Afternoon gents.
So yesterday i tried to update my Mate S with 5.1 Android to the 6.0 version with Huawei´s Firmware. After adding the Dload file to the mobilephone and starting the update sequenze, the phone does a double boot, basically does the first boot as usual, after loading the first boot it reboots and does a second boot. The second boot just gets stuck at the Huawei loadingscreen.
Ive tried to clear both the cache folder and do a factory reset, both did not work. I tried to do a recovery from the Hisuit software from Huawei, but as my phone is not supported by the software, that did not work either. (And yes, i did get the phone into the Fast Boot menu).
So from what i can see, im left with doing a manuel reset of the ROM. This is not something im very good at, allthough i do know alot about PCs, phones is a whole nother area i have not exlored yet.
So i was wondering if anyone here had any help they could provide me with how i can fix this for this specific phone. I do have the stock ROM and the newest ROM with 6.0 Android.
Ive been fooling around with ADB and SP Flash Tools, but i constantly get stuck as im not too sure what im doing.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edits
Just a few Edits:
The ADB i simply could not figure out how to use, the SP Flash Tools on the other hand looked quite simplistic and easy to use. Problem i had with the SP Flash Tools is that i only have the Update.APP file, but i did need a Scatter file (and possibly some other files), this is where i got stuck using this software.
Also, i forgot to mention. Whenever i turn off the phone by holding inn the ON/OFF Buttion, it automatically restarts and tries to boot again. Basically i cannot turn it off.
hi..
try to get a full 5.1.1 rom for your mate s..
which cust version do you have?
eu is c432
global is c900
and all others are provider based firmwares or other countries..
so you need to get your proper firmware which is for your country, then take an external sd card..format it on pc (fat32), put a folder on it named "dload", inside this you put the update.app (no need for other files)..
then start your phone by pressing all three hardware buttons (power, vol+ & vol-) at the same time and hold them until the update screen is showing up..
then it should flash/install this firmware..
after that try to start the OTA updater by huawei..
if this doesn't work, take the correct update.app (full version) of the next higher version (in my example it was c432b145 (android 5) - c432b321 (android 6 beta) - c432b361 (android 6 final) ) and do the same as before..
good luck

Hi, thanks for the reply.
To be honest, im not completly sure which i have, but considering i bought it in Norway i supose the EU version is the correct: eu is c432
I did not know you coul boot from an external SD card. this made things alot easyer. Ill drive out to my office where i have a micro SD card coverter and try this fix. Ill bring all the Firmwares and lets hope it all works!
Cheers for the reply man, might just be my lifesaver.
Hello again,
I tried what you suggested with both the stock ROM and the new updated ROM, but it did not seem to work. The problem i get is when the update starts, it reaches 5% when it verifies the software, then i get a "Software install failed!".
Please note i had this problem before i tired this, problem first occured when i did a factory reset of the device. So i belive the phone is still not booting from the SD card, but from thge phone itself as before. How do i solve this?
I could also add. before i did the factory reset, the update did work, but it still got stuck on the boot logo.
I gues ill be sending the phone inn for service tomorrow unfortunatly, cause i cannot figure this out. Thanks though!
Hey all.
I am trying to unroot and re lock my bootloader so my phone is back to its normal state
I have wiped all data on twrp and re flashed with 136.
That isn't the issue,
Whenever I go to change the theme it doesnt let me, the stock icons are big and ugly and werent the stock ones I had before.
Does anybody have a guide on how I can remove all traces of this root because its not letting me get rid of these ugly icons.
Reflash from externe SD card ?

I think that what he said is this:
- Create a dload folder on sd card root
- Copy update.app (from 136) to dload folder on sd card
- Force an reflash: power off, then vol up+vol down+power
- After flashing, go to huawei updater and update to the last official version for your phone
This is what I've done with mine. And ended with bootloader locked and everything as factory again.
Hope it helps, but if you search the forum you will find a lot of info about this procedure.

If u wipe data and flash u need to include the hw folder to with the firmware in dload folder when u flash to get rid of the ugly icons and get Themes to work.

You have to flash stock recovery via fastboot before this method of complete reflashing firmware. Otherwise flashing process may fail and end up on eRecovery screen.
I got a free P9 from a family friend so i decided to tinker around with it.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader flashed twrp and installed SU on it but then I wanted to try the unofficial CM rom on it. But I wasn't getting any signal with it so then i tried to go back into stock firmware which was posted on xda (at the time i didn't know i had the wrong model). After that Playstore wasn't working so tried using another stock firmware that was on xda but then i found the right model that i had (VIE-AL10C00176) but now it's stuck in a boot loop. It would boot up (doesn't show that i have an unlocked bootloader anymore) and then it would restart. Occasionally it boots up into erecovery. I've tried downloading "latest firmware and recovery" from this but it's still stuck in a boot loop. Any idea how I might fix this? (lack of hindsight cause i've done this a lot on other phones but i didn't prep a back up). I'm pretty sure I left USB debugging on before all of this I have yet to test if i can reflash twrp and try flashing another rom to see if this fixes anything (any thoughts?). Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Hello. I would try this way:
1. download a complete dload version from http://www.huaweifirm.com/firmware/p9-plus-vie-l09/
2. unzip it, inside there is a dload folder..
3. format a micro SD card and copy the dload folder on it
4. shutdown the phone. If it does not shut down don't worry.. go to next step
5. insert the micro SD card
6. keep pressed all three buttons (volume+, volume- and power) until it starts flashing
Let me know if it works..

Many people have problems to get back from C432B336 to C432B160/151/etc. so I decided to briefly explain, how to rollback using official Huawei tools. I am not responsible for any damage, soft bricks, hard bricks, etc. Internal storage will be wiped clean! This method worked for me, I did it twice on L31 and L21, both times without any problems. All firmware files come from official Huawei support for Germany, UK, and Poland. Here we go:
1. Preparation
A few things are necessary before we can rollback:
SD Card (needed to apply update)
Huawei Rollback File
For L31C432 (EU): http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93787&siteCode=de
For L21C432 (EU): http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93800&siteCode=pl
For L11C432 (EU): http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93764&siteCode=uk
Full OTA Software File (for the system You want to finally end up with)
L31C432B160: http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93803&siteCode=de
L21C432B160: http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93802&siteCode=pl
L11C432B161: http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=93804&siteCode=uk
PC/Mac and USB cable
2. Going to C900B300
Rollback file will change Your software info to C900B300. As far as I know, this is a specific firmware key, that alows to fully update firmware to any other version. What you need to do:
Download and unpack Huawei Rollback File for Your device (links in chapter 1)
Copy "dload" folder from unpacked file to Your SD card
Turn off Your phone and turn it back on, holding POWER, VOL+ and VOL- buttons
Now, Your phone should apply update from SD card, and reboot
In Your phone, go to "Settings" -> "About Phone". If Your software version is LXXC900B300, everything is fine, and You can proceed
2. Switching to Marshmallow
Download and unpack Software File for Your device (links in chapter 1)
Remove all files from "dload" folder on Your SD Card, and copy "UPDATE.APP" from the file You just unpacked to this folder
Turn off Your phone and turn it back on, holding POWER, VOL+ and VOL- buttons
Now, Your phone should apply update from SD card, and reboot
Second reboot may last a while, but eventually You'll see a popup informing about removing user data
Next reboot will bring You a fresh install of MM,
Done
Again, I'm not responsible for any bricks, crashes, etc. If You want more information or help, please, leave a comment in this thread.

Hmm, update process of rollback file went fine, but in settings>about, it says build number is NRD90M test keys..
Should I proceed to next step?
EDIT: never mind, I did second step, and it worked like a charm

It works with unlocked bootloader?
I failed on the first step, it says "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package." I'm on VNS-L21C432B336

Try downloading rollback package for Your country, maybe that will help. You can find them on Huawei support site.
Did it yesterday. Works perfect for me. THX for the links
Done today and it worked perfectly (rollback from c432b335 to c432b161).
Bye, folks!
First file installed, rebooted... stuck seeing the Huawei logo... :/
Edit: it booted but the build number says i'm on test-keys and still android 7...And missing half of the apps
So I don't know if I can continue with the rollback

At the moment I'm not so sure anymore! But I am sure I used the L31 version, which is the one I need...
Edit: solved! See this thread
I can't downgrade to 6.0
It always fails when I try to apply the first step, and I can't find an package for my country(Romania) VNS-L31C432B336. I tried all the possible packages, and it doesn't work...
I can't downgrade to 6.0 too...i fail the fist step(the install upgrade goes well but the reset doesn't), i'm quite sure i used the right rollback package. I'm now stuck, hiSuite doesn't work(it doesnt' recognize the device or something like that) eRecovery cannot retreive the package to reset. I really don't know what to do.
Update: the phone is not bricked, there's some part of a OS similar to android, witout keybord, navigation bar and notification bar. Is it a clone??D: i should have wiped cache and factory reset(somehow)but nothing seems to work, everything fail.

That is really strange. I received an answer from them the very next day after I sent my e-mail describing my problem. Then it was just a matter of a few hours and constant e-mail exchange with them, talking about the problem, and eventually they found a way to fix it and it worked like a charm. The fix is exactly the same as in this thread.
Followed the guide to rollback from vns-l31c432b336 to b161 and worked flawlessly: just to give more details on the installation progress, if you see an error message during data erase in the first dload installation, don't mind it, reboot and proceed to next step, if you did follow exactly what the OP says, you will have no problem with last installation!
Thanks a lot for the tutorial, saved me lot of time and efforts!
Thanks!
works perfect!

I'm kinda sick of EMUI not letting me use some normal Google features, so I wanted to know whether or not you could flash a Google stock ROM from their website.
Do these ROMs only work with Nexus devices or do they work with any device? Would it be a good idea to flash 7.1.1 directly from Google? Thanks.
Only works with Nexus devices.
No it is a catastrophic idea to try to flash them on a incompatible not listed as compatible device. You will run into a plethora of issues.
