Hi All,
I have recently bought unlocked xperia 1 ii US version and this phone supports Verizon (cdma less) network. I use Visible provider (Visible uses Verizon network). Now when i insert Visible sim into my new phone.. It treats it as verizon sim and applies Verizon Apn settings I believe but to make Visible network work it needs visible specific APN settings. But there is no way to add APN settings manually, apn settings menu goes away when i insert visible sim but i am able to see apn settings when i insert tmobile sim, can you please help me and let me know how to manually add Visible APN settings as I dont see option to add APN when I insert Visible sim
On my phone (international model) go to Settings > Network and Internet > Mobile Network > Advanced the last option is Names of Accespoints. If you press there, you get in the APN screen. on the top there is a + sign .

Were you ever able to figure this out? I'm wanting to give Visible a try as well but I've ran into this same issue. Oddly enough, US Mobile works just fine using the standard Verizon APN
No man, it didn't work, had to switch my provider

I was able to add the APNs in by adding them while my Mint SIM card was in the phone and swapping the SIM cards back and forth while I was saving them if one wouldn't let me save due to an APN type. It was kind of a waste of time though because even after successfully getting all 4 APNs in and selecting the right one for Data, nothing happened and it didn't really matter if I was rebooting the phone or switching in and out of airplane mode. It seems that no matter what I did, the phone would not connect to the carrier which is a shame. Maybe it would work on an AOSP ROM but I don't think I could be bothered just to try a carrier on it.

Hi everyone. I have been doing a tonne of reading trying to figure out a couple of things for my Treo 750.
It is a Rogers phone for which I paid an online service provider to unlock. I am using my FIDO SIM in it without any problems.
It says I am always roaming and although assurances from FIDO I won't be charged Roaming fees, it gets kind of annoying everytime I check my email that it tells me I am roaming and asks if I am sure I want to do this....
So, I understand there is carrier specific info in the carrier.pxp file. I am told the Rogers network code is in this file.
Am I able to edit this to include the FIDO network code 302370 so the phone doesn't think it is always roaming?
Would it be better to unbrand / unlock the phone to WM6.1 via the methods I see here in the forums? [dubLeE's method].
Thanks everyone,
Ryan
It has nothing to do with your phone. It's the fact you are using the Fido GSM card on a Rogers network. It has nothing to do with whether your phone is locked or unlocked, and changing the carrier code won't do anything.
To disable the roaming network check when you check email, from Outlook Mobile go to Tools -> Options, choose the email account you've setup, then go to Send/Receive Schedule -> Advanced Settings -> check "Use automatic send / receive schedule when roaming"
Hi number16. Thanks for the reply.
The "Use automatic send / receive schedule when roaming" doesn't seem to prevent the "You are currently roaming. Synchronizing may result in additional charges" dialog box when the schedule is set to manual. In fact, the checkbox is greyed out and not selectable with a manual schedule. Even with an automated schedule configured, you are still prompted when doing a manual send/receive.
I was thinking that if the phone was configured such that it thought its' home network carrier code was the FIDO code, it wouldn't consider me roaming.
Anyways, sounds like I am stuck with it. Thanks again for the info
I have the exact same problem with my work Exchange email on a Rogers Touch Diamond. The roaming has to be defined by the ROM or registry. When I put my Fido SIM in a Rogers Samsung Jack flashed with the Fido ROM, there is no issue with roaming.
Hi there,
Same issue here, I am using my unlocked Treo 750 from Rogers on Bell network.
It works fine, except for the roaming issue.
How to get rid of that triangle icon on the top?
Were you able to edit the carrierDB.pxp file?
Please help.
Did you change your network settings over to the correct settings for the network of the SIM card you are using?
Unlocking a phone will allow other SIM cards to work, but if you don't change your network settings, then the phone will still try to connect to the Rogers network.
How do i unlock the network, i have a samsung corby phone which is rogers based and am using a fido sim card. Everything works except the internet which comes up as network error. please let me know if you can help. email- [email protected], thank you.

This is a Palm Treo 750 forum. You should find a forum specific to your handset for exact instructions.
In general, your phone probably has a 'Settings' menu which would have some sort of option to edit your network settings. That's where you would make the change. You would have to get the proper settings from Fido.

If I have the APN set to the one for the network of the SIM Card I am using then will I not get charged roaming?
Is it possible for it to actually be roaming and me not knowing about it?
I just bought this new sim card.
Am not sure if it is internet ready
but I subscribed to a plan
And was given an activation reply.
I turned on the mobile network on my
Galaxy Note 1 but I noticed that the
Mobile network icon isn't coming up.
But I used it with a different Sim card 3days
Earlier and it worked fine.
Can anyone Help me pls as the days are counting

I didn't check the apn settings but is it
Compulsory? If it is. Then I might have to
Go to the office of the network provider.

If the provider's APN details are not in the Samsung ROM then you will need to set them up manually.
Check out the provider's website, the APN details are probably there.
Without the correct APN details in your phone, you don't get mobile data.

Some of the carriers a new sim will take minimum 48 hrs to activate. Have you tried a working sim card ? So whatever replacements on Sim card please give 48 hrs before checking. if you really wish to check settings > more settings> Mobile networks> Network operators ---- see if you are able to find your service provider, takes some time to pop out. Select and then check. Also on this same page ensure "Select Automatically" is enabled.
Another thing you need to check is settings > more settings> Mobile networks> select Mobile data if you want data access.... Hope this helps.
By the way Note is a beautiful device, never gets issues unless some external problems....so dont worry.

There is a way to access the APN list using a hidden programming menu. I don't know if the dialer shortcut will work on the version you have, but to try it, dial ##7764726 if it works and asks for a password, use 000000
One of the options should be APN controls. Hopefully T-Mobile US will be one of the APNs.
Is it possible that there might be a problem with your SIM card since some features work and others dont?

I'll try that.
It's US Cellular phone but I use T-Mobile SIM card, it was a brand new sim card. When I dailed, I kept getting "Welcome to Verizon Wireless"
Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes in a few hours.
According to US Cellular's webs site, their device supports CDMA/EVDO, since you are trying to use it on T-Mobile, you'll need to manually switch the phone to GSM/UMTS mode, or Global Mode. (App drawer -> Settings icon -> (under Wireless & Networks) More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode).
While in there under Mobile Networks, you'll also need to tap on Access Point Names... If the APN settings came down automaticlly from T-Mobile you need to select it. If no entry for T-Mobile exists, you'll need to find the settings and create one. (Google found them when I looked) NOTE: with Android JB 4.2.2 on my Verizon X (XT1060, also supports CDMA/EVDO in addition to LTE and GSM), the APN settings came down automatically. After upgrading to KitKat 4.4, I had to manually enter them.
When I setup my Verizon X for use with my T-Mobile SIM, I couldn't get MMS working for some reason, even though I was using the same APN settings as my T-Mobile Galaxy S3.
Also, keep in mind that T-Mobile uses 1700/2100 AWS for their HSPA+. As far as I know, only the T-Mobile version and GSM Developer edition supports this band, so you might not get "4G HSPA/HSPA+" with your X even after setting it up correctly. If you are lucky, and are in one of the areas where T-Mobile has completed re-farming their spectrum, you will get H+.
Good luck.

Based on that screen shot, your preferred network mode is still set to LTE/CDMA... that is wrong for T-Mobile. (SEE POST #12 of this thread!!) You want it to be GSM/UMTS or GLOBAL!! And you want to have the boxes checked for Data Enabled and Data Roaming.
You do not have options for Global Data Roaming Access and Access Point Names which I have on my Verizon Moto X, so that makes me question a few things....
In the first post you say you successfully unlocked your phone.. do you mean SIM Unlocked, or BootLoader Unlocked??
Also in the first post you mention seeing a message each time you reboot.. What exactly does the message say?
I ask because if you unlocked the boot loader, your phone could still be SIM locked and therefore not recognizing the T-Mobile SIM properly, and not giving you the Global options and APN options needed for GSM mode.

Yes, if not SIM unlocked, you're stuck. You need to get it SIM UNLOCKED.
Take a look at this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422854 apparently some are using cellunlocker [.net] to get their X SIM unlocked, although they don't have US Cellular listed when I picked MOTO X from their list, so you might have to pick "Unknown" or "not listed" for the carrier.

Do I need my SIMcard to be active? My current phone doesn't take the nano sim card, I had to reactivate my old sim card.
hi
i got the phone from korea, the problem is when connecting to 4G the phone would lose internet and calls then lose the network, i get a message saying "failed to register to network (15)" but if i forced the phone to connect to 3G then it works fine. here's what i tried to fix the problem :
turning off the mobile network then turning it on
resetting the network settings
removing NR Whitelist
and none of them fixed the issue. there's a korean menu in the service mode, but i didn't miss with it. i have attached screen shots of the software information and the korean menu in the service menu.
Who provides your service? Have you tried going into network settings and APN and see what that says
If it is a Korean phone and you aren't in Korea and it is locked into the network then you won't be able to get service somewhere else I don't think

im using my local non korean sim card and it's working fine, and im also using my local sim's APN settings, the sim card is not korean and nor are the APN settings.
i want to exhaust all my available options before i go for the format.
So I have an AT&T branded, carrier unlocked, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 model number SM-N960U and I'm currently using Straight Talk as my carrier with a SIM card that uses AT&T towers. Voice Over LTE is disabled on it for AT&T towers and I've been trying off and on every time I get frustrated with my backup phone's cracked screen to find some way to make it function again but to no avail.
Anyone know of any magical fixes for this? I've done quite a bit of searching for answers and I've tried a bunch of things but not come up with any real fix for the problem...
Things I've tried include multiple different APN settings, turning on VoLTE Provisioning manually by dialing ##4636## (VoLTE Provisioned is grayed out with AT&T sim card but not other carriers cause of course it is), I've called Straight Talk and had them do whatever it is they do on their end multiple times with no success and unfortunately the only carrier we get signal with in my area is AT&T or I would be happy to just switch to a Verizon SIM. I also tried looking for a way to root the darn thing (and tried using the rom I found in another thread here to change it from N960U to N960U1 but mine must be on a different update than that rom) cause I'm sure with access I could bypass all AT&T's crap but my security update is too recent to allow for root access so I'm worried it may just be stuck...
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm so frustrated with this phone I'm half tempted to chuck it out my window lol.
Hi, @cloudyrei
I am currently on Old Folks Cellular/Consumer Cellular with an AT&T sim.
Had to change sim cards after the recent 3G shutdown because IMS no longer registered.
Are you using a launcher that can access activities on your N9?
If not, please download Activity Launcher from the F-droid store. I use it on N9 and N20U.
In the Activities menu, please search for: "Call Settings" - this will be found under Call Settings (com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity) and create a shortcut
"Mobile Network" - this will be found under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.network.telephony.MobileNetworkActivity) and create a shortcut
"Phone info" is also listed under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.RadioInfo) and create a shortcut
Please open "Phone info" and select "LTE only" at the "Set preferred Network Type."
This menu also shows Data network type and Voice network type, which should display "LTE."
On my N9, the "Call Settings" will not have anything selected underneath "Network" or "Band Selection."
Hopefully, you can access your mobile network settings for Straight Talk via "Mobile Network."
Then check settings for your SIM card status in "About phone."
Oh! Thank you for that app! That helps a lot so I don't have to type that string into the dialer every time!
Unfortunately this is what I'm looking at with LTE only selected and I also went through the whole list and tried every one of them just in case and they all look the same only with some variation in signal strength but that's about it...
You are welcome, @cloudyrei, and so sorry that I couldn't help you.
Please set your phone back to its original mobile network settings.
Please remove your screenshot because it has your phone number and other info on it.
Is your phone on Android 10, One UI 2.5?
I looked around for Straight Talk's (AT&T) APN settings, and found this:

Before tinkering with your apn settings, you may want to contact Straight Talk to confirm you have 4G LTE.
I had to contact the service provider for a new sim card because it would not register the IMS.
Here's the settings on my N9:
Oh heck you're right! I thought about that maybe having my info on it awhile after I put it up but forgot to go back and check! I haven't gotten any weird calls yet at least so woo!
Yes my phone is on Android 10, One UI 2.5
I reverted the mobile network settings and tried the other APN and it does make it so the mobile data works, however, I still can't make phone calls or text.
I'm sure I have LTE as all of the things function normally with the sim in the backup phone with the cracked screen I have, It's a Galaxy S10.
Here's my settings in the Note 9 as of now. I cropped out the part with my number and such this time lol.
Are you turning off the power in your N9 when you place the SIM card in it, @cloudyrei?
Thank goodness you did not receive any strange phone calls. lol
Does Straight Talk send you a "configuration message" via text for your APN, SMS, and browser settings when you place your SIM in your N9?
I do not download the configuration message for APN, SMS or browser settings.
I noticed that downloading each one changes the default SIM.
If you downloaded the configuration message settings, you could try setting it back to the default settings for your SIM by going into "Settings," "Connections," "Mobile Networks," then "Access Point Names."
Then reset to default by clicking on the 3-button menu.
Please power off your N9 if you reset the SIM.
Remove SIM, wait a few, Insert SIM, then power on.

I had to request a new SIM from CC after the 3G shutdown.
The IMS would not register on the N9 or N20U.
The SIM card I had to replace was originally used in an unlocked Galaxy Note8, which was on Consumer Cellular network with a T-mobile SIM.
The new SIM is an AT&T SIM.
I remember reading that some N9 owners had problems after the 3G shutdown and had to get a new SIM.
Then, I tinkered around with the "Phone settings," (from Activity Manager's shortcut) and set it to LTE only.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I bought my sister a Note 9 specifically for the deprecation of 3/2G.
Verizon finished sunsetting their towers recently and now my sister's N960U cannot even connect to the towers that would send config messages. And "VoLTE provisioned" is not enabled.
This sim works in other VoLTE phones and gets provisioned. Its only the N9 that won't provision.
One thing I noticed was the IMEI number under Phone Info is one number off from the IMEI that shows under "About Phone" is this normal?
I would figure that the IMEI should be complete in "Phone info" and maybe thus us the reason why Straight Talk can't provision VoLTE?
@rjones97
My apologies for replying so late to your questions about your sister's Note9.
Were you able to receive service with Straight Talk for her phone?
Unfortunately, we haven't. Straight Talk support is assuring me that everything is configured correctly on their side. The last thing they did was submit a report to Verizon about the account. They said to expect a reply the next day, but nothing came through.
Hi, @rjones97
Is your sister's N9 unlocked?
If your sister had service w/ Verizon/Straight Talk before Verizon ended service for 2/3G, you may want to ask if they will send you another SIM card for her Note9.
I had to get another SIM (AT&T) from Consumer Cellular because the IMS service would not register.
Or you could try these settings on this webpage to see if her phone will work.
