Free 6 month premium Spotify? - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to activate the free 6 month Spotify subscription that was supposed to come with these phones? It's supposed to be an option on the "premium" tab on the app, but it's not showing up on mine. I tried reinstalling the app. I have never had Spotify before.
Edit: The Youtube premium free trial worked fine.

Yeah, same for me. Youtube trial worked fine, Spotify just has 1-month trial. Never had spotify, and tried linking the new spotify account to my samsung account when logging in.

Music beta

Has anyone got the music beta working on their hd2? I can access it just fine from my computer and my xoom but not from my phone. Is there something I'm missing?

music sync from phone
hi Same here
i've just received acceptation for music beta invitation, and I've been able to upload music from my laptop to my google music account.
I can now listen to music through my google account via web browser (laptop and phone)
The only probleme is that I can't manage to get access to this cloud from the music app (the new one) on my HD2.
note : There's no option in my google account manager for google music (like picasa, mail or contacts)
note 2 : would that trouble come from the fact that I'm in france ?
I haven't tried to access through the browser, will give that a shot now. I'm guessing that we will have app access after the beta. I hope anyways

I uninstalled the music app from my hd2 then installed app from music beta website(directed me to google web app site). Music app on phone then worked. Hit menu settings to access music on computer. Hope this helps.
I have it on my HD2 it took like 36 hrs after being invited for the app on my phone to actually connect with the cloud servers, now works great!!
Heed Beergenius
Try what beergenius suggested. I installed the Music Beta app to my phone prior to getting the invitation. Once I received the invitation and uploaded all my music I was still unable to access it from phone. I looked under my account sync and there was no music option. Uninstalled Music app and reinstalled. All my music instantly appeared and when looking under account sync, music checkbox was now available.

Spotify?

Anyone nab a Spotify? It's an awesome music streaming service. Also, maybe this could be a little G+ - Spotify trade off thread. Like someone has a G+ and not a Spotify and someone has a Spotify but not a G+. Also, if anyone could confirm the Spotify Android app working on the Nook (I can't test, my Nook is not with me).
There is an easy workaround at Gizmodo on how to get around the lack of an invite. You basically use a proxy to fool the UK spotify site into signing you up for.a free account and then you switch back to US and edit your profile. All the steps are easy to follow.
BTW, spotify itself invites new users, not the new users themselves (Ala Google+)
I took a look at Spotify earlier today. Maybe I'm missing it, but what's everyone so excited about? It looks like Pandora/Slacker mixed with a dash of Google Music for good measure.
The G+ streams are all atwitter about Spotify tonight.
$10/mo for mobile app use makes it DOA for me.
I'd do the free service or maybe the $5/mo if it had mobile app support, but I'm not even going to bother for $10/mo.
The main "advantage" of spotify seems to be the ability to offload the music for when you don't have wifi and the ability to stream your own music from your PC. Since the NC doesn't have 3G, the mobile app isn't really all that limited with the free service except when you are somebody else's wifi.
I haven't messed with it too much but I wonder if you set up a VPN back to your home network whether you can stream that way.
I do like the way you can make playlists for streaming.
Been using spotify since it was released in sweden 3-4 years ago. It's awesome in every way. Completely replaces any kind of illegal and legal way of getting music. If only a similar service of the same quality would come for movies and series...

Right. The only problem is that I have a Free account and no upgrading for me..

Chrome Extension Disappeared From Youtube

Hi, so far using Google Chrome and loving it, one of the best $35 ever spent!!:laugh:
I've been having an issue with the Youtube App on iOS (I know this is mostly an Android based forum..), the Chrome Extension has disappeared..- It was working fine until 2 days back, I tired reinstalling the App but nothing works! Please help.
FYI incase this is important, the standby wallpapers still come on the TV so I'm hoping everything on that front is fine, plus it still works on my laptop + youtube on the laptop. I just need it to work on the iOS as that is what I use it for most.
Many thanks!
Not sure if this is relevant to your situation. But, the only time I've noticed the chromecast icon in YouTube disappearing was when my phone wasn't on Wi-Fi or not seeing my network properly.
YMMV

Make sure your YouTube application is updated. With the release of the Cast SDK a few weeks ago both Chromecast and many associated applications were updated.

Lost Background and offline play - Google Music All Access

I'm subscribed to Google play Music all access which is supposed to allow me to play youtube videos in the background and also allow me to save some videos to offline. I had this feature and now it's not working. The background and offline option is gone in youtube settings.
I uninstalled and reinstalled and made sure i'm logging in with the correct account. I checked my N7 and the same thing is happening there to. Anyone else experience this?

did you pay for all access or did you use the 6 month trial?

I pay for it but I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with it.

I deleted the google plus profile that was associated with it a couple of days ago. My music works fine, it's just the youtube music key portion that is not working.

TuneIn App

So I got the Pioneer 8100NEX setup last night. After flashing OxygenOS on my phone (BlissPop wouldn't work due to the DPI issue) I am up and running with Android Auto. However, when going through the music app option all I have is Google Music. The other main app I use for tunes and general listening is TuneIn which, while installed and apparently should work, is not showing up. I searched the settings for TuneIn and didn't notice anything obvious. Is this a Pioneer setting I am going to wait for or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!
I realize this is a dusty post, but did you ever get TuneIn to appear in AA? I'm having the same issue on my Nexus 6P.
Allow me to spray some Pledge/Endust on this topic as well. I have a Moto X Pure Edition running TruPureXMM 2.6 and I just purchased a 2016 Honda Civic EX with Android Auto built-in. Everything about it works great: Maps, Hangouts, Play Music with voice search, the whole thing. EXCEPT: similar to the posters above, when touching the Audio button to see other apps, the only app listed is Google Play Music. I should also note that I have multiple Auto-compatible audio apps in addition to TuneIn Radio Pro; I also have BeyondPod, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. None of them appear. Google support is non-existent at this point, which is a little unsettling as more and more carmakers are offering stock options with Android Auto.
I'm not any kind of expert, but I'm wondering if this is a side effect of having a rooted and/or custom ROM installed. Mine is stock based for my phone but it is rooted and I see that the OP had a custom ROM as well. I don't know what you are running @monorailmedic. Any information or assistance from someone who has experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Do you have any adblock app running on your phone?

Curiouser and curiouser. I will mention that I tried disabling USB Debugging and that did not have any effect.

Disabling AdAway had no effect. However, I believe I have resolved the issue.
I mentioned that I have TuneIn Radio Pro, but I did not mention that I got it through the Amazon App Store rather than Google Play. (It was a free app of the day many moons ago.) I installed the regular version of TuneIn from the Play Store and...voila, it appeared in Auto. Same thing with the other apps - I had installed them outside of Google Play, and apparently Auto doesn't like that. Reinstalling through the Play Store got me up and running.
I don't know if that scenario is also your issue @monorailmedic, but mine has been resolved this way.

I too got the Pro version from Amazon years ago when it was a freebie. I'll try downloading the version from the Play Store in the morning. I wrote to TuneIn today, so if this is the issue, it'd be swell if they provided me the key to the newer pro version via the Play Store.

In fact, I mentioned a possible block because IMHO the apps for Android Auto can't work if they aren't able to contact the Google Play store for license activation.

Interesting... Besides license validation of protected apps (which the dev controls) this is the first instance I recall hearing where sideloaded apps won't work.
Developers of AA compatible apps can't just sideload either, even just for testing. App has to go through Google Play as a special AA beta test.
Google requires that all AA compatible apps (and their updates) be tested by them and approved for not being distracting. This is part of their protection for that. Sideloaded or Amazon etc. apps can't be guaranteed to have gone through this testing. (Actually an MD5 of the APK or similar could be done, but that could be abused on rooted devices and Google prefers everything goes through Play anyway.)
So, how are you all using TuneIn? I've been immensely disappointed that there's no favorites/presets list available via AA. Nor is there even the recent stations list available. So, how in the world do you access the stations you want? The lists that are available seem really truncated and have only strange channels I've never heard of. I was able to use voice commands once but now that isn't working and one of my stations wasn't accessible that way either. So, the whole app seems to be essentially useless to me via the AA interface. Bluetooth streaming still works, but defeats the purpose and of course then there's no access to any of the other aspects of AA.

I too have the pro version from Amazon, which i got for free. In order to get it to work with Android Auto you have to install it using google play as the vendor. Same goes with other apps that you sideload
1. Install Tunein Pro from Amazon Store.
2. Save the apk installer file using es Explorer. hxxp://android.stackexchange.com/questions/75360/is-it-possible-to-backup-apk-from-an-installed-application
3. Uninstall Tunein Pro
4. Reinstall using ADB hxxps://pixplicity.com/setting-install-vendor-debug-app/
I tested it and it works
You can also "unblock" non-play store apps in AA. Open AA on your phone, then go to "information" then tap many times on the upper bar... it will reveal "developer options". Now tap on 3-dot menu and set developer mode. You should see more apps through car headunit.
