Downgrade Chromecast to bypass Youtube ads - Google Chromecast

Hey,
I'm looking to bypass youtube ads, that are getting more and more annoying everyday.
Do you think that downgrading chromecast to an older version (and blocking updates) would allow me to get youtube without ads, as it used to be a few years ago ?
Maybe setting a custom dns still works, but I've read that ads nowadays come directly from youtube.com
Did any of you tried that ?
Cheers

Installing Instagram/Facebook/Twitter?

Hey everyone, I read around the forum and some people mentioned that apps that require internet connectivity cannot be installed on the Gear.
However, I watched a review by Flossy Carter on Youtube ( youtube.com/watch?v=TAybMM3BBwA ) and by the end of the video you can clearly see that he installed Instagram, Facebook and Twitter on his gear! Anyone know how he did that?
I haven't bought a Gear yet but if this can be done I'm definitely getting one soon!
I watched the same video he wasn't on the internet you CAN install it but not use it

That's a shame I was really looking forward to getting one. So, there's no workaround for this, even in the future?
We can only hope...I'm still loving the watch rooted side loading apps its great!

Google Cast has crashed. Click this balloon to reload the extension."

Any time I try to cast from Chrome I receive this message. I have uninstalled all extensions, reinstalled just the chromecast extension, uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled Chrome, and at this point I'm hoping someone else has experienced this. Anyone think of a fix?
I have sent feedback multiple times.
help is always appreciated

Chromecast was working great, than all a sudden it started crashes with some sort of balloon message saying that the chromecast has crashed and to click on the balloon to restart it. I've heard that it's a damaged profile for the current user.. When you re-install Chrome, it uses uses the profile that is there, uninstalling Chrome doesn't do delete the profile. You can create a separate user and see if that works, or you can delete the profile for the current user and chrome creates it again. I haven't tried it because chromecast started crashing yesterday. I can't watch Netflix, YouTube, or cast anything. I just have a useless dongle.

It's just your Chrome browser extension that's broken, right? Things work okay if you use an Android/iOS device to cast to Chromecast, right?

This is a problem that I have on Windows. On Android it's not a problem for me. My Samsung s4 and my Goggle tablet work just fine.

On Android your not actually using the Googlecast Extension...They merely coded the Cast capabilities directly into the browser.
It may very well be working on Android's version of Chrome Beta...
But then again if I'm using my Android I don't need the Chrome Browser to cast much anyway. LOL Most of what I watch has an App that supports it.
(And yes I know the Browser will support websites that do not have apps, I'm just saying that because I don't really watch a lot of videos on other websites)
I am curious if it will work on the TV Networks Webpages though...
Thanks for telling me how Chromecast work on Android

Well, I tried everything and the Chromecast still crashing. I must be using the latest version of Chromecast and the latest version of Chrome (probably the cause). Google updates something (Chrome or Chromecast) and then things you depended on stop working.. I'm also using Android. And yes, used to work on TV Networks Pages, but you have to put Chromeast on 480p, The 720p setting stutters both in sound and picture. But then, it is a Beta, so we have to be patient. Do you know where I can fine previous versions of Chrome? (I use Windows to play TV Network pages and movies not found on Netflix.)

I'm also not convinced this isn't due to some wonky behavior in Google Services.
It happens totally at random even when your just reading a web page which says to me it has something to do with scanning for units or connecting to GServices that seems to set it off. Cause it sure isn't doing anything else when it crashes.

It has do something that Google did in the greatest and latest version of Chrome or Chromecast (thanks for the tech explanation, Asphyx) . It was working just fine on the old what I guess was a old version of Chrome for more than 2 months, that's when a got the Chromecast dongle. Is there any way of getting older versions of Chrome? I'd love to fix this problem since I watch a lot of movies in the browser, it's the only way. I'm one of those strange guys who got rid of cable and just use the antenna, and Netflix and free movie sites. Hey, I save $65. Thanx for the help.

Oops, Shouldn't be here

I 've a problem here. So i am posting my query here if any of you experts can help me.
I have successfully setup my chromecast and its running fine with bubbleUnp.
But the problem is i cant cast any video using youtube app on my android device. it always says "Oops shouldn't be here"...
I am starting to hate this phrase now. kindly anyone help me what is the problem and why my chromecast cant cast youtube app?
A few questions...
Does the same video play from YouTube on your phone/tablet or a computer?
Are you using any DNS/region relocation services like Unotelly, Unlocator, etc?
Are you using a VPN?

1. Yes i can play it without any error, as normally played on the Youtube app.
2. No, i am not using any such service.
3. No i am not using VPN.
supporting information:
Youtube is officially blocked in my country (Pakistan), thus youtube cannot be accessed using internet browser. But if i use youtube app in my android using wifi i can access youtube and can play all videos. If i do the same over mobile data, its restricted. I can understand that browser or mobile data doesnt support youtube because it has been blocked by our Government but how is it possible i can use it on android app?
Lets assume authorities have left a loop hole here that it can be played using android youtube app but it can not be played using browser, then why chromecast cant play it? does it work on the pattern or structure of a web browser?

Exactly that. Your phone isn't retrieving the YouTube data and passing it to Chromecast.
Chromecast is a separate autonomous client. It's like if you see something on your phone and read the URL to your friend who puts that into their YouTube client. So whatever loophole exists on your phone, Chromecast doesn't have it.

p30 pro microg and youtube vanced problem.

hi guys,

Disable Chrome browser, log into YouTube vanced and then you can enable Chrome again. That worked for me.
Is it me or do ads at start of a video still find a way to play?

Chromecast with Google TV ad blocking

I'm trying to figure outdifferent approaches and I kind of run into a wall here.
I don't just want to block youtube ads, I want to block all ads within the Chromecast. I'm somewhat tech savvy but not advanced with routing. So far I've side loaded adguard onto the Chromecast and installed it successfully. However, I've not found a way to install the certificate for https. I've been looking into ways to do that but I'm not sure it's possible.
I bought a raspberry pi to try to figure out how to do adguard and managed to install it but then somehow I couldn't log back in so that's another mess I'm trying to figure out.
Thirdly I've already screwed up my router so I might as well try to figure out how to install open wrt.
Can anybody give me some advice about which way to go and what's the best method? Or am I missing something? Like rooting the Chromecast? I've always rooted my phone's I mean it will that make a difference?
There is currently no root for Chromecast with Google TV.
You should be able to block ads via PiHole but you'll probably run into problems and need to whitelist some links depending on what apps you use.
There's also apps like this that you could use or VPNs with ad-blocking built-in. Though, apps like Amazon Prime, Hulu, and some others can tell if you're using a VPN on it sometimes. I've also never been able to really block ads on those on Google TV.
I have a paid VPN with adblocking but what I mostly do is use apps like SmartTubeNext (SmartYouTube predecessor now that it's defunct) and then I'll use Lucky Patcher to patch out ads on any really ad-heavy apks. However, this can't be done for apks like Hulu, Amazon Prime (free w/ ads section), etc.
I've used Blokada to try to block ads, without luck. I've tried blocking almost everything google, I only ended up having Google TV think it's offline, and would not provide access to the applications list.
I have a raspberry pi with AdGuardHome and it works on apps, but not on YouTube since they're served from the same domain.
Casting from phone to TV will show up ads no matter what. So the best alternative is to use smarttubenext, which is great and updated frequently.
I wouldn't root it even if it was possible though, you may break your widevine level.
If you have any doubt regarding AdGuardHome you can send me a pm or telegram
I sideloaded Adguard onto mine and it works fine out of the box. The only thing I can't enable on it is https filtering since there is no app available that can save the certificate. I've even tried sideloading Google Files but that didn't allow me to save the certificate either. For now, I don't think it's possible to save the crt file for https filtering on the Chromecast.
I'm using a stock Chromecast HD with Google TV.
