I think older methods is not working. About ban and error notification is possible fix. I make it on P40 Pro EMUI 10.
Now we need a method for EMUI 11 on Mate 40 Series.

Yepp this is the one to go to. I also posted an instruction post too based off his videos. This still works as of latest firmware on chinese Mate 40 series.
If you have china version of mate 40 pro There are so many teach you how to install gms search youtube. Just remembe don't update your phone you can update after you installed gms

You have to write here the all firmware (Cxxx).

Need your help to solve OTA update.
I bought my P40 pro in Sep'2020 and installed Google in October '2020 with YouTube vedio by Redskull of Mr. Alex.
For your information that my P40 is running excellent, all banking, wallets, food ordering apps including all google apps running smoothly.
The only issue I have is that not received OTA till date after I installed GMS. My phone is on EMUI 10 and build number is 10.1.0.131 (C636E8R6P1). Is it that I have done some error on installing the GMS that restricted to get OTA update?
If possible please help me on this issue so that I can get EMUI 11 and other security updates.
Appreciate your help in this regards.

If you want my advice: stay on that firmware version. Google and Huawei do a lot of work to block every possibility to install and run Google apps. On the last firmware they make a lot of sh..s. I stay on 10.1.0.121. (C432)

I also think you said the right thing. Since all is working fine woth GMS installed better stay as it is till Huawei has its own operating system plus Apps galary similar to the Google play store.

I think it's impossible. I'm in the same step. I downgraded from Official Hisuite to EMUI 11 and then downgraded again from HisuiteProxy to EMUI 10, but it was .178 which don't work with LZplay. So I need to go back to an older version of MIUI 10. We have to update to MIUI 11 and then downgrade to EMUI 10 with dload method, but the problem is that we can't use older versions because they don't allow us to install the firmware due to a ERROR message at the moment of checking the formware version. I suppose the problem is that we are on EMUI 11 (11.0.0.151) and we have to downgrade to an older MIUI 11 version to be able to downgrade through dload.

Go to My Huawei App, change location to Hong Kong, then at the bottom screen there is an option to download and install Harmony OS
