[/B]Hi, just received my TD2 last week and is enjoying it. I have one major issue though. In my car I have a Pioneer AVIC X3 system including GPS, AV and BT. Its the one with the motorized monitor.
Unfortunately it seems that HTC has chosen a different type of BT that is NOT compatible with my Pioneer system.
Does anyone know of any fixes ?
Maybe you can draw more attention to your thread by adding an appropriate title. Good luck finding a solution!
I had a very high end pioneer, never again.
With mine, the problem was that the pioneer won't recognise PDAs, but it will recognise Smartphones and mobile phones. (Each bluetooth device broadcasts what type of device it is.)
I actually told pioneer the problem, how to fix it, and their support would only say "your phone is not on the supported device list". After i put the effort in to help them improve their systems dramatically, they couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge it / forward it to the development people.... so I spent £600 on a kenwood, worked like a charm, Kenwood's bluetooth modules are made by parrot. (also the £70 kenwood I also have works great too)
There are some registry edits that work to make your phone identify itself as a smartphone, as long as it has the MS bluetooth stack, not sure the exact details though, I've not needed to do that since I got rid of the pioneer.
Hi Trinode,
Thanks a lot for your comments. If I was to try the registry edit thing... would you know a link somewhere where I can get this information ? Otherwise I'm probably forced to change the Pioneer system also.
TPMS has beenn mentioned a few times in the original thread, but AFAIK no one has managed to find out how/if any TPMS modules will work. I bought a TPMS module from Klyde, it comes with 4 valve caps and a strange mini USB thing that I assume allows you to plug another mini USB device into the unit at the same time.
Unfortunately I cant get it to work with the built in TPMS app that started appearing in ROMs from June either on my old unit or my new one, I ve tried searching for the device in the BT app and the BT in settings but I get nothing, I m awaiting a response from Klyde.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get it to work then let me know, but its good to see TPMS hardware available for these devices - even if its not working . . yet !
Can you share link from TPMS module?
My brain is stuck what is TPMS? I am sure I should know but i don't get it
Guess youre talking about Tire Pressure Metering Sensor?
would you probably add a hint to your OP and title so others know what you mean? Remeber the non-english-speakers here
Yes this is it (Tire Pressure Metering Sensor).

I simply bought it from Klyde, there was no link, I guess you have to ask them.
It turns out it cant be used with DAB, which is why I cant get it to work - the cable to attach it is the same as the DAB module they sent me.
I m not sure if its BT or maybe NFC or something. I ll report back with results when I get it to to work
Does anybody try this TPMS solution with his HU?

Does the app work in landscape mode?
Can the app start with background mode?
Does the external (valve cap) sensor show accurate value?
I have been using this TPMS system in Volkswagen Polo and my MTCB head unit since 3 months now and couldn't be happier with it.
It activates when you press the button because it invokes the reverse camera display source every time you call it into action.

I have tried these two models purchased at Amazon and they work perfectly. I have them installed on my cars.
The only drawback is that you need Bluetooth 4.0 and HuiFei radio does not have it. I have commissioned an RX USB Bluetooth for Android on Deal Extreme, to see if it works.
So far I'm seeing it in my S5 Galaxy.

Turns out you need a special lead that I wasnt sent orignally, it plugs into one of the sockets on the back of the unit, theyre sending me one, I ll post again when I get it.
Anyone have a idea if this would work with a joying head unit.

Dont know, ask the seller.
But in any case if it works with a Joyous unit it will work with ANY MTCB head unit. There is no such thing as a "Joying" head unit - Joying/CarJoying are simply re-sellers of Shenzhen Joyous head units.

Yes I think.
It looks made specifically for these HUs. So I supposed they tested them.
And screens look like built-in TPMS app that I got preinstaled on my HU (KGL). So I supposed it should work.
But I would preffer ecternal sensors, not ibternal ones. I have 4x4 which reqiires regular tire rotation and ibternal sensors are not suitable as I would need to remove and refit them on every tire rotation.
Is there external versio? I couldnt find it on AlliExpress.
The one I mentioned in my first post has valve mounted sensors and obviously works with MTCB head units

Why? Sure, if they are somehow hard coded to location its sort of funny when they might not match the picture, but you only have 4 tires. Its pretty easy to check them when they are low.
You want internal sensors for TPMS. Less chance for losing them.

I understand the point about tire rotation and internal sensors. Would it be possible to make the same rotation in the app, since all sensors are doing the same thing anyway? Eg. If you rotate your right front to right rear, make the same in the app to correspond with the sensor location?
Sent from my Mi-4c using xda premium
Yes, mapping is possible. Depends on product.

Hi All,
I have also interest for this. Somebody could give some information ? It works, or any other bluetooth type, using with external attached bluetooth 4.0 dongle ?
Well, I found out most of the connections for the TPMS as Klyde didnt send me a lead - power and ground were easy same as the DAB box, then, as its just a mini usb connection its just data + and data -, I know where the one of those wires goes, and narrowed it down to 2 pins for the other, I ve tried both pins and several versions of the TPMS app, but cant get anything. I ve tried looking for BT devices on my phone I thought I found 1 but my phone wouldnt connect and the headunit's BT wouldnt see it, my phone wouldnt connect and after removing all the batteries on the TPMS it still showed up so it couldnt be that. Totally stumped, just cant get it to work.
TPMS-Type
Let me inform you that for some time I'm trying to find a TPMS system that works well with Android auto MTCB-C I have made several purchases and placements from various vendors I will mention my experience to help future stakeholders.
For GS, KD, and JY machines, the following set works very well:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/TPMS-for-SilverStrong-Android-CAR-DVD-Car-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-System-4-Sensors-Alarm-Tire-Temperature/32803916037.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.IU13AC
It has its own very friendly app and it works with automatic start-up in the background and immediately informs if something goes wrong with the tires of the car, I recommend it for the above!
But last time I discovered another type with external valves that works very well with a Klyde machine and that's it:

Thanks for your post - I have the Last type, Klyde themselves supplied me with it, but they did not send me the lead and they did not reply to me when I asked for it, so I had to make one, but I still cannot get it to work, could you post a picture of the lead (the end that plugs into the head unit) so I can see which wires go where (I have seen the picture in your 3rd link before, but I cannot see where all the wires go) ?
Hi,
I have a 2015 Audi A3, which unfortunately didn't come with AA as an option (I think it was introduced in 2017). It's a real pain to install the 2017 MMI into an older car, but there are guys out there developing aftermarket Android-based headunits that basically put a whole android "phone" in the dash; which isn't a very eloquent solution and kind of overkill in my opinion. They've got their own SIM cards and you have to change the bluetooth devices the phone is paired to and whatnot. It's really not exactly what I'm looking for. I just want AA and that's it.
Anyway there's one guy who's kind of got what I'm looking for . Unfortunately because the car also didn't come with a touchscreen, I have to toggle through the menus with the knobs and steering wheel buttons, which is meh. I'd love to put a digitizer overlay on the screen and play around with it, maybe have a daughter board made up and inject the screen coordinates into the packets somehow before it's sent down to the phone. I'm more of an EE, don't really have a lot of Android dev experience but I've got a lot of microcontroller and firmware experience. Anyway that's my high level idea of how this might work, not sure if I'm going in the right direction. I did ask the guy at RSNAV (seems to be a one-man show) last night if I might have the source code after signing an NDA and I'm awaiting his response. In the meantime I want to get a plan of action going.
So I'm wondering how AA is integrated on the client-side. Obviously the manufacturer headunits aren't running Android, but they've gotta communicate somehow with the phone. I can't find this info anywhere, I'm guessing this is info Google only shares with Auto manufacturers and the Kentwoods and Pioneers of the world. But maybe I'm wrong. I'm assuming it's a protobuf-based protocol between the headunit and the phone, but I don't know.
Can anybody help me out here? Thanks.
All my android auto head units are running android operating system two Chevy and one Mitsubishi. Main reason why poplar cars get rooted head units and what not. But after market android auto head unit is probably your best choice.
Hi guys, I am new to programming and classic cars. I recently have the chance to buy a 80 model toyota and decided to make a head unit with my old samsung S3. I won't use it to control music or make calls. I just want head unit to show temperature, compass, fuel level etc. By the way, car does not have OBD or ECU, most of the reading would be analogue or through new sensors. Is it possible to attach new sensors to my old phone and read results on the screen? I believe this can be done using a raspberry pi but I am on a tight budget and if I can use what I have at hand for this project it would be really great. I add a sample image of what I have in mind to build. I want it to look genuine and proper for a classic car. Any help is greatly appreciated and I can even offer a test drive with my old beauty if you happen to swing by my vicinity
buy a Bluetooth odb2 adaptor and use the torque pro app.
I simply do not have anything to connect to OBD all the readings regarding the car are old fashion analogue. there is no central command or control.
yeah I forgot about the "classic" part. My bad. Torque will still let you use your phone sensors, so gps speedometer, and gyro based drag timer and hp estimate, but I dont know of anything else you would be able to use. Not that something doesn't exist, I just dont know what it would be.
thank you man I guess I will use the app and look for temperature on my phone.
When did 1980 start being classic, I was thinking pre-70 at least. Which model do you have? I'm trying to remember if the standard DIN size was being used then - I know it was on my mid-70s VW, but that was German, which is where the DIN came from in the first place. Dropping in a 1-DIN android head unit might be easier that rigging up something with your phone.
Hey Guys,
i searched the Web for a possibility to get AA running on my X70 Pro+ with Origin OS Ocean....
Unfortunately there are only Posts and Threads about the X60 and other Vivo Phones and so on .
The issue seems to be the same.
Has anyone found a workaround to get AA running on Origin OS....?
I was hoping for Android 12 to get the Phone going, but no Idea what time we will get Android 12 and if Vivo sets permissions for AA then.
Cheers and greetings from Germany
Hi,
Right now, there is unfortunately no way to get Android Auto working. After Android 10 Android Auto only trigger car installation of it is a system application. Since there is not the case with Vivo and you couldn't mount AA as a system, you are out of options to make it work.
There is a slight, but really a slight option that it might work with the new Coolwalk version which will be available later this year.
Otherwise, the head unit direct version is also in preparation.
If you want the working AA now, the only realistic option is to buy an Android CarPlay dongle, or using a spare phone with older Android version as a buffer triggered from your phone hotspot (or with a separate sim card).

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation
Im looking for an EZ solution too
But from my knowledge the only work around right now is root the phone and make AA an system app
which is not EZ for vivo since it does not allow to unlock bootloader
There is simply no chance to run AA with x70 pro+ now. The only viable solution are android dongles running on past Android versions and triggering car AA. Or even better - if you have or can buy cheap an Android 8, 9 or 10 phone with full gps and at least 4g ram (could be with broken screen or scratches), you can use it as an interface.
The only way to have android auto to work on your vehicle is to have the one with Funtouch OS (which I have), other than that, you will waste your time in trying to find a way to make it work..

My head unit is after market and supports wireless. I know that my x fold won't hook up. Are you saying if I get carplay dongle I can hook my vivo wifi to it and it will work?

The head unit has to support Android Auto. Then you can choose from a variety of dongles. Even though they have more or less the same chip, they are different. Each producer tries to squeeze the most from the device, and they have a different approach.
Basically, you must avoid those, which don't clearly stated that some version of Android is installed. Without Android you gain nothing, it's only wireless connection - for IOS.
Most of them have Android 9 or 10, though in the last time 11 appears as well. That is really interesting, because with Android 11 you must have AA as a system app in order to trigger it on a head unit. It looks like producers now solve that issue.
And surprisingly, the core you get on the head unit, if everything goes ok, is not Android, it's IOS. In that core you have android apps including Google Play.
Since, as I said, every unit has a unique configuration, it's not possible to recommend any. The device that I bought is not in the market anymore, for example.
The very piece that you buy must play well with your car head unit and everything what is behind. And behind is a lot, managing systems for settings, audio and other customization.
You must be aware, when you connect AA dongle, it cuts every other setting related to its management out.
Therefore, the biggest issue might be that you'll lose calling via Bluetooth functionality. Because callings (and old style sms) goes different way than other features. My dongle does support calling but in limited way, without Assistant support and with custom made phone app, where the contact selection is rather difficult. And the next flaw is that it doesn't get along with my car audio system, therefore woofers are not engaged. The dongle doesn't have an equalizer, and I can't remedy it.
There is noticeable lag when starting apps and with commands, but otherwise there is no lag when running. Music, video and Gmaps function without glitches. Yes, you have YouTube, Netflix and any other video app you might be subscribed to. And video runs well with a decent resolution. You can load apps from store or as a sideload. And you can play local files, stored either in the dongle memory or on USB.
That's my experience, others may have different. You don't have necessary to buy a dongle, you can use an old phone with Android from 8 to 10 as a driver. Because, as you may already guess, your actual phone serves only as a hot spot (wireless and if you're lucky bluetooth too - tethering) to provide a signal for AA dongle.
If you want to buy a dedicated device, select one which has reviews from the users with as much as possible similar circumstances and priorities as you have.

Thank you for the wealth of information. I Think I will just use my spare phone to run it. Until another solution arises.
