without having to mess with the bootloader.

The update will fail on rooted device.
And if you install it manually you'll lose root. I've been using the full OTA for the past couple of months:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota#shamu
It's very simple - instructions on that page - and doesn't touch your data, so it's a seamless upgrade. When it's complete, you can then flash TWRP and use it to reinstall SuperSU. 20 minutes end-to-end.
(And what's the "8/29 update"? Do you mean MOB30W, which has been out for a week or more?)
hiya, i'm on stock 6.0.1 rooted w/ twrp recovery. i haven't updated my system since MMB29S.
my question is can i jump to MOB30W instead of all the steps in between. if i can, can i flash the OTA update instead of the full image?
thanks
Yes to both. You'll need to reinstall TWRP and reroot.
i got root and i want update via oxygen updater, my question is if after the update the app un-root my phone and i need to root again?
Yes, OTA updates will unroot the phone, and also replace TWRP with stock recovery (unless you take actions otherwise).
My recommendation: You can just download the "full update" zip, flash in TWRP, then root with SuperSU/Magisk before rebooting. This will not only root the phone again, but also keep TWRP on the phone. You can find the full update file, and instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/official-oxygenos-5-0-1-android-8-0-t3728119
Also note, that if you are going to Oreo (which is assumed) and presently on Nougat, you will need a TWRP version which supports Oreo. Updated (supports Oreo) version of SuperSU or Magisk is also required.
Don't see a point in using "Oxygen Updater", when there are better means for root users. In fact, I've never used or even heard of "Oxygen Updater" before reading your post! And I had to Google it, to see what it even was!
I rooted my phone with Magisk using the Magisk image patching method so now my phone is everything stock + magisk root (no custom kernel or recovery) and a few root applications/modules such as Vanced, ViperFX and adAway.
Oddly enough, I have received a push notification from Samsung about the availability of the Android 11 update. But I don't feel safe to OTA update my phone because of root. So is there any way I can update it without losing any data and without losing root?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, I am looking for that also.
Any one?????
First, you never should update when you are rooted. It may soft-brick your device. And also, if you are looking to root after OTA update, the best thing you can do is downloading the stock firmware and flashing it through ODIN. Then, you can patch Magisk. I don't know if you will lose data, but I recommend you to backup your files.
