No in day to day normal usage, I experienced heating in upper part of the display.
It's mostly due to network. Less reception heats the phone. And dual sim on too heats it if both network reception is fluctuating.
For better battery life go to device care>battery and add apps in sleep mode which you dont want to run in back ground.
Also go to developer options>running services to see running apps

my ZR has some sort of problem after the 4.3 update, it tends to overheat when the wifi is on, the battery keeps on discharging even when plugged when wifi is on (charges normally when wifi is off). What's worse is that it shuts down by itself cause of high temperature can somebody help me with this problem?

No, for me turning on Wifi is completely fine. No overheating nor battery drain.

I tried the repair with pc companion but when i open the wifi it still gets hot
The answer should be obvious. It depends on how u use ur device. Of course it would be overheated if u turn the screen all the time/ if u keep downloading using the device for a long time.

No, there seems to be some technical problem, cause as soon as I open up the wifi the battery starts to drain and it starts to produce heat from where the wifi chip is then there's this instance that it just shutdown by itself cause of the heat. It's freaking me out!
Somebody please help me

Could be a hardware problem, I suggest you bring to a nearest Sony store and have it checked

Try to Root ur phone. Check which apps running on ur device background. Greenifiy it.
Hi.
I experiencing heavy battery drain Form avast on my non-rooted phone with stock ROM. Like 80% or so..
I am not able to provide a log yet but does anyone got a clue where it might come from?
anyone?
Well avast mostly eats cpu time.. so yeah it will eat battery life.

Yeah ok but on my other phone GT-i9505 it's nothing near 80% like on my this one..
80% seems pretty much considering that the display usually drains most battery, right?

No actually combine network activity with cpu activity and the display can become the lesser evil.
You should look at the wake locks perhaps something you are not noticing.

I am checking the wakelocks now with greenify.
thanks for the info!
How do I combine network activity with cpu activity?
Is there a thread reagarding this?
Note: I am not quite sure whether this works.
I use Tasker to do the following:
Profile>Status>Display off
In-Task>Network>Mobile Data 2G/3G>only 2G
Out-Task>Network>Mobile Data 2G/3G>prefer 3G
But there is no option choosing LTE. (This is for my GT-I9505 which is capable of LTE)
I can only enable or disable LTE via secure settings plugin,
but if I enable LTE via Out-Task won't this interfere with the In-Task?
Or what do you mean by "combine network activity with cpu activity"?
Please help a noob out
I mean when you have the network and cpu working hard it quickly eats the battery.
There are many reasons why a phone would use the battery aggressively and it's sometimes a pure pain to track down what or why.

Could you help me out with the Tasker set up?

Plus I am not sure how to test whether it works well...because the
display is off

My SOT is something between 3 and 5 hours, it depends on the standby drain. The problem is that if i leave my phone for 2 - 3 hours i lose about 20%
Not easy to see from only that picture. Enter android entry and see what cpu time is and so on, also show hardware usage
If it's not a fresh install I would recommend clearing cache on the phone from the recovery if possible. Usually helps

Its normal. You have a poor signal.
Hi, when I'm at work, it happens that the mid 9 becomes hot and the battery runs out quickly. Then without doing anything it comes back to normal. Have you ever had this problem?
Many thx.

The same thing(...
hi all, i tried to figure out this problem.
I notice first that the problem doesn't occured at home where i have great battery life. I decide to install BBS and see what happened.
i discovered that at work, when phone become hot and have battery drain fast, in BBS, i have a kernel wakelock named 1-0028 that keep phone awake.
with all my search , it seems that the wifi at my work is the cause. try to stay on LTE and have no battery drain at all.
Don't know why but if you have that problem, don't use wifi if possible and stay on mobile data.
If anybody know if there is setting on mobile or on wifi , share it
Maybe its the wifi trying yo look to networks to connect to, have u hot it on

I am only guessing here but if it happens when you launch a game, it is probably a hardware issue, if it happens after playing the game for some time your phone is probably overheating and shutting down for safety. Try reducing the quality settings of the game and reduce the brightness. You could also try gaming on the medium power saving setting so your phone is not pushed to the max.

I think u got faulty device. Or may be tons of apps are runnin in background and causing overheat. If u're using second hand device, i suggest u to use benchmarking apps and compare to other note8s

if overloading the phone is causing instant shutdown, it may be because of battery. Try replacing battery.

ok bro i will change the battery and thanks:fingers-crossed:
Backup all the data on your device. Try wiping the Cache Partition and performing a Hard Factory Reset. Could be that something went wrong with a OS update.

first i changed the battery and same thing happened then i changed the motherboard now its fine maybe the problem was with processer
Still reckon it sounds like an overheating problem...
Was happening to my PC ALL the time until I cleaned it out and re-seated the heatsink with new paste...
I know it's a little different for the phones and tablets but they are just miniature PC's...
