type c connector have nearly identical pins on both sides most probably there is broken pin in your device port on one side. replacing that port will ix the issue or keep using as it is.

[Q] Charging paused. Voltage too high

Info: Charging paused. Voltage too high
Couple of days back updated My GS Note to official ICS 4.03. Today morning, suddenly after removing charger, facing a problem. every few seconds it beep with message " Info: Charging paused. Voltage too high".
When I reconnect charger or USB, there is no issue at all. But after removing cable, the problem continues.
Not sure any other GS note user are facing same problem or not?
Shut down your phone and let it cool down may help

Shut down your phone remove the battery for some time (around half an hour). Also check there is no dirt in battery compartment or inside the charging port.
Flash any stock firmware if you are on any custom rom and take it to the nearest service center
There might be temporary fixes but permanent fixture would be to replace the usb docking port which need to be replaced...
hi bro,
happen to me n my friend as well. what i did is, clean the usb port. using a piece of paper, wipe clean the in between the connector.. also if the hair dryer is available, blow dry the port..
This happened to me earlier and it keeps bugging the hell out of me, then I remembered that earlier this morning I used my Pantech charging cradle before plugging it directly to the mini usb port and it started bugging me with the charging error....tried blowing on the port, using different chargers but when I tried using the pantech charging dock it stopped and charged normally.I guess this will have to do as of now
My friend had that happen to him because of dirty contacts on the phone/USB cable. Just blow it out good, or use a swab with alcohol to clean it.

I had this problem. There was a bit of pocket lint causing the issue. A swab with alcohol will do, but don't blow in there. Your breath has a lot of moisture in it. Those pins are sensitive and moisture can cause the "phantom car mode" issue.
Today I got this issue..
so I try to cleaning USB contact.
Hope this will help.
Thanks a lot..
isn't this because of some custom kernel that implemented some voltage changes?

Cleaning USB port worked
I removed the battery and used a little rubbing alcohol on a tiny brush (used to clean between teeth, a pickster). It rebooted and worked for a few minutes then the message came back.
Unfortunately I have seen this far too many times with Samsung phones. I once had a Skyrocket that had this issue, and then it wouldn't be recognized when plugged into the computer. Cleaned the port, used different cables, changed the rom etc. No dice.
My work phone (galaxy s2) started this yesterday. Then my Note was acting erratically while charged.
My best advise is to clean the port, and get another charger immediately. New cable/wall plug. My note is charging fine at home just not with the car charger (brand new Rocket fish). I'm lucky I caught it in time. Now my S2 is damaged.
I have also heard that the stock samsung chargers has a chip that detects when the phone is charged. Therefore using 3rd party chargers could therectically damage the phone.
Although I truely hate Apple phones, I think the 30 pin connector is far superior to micro USB. Too many problems.

I did a factory reset and the problem seems to have been solved.

It was the same for almost 3 weeks for me.. I bought "Charger Port Micro USB Connector Mic Flex Cable for Samsung Galaxy Note N7000" from ebay. This morning i received it. I replaced the part. Now it is perfect. Replacement this part is very easy. I bought it for 9 dolars.
This error is a hardware fault. So you have to replace the part. May be cleaning it solves the problem but it would be a temporary solution.
So you replaced the charging port on the note. It's good to know that is an option.
The cleaning of the USB port and then a full charge cycle using the Samsung original wall charger has fixed it for me. I have not had the error since.

hey
I'm having the same issue it looks like it really is the usb connector.
Anyway I don't have any warranty left so I'd like to give this a shot. Has this new charging port lasted? I hope it lasts longer than the one I got in my Note

Broken USB

My droid 3 usb xt862 is having charging issues. Doesnt charge at all
Or if you move the cable it charges
Its still under warranty but i live in outside USA
Do you think this problem is included under warranty?
Or how much you think it would kost for this kind of problem if warranty doesnt apply and i wanna doit my self
Well i think i will try warranty first

It's because the Motorola micro USB cable that comes with any Moto phone is a piece of ****. At least in Brazil. I have the same problem with the cable, but any other cable (from Nokia to generic ones) works better than it.

I concur with you.. Sadly that problem just started with another cable (nokia and some htc ones).. my piece of **** original moto cable got dumped since the begining. But this galsr contact hapens with any cable or charger :-(
I will send it to motorola and i hope its under warranty of not then locally ficit when it gets back

I am surprised the moto cables aren't working out for you guys. The ones that came with my phones in the US work great, and have yet to see one fail out of maybe a dozen I have used over that last few years. I even had some monoprice cables that went out before the Moto ones.
Anyway, if you have to fix it yourself, and were planning on soldering the piece, it looks like the kind that has to be done on a rework station, as the row of contacts looks to be hidden under the usb's shield.

unrelated to my problem
but well both my droid 3 come from US and both usb cables Died the first weeks
the best cables are from nokia. thats the one that most survived and i use now.
Indeed best cables are from Nokia. My Moto cable still works but it's not very good. It seems like a contact issue, the head of the cable is slightly smaller than the slot, making it loose in the phone. Both cables I owned had the exact same problem, with different phones (D2 & D3). But both of them worked very well with Nokia, LG or Samsung cables. It's the cable with a ECOMOTO tag.

[Q] Galaxy note charging issue - replaced charging port but still not fixed. help

Hi All,
I have read other threads and can not find answer so that is why i am creating this thread.
basic things to know...
1. Got my Galaxy Note (GN) off ebay. It came with the following major issue: "cannot be charged via laptop's usb port or wall socket"
2. GN does not have a custom rom. It is unlocked to any network. So, i am assuming it has a "stock rom". can someone tell me how to verify that?
3. I looked into various threads and ultimately decided to replace my usb charging port.
4. I should mention that before any replacement of parts whatsoever, i could see my device on windows and transfer files etc. via usb connection.
5. before and after replacement, it says its "charging" but nothing gets charged. If anything the battery level goes down. This suggests to me that there is an issue with charging circuitry somewhere? anyone can shed light on it?
6. Currently i am using an external charger to charge up my battery. Battery is fine as it gets charged up, just fine.
7. What other options do i have to find out the solution to my charging issues. Anything i can do to narrow down the issue further?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ebay is your best friend. You can change the charging usb port for less than 10 dollars. I bought mine from chinese supplier. The board cost me less than 9 dollars, shipped. It came within 2 weeks. You must open up your phone (8 tiny screws- see youtube video on how to open up n7000). The board comes out easily. You must check the revision on the usb port. Mine is 1.0. It also comes in 0.0, 0.8 and 2.0. I got the exact one with matching colors as the original part. I saw the same board in different revisions and with different colored boards. I got the same exact one, looking at the ebay picture. I was able to change my board in less than 10 minutes. problem solved.

I have already changed the usb port and the problem persists.
How much of an issue will it be if the revision number do not match up with original one?
i dont have tools infront of me so i cant check whether there is a direct match or not.
thanks for reply.

I think matching the revision is important. you must have your original part to verify which was the original revision. I have seen on threads where the revision was not matched and the part didn't help solve the problem.

Check if U607 and R619 are good, they are on the main board.
Download service manual to identify those parts and first check for bad solder joint.
I hqve the same priblem but i didnt check the part numbers gunna have a look for them now. In all honesty i thought it wouldnt matter as they may have been all the exact same

Whoah, seriously? Seems kinda like overkill. What I've heard most is having to hold the cable in 'just' the right position for it to charge, which doesn' t sound like a mainboard issue, since the charge port is connected via a ribbon block (and an antenna cable).
What's odd is that the charge port board on mine has this problem, but it is ROCK SOLID and the connector blade inside is totally clean. Pushing the plug down towards the back of the phone would, based on the physical layout of the internal USB pins, if anything, REDUCE contact pressure. It seems like this is a non-permanent problem and I SWEAR I saw an amazon post somewhere where a guy describes a simple physical mod that suddenly lets all normal charges work fine. Just can't find it...
I have a Samsung Note 2, same thing...not charging through the port, battery is good, charger is good, changed the charge port circuit and nothing...re installed the operating system, it's unlocked, rooted..works fine as long as I charge the battery externally...I have no idea what to do or which direction to go...any help...and I'll keep everyone posted as to the results of any suggestions...goo part is...I know how to get the thing apart....Blessings, As Always...
Same here - changed micro usb board and still not charging
Hi
I have the same problem. Have samd=sung galaxy note N7000 and suddenly stopped charging.
I changed the micro-usb port - it is the same version as the one inside. The mobile is still not charging! :crying:
Has anyone found a solution to this ?
even stranger
Have just noticed that the mobile charges fine in the car with the charger that originally caused the problem.
However it will charge with nothing else - neither USB port of PC not directly to wall socket.
Could the car charger have set it to charge at a higher voltage?

Hi all,
Sorry to revive an ageing thread but this still seems to be an issue at large.
I have a question:
I am a little confused. After seeing a number of these charge port PCB's on Ebay, some sellers are saying only for Rev 0.8 and others say nothing at all, yet in ALL the images from numerous sellers, the PCB's have Rev 1.0 written on them including my own N7000's charge port PCB.
Please could someone enlighten me?
Many thanks!
changed usb port after charging probs
Hi there,
I am having the same damn problem. After having charging probs and a loose connection, I decided to buy a new usb port and everything should be fine again. After replacing the port i tried to charge before installing the back case part and everything worked! But after putting the phone back into the case it went back to the problem like before replacing the port. It is loose and i cant get a pc connection to work.
So after disassembling it several times and reading forum posts in several boards i found this thread which has not the answer for the problem but some suggestions what could cause the problem.
I think it is not worth it to change the Motherboard too but if someone could test it that would help I think.
In another board someone wrote he had 3 port boards bought and they were all dead on arrival. So i believe this could also be the problem what do you think? Did anyone try different replacement parts from different shops?
And is yours charging if you do not install the backplate/backcase?
where did you buy the port? and is it same revision that was in their.
I think a new cable (proper quality) fixes it
that or pc driver reinstall

Hello,
Got a similar problem. Samsung note 1 (n7000) wasn't charging the battery. Holding the mini usb down was the trick.
I bought a new charging port and replaced it. The thing....it is charging now...but giving me: Emergency calls only!
Send back that part and got it replaced.... Just installed it and again: Emergency calls only...
It does show that it has reception. It's not due to my carrier as sim in another phone is working ok. Replacing the old part solves the problem.
If anyone has an idea how to solve this problem.....PLEASE let me know.

try these:

Open up the phone again. and check the screws that hold down the usb port
the speaker is attached to the plastic cover on top of the usb port. it is not making contact with the right points.
try it whilst the phone is on, play a audio or video file and hold down that part with your fingers. u will see that it will work.
meaning that the screws are either loose or too tight and not properly aligned.

Hello,
Yes, I should have mentioned that. Same revision. Connectors seem to be in the same place.
Please check picture. The one above is the original and the one with the white sticker is the replacement part.
Thanks for your response!

Micro USB port durability

Hi All
I have this OCD that I'm going to damage the Micro USB port when inserting or removing the cable. Is the port durable? And should I just not worry about it?
In note 4, it will get loose and you need you find position that charges the phone.
Well using the app "phone info" on my rooted note 4 I can tell you I have connected a usb lead 712 times in the last year and I have no looseness or connection issues whatsoever.
No the most scientific of responses I know, but hopefully it will give you an idea.

I don't know I've abused the port a lot, plugging in at night, moving it around quite carelessly too, then I also flooded it with water once accidentally, after a few hours of weirdness it still works great, not loose or anything
edit: charger connect counter: 1113

My phone has been plugged in charging many a time in our living room and my Mrs has caught the charger lead with her foot and launched the phone across the room! Lol never had any adverse effects on the micro usb connection.

If you've got a dodgy connection, replace the lead. They're cheap (much cheaper than trying to replace the socket)
My experience is that most micro USB leads are good for a couple of hundred connections or so.
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I really appreciate it soo much. I now will charge my phone worry free.
I charge wireless to save a little wear and tear on mine.
Still have connected 1108 times and 707 for spen. Spen is a little loose.

It is much better than Mini-USB standard, which usually get broken in mid-long use.
My Micro-USB port is working very fine in my Note 4. Charged around 800 times.
almost 2000 count on my phone
and still work fine
800 times, no problem.
FYI, the MicroUSB standard states a design lifetime of 10000 cycles. The weakest parts are on the cable side.

Is it easy to replace the USB port ?

USB C connection adapter for Note 9 on SM-R325

Hi all,
So I'm aware that the SM-R325 needs to have replacement USB C connector to fit the Note 9, but what are the actual difference between the standard USB C and the one that Samsung sends you after you request it?
It looks to me that the Note 9 is just a tad too wide, so cutting out the light grey rubber would solve that issue? Thoughts?
I have used my N960N on my SM-R325 without the adapter and it fits in just fine, without any issues.
