Hey,
I'm trying to follow the guide that was referred to a couple of times here for ROG Phone II: https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/guide-enabling-volte-vowifi-v2-t4028073
But every time I get to the point of using EfsTools.exe, I get "Critical error: Bad command". I've tried several different versions of EfsTools, different USB ports, different cables, changed the Baud Rate in Device Manager, nothing.
I can never get QPST to recognise it as a phone in terms of having a name (e.g. "SM 855 (0)" for ROG PHONE II, so I imagine SM 865P (0) for ROG PHONE III), it just says "(0)". Still it seems EfsTools is picking it up as it uses the right COM port, but get the same bad command error.
ASUSVoLTE does seem to enable the toggles but since I guess the MBN is not designed for it, it won't work, I never get the VoLTE or VoWiFi icons.
(I am on EE UK, if that helps)
Has anyone here had any success?

I had to use the remote port option as it would not detect it via USB.
In the app field just make sure to fill in your PC IP address (both have to be on the same wifi).
All I did to enable VoLTE etc was just to run those 4 lines of setprop commands in an adb shell .. toggle the mobile network off/on and the VoLTE/wifi options appeared in my carrier menu.

A strange problem..
I recently got GPRS activated on my sim..
When i try connecting on my Diamond, the E becomes active and it tries to connect.. But after abt 30 secs to a min, it says "Cannot connect for an unknown reason... etc etc.."
I initially thought it was a problem with the network..
But, when i put the same sim in my old Asus P525, set up the connection and tried to connect, the G became active and got connected within a few seconds!!!
From then i've been tryin to connect on my Diamond and have got connected about twice with E in the signal bar.. But that must've been some freak accident cos after a few hours i tried connecting w/o changing any of the settings and absolutely no luck!
I've tried almost all the cooked ROM's. And different radios.
Right now i'm on the Official WWE ROM 1.93.
Hard SPL 1.23 or 1.24.
And 1.00.25.03 Radio.
Any idea about what's wrong, guys?
Make sure you have the correct GPRS/WAP settings installed on your HTC Diamond.
There are different settings for Payandgo and Contract SIM cards.
You can try searching Google for them, or if you live in the UK try this website: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

prank1, the settings are right..
That's why it's working on my old phone..
I think it may have somethin to do with Edge and GPRS..
Maybe my service provider does not have Edge capabilities..
If i'm able to restrict my Diamond to try and connect to Edge and connect to GPRS instead, it may work..
Any way that could be done?

My bad - didnt see the 'set up connection' bit so I assumed you didnt have the correct settings.
I had this problem once but it went away with a ROM upgrade - that was when I had the XDA Orbit.
The problem may be that my phone does not try connecting to GPRS and directly tries to connect Edge..
Isn't the connection supposed to be G-E-3G, in that order?
Is there any way i can prevent my phone tryin to connect to Edge?
Can i make GPRS as first preference instead?
Anybody? Please?
From what i heard my diamond doesn't support US( or Canada which is where i live) 3g because of diamonds hardware so that's why it only connects to edge which is really slow... anyways to connect i had to phone rogers my wireless provider and they gave me my username and password which was needed to connect online. So i'm guessing it's the same for you if you go to
Settings > Connections > rogers internet( for mine) > Manage existing connection
from there you'll go to the next page where you can input your info.

Hey.. That doesn't seem to be the prob since i can get it to work on my old PDA with the same settings..
That phone gets connected and it shows 'G'.
What might help me is somethin to block my phone tryin to connect to Edge before it even tries to connect to GPRS..
I don't think that's practical, but wishful thinking..
I've had the same issue with my Diamond, I know for sure that the network settings are correct as it sometime connects fine and other times I keep getting the "Cannot connect for an unknown reason..." error- only a soft reset would resolve the issue. Seems a bit random but am trying to monitor what is causing it.
It always used to work fine on my Hermes. BTW I'm using Dutty's ROM on my Diamond.

Yeah.. Sounds almost like my prob..
Could it be a rare manufacturing defect sort of thing thats affecting our phones?
Cos nobody else seems to have such an issue..
And i keep changing between Dutty's and Panosha's ROM..
I don't know if it's same problem you have ,
but I had kinda same problem..
I found that the lame ActiveSync change the proxy of my internet connection and put in the internet connection proxy my local proxy at work, even I removed the proxy it didn't help (dunno why) , just by adding new connection from the advance and adding new name etc.. it solve the problem...

I've only had my Diamond (MDA Compact IV) for only about 3-4 weeks. I was so keen to flash to a different ROM that I did so within 10-15 hours of receiving the device; my point being that I didn't get to try out my data connection on the stock T-Mobile ROM.
The connection seems to be fine today...!

Ok.. Note the "E" in the first pic and in the second..
The first one is 'clear' and the second one is 'hazy'!
When the "E" is 'clear', my GPRS connects!!!
I found this out after putting a different sim card of a different network and connecting..
When i put the other sim card, i got 'clear' "E" and GPRS worked..
Then i put back my old sim card and on switching on the phone, the "E" was still 'clear'!!
On tryin to connect, it worked!!!! Even after several manual diconnections, it worked only cos the "E" was still 'clear'..
Then i reset my phone with my sim card and got the 'hazy' "E".. And back to square one.. Not connecting..
My question is, what does this 'hazy' "E" mean and how do i make it 'clear'???! Only then my GPRS seem to work!
Help!!!!!!
This is how it is when connected properly..
Cannot connect for an unknown reason
I also had this problem. To make my story short, I have a data plan with Claro Peru which I have been using with my Touch (not 3G phone) with no problems. 3 days ago I acquired my Diamond 3G US version. When attempted to connect to the HSDPA I got the error mentioned here (cannot connect for..., sometimes the "H" symbol was difusse [like in the picture in a previous post in this thread], etc). The root cause of this was that my data plan only have GPRS/EDGE activated, my network provider (Claro) differentiates 2G internet vs 3G (so no HSDPA/UMTS until subscribing to a new plan).
The **SOLUTION** for my case was to select under "Select your network type" the option GSM (Start, Settings, Phone, Band tap). The option Auto was the default. Thus restricting to EDGE my data connection (which is according to my plan). Also, on the same tap I selected UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900) under "Select you GSM/UMTS band". You have to select here the frequencies according to your country.
P.S. The problem was the same before and after I updagred my ROM to RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_2.03.405.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship. So, two things to mention here. 1, A ROM upgrade is not the solution for this problem (in my case). 2, you can upgrade the Diamond US version (my is DIAM110) with a WWE ROM upgrade.
Hope this help someone.

I have the Diamond on T-Mobile in the UK with the web'n'walk plan (HSDPA enabled - although not the higher-speed "plus" version). This happens to me every single time I'm in a GPRS-only area - when I have HSDPA coverage, it connects fine. In order to get it to connect, I have to open the Comm Manager, turn off the data connection and re-activate it.
Before anyone asks, my connection settings are all correct and I've tried numerous different main and radio ROMs - nothing makes a difference. I'll give this a shot, see if it makes a difference.

OK, I would try the option Auto for the "Select your network type" so the phone auto negotiates the technology in use (between GPRS or the much better HSDPA), but change the option for the bands according to your country.
Let us know the results!
About a week ago I did a Secure Full Erase on my 32GB HP Touchpad.
Then after finishing it rebooted and I started going through the initial setup. I select English then United States and then confirm that is my selection. I then get taken to the Wi-Fi Setup screen, in the background I can see the HP Terms & Conditions, where I select my network and type in my password. For about 1/2 a minute it sits there and states "Cannot connect to the internet through this connnection. Try another network." It then decided it will go but then I receive a Server Error which says "Please visit http://hpwebos.com/support to help resolve this problem". I have tried this multiple times many different ways. I've used other networks and even tried making mine unsecured. I've tried selecting different languages and countries. I've tried using WebOS Doctor which did the reinstall of the WebOS 3.0.4 and even tried going back to 3.0.2 but same thing.
I've been working on this now for the past 8 hours and have tried everything that I have came across out there on the net.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks.
Well... 100 have checked out my post and yet to have any ideas.
I really just want to get it up and running so I can run Android on it.

The wifi does not seem to work with certain configurations of WPA2 on the setup screen.
Set your router to wpa TKIP (or weaker) and reduce the speed to 54 mbps. I am not sure which on of these fixes it but it does. Once you are setup you can put the router back to WPA2 and it works.
Took me a while to figure that out on my system include modem resets.
BTW I have a netgear wndr3700 as my primary router, do you happen to have the same?
That worked!!! Can not believe that is all it took was to drop the speed to 54mbps, I didnt change the security. And yes I have the exact same router.
One thing I did notice is when I switched my router back it would not connect to the system related sites like System Update and App Catalog. So what I did was use the fact that the router is a dual band to set up a second signal with the lower speeds, was not using the 5Ghz band anyway, so this way the lower speeds would not affect when I stream to my Epic Touch or my SqueezeBox.
I'm having same problem how do I fix it
My phone is failing to connect to the network, its able to pick up the signal but when you try to search for any available mobile networks it gives an error.
I have checked the IMEI number and its fine, also enabled all the radio frequencies.
Please help.
What is the ROM on your phone? Which modem do you use? What did you do last before the error occured first? Is WLAN or BT or strict 2G mode working?
is your apn configured the right way? Have a look at the "Mobile Network" section...
I installed 2.3.3 gingerbread, wireless and bluetooth are working fine and as for the modem i am using zsjv5. initially the phone was stuck in airplane mode then it worked for a while and now it has a circle with a line accross it.
Apologies for the late response.
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here so I will try to be clear and short.
I'm using a Moto X XT1058, first, Stock Br Android 5.1 Firmware, unlocked bootloader I had a long time since I upgraded from 4.4.4, until yesterday everything went normal, when I arrived home from work I noticed my phone didn't connect automatically to my house lan, so I tried to manually select the SSID on the WiFi menu and I clicked connect, then, instead of the "connecting" > "Assigning IP Address" > "connected" steps, it changed to saved and no connection was made, and every time I try it does the same. I tried almost everything I could to fix this and the result is the same (images attached):
- Clicked on forgot, and tried again with the correct password.
- Reset my router to factory and upgraded firmware.
- Switched over different wireless authentication methods, even open.
- No firewall or MAC filtering is activated on my router.
- Wireless settings are the default, I can connect with any other device except my phone works( Notebook, Desktop with Wireless adapter, my dad's phone Moto G).
- I made a factory reset on my MotoX, switched over 5.1, I made a downgrade to 4.4.4, full wipe, loaded a past backup with twrp, flashed via mfastboot manually, switched again to a fresh install of 5.1, still can't connect.
- I read something about cleaning wifi cache and accessing wlan test and test wifi drivers using dialer code *#*#526#*#* but it didn't work on mine, also read something about checking wireless interface using a root terminal, but honestly I'm starting to lose faith on this...
I like this phone so much and I don't wanna expend on another unless this really doesn't have any fix.
When going to the WiFi Options (three dots bottom right on the WiFi screen) make sure "Avoid poor connections" isn't checked, also try selecting the right band (2,4 or 5GHz) manually. Also turn of "WiFi Optimization", unlikely that this causes your problems but overall this setting will bring you into trouble before it saves a noteable amount of battery. Do you see a MAC Address on the bottom there? On your router manually set a channel (on 2,4 GHz try 7, should be pretty empty there). Try enabling WiFi on your phone while your routers WiFi is off, then turn on the router. Maybe you can solve this by manually restarting the service on the phone through terminal or adb if you have root, that works for me although I had a little different problem:
su
svc wifi disable
svc wifi enable
disable first even if you disabled through the menubutton.
I tried

Hello and thanks for replying! I tried what you suggested with no luck, today I noticed the problem got worse... not my phone doesn't detects any wifi signal...
I think this is a hardware failure problem and I have yo buy another phone

Sad to hear that, one last thing you could try is removing the battery. Since this isn't possible without disassembly there's a trick I got from the Motorola Service, they call it Hung State Recovery:
This works as if the battery was removed from the device. Since it is built-in it is impossible
to remove the battery for it would void the warranty.
This process terminates all running commands from the processor allowing it to start anew.
No Data will be lost in the process.
With the device switched OFF (even if the device is not turning ON at all) follow the steps
bellow.
1. Please press and hold the VOL DOWN key
2. While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
3. Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. It must be more than 2 minutes!
4. After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
5. The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
6. Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.

Unlikkely that this will help but it's just 2 minutes and at least a chance.

Hello again... I almost gived up since yesterday but I don't know why, I wanted to try again... I even ordered a new phone from an online shop... but I just tried to connect to my wifi, and the reason why it wasn't detecting any APs was because I left the 5.0 Ghz band activated on one of my failed attempts to get Wifi working. Just switched again to automatic, clicked on my home AP and authenticated with my password and Bingo! It worked...
Not sure why but it got fixed somehow
Thanks for helping me out, I would try to sell it since I got a new one.
Good to hear that, that's a pretty common issue as it seems why I already suggested forcing the phone to use the right band. Don't set to automatic if you don't need both frequencies. Instead of selling the Moto X why don't you ship the new one back? If still sealed you shouldn't have problems getting a refund and in terms of one hand useable screen size, memory and cpu power you shouldn't need more until it comes to games or some strange kinds of usage where everybody clear in mind would choose a laptop.
hello
as the title says, my 3T refuses to connect to wifi networks.
it all started arround ~1-2 months ago, after a OTA update (don't know if it's related or not).
at first, it was just "picky" about which access points will connect to (i have 4 in my home, 2 on 2.4Ghz and other 2 on 5Ghz; set up as wireless extender). it would either refuse to connect to one the the extender AP or just dropped the connection after a short period.
then it just started to refuse to connect to new APs, while still connecting to already configured ones.
a short while ago (couple of days), being frustrated will this shenanigans, I did a "wireless clear settings". after this it just plain reufuses to connect to any network, period.
simptoms:
* wifi networks are detected, including encryption type (opend / locked); checked this in android wifi connections menu and with a wifi scanning app.
* uppon connectiong to a wifi, it will try to connect 3 times, after which it will disable the AP - shows it as "saved"
* i also noticed that Wifi tether is not longer working - I can set it up just fine and enable it, but actual wifi AP is not detected by other devices (both 2.4 and 5 Ghz)
what i've tried so far:
* different routers
* different channels for AP
* diffferent encryption types, including open AP / no password
* manually adding a connection, including network configuration (no dhcp)
* completly flashed phone and installed latest OOS from oneplus
* completly flashed phone and installed latest lineage OS
* also flashed radio firmware from OOS 5.0.2 and 5.0.1 (from here)
what does work (don't know if its related):
* bluettoh
* NFC
* GPS
* 2G/3G/4G modem
right now i'm all out of ideas.
so if any of you guys knows what i might try next, i would be gratefull!
LE: here's a logcat dump, in case it could anyone cares to take a look
Hi! Try to leave just one ap on 2,4, and shut down all other extender and 5 ghz network! update your firmware on your ap and extenders. erase all the network from the phone! test every single ap and extender with your phone, one at the time! see which connects with the phone and not! Update your phone to oos 5.0.6! Check your channels on a computer, maybe you getting to much noise from your neighbours! Other phones/devices doesn't experience this?!

Hei, thanks for the suggestions.
I know for sure this is a problem with the phone, not the routers. I have some 6 other devices at home that have no issue connecting to the same wifi.
I also tried to connect the phone to other wifis networks at my friends house, at works, etc. No ball
Well, the you need another 3t to check . One thing i know, at work, there is a wifi router that the phone not always connect to it, and i tried with op 5 , SG II and smj500f ! They all have same problem like you!
So your op3t doesn't connect not even your friends ap?! the only problem i had with phones, wifi related it was with not turning on wifi bcz of kernel change! try with a clean flash of lates oos without any google or other account on the phone. or custom rom if you want!
well, as i already said, tried with:
* different routers / channels / encryption type (including no encryption)
* complete wipe and install of lates OSS
* complete wipe and install of older OOS version
* complete wipe and install of latest lineageOS
* 3 flavors of kernels
Did you fix it?
Hi, did you fix it? Mine also has this problem and if I can't fix it I'm going to replace the motherboard I think
