Hi, I have a mi5 global version running on miui 7
so far i have requested an unlock code and in theory i am now allowed to unlock.
The thing is, i cant, after connecting the phone to the PC and running the mi unlock exe it gets to 50% and then fails.
From what i have read the problem must/should be, that i am not currently running the chinese version.
so my question now is: how do i flash the chinese version if the phone is kinda locked in the global version?
model nr: mi 5
android version 6.0 MRA58K
MIUI version: MIUI Global 7.2.8.0.0 MAACNDB Stable
build number: MRA58K
thank you in advance. Best regards!:highfive:
Download the MIUI Global Beta version as a zip file from the MIUI site.
After that, put that file on the internal memory (download ROM directory is available for this).
Then start the Update app (or via the settings button Update).
Press the tool sign (right top) and choose the downloaded file.
It will probably tell you that this is an older version then you have running now, but just ignore that and start the upgrade.
This will work with the official MIUI versions, even with locked bootloader.
At least i did it this way
Hi Everyone;
I dont know i am writing right place or not but i cant get answer to my question till 2 days in RR OS's own page... May be i choose old rom and its not favourite now but i want to change my phone's (Huawei P9 - EVA L09) stock rom with lighter Android 8 (Oreo) custom rom.
I got my phones oem unlock code via DC Unlocker than unlock my phone than i install TWRP's (Open Kirin in Edition) than i rooted my phone vith Super Su.
Everything was ok till that step but than, when i try to install Resurrection Remix's Oreo version for my phone, but i got error in installation.
I attached error photos to this message.
After unsusccess install process i cant open my phone and my phones Internal memory looked 0 mb, then, fortunately i can recover my phone with Huawei's own eRecovery.
I wanna know what did wrong than i will try to change my phones OS asap...

There are Open Kirin Treble Oreo ROMs (RR, LOS) for Huawei/Honor phones:
https://openkirin.net/user_guide/openkirin-rom-installation-instructions/
Installation instructions require:
1) OK Oreo ROMs can only be installed over Huawei stock Oreo (not over stock Nougat)
2) OK ROM must be flashed by Fastboot, not from TWRP (btw, TWRP for Huawei Oreo is different than TWRP for Nougat because of different partitions names, sizes, etc)
There is also XDA thread about Open Kirin Treble ROMs (on P9):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/roms-openkirin-aosp-collection-t3828806
and for (1), there is a thread describing how to rebrand P9 L09/L19 to AL10c00 and update to Oreo (b540):

First, go back to stocl Nougat, and please read again my previous answer - I gave you link for HWOTA7 method for rebranding from stock L09/L19 to AL10 and then upgrading toAL10c00 b540 Oreo
If you don't like unlocked FRP, then go back to stock Nougat and re-lock Bootliader (and then lock FRP back).
But as long as you do rooting, installing custom ROMs, or rebranding to that AL10, you must have unlocked Bootloader and for unlocked Bootliader you must have also unlocked FRP

(Re)installing/OTA updating some stock firmwares lock back both OEM/FRP and Bootloader, but it depends on the firmware itself (Huawei who prepare them).
If you already installed latest firmware for your cust by eRecovery, you can only try to do Factory reset from stock Recovery or eRecovery
Otherwise, rolling back to Marshmallow (and after that updating again to Nougat) shoulf fix the problem with disabled OEM unlock option (I had it twice but in the opposite way, OEM was locked but its option was disabled)
However, having unlocked FRP is not a big trouble. You can still open Bootloader and root/flash, etc - problem would be if OEM option was disabled but locked - then you could not unlock Bootloader and flash anything from Fastboot
With FRP=Factory Reset Protection unlocked you (only) have:
- 'annoying' note that phone is not secure while booting
- ability to start Factory reset from Recovery and eRecovery (with licked FRP, Factory reset is only allowed once you login to the System, from Settings or Project menu)
- ability to unlock Bootloader and flash things
So, what if i wanna install Android 7 custom rom? How can i do it? Can i do it with TWRP'S special Open Kirin Edition directly from Stock Rom?
Can i upgrade my phone to Android 8 after i install Android 7 custom rom first or i have to do it with Rebrand / Update Tool first?
Because rebrand / update tool (or SRK Tool i am not sure) look so complicated and i am afraid to make hardbricked my phone... (i backed up my phone with HiSuite but i am not sure can i recover my phone with it if i unbrick my phone?)
I am using EVA-L09C464B389 rom now.... On the other hand, i cant be sure which AL10 (Oreo) rom is right for me, because when i search in russian page you offered, there is more than one alternative...
I hope i can explain what i mean with my poor English...

How do you install Noigat custom ROM? - decide which custom ROM you want to use and then find its documentation and learn there how it must be installed.
And/or, find the forum/thread about that custom ROM and read the OP posts, and ask your questions there
Which AL10 ROM you want to install...bxs on Russian forum there are alternatives? - If you want to follow XDA guide, then READ it and you will find answer there.
But if you want to follow Russian guide, then register to the Russian forum and ask your questions there
Good night and good by, I'm disconnecting from this thread and will no more read/answer - good luck
Dear @zgfg
First of all thanks for all your answers, but I am not use Russian forum same time with here. The page you advice me (in xda), and the application in there, using Russian webpage to dl stock roms... Sorry if I make you angry...
Hi there,
i bought new Zenfone 5 with Oreo and updated OTA up to Pie (WW_16.0615.1903.92).
Higher Version was not offered with OTA. Therefore I updated to latest Pie by transfer into phone memory (WW_V16.0615.2005.130) which was succesful.
My intention was to root with latest clean firmware using Magisk-Manager and adb flash.
Unfortunately both Asus unlock apk from their website are not working (message: "unknown network error, please try again later").
Is it not working due to Pie ?
Is it possible or helpful to downgrade to Oreo?
Any idea how to solve it ?

Can I downgrade the Samsung Bootloader from SW Rev 3 to 2?
Hi, I want to downgrade my SM-A310F to earlier Android versions, but Odin blocks this with the Error: "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3. BINARY: 2." So apparently I can only install firmware files which come with the same Bootloader I'm currently...

i saw this and thought maybe its possible

I have seen a few posts on downgrading OS version. They have been on older android version nothing on recent versions. I have not tried any methods to downgrade as most methods i've read there can be issues with doing so (if it works at all) in regards to something not working properly . Also all the methods i've seen don't downgrade you bootloader version.
Hi ; my device is G975F Exynos and Original CSC is NEE. İ am on Android 11 Firmware which is G975FXXSEFUJ2.
i plan to go back to Android 10. i do not know my device's bootloader is unlocked or not. And also do not know is it available for bootloader unlocked or not.
What shall i do ? is it possible to go back to Android 10 for this device safely ?
I'm telling my own experience with my G973F, short answer: no
My phone has a unlocked bootloader and i have TWRP, i mistakenly flashed a wrong (lower) bootloader version, and my phone didn't boot anymore, i was only able to recover using download mode.
Older android versions have older bootloader, if you manage to install an older bootloader you phone will only give a message in the top of the screen saying something like "SYSTEM REV. CHECK FAIL DEVICE 8 BINARY 7"
You can only install a lower android version if that android rom works with your current installed bootloader
