My Android auto was working great, but today I went for a ride and when I plugged in my phone the navigation bar was flashing (it would be there, then disappear, then come back, continuously).
I cleared AA and reboot, but the issue persisted even after a fresh connection.
Just wondering if anybody else has seen this, and if anybody knows how to fix this.
Edit: figured it out. It was from Extras for AA. Even when I removed/uninstalled modules, they remained on the phone. I had to go in with a file explorer and remove them manually.
All is good now.
Cheers,
B.D.

Not sure what causes it but lately my PIE locks up such that i see the title bar when i switch to PIE from another app ut nothing else.
tried clearing cookies and files....wondered if it only happened in switches from portrait to landscape but it seems random.
no task manager wioo close PIE and the only fix is a soft reset.
tried searching to see if this was a common issue but couldnt find anything. anyone's help would be appreciated
Did you move the cache to the storage card? PIE doesn´t seem to like that....
No, my cache goes on the device.
I've looked at other threads dealing with lockup and they all talk about the whole unit or temporary lockups with PIE.
This is strange behavior in that the rest of the apps work fine, and I can "close" PIE but if I open it again, all I get is the title bar with no window below it (I still see what was on the screen before whether it be the Today screen or another application).
I thought I was the only one having this funny problem on my device. But the difference is that the problem is solved when I exit PIE and launch it again. My cache is on the device too.
Last night I was at home and noticed my wifi wasn't on, so I used the quick settings in the shade to toggle it. After a few seconds, wifi connected, and some unknown app took focus and closed repeatedly. After a few moments, it stopped and all was well.
I thought it was strange, so I turned wifi back off and the same thing happened. I rebooted, tried again, and got the same result. I was trying to think of a way to see what was happening, so I tried using the Screen Record function in Gravity Box, which didn't help much, because it happens so fast, and no info is displayed, just a black window that goes away quickly.
I then turned on the CPU usage in Developer Options to see if anything consistently came to the top when toggling. I saw a few apps each time Plume (Twitter), and Maildroid (email) were two of them. Both of these apps behave differently on wifi and 3G/4G (push vs. pull), so thought -maybe- it could be something with that. I uninstalled both of those, rebooted and tried again, getting the same result.
I recorded the screen when this was happening with the CPU usage displayed, and was wondering if anyone has any ideas? I don't really want to uninstall and reinstall EVERY app on my phone, so I was hoping someone may have seen this before or see something I'm missing when watching it happen.

Thanks for any input anyone can offer!
Do you check virus from your phone ?
I am also having this, seems to be due to 4.4.2 OTA, which I continue to delay as I am rooted.
Mine doens't only happen with wifi change, but also just randomly when using hangouts, keyboard stays out but hangouts min -> maxes quickly. I have tried freezing the update apps but it apparently didn't do anything as I was still asked to update earlier.
Only hangouts? I have that app disabled.in the app settings.
I can't say for sure that being on 4.4.2 fixed it, but I am on 4.4.2 now and it is not happening anymore.
I unlocked my bootloader and did the 4.4.2 SBF, unlocked and rooted. I installed probably 99% of the same apps (only ditched 1-2 that I never used anymore) and I am not having the flashing issue anymore.
Hard to tell for certain if the pending OTA was the cause, but it may have been.
Can someone help me confirm if this is normal GPS behavior? I'm rooted on ANG3 with the latest maps 9.2.0.
If I start maps after a reboot, or when GPS is "cold" like using for the first time in the morning, the GPS indicator in the status bar will come on for a second or two, then just turn off - at which time maps stops updating my location. It does this same behavior with other GPS apps, including navigation. I found out if I wait like 10 seconds, the GPS status bar indicator comes back on and remains on - from then on behaving normally. After that, I can close maps, reopen, use navigation, use GPS status or GPS test apps, etc., all normally.
I had initially been closing whatever GPS app I was using and reopening when this happened, and the problems kept repeating...but if I found out if I just wait for those 10 seconds or so, then the problem is completely resolved until the next reboot or cold start (like if I wait 10 hours to use a GPS app again).
So do other people have that same GPS behavior immediately after a reboot or from a cold GPS start - where GPS only comes on for a second or two, then turns off for 10 seconds or so, then comes back on and will remain on and work normally?
If not, any idea what the problem might be? I've tried clearing cache of gps apps and clearing dalvik cache...but maybe this is normal behavior?
No problems with my gps here, i personally keep it turned off until i need to though so not sure if that factors in to it, you may need to take it in because that sounds like a possible hardware issue. Have you tried a factory reset/reflashing?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I wonder if leaving your gps off mostly, and only turning it on when needed might affect the behavior I'm talking about. I haven't tried a factory reset yet...was hoping to avoid that, and especially didn't want to do it if others have the same gps behavior. Maybe someone else who leaves gps enabled can test this out by rebooting and opening maps?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news and all that, but i feel like if it was that big of an issue there would be more people posting about it. I know you don't want to but a factory reset fixes most issues, i may be wrong though so feel free to wait it out and see if someone has a solution :/

I had a chance to check the behavior of my wife's Galaxy Alpha (uprooted). Actually, her gps seems to act similarly except that the period of time it spontaneously turns off is more like 5 seconds instead of 10. But that leading me to think what I'm seeing is normal. I'd still appreciate some confirmation though, so if someone could:
1. Turn on gps
2. Reboot
3. Open maps and observe the gps indicator in the status bar for about 30 seconds
4. Report if the indicator disappears during that time and for how long

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure what's going on, because I haven't really tweaked anything but it's now acting normal most of the time even after fresh reboots. But I did still replicate the behavior several times on my wife's stock Galaxy Alpha. Anyway, I'm going to be keeping my eye on it and trying to see if I can figure out what variables seem to be causing the behavior. If anyone else ever notices this though, please post.
Just an update: the behavior had seemed to fix itself, but this was while I was traveling out of town for the holidays. Back home now, and the behavior returned. Since I've replicated this with my wife's stock Galaxy Alpha, I'm wondering if this has something to do with my home location being set in maps...or? Seems weird that it resolved while traveling but continues when back home. Really surprised nobody else has noticed this. Maybe it's something specific to my home location? Guess I will keep checking on it and report back if I figure anything further out.
Howdy. So I've got a t-mobile S6 running Looper 2.0, 5.02, rooted. The problem I'm having is that my GPS will not activate in any kind of navigation app, specifically Maps or Uber until I actually start performing turn by turn directions. The location indicator will only show in the status bar when doing so. Clicking on the target reticle does nothing. Maps has full permissions for location (checked in app ops) as does Uber. The damn phone just never turns the thing on. Once nav starts though, it's fine.
I've tried reflashing the zip, wiping data, etc. Nothing seems to help. It's gotta be something I'm missing, and I can't find any hints or tricks no matter what I google for. Anyone have any ideas?
I have a galaxy s10 and recently just purchased a galaxy watch active. Somewhere after pairing the watch my signal strength has disappeared from my status bar. Its nowhere to be found. I went to settings>status bar info and made sure it was enabled, I removed my theme, I changed my launcher back to stock. I unpaired and disconnected the watch and nothing seemed to bring it back. I reset all settings back to default and reset the network settings as well. To no avail, this is incredibly annoying. Does anyone know how in the world to fix this without a complete factory data reset??

You don't have Good Lock installed do you?
Nevermind, apparently I can fix it by downloading Goodlock and enabling it through there. Unfortunate that I'll need an additional application for that. If anyone though knows how to fix it without requiring Goodlock to be installed that would be preferred! Also, in case you're wondering no, I did not have Good Lock installed when the issue occurred. I only installed it after reading that I could use it to add or disable indicator icons in the status bar.. It worked
At the time that the issue occurred I did NOT have Good Lock installed. However by installing Good lock I managed to fix the problem. I read in another post here that you could enable and disable indicator icons, so I downloaded it and enabled all of them just to get it back. I would still like to figure out how to get it back without Goodlock installed, because I don't really care for Goodlock and quite literally the only reason I'll be using it is to be sure I have a signal strength indicator.. That's hardly worth it being installed, right?

No it's not. My thought was maybe you forgot it was already installed. But yea, no sense running a app you don't want to fix a problem that can surely be fixed another way. Maybe you could try wiping the cache partition, it probably won't help, but it can't hurt either.

Yeah, I thought would work also, and tried it earlier. Unfortunately, once again to no avail. It all seems to have happened shortly after purchasing my Galaxy Watch Active, which doesn't make sense and I'm assuming there is no correlation, but you never know. For now I'll just keep using Good Lock unless someone else arrives with a similar issue and possible fix.

I may have missed this, but you did try turning another indicator off didn't you? Apparently there is only so much space alloted because I can't make all of the indicators show at one time if I turn all of them on.

Yeah I tried all that. Interestingly enough by installing Goodlock and enabling everything and then removing Goodlock seems to have solved the problem. So in short I buy the Galaxy Active and suddenly my signal bars disappear from the status bar. I then install Goodlock to add them back via that application. I then removed Goodlock and the signal indicators are back even after a reboot. Android can be so mysterious. Hopefully this helps someone else.
