Need help installing Stock ATT Rom - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I am trying to install the official ATT Rom on my unlocked Note 9 SM-N960U1. I downloaded a rom and loaded it into Odin but every time I hit start it fails immediately. I need the features of an ATT phone because I live in a bad reception area and my micro cell keeps being reset on me. I am just tired of not having wifi calling and the other features. How do I find the correct version of the ATT SM-N960U that will work on my SM-N960U1?

You will not find At&t firmware as they do not post the U firmware. You can use any U firmware..Comcast..USC..Xfinity..Tmobile, they are all the same. As long as you have an At&t sim the firmware will provision. Make sure you are using the correct Odin and you have to flash the same firmware version the matches your current bootloader version. Meaning if your current bootloader is S4 or U4 you can't go backwards to S3 or U3 you can only flash the same or higher.

I am using the patched odin you recommended in another post. This is my bootloader N960U1UES5ETH3. So I need an S5 any carrier? Will this one work, N960USQS5ETH5 it is a T-mobile one. This is the one I have been trying N960USQU1ARG6 it says it is ATT. This is why I am confused. Thanks for your reply.

Yes that will work. You can't downgrade bootloader

Can I load 920F firmware on 920A phone?

I currently have 920A with newest OTA 7.0.
I downloaded 920F ILO 7.0 from sammobile, but it has only one file. I'm using Odin 3.12.7 and when I put the one MD5 file in the AP section (I leave the rest of the sections blank) it fails.
What am I missing? I'm wanting to use a stock unlocked firmware to remove the ATT bloatware.

It wont work cuz the firmware you are trying to flash is not for the device you are trying to flash to. att s6 has a locked boot loader and only tethered root options available last time i checked.

Is this true across the board? I also have a 920V with verizon's bloatware on it. So I won't be able to flash to an unlocked firmware like 920F to get a 'clean' OS?
idk on the 920v. i dont have one so i have not followed the forum for that device. as far as flashing a different devices firmware to a device not meant for it. its generally a bad idea. id look for answers in that devices specific page.

Doesn't this thread prove otherwise?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...m-tar-gs7e-unlocked-model-rom-update-t3412265
I realize that is for an S7 edge on Sprint network but isn't the concept the same?
its not for att. it wont work on an att s7 device. Att devices dont get love for most part. its a stock firmware from samsung that doesnt have carrier bloatware. for vzw, spr or tmo from the thread itself based off the unlocked usa model.. your device has a locked bootloader. so even finding the (6920f) firmware and flashing anything but samsung firmware for that device (6920a) is going to a. fail in odin or b. brick that phone. its your device. what you do is on you.

Need help. Oreo back to Nougat but...

I have a N950W (canadian model). Origina firmware BRA5 (latest Canadian release)
Used Odin to BRA8 then update to CRA5. Works good, however I need to go back to official Canadian release and I think it may not be possible since its BRA5?
Does BRA5 and BRA8 have different version bootloader?
Can I somehow downgrade to BRA8 but have the model go back to N950W and be recognized as a Canadian device? I am missing some needed carrier options.
Thank you for reading.
I did the exact same thing you did. Turned my W into a U model. I believe we were on 3BRA5, 3 being bootloader 3. That would mean you can flash back with no issues.
CRB5 is working great for me, but I did lose VoLTE and Samsung Pay on my Telus version (after I flashed it to a U).
Someone else chime in and correct me if I am wrong, but you should be able to flash back to W software any time without issue, as long as it's a bootloader version 3 version.

Yeah the lack of VoLTE is killing me at work. I can't flash BRA5 (I think bootloader is older). I am thinking I can maybe flash BRA8 with Canadian CSC and that will bring it back to N950W. I'm not sure though. Can someone confirm?

I just double checked. It's 3BRA5. That's bootloader 3, so you should be able to flash back to 3BRA5 with no issues. Again, a second opinion would be good. I don't want to be responsible for you bricking your Note, lol.
I don't think you can change the CSC of BRA8 to a Canadian CSC, as the multi CSCs in BRA8 are for USA carriers only.

How I remembered it as is Comsy Odin is for going to a non-carrier U1 firmware, while regular odin is for going back to a carrier firmware.
Comsy --> U1 Firmware > Success
Comsy --> Carrier Firmware > Fail
Regular Odin --> Carrier Firmware > Success
Regular Odin --> U1 Firmware > Fail

ATT Note 8 on Verizon MVNO (Total Wireless) no 4G/LTE

I have a ATT Note 8 that I got the unlocked (with a the unlock code from ATT) and I have activated it on Total Wireless. I have been able to get the 3G, voice and texting to work, but I can't seem to get the 4G to work. I thought that it should work straight away, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It is a SM-N950U with firmware version N950USQU4CRF3. I tried to Odin flash the verizon firmware, but I could not get it to take (Odin refused/failed.)
If anybody could help me with this, I would appreciate it.
i have unlocked att note8, it works fine on LTE with Verizon Prepaid, 40$ for 6gb LTE data.
you have to flash a Verizon firmware with bootloader 4.
i like the unlocked firmware better, it has LTE+ to shows it connected to LTE Advanced and build in caller ID.
If you could link me to the correct firmware, that would be awesome!
here's the unlocked firmware.

Which Odin did you use?
Comsey Odin or regular Odin?
Did you read the op of that link he gave you?
What's your bootloader version? Does it match or higher then the one you are flashing?
Bootloader version is the 5 number from the right of the baseband version number in about phone/software info.

I was trying to use the patched Odin 3.13 as well as Prince Comsy's Odin (both fail). The guide didn't really describe the firmware version I was running, so it was a bit hard to understand. I have bootloader 4. I have tried the firmware he linked to and I tried the latest Verizon firmware downloaded from SamFirm. Looking at the name of the firmware files, they are bootloader 4.
Thank you
I was finally able to get it to flash using a friends computer. Unfortunately all of the att stuff is still on the phone, I still have no access to 4g lte.

AT&T S10 flash stock firmware from XAA

I flashed my AT&T S10 SM-G973U to XAA after unlocking to for use on T-Mobile. I can't seem to flash it back to stock, I always get an error usually after abl portion of Odin flashing. I am sure if I am using an incorrect Odin or what. Can some please guide me in the correct direction?

You mean you want to downgrade?
Actually it's kinda impossible, Samsung forbids flashing firmwares prior to the last security patch, no changes will be made.
I wouldn't say necessarily downgrade, but to flash my phone back to AT&T branded firmware like it was when I got it. I know that when I do a SIM card change yes it does change the firmware and branding but it's still XAA

Did you have any issues changing your AT&T S10 into XAA ? I'm planing to do exact this.
What gets me is, you can't find AT&T firmware anywhere except on shady looking, but legit pay sites so you pay for it when it should be free like all the other carriers firmware.

At&t firmware you have to pay for. Yes you can flash another carrier firmware using patched Odin.
You just need to change csc to att which you can do using *#272*IMEI#
No need to flash new firmware

Kies is for older Samsung devices, Smart Switch is for newer Samsung devices.

Now somewhere i read that bootloader must be unlocked in order even to begin thinking of flashind the device, dont know how accurate that is... Id like to ask the Owner of the post, if he was able to make it, to update his firmware. And if so did he indeed succeded from the link above from ep1kku ?

No, the bootloader does not need to be unlocked before flashing if you are flashing stock software, unlocked bootloader is required to flash custom software, not stock software. There are some manufacturers that require unlocking bootloader even when flashing stock software but Samsung is not and probably never will be one of them.
You can flash your device with stock firmware any time you want, provided that the firmware is not a firmware that is older than your currently installed firmware and if the firmware is for your model number or an equivalent variant of your device with a similar model number and the same CPU series.

You can boot into download mode and it should say whether the firmware is "official" or "custom".
As I said, you can flash stock firmware provided that the firmware that you are flashing is not older than your current firmware, you can't downgrade the firmware, you can only flash an equivalent firmware to what is already on the device or a newer, updated firmware. Your error may be due to this. For all Samsung firmware, the 5th character from the right in the build number is referred to as the binary version. Your currently installed firmware has a "3" for the binary version, this means you can only flash a firmware that also has a binary 3 or you can flash a firmware that has a number higher than 3 but you can not flash a firmware that has a binary that is lower than 3(you can not flash a binary 1 or 2 firmware).
Depending on the specific error that you got, this could be your issue. What was the specific error that you got?

When using Odin, in the box that shows the flashing process, it should say exactly which error you are getting. When I asked what error you are getting, I was not asking "why" you are getting the error, I'm asking what it says in that box. Post the exact name of the error. Try to flash the device, while it is flashing, watch the dialog box in Odin, when it gives the error, take note of exactly what the error is, you can scroll up and down within the box and read all of the output data in that field.
Yes, it could be due to being from a different region but I doubt it. It could also be because your device is a Snapdragon version but the firmware that you are trying to flash could be for a Exynos version instead, or vice versa.

You still aren't telling me the SPECIFIC error that you are getting in the dialog box in Odin. That has been the most important question to understand your issue but you keep dodging it. Flash the firmware, watch for the error, take note of exactly what error it says it is, then post exactly what it says the error is. If you can't post that then there is no point in replying.
If you are trying to flash the device in a different region, you may not need to flash the whole firmware from the different region, you may be able to flash just the modem.img from the alternative firmware. To do this, extract the firmware, find the modem.img then convert that modem.img into an Odin flashable .tar using 7zip with its highest level of compression, then flash the modem.img.tar via Odin.

Strange, your screenshot doesn't show an error, it just stops without giving an error.
I'm assuming that your firmware came in multiple parts with some CSC files? If so, try flashing without using the CSC files.
