Do you still need Magisk Canary build to root Android 11? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hello,
Recently, my Pixel 4XL started showing me notifications saying that I should update to Android 11 soon.
I was afraid to use Magisk Canary since it's not official and still has some bugs.
Do you still need Magisk Canary build to root Android 11?
If not, is there a guide that shows how?
Thanks,
TY53

For what it's worth, I've been running canary since it became available. Middle of 2018...
Yes it's a test bed, yes it's had blips that were fixed quickly. No I've never once lost use of my phone because of it.

Thank you for answering ,
I'll read more about the Canary version and see if I am fine with the risk.
I just don't want to lose my phone, but it keeps sending notifications saying that my system is outdated and I need to update.

Is Magisk game over on Oneplus 3T?

ROM - SultanXDA CM 13 unofficial.
Hi All,
Is Magisk 13.2 still passing safetyNet on oneplus 3T? For me, since the latest 13.2 today, the safety net is failing.
whatever, i did, didnt restore the situation back. Though i am not much concerned for the safetynet here, still wondering why it is failing.
Is anyone got this problem in N ROMs?
Note:
I have downgraded from OOS N beta10 to CM13 MM on my OP 3T for few reasons like, BT issues with car kit, VoLTE call issues, etc..
Edit:
Culprit was the Xposed framework. My mistake.
Once the Xposed disabled, i got safetynet passed again.
Thanks guys.

It was falling with 13.1 yesterday twice.. had to reboot to fix it..
13.2.. is working for now... On beta10

That might be a CM issue rather than a Magisk-OP3T issue...
I have not had a single (not with MagiskHide at least) issue on any version of Magisk with my OP3T (OOS, currently 4.1.6).
I also got no issue with the offcial version 13.2 using ob10 on my 3t.
Only once got a problem with passing on the beta
The problem most likely comes from your ROM. SafetyNet passes on my end with Magisk 13.1 and 13.2. Using the Ressurection Remix ROM.
Not sure about the ROM issue. The safetynet check passed before on the same ROM. Let me reflash the ROM and magisk again for test.

Yeah, on OB10, it was working fine for me. I have used OB10 with magisk 13.1, which passed.

Issue is resolved. Disabling Xposed solved the issue.

Try that. It should work.
5.0.5 is faulty and no modules and zips are installed with that

Hi Guys,
I been using this device for more than 2 weeks. After i unlocked this, I attemted to intall twrp, xiaomi.eu rom and magisk. Twrp works but magisk 18.1 isnt. So i decided to look for fix on how to install magisk 18.1 over xiaomi.eu. Glad that I found in the xiami.eu thread similar case as mi mix3 and one kind person shared this magisk 18.1 link and able to test it. And it worked.
I also tested Magisk 18.2 by ianmacd which is currently installed in my rn7.
So to cut thing short. Below is the latest working magisk versions for our redmi note 7.

Do you have the thread that describes what the issue is? I would like to pass as much information along to the developer of Magisk as possible so they can fix it in their next update

I dont have like that mentioned exactly what happened. But i guess the developer can look at the flash zip file and compare against the official flash file.
But based on my reasearch, i dont know if this help, mi mix 3 and redmi note 7's system partition is at /system_root/system path.
thanks!!

I saw it somewhere that the latest miui is just not compatible with the latest magisk, so I ended up using magisk 17.3, it has everything I need and I hardly noticed any difference
I have mix 3 n rn7, when I saw the issue with rn7, having similar architecture of memory...I flashed same modded magisk 18.1 for mix 3 n it worked with magisk manager 7 ofc

Magisk canary update enhancement for Mi 9?

As I've seen in the link below, there was just a Magisk update, supporting system-as-root properly now.
Since the mi 9 does use that partition set up, does the update bring any enhancement for our device?
Thanks in advance!
Have a nice day!

Magisk update and Android 11?

Hello everyone,
I just received a new Magisk update. Does it mean that I don't need Canary for android 11 anymore? Since there's a new version?
I am just afraid to root with Canary, heard stories and don't want to take the even bigger risk.
Thanks
I'm currently on canary with 11. Having no issues.vehat are you referring to?

You are still on 10, waiting?? Pretty sure you will still need canary to root 11. What does the changelog say on your stable version? Until it says "supports Android 11" you'll still need to use the canary version which by the way is quite safe if you are using pretty much any mainstream phone. There is no risk at all. Use canary to patch the stock boot image. Put both in the same folder. Flash the patched image. If you don't have immediate success, you simply flash the stock boot.img and you are back to stock. Any stories you heard are just that... stories.

The new Stable Magisk Manager (8.0.0) is fine to use on Android 11. The latest Beta Magisk (21.0) is also fine to use on Android 11. Both were just updated to be Android 11 compatible. Soon the Beta Magisk will be moved to the Stable channel once any bugs (if any) are worked out.
By the way, the latest Canary also works fine on Android 11.
Installation instructions and documentation have been updated. https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
Thanks for answering ?. I'll see if it says supports android 11. Yes I was on 10 waiting, root is a small risk, but Canary is a bigger one that I didn't want to take. Hopefully it supports it and I can root to Android 11.
By the way, do you know if the Soli motion sense module works with Android 11?
Thanks in advance

The latest Beta does support Android 11. https://twitter.com/topjohnwu/status/1312342107139440640
Make sure you set the channel in the Manager to Beta.
I don't know anything about the Soli motion sense module..

It's ready to go now. Latest version 21 (MM v8.0.0) stable supports 11. I don't use the Soli module so can't comment on that.

NEED HELP REVERTING TO PREVIOUS MAGISK VERSION AND FLASH

Hi,
I know MagiskHide is going away, and I am planning to upgrade to the Pixel 6 Pro in the next 1-2 weeks.
However, my Pixel 4 XL is still rooted on Android 11.
I opened Magisk last night and saw that there was an update and updated to:
Magisk: d7e7df3b (23010)
App: d7e7df3b (23010)
When I did this, Magiskhide and SafetyNet Check were completely removed. i know this will probably be inevitable in the future, but can anyone ptovide me link to the previous Magisk flash and app version, so I can reverse everything?
As of now, I can no longer use Android Pay and many of my previously hidden apps will no longer run.

If you are referring to the latest stable version, 23.0, it's in his Github.

Thanks.....so I'm planning to revert back to 23.0 and then use 23.0 to repatch the stock boot.img. Hoping that will restore Magiskhide and everything I had before the update.
At this point, I am planning to stick with Android 11 and just want to reverse the upgrade from last night.
Really appreciate your help.
You can try Magisk Alpha (t.me/magiskalpha)
It is a forked version of Magisk by one of its former lead developers. It has option to choose between zygisk and magisk hide. I tested it on Pixel 4 XL and 6 Pro where it was able to pass safetynet checks.
