Hello there,
I have a Mi A2 for a year now, and wanted to start and try some roms to see which one fits my taste better.
I've searched a bit and haven't found a direct tutorial on how to unlock the bootloader, and since I'm on last August update, if there are any compatibility issues.
Some years ago I was a rom addict with my late moto g 2nd gen, and that addiction is starting to appear again
Is there any simple and straight guide to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP?
I haven't come to XDA in quite a while and I don't know if there are some new restrictions in these newer Android versions or something similar.
Thanks in advance, glad I'm back to XDA after some years!

Hello
Today I bought the 2nd gen Moto G.
However, when I tried to check for updates, it told me that there weren't any.
It's running 4.4.4 now.
The system version is the titan one.
Should I go with a rom or should I wait this one out?
Thanks in advance
Shadow
you should do what you want...
but know, to use custom ROM is need to have a unloked bootloader, in several countries this voids your warranty...
The day that the OTA update comes to all will arrive on your device. L today is still bug and will not be released, still no exact release date.
But if you unlocked your boot loader you have many options... see all here.
Hi, I have been using moto x gen 1 from a year . i have observed that the performance of the phone has gone down after upgrading the phone to lollipop 5.1 (official). I used to get free RAM of about 1gb or more when no apps are running in background initially (in kitkat and jellybean). Now after lollipop update i get only 500 to 600 mb free ram. Also battery life has become pathetic. battery doesn't even last a day. i get screen time of max 2 to 2.5 hrs. So please some one suggest a method to downgrade the software from lollipop to jellybean.
Awaiting response......
Give CyanogenMod 12.1 Rom a try. It feels much lighter and battery friendly than the stock. I get approximately 5hrs screen time playing back media and games throughout the day and upto 1gigs and more available free ram. Only way you can downgrade is if you have an unlocked bootloader, and if you do I highly suggest trying CM12.1. However, if you still wish to downgrade back to Kitkat or below than you may find the instructions available in the General forums as there was a recent thread created for that purpose.

If you can provide me with exact details about your device I might be able to help.
1. What is the device model? Eg.xt1052,xt1058,xt1060 etc
2.) Have you unlocked the bootloader? Without unlocking you cannot install custom roms such as CM12.1.
Moreover, if you haven't unlocked it yet then you are out of luck since you have officially updated your device to Lollipop so all known methods for unlocking bootloader will not work any longer.

Unfortunately nothing you can do at this point to downgrade without an unlocked bootloader. Any attempt will only lead to errors in fastboot and possibly brick your device. Just have to wait for when an unlock words with Lollipop but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Hey guys,
I am thinking of rooting my Motorola X 2nd Gen and so far I have found older and more outdated ways of rooting the phone.
I have never done anything like this with phones so I will need some guidance to make sure I don't mess anything up.
I have done some research and have watched many YouTube videos on how to root the phone but many of them show the phone with older versions of Android and in the comments it says that that way of rooting the phone will not work with 5.1. If it is useful, my phone is originally from AT&T and after I finished the two year contract with them I had them unlock it and I am not with Ting. Not sure if that info is necessary but might as well provide as much as I can.
Anyways, my question for you is if there are any guides to root my phone that are current and are proven to work.
I really appreciate your time and your help.
Let me know if I can provide any more information that will help you in helping me!

You need an unlocked bootloader for that.
Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNja2M6zc0
If you have an AT&T XT1097 and on the Android 5.1 08-01-2016 security patch, there currently is not a way to gain temproot in order to unlock the bootloader. We have to wait for tools like kingroot/kingoroot to be updated.

There might be a way to temproot, Try using the Dirtycow exploit, It worked with my Moto X2... Till i accidentally hard bricked it
Good evening for you all.
I'm an absolute newcomer to Huawei, as I had Motorola devices since 2014 :silly: I hope to adapt fast to this new device
For now, I want to start slowly. I found the device I bought is currently on Android 5.0.1, and found there is a way to update it to Android 6.0 officially. However, the tutorials what I could find on internet went into a death path, as the websites or files doesn't exist.
I'm currently using an ALE-L21, Compilation ALE-L21C40B181. I found there are differences between compilations and things like that, so... can someone bring me a hand with this? :victory:
Thanks in advance
Note: I found the phone is already Rooted. Curious thing.

Just install latest twrp and follow persona's B638 rom tutorial în this general thread.
Hello, I just bought this phone to play around and experiment for custom ROMs.
Can anyone link me to a working guide? I have found some videos on YouTube myself, but I would prefer something XDA community approved.
