pixel 5 camera app short cuts missing - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

I have a pixel 5 and I noticed that in the camera app, there is no longer the camera short cuts option where you can select wide-angle shots using 0.6x, (can't remember the mid-range angle), and 7.0x. now they have a slider option. this is similar to the older version app. I have the most updated operating system software as well as the updated camera app. I contacted google support (through chat) we went through uninstall reinstall the app, Clear cache, still no changes. Anyone have any suggestions on getting the settings back. I did not get any newer upgrade notices for this app. The last one was Dec 6, 2020

Instagram upload problem

Hi! I'm from the Philippines. I just want to consult about a problem of mine. My mother bought an S3 LTE (i-9305) from a local seller here. Upon opening, we learned that it came from Portugal (TMN). It says "Modified" on the status. It is also on Android 4.1.1.
Anyway, when I'm trying to upload a photo on Instagram, it will just freeze on the portion where I will choose the filter for the photo. It will be stuck like that for a few minutes and will just redirect me to its home page. I can choose the photo to upload but I can't upload it.
I tried clearing its cache on the Applications page and re-install the app, but to no avail.
I haven't noticed any problem with any of the apps installed, just Instagram.
I hope someone could help me.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I found this bit on their HELP page.
App crashes when applying a filter (Android only).
We are fixing an issue where the Android app crashes and returns users to the Instagram Feed screen (without uploading the photo) or crashes and returns to the device's home screen when trying to apply a filter.
Some users have fixed this issue by increasing the camera resolution setting from their device's camera settings, or by updating to the newest operating system available for their device.
Please note that some devices seeing this crash do not support OpenGL ES 2, which is the technology required to power Instagram's filters. Devices that do not support OpenGL ES 2 will not be able to run Instagram properly. Find more information on whether your device is supported.
How would I know that my S3 has OpenGL ES 2? The camera is already set to its highest resolution and has the newest OS (via Kies).

Creating photosphere

Hi,
I really like to create photosphere photos (not just panorama photos, real photosphere, where you can look upside and downside too) with my mobile, but I can't find working application for XZ1 Compact. I always use for this Google Camera (an old version, 4.2 I guess) but it's freezing on this mobile, while I try to make photosphere. New Google Camera won't work on our mobile and I can't find any 3rd party application to do this. I tried this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sphere&hl=cs, the only one I have found, but it has really bad rating and also I can't go throw it's login page... I will be greatfull for any suggestion
Thanks
I'm using Google Camera too, version 4.4.020 (from august 2017). I found it on apkmirror. I'm not experiencing any freeze with it, just a little slowness when it's elaborating the photo, but nothing else.
As of other apps, the very few I tried in the past (with a Z1 Compact mostly) didn't do a good work, so they were uninstalled in minutes.
Finally, I found and tried Google Camera 5.1 apk from Google Pixel and it's working fine with my phone

Ring.com doorbell - not receiving notifications

Hi,
I've recently got a Huawei P20 Pro and it's not receiving any ring notifications when someone rings my ring.com doorbell..
I've had a few instances where the notification has come through as it should, but literally 99% of the time i don't receive any notifications at all.
I've ran through all the steps outlined in their guide (How-to-Troubleshoot-Ring-Notification-Issues-for-Android-Devices - i can't link the URL as i'm a new member here) but none of it has made any difference.
I have checked all permissions, notification settings, disabled them, re-enabled them, cleared cache, cleared data, deleted the app, re-installed, set the "App Launch" options to allow to run in the background - all to no avail.
Got another phone (Samsung S7 Edge) set-up to receive the same notifications from the same doorbell - and that's receiving all of them absolutely fine.
My P20 Pro is running EMUI 8.1.0 and Android version 8.1.0.
I've raised a support ticket with Ring.com, but thought i'd also post here - as it seems likely this may be a P20-specific issue..
I have the same problem with Logitech Circle 2 security camera. I'm not getting every notification, but on my HTC U11 it works fine. I think it's some aggressive RAM management or Doze. I've just setteled with the reason beeing early firmware and that Huawei will fix it. A bit of a hassle, but I have never bought a phone at launch and not experienced any bygd yet. No matter if it was HTC, Samsung, Huawei, Sony and so forth.
The ram management is ridiculously aggressive. I have several apps that don't function correctly, despite removing them them from the app launch settings.
Some of them are really annoying, but I have an issue with Outlook on an office365 account not notifying me about really important work stuff.
Go to battery settings, app launch, and set it to manage manually with all the options enabled. You will probably need to do that for a few apps.

Have you disabled the 'Manage automatically' battery option?
Thanks guys.
It looks like it was the App Launch settings. I resolved the issue by performing the following steps;
1) Deleted ring.com app cache
2) Deleted ring.com data
3) Uninstalled ring.com app
4) Re-installed ring.com app
5) Amended the following App Launch battery settings; Settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > Ring > Battery > App Launch > Switched off Manage Automatically and enabled all 3 manual options; Auto-launch, Secondary launch and Run in background
i had the same problem and this worked
I talk to ring support and the are telling me that the app its not fully compatible with android 9.0
I recibe notifications if the app its open. But if the app its fully closed I don't recibe any notifications.
I already try the above solution but no luck.
I have the mate 2o X.
Any one have a work around?
Yes, I tried to the above fix too but it's still doing the same for me. If I open the app up it works for about 2 hours and then just stops working. I've even tried LOCKING the app window so it can't be closed and that won't work either. I had a OnePlus 5T previously and it worked perfectly on that, then i got this phone and it stopped working. My wife's app on her OnePlus 3T works fine. I'm getting really annoyed with it now as it's bloody pointless me having it.
I have a Mate 8, ring app notification would stop coming through not long after setting up the app but nest doorbell app works perfectly, same battery management setting on both apps.
Once battery management has been set, go to apps, apps, click 3 dots top right, special access, battery optimisation, where you see "not allowed" top left, set to "all apps" , now set the apps needed to "not allowed".
tested on huawei mate 20x emui 9.1

S10 and Apps optimization

Hi,
How is the camera integration with the Apps like Snapchat, Instagram or Google Duo. Does the experience/quality really better? Like IPhone?
''because Samsung also announced that it’s going to opening up its camera’s SDK so third party developers can start creating apps that draw on the camera’s full range of features''
https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/what-is-s10-instagram-mode-3662728
Is the feature already available? I'm lazy about Android because apps implementation with camera used to be really bad...
No one has the device yet ?
The Instagram integration into the stock camera app is part of one of the first updates pushed to all S10 phones, from what I recall. I just hope it's an optional setting and not something that greets me every time I fire up the camera app.

Google Lens icon disappeared after Q update

Hi! I just found out that after the update, Google Lens did not show up in the drawer. That said, it is still possible to open it from the default camera app. Still annoying, any thoughts? Thanks!
Nothing you can do. Same implementation is on Pixel phones.
Same issue.
I was wondering the same that why i'm not seeing Google Lens shortcut anymore!!
The ways to get the lens.
1) via Camera App
2) via Google Photos
3) via Google Assistant
4) via Google Image Search
5) via Google Chrome, tap and hold in a webpage.
Let me know, if anyone knows other way around to open Google Lens.
