So I like to watch movies on my phone. VLC and mxplayer are okay. Does anyone have a better video app for various types of movie files? With the hardware, it could be flawless. I wish razer had released a native app. Suggestions?

I just ran across ROCKPLAYER... for far it looks like an excellent movie player for the Samsung Epic 4g.... free version has some restrictions (but you can live with them).... paid version $9.99 removes the restrictions... am watching an avi movie now... sounds like it supports multiple formats... avi, mkv, etc.... just posting this for anyone who may be looking for a good movie player for their phone.
The stock player plays all those formats fine. Do you think there is a need for a player app?
Word,no need for another player,i tried a few and to me stock is the best.Maybe for wmv,rmb files and such rockplayer is usefull.Does stock play wmv?I havent tried it.Rockplyer is nice for phones that don't have native support.
Epic 4G natively supports a wide selection of codecs. Rockplayer uses its own for playback and doesn't run that well in a lot of situations. The stock player works perfectly for anything except MKVs, where it doesn't support subtitles. However, mVideoPlayer takes advantage of built-in codecs and supports subtitles flawlessly.
Stock player doesn't play flash video rock player I recommend this app its my favorite
i personally like act 1 the best.. ive tried mplayer and rockplayer.. they are all good.. i just stuck with act1

mVideoPlayer only plays movies that your phone supports natively. So if the Epic can play m4vs, mVideoPlayer can.
Anyone know of a good app for Honeycomb that will play various video file types including .mkv? I have tried QQplayer and Vplayer but the its real buggy on the xoom. Thoughts?

There are threads all over the general section on this issue. No application will play a high profile MKV on the Xoom. The native video player can play MKV files but it has to be baseline encoded. You will need to use an application like Handbrake to convert the HD video using the universal preset available on the application.

I haven't used it yet for Mkv but rockplayer is a great app I use to play avi files.
I've been using the full version of xvid4psp to recode x264 mkvs. Technically you can just copy the video and convert the audio to aac and push into a mp4 container, but my Xoom wasn't able to handle 1280x538 or whatever a 2.4AR movie is. I converted it to 1024x430 and was still laggy when playing with Act 1. It only takes my notebook about 2.5 hours to re-encode a movie that way so I'll probably stick with 848x352 or 848x480. Though I fear that might make it lag at full 16:9 480p so I might have to look at different profiles to make it less complex of an encode.
Hi all,
Just wondering what video player apps (free/paid) that's best for playing ANIME with Subtitle? (similar to PC's Media Player Classic thingy?able to choose audio and subtitle?)
Not sure anyone has hobby like mine, but I do carry some anime with me on my SD Card to watch on the go on my previous PDA (HTC KAISER) and it plays perfectly. (althou some doesn't have subtitle)
Anyone have similar situation and some advise to this android newbie?
17/02/2012 updates: (tested anime with .mkv files)
***Tried MoboPlayer 1.2.200 - great at playing the videos, but no subtitle
***Tried Mobo Video Player Pro v1.0.6 - laggy when playing anime, no subtitle

Try either Dice or mVideo player, both work well with anime.
MX Video Player ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad and its codec pack at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.ffmpeg.v7_neon ) has worked just peachy for me. It does have support for multiple streams et. al., and it's also plenty fast, too.

MX Player is the best ! I watch only anime & it has never let me down even once. The new HW+ decoder works wonders
Why don't you try my anime player and downloader? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43351881#post43351881)
It won't let you down
BS Player
BS Player
It's free and has all the codecs you'll ever need built in.
MX Player was my player of choice until they had problems securing MKV codec and others.
If you want something that plays practically all file types, is free and lightweight, then BS Player is the one.
Find it on the Play Store.
(I can't add the link, it is against XDA rules, sorry.)
Im using ARCHOS video Player on my GNOTE

How do you organize pdfs? Pdfs are the bane of the organized people. You need to put them in a site, or a subfolder, with all the files similar, yet you also can't have duplicated pdfs.
I just ordered one without appreciating this (duh). Most of my movies are in MKV and some are MP4. I have no 3D movies, but reports so far are very positive with 2D. Just ASSumed more than MP4 would work. MKV in particular.
Added: Can you use other video players too or just the VR software? Seeing some post in Ritchie's Room on Youtube they are using other players. Seems you would need the VR interface.
Edit: Removed a question about copying the card files since already answered in another thread.
Still no response? Either not many devices yet or not movies fans
I have searched the web and no answer other than 3D MKV files apparently work. Sadly not apples to apples though for playback compared to 2D MKV files, so not a "yes" for non 3D.
Guess I will find out myself on Tuesday
Will test all formats.

mkv files in 2d or 3d sbs work, but the audio has to be encoded in mp3 for stereo. ac audio and dobly plus don't seem to work, just stereo. i had to re-encode my 3d mkv files to get them to play nice. video looks great though.
the file types i've dumped on it so far:
AVI
MP4
WEBM (whatever the **** that is)
all successful and plays perfectly.
.mp4 .m4v .3gp .3g2 .ts .webm .mkv .wmv .asf .avi .flv. And for 3D video content, Oculus Cinema supports the side-by-side and top-to-bottom formats.
Hey guys,
Has anyone viewed movies with AC3 sound on the T815Y? I've had this model for a while now and watched a lot of movies on it, but I just recently noticed that I can't watch movies with AC3 sound. I have tried multiple players (VLC, MX player with custom codec), but with all it just freezes after a while. The strange part is that the whole movie freezes. Not just the sound. I also have a S6 edge plus and the same movies play great on it. Does anyone know if this is a problem with this model or if it is just me?
Thanks beforehand.
Try Archos with free codecs. It works flawlessly.
Get the all in one codec pack for MX. It's the best player on the play store hands down.

No issues whatsoever wirh Mxplayer on my Tab S, so the S2 shouldn't have any issues.
There is no better player than Mxplayer. I suggest you ensure you have HW+ hardware acceleration enabled.
