After someone shared a tutorial on how to do bootologists I decided to do some relatively basic ones, I hope you like them.
(As I am someone relatively new to the forum, I do not know how to put the bootlogo images, although I must clarify that the .zip is decompressed and then flashed from fastboot)
I will try to investigate to be able to flash the logos from the twrp, if it is possible or you are interested in a specific image you can say it without pain, If possible I will do a few based on anime (depends on how it looks), although I think that for some reason in pokerp the colors highly detailed logos look weird.

these are the images of the bootlogos :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
New Logos Geek style , to install do it from fastboot, The logos have the same name as the images, I did that so they are not confused

After munging about in the forums, lurking and trying to absorb your knowledge, I'm still mysified by how to non-destructively put android on my friend's phone.
It's ether I can't find the files/the info is outdated, or it simply doesn't work.
Here is the skinny -
I own a reflashed and rooted Motorola droid, so flashing a phone isn't that much of a mystery to me.
My friend has a U.S. Vogue CDMA, however it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that we do not touch the nand. He uses it for development and has a few hundred dollars in apps that he has purchased for WiMo. We would like a stright boot directly from the flash card.
SO I guess, here is a run down of what I'm looking for
What files do I need to boot 2.1 off of a flash card? A file manifest with a decent description of what the files do would be helpful. I'll give an example..

I don't think that sentence is in English. I just can't parse it. What is an nbh and what does it do. Is it a bootloader? What is it's payload? Now this is from the tutorial to flash the nand, which is not what I want to do, but it's giving an example of what I'm finding.
I'm under the instructions of "you can put android on my phone, just don't screw anything up", so clear and full explanations would be very helpful...
Any particular reason why you guys just don't package this? On my droid, the whole OS is on a simple update.zip file I have to run with a loader. Are not at that point yet?
There are plenty of guides for installing and running android from the sd card.
Just like on your 'droid' forums all you have to do is search

You need to be looking at this post. There isn't a way to boot straight to Android on the Vogue without nuking your WinMo installation.
To install 2.1, you're going to need "haretinstall.zip" and "zImage-eclair" from the Sourceforge page linked in that post. Unzip haretinstall.aip to /sdcard/andboot and replace zImage with zImage-eclair.
Still at Sourceforge, you need to go down to the "2010-01-29" folder and download "eclair.zip". This should contain a file called "androidinstall.tar". Put that file in the andboot folder, but don't extract it. After this, you should be able to follow the instructions I linked.

This is pretty much all you're doing - you just have to jump through a few hoops to get the loader installed since this phone came out about a year before Android was even announced.
Also, make sure he's not expecting this to work perfectly or be super-fast. Bluetooth doesn't fully work with Eclair yet and the Vogue is working with about 1/4th the processing power of the Droid and N1.
you can use y gen dual boot to bring you up to a nice gui to pick what u want to boot into on reset if you would like. Almost like a boot loader. Get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
Hello, Im new here to the community and I am (of course) loving my rooted, ROM'd Droid. I have been trying custom boot animations, which is quite easy to do. My problem is, I found a ''basic'' bootanimation (here in the Eris section), and decided that I should try to customize it (as it was only text on the boot animation). I edited each .png file, saved, rezipped, and flashed. Now all I get is a black screen before boot.
I tried to change the size (in the desc.txt) but that didnt work either. I was hoping someone could look at it and let me know where I have went wrong. Like I said, all I did was add/move words on the .pngs.
I am including the original boot animation: 'YearoftheDroid.zip' and then the one I edited: 'bootanimation.zip'. Any help would be greatly apprectated, as I want to get rid of the Motorola Logo also.

Oh yeah, the original YearoftheDroid.zip boot animations works fine on my Droid before I edit it.
(Also, is there a program for me to test boot animations on my pc before I try it on the Droid? I did see one post with it, but it was sent via pm, so I could not find a download link.)
The file sizes are way off, is this why? Also, why would the file size change so dramtically if all I am doing is moving text and adding the 'DROID' logo? (I would think that my edited one would be bigger).

Hey guys i am starting this thread here as i find there are so many people asking questions and bricking their phones.I just want to help out people and save them from bricking their phones..
i have tried all Froyo based roms available for the captivate.i have good experience in rooting,clockworkmod and flashing roms.I would like to help out all new members here as much possible because just 2 months back i had trouble finding out things...

If you would want help out with this. I believe that it could help the q&a and other section of the captivate thread a lot by reducing the number of brick threads
If either of you have experience with web coding, perhaps it would be worthwhile to make up a page that has an interactive checklist of brick steps. Sort of a step-by-step troubleshooter.
For example, the first page could just be the question about whether the phone shows any signs of life at all or not, then have a page with selectable items about the Rom/kernel/modem setup, then move into more specific items.
See the attached zip for what I'm talking about.

I saw the zip and got what you are saying i liked it. I have a decent hold over html & java so i must be able to create that....!
But i will need space to host it....!
Perhaps in lieu of hosting space, save it as an all-in-one zip file and post it on here. You wouldn't need a large amount additional space (I assume) as there probably wouldn't be a huge need for images. If that's the case, it would be all text, which should be fairly small.

Wow jmtheiss you took my idea to the next level, i never though of making it interactive. But that my be the key that really will make it work.
sorry adicool I'm no good with HTML or coding i will have to leave that to you. But I have a knack for graphic design. Plus I can find and collect the images that could be use as examples (ex. like a soft brick screen)

Thought here: The one package is good. I'm also thing that we can have each section posted package as a separate package too (along with the whole package). So those who only need one thing like rooting the can just download that section

I assume i have Eclair/Froyo bootloaders, right? I've installed ROM Manager Premium, clicked flash clockworkmod, and to reboot to recovery but it's only stock recovery. How should i proceed? Also i need some enlightment on bootloaders: if i flash the newest GB ATT bootloaders will every ROM work with it? Thanks in advance!
Go to the general section, there is a thread called "sticky roll-up" in there is a link to a thread called "e: signature verification failed" that is the work around you need for cwm (or any zip) to flash
Or you can flash a froyo kernel that has cwm baked in with odin like speedmod...
I wouldn't mess with bootloaders st this point in your flashing experience that its the only time you risk a real hard brick do leave those alone until you know for sure what you're doing.

I would advice you to first try flashing a few froyo based roms just to gain experience in flashing after that you can move over to GB
as told by my friends here there is a thread here that fixes that cwm problem .!
If you still need help or cant find it do post here and i would be more than happy to help...!whatever you do just dont mess with bootloaders atm as they can cause your device to be bricked...
I would say start off first by flashing cognition 4.5.3....!

Thanks, i was able to get CWM to work with speedmod kernel, so i take your advice now and try out some froyo roms!

The information looks good, i saw that on the flash back to stock you didn't put hemdiall. Since linux and mac users cant use odin

yeah i saw your attempt it was decent enough mate,if you want to try more software try adobe dreamweaver it will help you develop web pages without html
dreamweaver would be great but my current computer wouldn't be able to handle it and i dont have the money for it. muse is free until the final product is done that why im using it.

I have an M7 on a stock HTC/AT&T ROM running Lollipop 5.0.2 with Sense 6.0.
I would like to root the device so that I can do things like eliminate ads, remove bloatware, run more advanced software, etc., but I do not want to loose things like Beats Audio/Boom Sound. So I'm thinking I just want to stick with the stock AT&T/HTC M7 ROM.
I have seen reference to the Sunshine App, but unless someone can tell me it does something absolutely magical for the one-use $25 payment they expect, I'm fine doing it the free way. I got the impression about Sunshine that it doesn't actually get you all the way to root. If it got me all the way and saved my data/apps, too, I'd be all over it.
Can someone please give me the full path of steps I need to go through to get this done? I'm not a dumb guy. Pretty computer savvy, actually, but there is a lot of jargon and intermediate steps that seem to be involved in all of this. Some of the videos I'm seeing are quite dated at this point, and I have to wonder if they are relevant to an AT&T M7 on Lollipop a this point. But I thrive on step-by-step tutorials, so if you guys point me to the right videos or written tutorials, I should be fine.

/ enter recovery
Exit recovery choose yes to Root
when the phone boots up go to the SuperSU Icon in the app drawer
it will ask to update / choose TWRP
after it reboots your rooted

Thanks, but I think you are making a few too many assumptions that I understand what your saying.
I don't think I can just flash twrp before unlocking the bootloader, am I right? And I have no clue how to flash twrp, how to set up to do that, and what to have where. I can do the steps if I know what they are. So I really am looking for a pretty explicit set of steps. You've given me some steps, yes, and thank you for that(!!), but I think you're coming from a position of already knowing exactly what you are doing and all the ramifications of each and every step you would take, so by the time it gets to me it just sounds like the cliffs notes and I'm still wondering what the novel is about.
And, yes, I get that some of you here answer these kinds of noobie questions a lot, and it just gets tedious repeating yourselves. Unfortunately for us noobies who come looking to the experts for the straight-up how-to, the responses all seem like "just do this, do that" without any discussion of how to do this and how to do that. I've read several "how do I root my phone" threads here, but the answers all seem just a little to Greekish to me, and to others too I would imagine. Hi,
I know its 2019, four years since you posted this request, but I just pulled my HTC One M7 AT&T after 3 years and had the exact same query and needed a way to ensure that steps mentioned in posts like these in 2015 are still relevant/applicable on our device running Android 5.0.2 with HTC Sense 6.
I was looking to have a device specific tutorial to finally make the plunge to install a custom ROM (someone ported Android 10 to this device!) , but remember there being some complexities back in the day to do this on our device. Were you able to get around this? Look forward to your response.

I have everything ready to install Magisk on my LG G4 LS991ZVI and I have ready many tutorials and believe I am clear on the steps but I am using the method without TWRP, where the Magisk manager does patching of a stick boot image and I cannot find what I believe to be a legitimate stock boot image anywhere on the net! (I'm sure I just dont' know where to look)
Anyway, this is the first time I've ever modified a phone so forgive me if this is a really simple question, but if anyone could tell me where to download this image or send it to me I would be very grateful!
