Redmi 4X - configure the phone without access to the current Mi account - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

I borrowed an Xiaomi Redmi 4X from a friend of mine. Need to configure it as a temp phone since my primary one is about to be sent on a warranty. The Redmi had a Mi account configured and a lot of personal stuff was on this mobile, so I did a factory wipe. Now the phone wants me to login to a Mi account when I boot it, even before a configuration screen appears.
As I said, the phone is not stolen or does not come from an "uncertain" source. It's my friend's old phone (his wife's actually, not even sure she knows he gave it to me, heh). Supposedly she's unlikely to remember her Mi account password, but it's likely that the Mi account this phone is linked to is also being used by a newer Xiaomi phone she's currently using (so that seems to be closing an option of her providing me credentials to the Mi account "my" phone uses as I would also get access to her current phone).
The goal here would be to "free" this phone from the current Mi account so that I'm able to set the phone up without influencing the existing account that the phone seems to be linked to.
The best approach would be not to take time of my friend (or his wife) at all to reset some passwords, generate unlock codes and so on. So I'd be happy to simply flash the phone with whatever needs to be flashed and be done with it. Event found some links on the forum, but not sure about those programs a) working, b) being malicious-stuff free.
Alternatively I could ask my friend to do some magic on his side (ie. generate some unlock codes) but only if that would not take a lot of his time and is a simple, one-time-only operation.
What I tried so far was to reset the phone while holding volume and power buttons, enter recovery mode and do a full factory wipe (did that a few times actually). Unfortunately, it had no positive effect.
So, guys, help me out, please. What are the options here? Thanks!

Bump. Anyone?

As far as I know, the Mi account setting can be bypassed. My wife has Redmi 6A, then this phone is handed to my daughter. I do factory reset, skip Mi account setting and everything runs like usual.

And how do you do the Mi account setting skipping? The screen I see seems not to allow such option:

Before performing a factory wipe it was necessary to log out from the Mi account, now you have a paperweight on the table if you forgot username+password...

Well that I didn't know ;D I had the passcode to the phone, so was able to unlock it and so on, but didn't log out before wiping. Damn. So what are the options here? Any way to flash it or do some "deep" wipe of sorts? Or do I need to engage this friend of mine in resettting the password to the Mi account (or to do something similar)?

OEM deactivated in gray, How can I root without TWRP?

I need help. Unlock My Max 64 GB, then I wanted to install TWRP and made brick. Install the world room and China and at the beginning the OEM was normal, then unlock my computer because when I installed the ROM it was blocked, and the OEM became gray again with no option to modify. Will there be a solution?
Or how can I root without doing TWRP?
You can't. And why wouldn't you use TWRP if you already want to root your phone?

If you have unlocked your bootloader, then i don't see the reason why TWRP flashing wouldn't be possible. Can you post me a screenshot of CMD when you are trying to flash TWRP, i want to see what error are you getting there.

Hi. The first time I unlocked my cell phone receiving confirmation from Xiaomi and I did it successfully. I installed the twrp also successfully and the minute it made brick my cell phone. Then I installed a China Rom and a global , both were stable. It showed me that it was blocked then I unlocked it with the same program that Xiaomi sent me to the mail through a link. after getting the unlock, towards the process of twrp administrator mode with all the drivers. the first times it came out that the installation of the twrp was successful, as it was shown in the CMD but it really was not successful. After a couple of days I went back and showed me a message saying that the .img image was not loaded. But the real problem I see is that the OEM is locked in gray with no option to change it, I think that's the reason. My phone says unlocked.

There are two main ways to flash files onto your phone: local and sideload. Most people are only familiar with local, but sideload is much quicker and easier if you are at a PC.
Sideload
Download the ZIP file(s) to your PC. In TWRP, select advanced and then sideload. Swipe the slider to begin, then on your PC run "adb sideload <filename>".
Local
Download and/or copy the ZIP file(s) to your phone. Note whether they are on internal storage (the default) or the sdcard. In TWRP, select install, find your file, and select it.

Well I went ahead and installed the rom and although the phone app is there, it refuses to make or receive calls with either AT&T or T-Mobile sim. Is this a hardware limitation of the device or just a missing library that will eventually be fixed? I may try the other rom tomorrow but I expect the results will be similar.
I'm not sure actually. I'm on puretalk and it won't call. But at last one other person outside the us had reported success.

So this might be an issue with my device, because I was having the same issue with Lineage OS yesterday and switched to AOKP to see if it resolved it. However I'm having an issue where no matter what I set the display timeout to it always turns the screen off at 15 seconds.

I'm sorry for your struggle dude. I hope you find a fix soon. If there's any way I can help let me know.
Xiaomi really needs to get their stuff together and focus more on their "flagship" mi 8 rather than poco for now.

You can download here : http://bigota.d.miui.com/9.1.10/miui_MI8Global_9.1.10_e00f5f08da_9.0.zip
But face unlock doesnt work, so I decide to try PE rom today
Face unlock is region locked(another case of Xiaomi being retarded) so the fix is to change region setting.
No downsides
Hi, im facing same problem. With new display my mi8 stuck in mi logo.
So, what is your configuration when flashing it? With new lcd or with old one?
Thanks
Mine too just use latest beta global rom. It works.
If anyone is wondering, my phone booted correctly after flashing with the current ROM (dipper_global_images_V10.2.1.0.PEAMIXM_20190110.0000.00_9.0_global_4d02fd6c97.tgz), downloaded from here, via fastboot. Earlier versions would result in a bootloop at the Mi logo after I had replaced my screen.
Just a quick update.
The latest Miui Global Rom (V10.3.3.0.PEAMIXM) can't boot on my phone, and I have to stick with the previous (V10.3.2.0 PEAMIXM) for now. It doesn't loop, just gets stuck at the initial Mi screen; this also happens if the bootloader is locked and updated via OTA.
Official TWRP versions also can't boot, but TWRP by LR Team (from here) works.
Lineage OS 16 bootloops.
I'm not exactly sure why replacing the broken display causes this, or what I can do to try figure out what the problem is; but I thought someone else might find this information useful.

Over the last week, I tried xiaomi.eu stable rom.
EU 10.3.3 would boot; but EU 10.3.4 would not (in the same way that Global 10.3.3 does not boot).
Still unable to understand why changing the broken display would result in this behavior, and what I can do to overcome it. =(
I suspect a driver issue. With Device Info HW app can you confirm that your display model (LCM) is dci_ss_ea8074_notch_fhd_cmd_display? Touchscreen is also fts.
I have the screen that you say and I present the same problem as the partners.

there you go, I'm not the only one who is wondering !!! and yes it is sold in the Characteristics of the device on amazon and on the realme site, but when you buy the device in europe there are hardly any gaming options! is yes me that crazy the nerves! in fact I tested several version of game space is they seem that for activated all game space functions must be connected to their realme account, except that on European devices they cannot associate a realme account with their x2 pro tealme! so all those who come to say that these because of the compatibility of the games is false! I noticed that many have trouble hearing that, we can criticize realme because they love their phone too much but there is a time when you have to know how to say things is that even if it does not please everyone. I said that because jd ran into people like that several times.
So do like me sent an email to [email protected] because otherwise nothing will change! I do not even understand that since the number of updates this still has not been Corrected! We can also notice that China received a new option on the play area when nothing had been changed yet For us

So today I decided that i want to install custom rom on my poco m3 pro so i went to [GUIDE] how to install gsi... (i already have experience flashing custom rom back in my redmi note 8) I followed all the instructions there, i was just at the beginning like installing fastboot drivers etc etc i follow the video right there and did exactly whats in the video. I was only about to try to unlock my bootloader since it isnt unlock yet but then as i was finish with the fastboot drivers video followed smoothly the vid didnt encounter a single error not until i tried to reboot my device (normal reboot) booting shows but dm verity corruption shows until that ive been trying all fixes i can find here in xda nothing worked ( this is newly bought phone i just bought it on my birthday april 11 i hope someone can help me fix it, im willing to pay if it needed
i also tried flashing vbmeta thru fastboot but it says it cannot because my device is still in locked state
Do fastboot flashing unlock

Yeah you need to unlock the bootloader with the official method and with ur mi acc, you don't need ur number if you have a password
You can sign in with ur mi acc, or any linked acc to sign into it
