Hello to all!
I have my Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro for almost a year now. It is a very well built smartphone indeed and I'm having a great time using it - at least most of the time.
For a while now I've been having problems particularly with the Netflix app. Everytime I use my smartphone to stream something from Netflix to my Google Chromecast, it keeps rebuffering the media over and over again. It sometimes stays steady but out of nowhere it starts buffering again. Sometimes taking a couple of seconds, other times taking 2 or more minutes to start playing the media back.
I've done a lot already: reached out Netflix’s support but no one was able to help; reseted the Chromecast; erased Netflix’s cache; changed the wifi connection; restarted the wifi router; reinstalled the app; altered the settings on the app (Battery performance, auto-start, permissions, etc.). Nothing worked!
The funny thing is that this never happened before. I don’t know if it is something directly related to the latest MIUI version but I couldn’t find this same issue on the internet. And it only happens with Netflix! I use other streaming services such as Amazon Prime and Youtube, and whatever I want to stream using Chromecast, it works just fine with no rebuffering issues. Even with live steaming.
Does anyone know about this issue or might have any clue on how to fix it?
My MIUI version is the Global 12.0.3 (Android 10) which is the latest one for me. Since the purchase, the system must have been updated about 3 or 4 times tops with major updates.
Any help will be very much appreciated!

So, here I got my new Mi5 32GB. Was excited to play Marvel's Contest of champions(The only game I play !!). However when I tried to download and install the game, it just crashed while loading the game. Was connected on WiFI in home while playing the same. Now tried to play the game on mobile data, still same. However the weird thing here is, it loaded and worked just fine while I was on mobile data in my office. Thinking it was a coincidence, tried the same multiple days to same pattern.
I have tried disabling the battering restrictions and other from security manager, even have reseted the phone itself, still same issue.
Am running on MIUI 8. Please help guys.
Hi, I've been trying to chromecast for the last few days. I came from a Nexus 6p which worked 100% with chromecast. If i use the web browser and try to cast from a video channel, it never connects to my chromecast or TV (with chromecast built in). I've tried the mirroring option but it never finds a chromecast. I've downloaded Google Home, that seems to have a bug where i can't login to my google account from my P20 Pro.
I've looked online and on here and haven't seen any other posts on it. It would be good to test. I am on the Dual Sim Three UK 8.1.0.102 (C782) variant.
Thanks
It has worked flawlessly using local cast app.
I've always found Google home glitchy.

Works flawlessly for me. I've had the P20 Pro since release and I've never had a problem using a Chromecast, although I did recently factory reset my Chromecast, so that may have fixed any issues.
I use Chromecast several times a day, and haven't noticed anything odd.
I'm using Chrome browser to play web-videos and the Google Home app to mirror the screen.
Haven't used the built-in cast/mirror feature, but that has never worked reliably for me on any device
Thanks all, i wonder what is happening here. Even the Google home app isn't working. It's like an authentication error in the app. Chromecast doesn't connect to either of my chromecast devices. Works fine on my old phone still. I wonder if it's my firmware. I am on .102 which i know is really old. Waiting for Three/Huawei to update...

Chromecast mostly works for me. The only thing that doesn't is volume controls from screen off. Apart from that, and the few normal Chromecast glitches, it works well.
I'm casting NFL Gamepass from my P20 Pro to my Nvidia Shield as I type this, it's worked flawlessly whenever I've tried since I got my phone (mine is also dual SIM from Three).
This works very sporadically for me, often from apps that cast (excluding Netflix and YouTube which have a different mechanism for Chromecast discovery) it's as if the refresh devices button doesn't really trigger a proper refresh.
The Google home app often doesn't show my Chromecasts but if I keep it open and wait maybe 5 minutes they'll eventually show.
Anyone seen anything like this?
I had problem with NBA game time app, it didn't display the cast icon after update of the device to .107 but iwas probably due to the implementation of an old. Chromecast API from NBA app itself. After NBA has updated the app is working perfectly
I streamed YouTube to a chromecast this evening without any problem, worked like expected...
No issues here, sounds more like a network issue to me.

Have you guys tried it with apps other than youtube or netflix?
Those work fine for me but they use a different discovery method, see here;
actually... I can't post links but googling "netflix different chromecast discovery" and going to the google developers discovery troubleshooting confirms this.
Network is also ruled out for me as it's still working flawlessly on my old phone and my wife's phone.
I cast all the time from Plex so it's super annoying not being able to find the chromecasts for 10 minutes and the closing apps/G Home, rebooting etc trying to trigger a discovery.
Cheers,
Jon
Oh a further update to my theory of "the refresh/scan isn't working as it should"
I have a CC that turns off when the TV is turned off and this sometimes appears in the list of devices for hours after it's been turned off, like overnight.
I've tried a factory reset but it didn't help, it's across multiple apps so maybe something to do with discovery in the android discovery software itself?
I wish all the apps just used their own discovery like YT/NF.... grumble, grumble...
Further update...
I'm 90% sure this is due to some overly aggressive power saving. I've also noticed the BBC news widget doesn't update as much as it should.
Today I tested resetting a Chromecast and attaching it as a new one. Didn't work. Needed to use another device to get it set up with Google home. Not ideal. Be interesting to see if anyone else can attach a new Chromecast after factory resetting one if anyone fancies some troubleshooting for me?
Go on, be a pal.
Cheers,
Jon
Works flawlessly in streaming from playmovies to casting the screen
I stream from plex or YouTube to a chromecast without problem
Damn... Maybe it's just some devices or a firmware issue then.
I'm on 8.1.0.103, have you a later one? Might be stuck waiting for an update

I'm on .107 firmware, I never tried older ones.
Im also experiencing some problems with chromecast. Basically, some apps, like spotify, sometimes does not show my chromecasts under devices available.
After some tests, I think it is something related to the wifi strength and wifi+. If I disable the sim data, magically all the chromecasts around my house are correctly detected.
hi
i just got a car with android auto and im trying to get this to work. maps, navigation, phone works. the problem im having is with music, every time i try to open Pandora, google music or amazon music is says it seems not to be working. i tried with a pixel phone and it worked perfectly. any ideas on what to try? tried on emui 9 and today i got the update to emui 10. its a china phone. could that be the issue? i googled it at theres a lot of people with the same issue on different phones.
Hi,
You just have to disable the battery optimisation for every music app.
After that, it will work [emoji16][emoji16]
Envoyé de mon VOG-L29 en utilisant Tapatalk
I had all of that disabled. Still didn't work. But I got it fixed. Did a reset on the phone and now it does.
This will not be persistent
You have to configure the app and exclude it from battery optimizing. Huawei is quite aggressive with that.
You have to do that in 2 points:
settings, apps, apps, *the app you use*, details for battery consumption, app start => set everything to manual and allow it
settings, apps, apps, the three dots on the top right, special rights, battery optimization, *the app you use*, disable/don´t allow
Had the same problem. Before apps were sometimes working and sometimes not
Hi guys i also got the same problem.. was that the solution? To reset the phone? What apk version did u using? Is it also working with the newest apk version?
Do what I have written. Use it a few times a week without any problem
I will try your suggestion... And i will write if it's working or not
Hi, just tried your tricks, and it did not work. it worked for 10 min. then it crashed
I tried also suggestion with usb a 3.1 second gen to usb c . . . and it did not work also
which version of AA do you have on your phone?
i'm still on 4.5.592854
I suggest trying a lot of different cables (preferably the original cable) . I've had it work only with about 3 out of 12 cables, despite all of the cables working on my Samsung.
I have version 5.0.500224 and play music, Amazon music, and tune in radio play fine and start automatically in my Nissan. I would try updating you AA app.
Hi there,
in November last year I bought a brand new Google Pixel 5 and I gotta say that I'm quite happy with it, however there's been something quite annoying: sometimes it freezes and reboots itself when I'm using mobile data. I tried to figure out what was causing the issue and why it only happens when I'm using mobile data but I can't really find an answer. If I use WiFi, everything is fine, I can listen to the radio, watch videos on YouTube, have Teams calls, browse the web with Chrome etc, however if I try to do the very same things with mobile data in 4G (there's no 5G coverage in my area) it freezes and then reboots. It doesn't always happen, it seems to be happening randomly and I have no idea why. After rebooting, the app that crashed still has something in memory and if I try to open it without killing it first, it will immediately freeze the phone again and make it reboot again. It happened while I was watching videos on Facebook, it happened while I was watching videos on YouTube, it happened while I was browsing with Chrome, it happened during a Discord call, it happened during a telegram call, it happened while I was checking the NHS COVID-19 app... It can occur after few hours or several times an hour and I don't know what's causing it. Android is a Linux like OS, is there a way to check the journal and see what's happening? And on top of that, is there a way to let Google know and make Android automatically report crashes? The phone is still new, it's not rooted and I've only unlocked the developers options to force the refresh rate to 90Hz but that's it. I reached out to Google and they offered to replace the phone as soon as I send it (RMA) however I would like to find out first whether it's really an hardware problem or if it's Android 11 being unstable. I do have all the OS updates and all the apps are updated. What do you think? Oh last but not least, the SIM ain't an eSIM, it's a physical SIM placed inside the phone.
thank you in advance,
Frank

Have you tried resetting your network in settings? Were you using this same SIM in your old phone with no issues, or was it new? Have you tried to replicate the issue in safe mode to rule out an errant app? If resetting network doesn't work, just back up your data and factory reset the phone. Google may have suggested this already. It's pretty much their automatic response before RMA. Cheers.
Of course I tried to reset my phone and start from scratch but it didn't help. As to the SIM, it has been working fine on my old phone for years so it's not the one causing the issue. Besides, if I disable mobile data but I still use the phone to call other people using the carrier network, it doesn't have any issues at all. As to safe mode, it happened with Chrome and YouTube, standard Google apps, so I can rule out third party apps altogether. It's really weird.
I made a few more tests and it seems to be related to GPU Hardware acceleration. I said that it happened on Facebook, YouTube and Chrome and I thought about the common factor: I was watching videos. It happened while I was on Facebook watching videos, it happened while I was on YouTube watching videos and it happened while I was on Chrome visiting a website which had an ad in which there was a video playing.
Oh and it also happened when I opened the camera 'cause... guess what? Video!
What puzzles me is that it only happens in 4G but not in WiFi and I can't think of any possible reason why it's only occurring with mobile data...
Ok after trying to understand what happened I was finally able to solve the issue and it wasn't an hardware fault nor it was related to video. It was me using IPSec Xauth PSK with Always on VPN turned on. It turns out that using a third party application to connect via Open VPN fixed the issue. It's now more than a week and I've never had a single reboot or freeze or crash. I have no idea why, but all I can say is "stay away from IPSec Xauth PSK" guys, there's something deeply broken there. Anyway, I'm glad everything turned out to be ok.
Cheers,
Frank
I downloaded the 12.5 version while testing out some other ROMs since I like using MIUI unlike many people and I know Xiaomi would not full fill their global update promise for mi8 since its been like a year after they announced that 12.5 would come for mi8 as the last update. Only problem I have with it is the fact that I need to go into wifi settings and pick the wifi I want to connect for it to connect it, every god damn time. Then it says there is no internet connection and if I want to keep it or not and I say keep it then it starts functioning like it should. I don't understand why it keeps saying "there is no internet connection" in a wifi network while obviously there is nothing wrong with the wifi itself. In the original MIUI 12 version it instantly connected to existing wifi networks when it entered their range, automatically without me having to open the wifi settings. I tried resetting wifi settings and opening and closing the auto connect option as it was recommended in some videos but nothing helped.
So at the end it doesn't connect wifi networks because it thinks there is no internet connection at them and keeps using mobile data until I manually force it to connect. I eventually got use to it after a month or so but it is still bugging me. The phone is rooted and I am using add away, which did cause other problems in the past so I am kinda suspicious of it. Spotify is kinda busted with this ROM and I get like 2 hours and a half hours of screen time while scrolling through reddit at most which is stupid but the general inconvenience of using this is not greater then going through the suffering of loading a new ROM and reinstalling all of the stuff so can anyone help me to make it a less suffering experience. My battery is new but it is old stock from 2018 so it is as **** as the one it had inside for 3 years since Xiaomi doesn't provide new ones like Apple and Samsung as much as I understand. I will not buy a new phone since technological improvements stopped 4 years ago except useless cameras which I never use because the sensor size is too small anyway and you can't beat physics no matter how much post progressing you apply in phone camera software. Sorry for the long rant, I just felt the need of writing that last part out of boredom.
