Lately I was flashing mi3 trough fastboot on w7ulti64bit when something went wrong and now its cold dead.
I have been looking for solution everywhere and as usual xda is my last resort for help with phones, usually I found here what I was looking for but this time it is first time when I have to post new threat.
So basically I found that battery controller had some cold soldier on chip, whole module gives 0v while cell itself 2,8v so I think I fixed it since now whole battery module shows 3.3v and cell itself 3.8v after charging.
But im unable to wake up phone in to fastboot or any other way to reflash it.
When connected to 2000mAh charger there is solid red light, when connected to PC it lit for a second then goes off and PC recognizes mi3 as USB input device and HID compliant device.
I have tried to update drivers for those devises so miflash would recognize it and allow to flash it but without any success.
Any idea what else I could do with it, or how to force flash to flash at least boot sector?

Try mi flash tool
Main problem is that I have tried all 3 miflash I could found 2.11.6 20131108 20140509 and none of them recognizes device and I can't even initiate flashing process ;/
it sounds like a driver issue. just download all the drivers you can find for your phone.

r u following correct procedure for using MI flash tool ?
is ur Phone able to boot to FLash mode ( turn phone off > Press volume + Key then Press Power on - it will show flash mode )
Now Open MI Flash tool > Press Refesh > it will show phone now ( a number will b shown instead of name Xiamo Mi3)
Now Extract Fastboot rom to C Drive ( it should look like this C:\ROM (Location should not cointain space)
Now click Browse > advance > select C:\ROM\Folder\ select bat file
Its not drivers issue since its get detected as QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 or QUALCOMM HS-USB Diagnostic 9006 depending of its state.
In QDLoader it is recognized by miflash as COM20 device and I can upload by miflash or qpst boot image, then it switches to diagnostic that is recognized by some sort of string and I can upload/proceed with rest of rom flashing that includes creating partitions and writing data to them.
Main problem is that when its successfully flashed it is still cold dark, while PC can see it and all partitions like 28 of them...
And I think its related to the fact that qpst reports phone as in download mode.
Any idea how to exit that mode, like in Mi2 that was forced to enter "service" by shortening some pins to put it download mode to flash cold dead ones?

Kinda wasted a lot of Mine and Yours time and some of my money
If You got any other ideas since that time how to resurrect it just let me know.
Any solution?
Is there any solution to this problem? My phone has been cold brick for 3 days now. Doesnt boot up or charge up. Detected on connecting to PC with a sound, but Shows as Com 10 or 20 on Miflash and thus cannot be flashed.
Cannot boot into fastboot as well.
Anyone anything?

You can check the steps I took for recovering from a similar problem here: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=22811
If you have any other questions, tag me on your reply and i'll try my best to help.
hello, i have hard brick at my mi8 .
When i try to press the power button the phone doesn't boot, If i try to go into recovery mode it doesn't boot and same for fastboot mode.
The screen is unresponsive (no backlight) and it doesn't vibrate. When i connect the phone to my computer it is automatically recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5) which correspond to the EDL mode (i think).
When try to flash any rom with miflash i get the error " cannot receive hello packet.
Can anyone help me ?:crying:

Likely you have too much power coming from your usb ports, use a usb hub such as this: https://www.amazon.com/BYEASY-Porta...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
Now try Mi Flash again, make sure that the lock bootloader (which is checked by default) is unchecked.
Now it should work, be sure that you are using a fastboot rom and not a recovery rom. ( a recovery rom will not work)
Make sure that it is a fast boot for your device : If you have a global device here is a link with quite a few fastboot roms :https://c.mi.com/thread-1899815-1-0.html
If you still have trouble let me know, and tell me specifically how you arrived at your brick, I helped someone with this exact issue a couple of weeks ago, and I was going to link you to that thread. But i can't find it at the moment.
I get the same error " cannot receive hello packet" with hub USB.
MY xioami mi 8 is global version, i unlock the bootloader and make a downgrade with twrp to a older version of stable rom, and when the phone start ,its all ok and login my mi account, and the phone goes down and never more boot. Always in the pc i get qualcom port (edl mode) . Sorry for my bad english.:crying:
I think i need account with EDL authorization to flash any rom. And i can't found anyone to save me..
Try https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/how-to/unbrick-mi8-edl-authorized-account-t3896677

Was following a guide to root my Note 8 Snapdragon and it told me to flash combination os, did so and you can tell what happened after, i can do absolutely nothing, can't go into recovery mode, download mode, nor even turn on the phone, shows no signs of life besides a extremely fast flicker when trying to go into download mode after like 30 seconds of holding, please help. I need answers, if its bricked, broken, or all of the above.
Can you link the guide?
That may be a sign that the bootloader is busted.
There's still Hope. Qualcomm-powered devices (like yours) have an EDL Mode. Emergency DownLoad Mode, which resides in the Qualcomm-Chipset itself and is read-only.
You can use that Mode to flash a new Bootloader, to then be able to flash a ROM again.
Some devices in some situations automatically detect that they can't start the bootloader and go into EDL Mode. Other times, you have to manually start the EDL Mode by by using an EDL Cable, or by taking off the back of your phone and shorting 2 Test-points on the motherboard to start the EDL Mode.
If you connect your phone to your PC, and if the Qualcomm 9008 drivers are installed, your phone will show up in Windows' Device Manager as "Qualcomm HS 9008", that means your phone is in EDL Mode.
In your case I think your phone just constantly tries to reboot into Bootloader, which keeps failing...
I'm not sure what software you would use, to use the EDL Mode on Samsung, because nowadays I use a Xiaomi Phone, but there's the official QPST Tool (Qualcomm Product Support Tool). You might be able to use that Tool to flash a new bootloader using your phones' EDL Mode.
I have experience with that, because I busted the Bootloader on my Xiaomi phone and was able to recover the software through that Mode, but for me with my Xiaomi Phone, the process is different, because Xiaomi locked that Mode for their phones. But that's another story....
If you'd like more information or need help, you can hit me up.

Oh, how did you found out?
Xiaomi locks their phones' EDL Mode to Authorised Service Accounts only, which is outragous in my opinion. I had to pay 25€ to someone and let them remote-control my PC, so they can flash the ROM for me.
But Samsung also locking EDL Mode? That's pathetic, considering they're supposedly working with iFixIt to provide Replacement-parts, but then doing very much Anti-Right-To-Repair sh*t like this.
Bunch a hypocrites, same as Apple xd.
Can you perhaps share the link where you found out Samsung's locked EDL?
I don't know the stance with Samsung and EDL, but I thought it would perhaps work, because I saw a YouTube video where someone flashed the Bootloader onto a Samsung Galaxy phone..

Someone whos good with Samsung on the r/AndroidRoot Discord server said confidently that apparently, Samsung locks EDL mode, because I asked him can I use a EDL/Deep Flash Cable on a Samsung/Note 8 and he said no. From the man that told me this, I quote "Hint: it doesn't have an accessible edl", I say wdym, and he says "You can't get to it, even if there is one.

It's just this video I watched, so I assumed it was possible. I just typed in "samsung flash edl mode" into YouTube.
You can also see MBN-files, which is a filetype for Qualcomm Partition-images.
You can also see in that video, he's shorting the 2 points for going into EDL Mode
I honestly hope for you that it's not locked. Is your phone still rebooting and crashing constantly?
If it helps you to know, I took out the back of my phone and held the 2 Test-points while connecting my phone to my PC, so that it starts into EDL Mode, instead of trying to boot the damaged bootloader. Then the technician who I paid, did the flash remotely.
Does ODIN say anything? Have you checked out QPST? Installed the Qualcomm 9008 driver?
For the sake of this I'm downloading the latest ROM for my Galaxy Note 8 and checking the content of the archive for any MBN-files. I mean if it has MBN-files, flashing through EDL must be possible, no?
I can't seem to be able to extract or even just find the partition images, Samsung's tar.enc4 ROMs are so convoluted.
But so far it seems from the YouTube videos that you might be able to use one of these cables, supposedly EDL cables, go into that RDX Mode or Upload Mode, and from there rebooting into EDL Mode.
Seems so unnecessarily complicated.
But even then, you need files to flash... And I don't know which you'd flash. Samsung's proprietary crap, just like how Fastboot Mode is replaced with ODIN Mode.

So firstly my phone legit shows no sign of life lmfao, besides some extremely fast white flicker when trying to go into recovery or download mode. Odin says nothing, QPST says nothing nor does device manager show a Qualcomm 9008 device. I'm going to take a gamble on a cable on eBay to see if he's wrong, which hopefully he is cause I'd be pretty sad knowing my phone is full rage mode bricked and need to swap out the logic board for a $60 one on eBay lol. Wish me luck, also I seriously don't feel like heating the back glass of my phone to try and find 2 points that might not even exist then get some new adhesive to put the back glass back on its a damn hassle.

Do you have an MBN file for your phone? I tried to search online and couldn't find one.
Because I think that's what you need to flash, they contain the bootloader (afaik)
QPST or the other EDL Mode programs don't use Samsung's .md5-format ROMs because they're only for ODIN Mode (again, AFAIK).
I also understand not wanting to take apart your phones' back. I spent a few hours, heating it up a bit and lifting up the back just a few millimeters so I can cut away the adhessive with a paper-thingy. It went well, but with a glass-back, there's a risk.

Yeah... I researched a bit more and just couldn't find one for your Galaxy Note 8.
There are websites with a collection of (supposedly leaked) Firehose-files, they are named after the phones' SOC number. Your Galaxy Note 8 uses a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 and the "8998" is what it would be listed as, if the Firehose file for it got leaked on the internet.
BTW, Firehose is just what the protocol/connection/language is called, when the QPST Tool speaks to the phone in EDL-Mode.
Seems like you're sh*t outta luck mate...
@FrozenSalad
Wait, your model is N950U and not N950F, right? Whoops.
This might actually help you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/note-8-n950u-qdl9008-edl-mode-unbrick-rom-is-here.3851345/
The Mediafire-Links in the 2nd post have everything, it seems, to flash in QPST in EDL Mode.

Hey! You may be on EDL mode.
To exit it you have to press power button and one of the volumes buttons, though I don't remember which one. Just have a look on Google and you will find something.
As for the certificate, I saw people having that problem if they replaced the front camera or the face id module. I don't if that's your case, but as you have root you may be able to recover face id functionality.
Let me know how it goes!

Then you are on EDL mode, as when you boot in that mode, the phone change how it shows up on the PC. You need to try to get out of there. If you can't, as you said you were having issues with the OS, maybe something is broken and the phone can't boot up.
When Android starts it has 2 bootloaders (the normal bootloader and the secondary one, which has EDL mode). If the standard bootloader fails, then it uses the second one which is EDL.
So here are some suggestions:
1. Try to hold the power key + volume up key for several seconds. If it doesn't work do the same with the volume down key
2. If that doesn't work there is another method, though it's riskier and might not work. Try to open the phone and disconnect the battery, leave it disconnected for some seconds, reconnect and try to boot the phone.
If none of those things worked for you, it means you will need to flash the firmware to your phone using EDL, as the bootloader is damaged.
Unfourtynaly there is not much info on using EDL on Pixel devices, though a lot of people use EDL to unlock Xiaomi's bootloader, so maybe have a look on those forums. On my profile, I tried to use the EDL mode to unlock a Pixel bootloader(mine is carrier-locked), though had no success, you will find a lot of helpful information to solve your problem, like the tools and files you will need and some overall idea of how EDL works.
Hope those help you and let me know if I can help you further

step 1&2 didn't work ,, by the way, thank you for replying my thread ... so there's no possible way to fix this , sir? bcause i'mnot an expert to this . )
Hi Guys,
I really need help with this one. I have tried almost everything.
Here is my problem.
I have an Rog phone 3 strix edition QUALCOMM based.
I repaired the screen because i dropped the phone.
Everything was fine working well. Me with my big head decided to do an factory reset to wipe everything clean from the phone and then the problem started.
The phone was restarting every time i plugged in a usb c cable. If i wanted to listen to some music on headset wont work because it will end in a bootloop.
Now the phone is stuck in CSC Fastboot mode and PC wont recognized it. The screen will turn on and send me to CSC fastboot but that's it. I can turn it back off.
Can i Revive the phone or is it food for the recycling bin?
Please Help.
Sincerely,
Ayolyas
With some effort you should be able to get back on track - unless it's hardware related to the display change you've done.
Can you do a reboot to bootloader from the boot menu? If you can confirm if you have fastboot access. If you do, RAW flash the device.
Worst case, you force the device into EDL mode and do a flash from there, but leave at as the last option.
If the relpaced display is causing harware issues, that's a bigger problem...
Hi Andrologic,
I cannot reboot to the bootloader. I am stuck in csc fastboot. I was trying to put it in edl mode i even bought an edl cable. But i have no idea how to use it or how to put the phone in edl.
I went back to the repair shop but the phone was working fine when it left the phone shop. The problem started when i decided to go for factory reset.

So, when you turn on the device, it falls into CSC FB and you can't navigate anywhere at all from there?
What happens if you try to do a RAW flash from CSC FB?
Flashing it in EDL mode may otherwise be the only option. Power off the device completely. Then hold Vol up+down pressed and connect to the USB side port. You should land with a completely black screen and on your pc see the device identified in 9008 mode - that's EDL. Since you have a flash cable, you can obviously use that too.
Remember you need Qualcom drivers installed to work in EDL mode. There is a guide with steps for EDL flashing somewhere here on the forum. All the steps are explained.

Yes, you have flash cable, so getting into EDL shouldn't be an issue any way.
This is a useful video on how to use your flash cable to force the device to EDL:
Just remember you need QCom drivers installed to flash in EDL mode, the normal drivers won't do it in EDL.
What is the device identified as on your PC when in CSC FB? Can you send any FB commands to the device at all? Does 'Fastboot Devices' return your device id? If so, try first to do a RAW flash from the Fastboot state you are stuck at. You don't really want to mess with EDL if you can avoid it. Download one of the RAW rom's from the links here on the forum. Version number doesn't matter as long as it matches with your device version, i.e. WW assuming you're on Global.

Hi Guys,
I really need help with this one.
Sincerely,
Ayolyas

Hi,
Nope. I can get into EDL mode so i think it is hardware related. You can say it is fresh for the garbage.
