I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Help Please. I need help identifying the name to this piece of hardware. It's directly behind the screen of the tablet if you were to take it off. It's the only piece of silicon/circuit board. I need to replace the LCD display connector. I have already replaced the flex cable because I thought that was the problem when the screen stopped working in the beginning. Help would be great! I've been searching for over 2 weeks. I've even called Geek squad and several other companies to no avail. ~Michael

Hi,
The XDA Diamond of my little brother has some cracks between the display and the touch-surface. (see attachement)
I sent the device O2, but they (their service-partner) said "no warranty" and want ~ 300€ for the repair.
I just looked into the service-manual, because I thought about repairing it by myself.
But I think it's to difficult for me.
Now I wonder if anybody know a cheap mobile-shop, who can repair my Diamond.
I live in Cologne. My Brother (and my family) near Hannover. (both in Germany)
But Online-Shops are also good.
Thank you!
the screen is on ebay - item 230285205211. They also offer repairs
search for the dismantle guide (sorry don't have it to hand)
i also got cracks on my screen just like your brother....
I decided to order one of the replacement screen from ebay that comes with the needed tools to do it myself. i payed about 25 dollars including shipping and should receive it anytime from now.... If you r willing to wait , i ll post feedback on how hard it is to do it yourself.
About dismantling the diamond u ll find easily links from google.
Good luck!
how do the cracks actually appear in the first place?
was it the result of something the manufacturer might classify as "abuse" or "accidental damage"?
Often I pick up my phone (HTC Victor) and think that it feels quite fragile compared to something like the N95... so i treat it accordingly - ie, with a little more care..
I already looked throu the disamble guide.
@Sebienbon
It would be great, if you would post feedback and maybe photos of the repair process (step-by-step) wich are not in the disamble guide.
Meanwhile I will do one more try with the service partner.
@bobbified
It just happened. I think my brother carried the device in his trouser pocket (jeans) when he was riding by bike. But imo such a expensive phone should be strong enough.
Also theere is no damage on the outside.
@hays
Thanks. But I am not sure if this is the right part.
My LCD still works. All pixels are fine.
But the "whatever" between the LCD and touch-surface is cracked.
Thanks everybody so far
i just got the kit this morning but the screw driver is wrong( probably because of a different country , i live in denmark and the screen comes from asia... so i ll go buy a tiny screw driver that i miss and then give it a go
Hey,
I´ve got the same problem. But my Screen is more broken
Although it works.
I read the Service Manual too but im not sure if it works with this part:
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-diamond-digitizer-p-2128.html
Because on the last Picture in the Manuel you see only the front part of the phone and nothing about the part linked above.
So I w`ont open it before I`m not sure whats exactly to do.
Also I asked some firms do make me an offer for repairing the mobile phone.
The best offer is 129,00 € or 169,00 € if the dismantling create scratches on the Display under the touch screen because they are glued.
Very expensive!
Now I´m waiting for your experiences too.

I took it apart thinking that the black tape under the battery is just tape!!!! And rip the mini-usb power ribbon. Man my heart sank.. So on that note if any of you guys know of a site or store to order parts from. please let me know also....
@lphar56
Is the diamond display made of glass and not the plastic stuff some other screens are made of???
The display is LCD so im guessing glas.. but it has a Touch Digitizer over the top.. that can scratch very easy and is only £15 off ebay

HTC diamond screen replacement
Hey guys!
AFAIK the cracks that appear are in the glass of the touch-screen-unit.
so i try to figure out how to replace this part only.
Is it glued to the LCD?
Which glue sould be used to fix it again?
Or does it even come with the screen?
I'd like to post a guide here if it works, so please help me answering this last question!
Also, replacing only the touchscreen would lower the repair cost to a third...
Thanks!
Still no update?? on the steps to remove digitizer?

So, middle of of screen is dead, it just died one day, so now I'm looking at a digitizer on eBay, but I just realized I don't want to f**k up my phone trying to fix it.
Any one able to help in any way?
(If you're in Florida, able to physically help? There's a Google Wave invite in it for you.)

Dead as in no touch function or dead as in nothing appears? Unless you are VERY skilled (and I take it, you are not), you will not be able to replace a digitizer and not many places will offer a service that you require. Not only the digitizer needs to be adhered to the LCD properly, the flex needs to be soldered. My advice is to purchase the entire LCD/digitizer assembly, I know it's more expensive, trust me, those digitizers on eBay are not cheap for nothing, no matter how tempting it may seem, it will save yourself a lot of headache and trouble if you'll just replace the whole thing.
Service manual
Hi, if you need the service manual to disassemble i have a copy in PDF format i could send you? let me know.
I bricked my G1 - and picked up a used one with a cracked screen to replace the mother board with. Have gone through the disassembly thread - and have taken phones apart before.
Quick question for anyone who has already done this. All things being equal, cosmetic condition, etc - which is an easier process
replacing motherboard - or replacing a cracked screen.
Is one safer than the other ??
Any feedback greatly appreciated - thanks
I just completed reassembly of mine. The motherboard would be the easier of the two, if only because you have to remove less parts to get to it.
Don't let difficulty be the deciding reason. Choose the combination of parts that are in the best condition. You'll have no problems.
i've bricked my g1 for about 2 yrs now and i've kept it since and even got another messed up g1 with screen problems to swap the motherboards. But i've never got around to do it simply because i saw a few vids on the disassembly of the g1 is quite complicated. Anyone know a quick and easy way to get to the motherboard please let me know.
It seems I have managed to damage the body(Or housing) of my Galaxy Mini GT-S5570. It looks a little, well, ugly. So, I would like to know if it is possible to replace that body, without involving the Samsung Service Center, if possible. The screen has a really big and deep scratch across it so any other suggestions or alternatives would also be helpful.
I've tried searching on ebay.in but there doesn't seem to be anything. I will begin searching in the local stores in a few days or weeks maybe because I damaged the body in an accident involving a possibly drunk truck driver.
Haha! Possibly drunk truck driver?
I think you should try searching in the stores .. That oughta lead to somewhere.. But I'm not optimistic because It's a new phone..
I just opened my Galaxy Mini and it read "Made in Korea by Samsung".
Change your google search from google.co.in to google.kr( Check if korea is kr.. it think it is) and try searching.. use google translate.. That might help!
Best of luck :]
Galaxy Mini is manufactures in Korea, Vietnam, China. If the housing damaged, but your LCD screen is intact, then you only need to replace the front-facing casing only. But Samsung Service Center is the best place for the job, it will charge for cost, but in a much faster time.

Alright. I'll do that. Thank you.
What are the chances that I'll need to replace this 'Digitizer' thing? I found this on ebay today. Is the digitizer on the front of the phone or is there a surface in front of it?
Yup, that's the part you're looking for, and from your story, definitely it's the one that you need to replace.

If the phone is off and you plug it into your computer do you get the charging screen?
Follow-Up Needed from Original Poster
My nephew owns an LG THRILL 3D P925 from AT&T. He dropped it and broke the digitizer resulting in huge spider cracks. So, for his birthday I decided to be a great uncle purchase a digitizer online.
I received a P920 replacement digitizer. I was told this would be compatible with the phone by the company I purchased it from.
Everthing went really well with the digitizer replacement as the process was pretty easy. However, when I attempt to power on the phone, I get a vibration with zero activity from the LCD.
At first I thought that I somehow ripped the LCD cable or the digitizer cable; however, after close inspection, I do not see any flaws in either cables or their respective connection points.
I too feel like the phone is stuck in download mode. I wish I knew if the original poster has resolved their issue, and I would not mind continuing the discovery process on how to fully troubleshoot this with you John if you would oblidge. I did not think it would be beneficial for me to start a new thread considering I am experiencing the exact same issue as the OP.
Thanks in advance for any assistance from Anyone!
Bump..
Should I just start my own post?
I don't think another post would get anymore attention
