Video Quality - Samsung Galaxy A71 Questions & Answers

I posted this in the A71 5G device section but no one seems to want to answer. I was looking through the video quality settings on my A71 and there doesn't seem to be a 4K 60fps option. If i'm not mistaken, the 765g is capable of 4k 60 and I know the camera hardware surely does so what's up with that?

According to this review, there is no 60fps option.
" The Galaxy A71 records videos up to 2160p resolution with the main snapper, the ultrawide, and even the selfie camera. Oddly enough, none does anything at 60fps." https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a71-review-2065p5.php

Yes I know there isn't one there I am just asking why there isn't one when the device supports it. Also that's for the 4g A71. Not the 5G. The 5G has a whole different chipset.

You are in the 4g a71 xda thread though

Yes I addressed this at the beginning of my original post because it seems like no one has the 5g variant because I've had that post up for like a month now and no one has said anything at all.

Exynos S10 8K video recording?

I was wondering if some devs started working on this since the Exynos 9820 officially supports 8K video recording. The phone is limited to 4K since it would cause inconsistencies with the Snapdragon variant. Does anybody have any news about this hack?
Unless 8k is supported by the sensor, you aren't recording in 8k. Doesn't matter what the chip supports. You can't record in 8k with a 4k camera
I remember that a simillar discussion was at the S4 forums 5 years back. It turned out that the camera was perfectly capable but the SoC lacked support.
8k is 33.2 megapixels (7680x4320). The main camera on the S10 phones is 12 megapixels. You're not getting anything close to 8k no matter what a developer tries to do.
Yup, camera does absolutely not have the resolution for that. At best, you'll oversample your 4k video to 8k, won't have more details and your video files will be a lot bigger.

The S20 lineup has HARDWARE support but the S10 lineup does not. The S20 and S20+ use the 64 MP telephoto camera to shoot 8K. The S20 Ultra uses it's 108 MP main camera to shoot 8K. The top count in the S10 lineup is 16MP. The CPU in the S10 is capable of 8K shooting but there isn't a camera with sufficient MP count on board.

thats resonable however 8k isnt something to panic about with tons of space and the giant display you gonna need i think is s10 is still a full package imo

Question Does the G998B support 5G DSDS?

Im interesting in buying the S21 Ultra here in Australia but am wondering if it supports 5G on both the physical sim and esim at the same time? Similar to what the iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 can now do.

I won't be able to answer your question in particular but I can take it step prior...Is there really a need for 5G? Unless you use your phone as the only device for 4K media consumption - YouTube @ 4K, Netflix @ 4K etc I really don't see the need for 5G. Your notifications aren't going to be any faster on 5G than on 4G FWIW.
Yes, 5G is a nice to have but not a deal breaker. Besides, if you are really into 4K video, then a 6.8 inch screen won't do any justice. You'll a screen where the decimal point is moved to the right - 68 inches!

As I always say, never judge from your own point of view, I learnt it here on XDA quite a while ago ^^.
In my case, 5G is useful so I can use the phone as hotspot for remote work. Makes a noticeable difference.
Like you otherwise, I do not consume any media content, and not sure if there would anything to notice in regard to performances.

Question Mi 11 ultra's GN2 will destroy s21 ultra'S HM3

I don't know why samsung didn't use gn2 sensor on s21 ultra , but I think xiaomi's mi 11 ultra GN2 gonna crush the s21 ultra's hm3 sensor ..
What do you guys think?
If it is true, I dont think so.

Xiaomi is essentially beta testers for Samsung's newest sensor tech. Xiaomi got the 108MP HMX and the 64MP GW1 sensor before any Samsung phones. It is a little annoying though since Samsung isn't planning on a Note 21 Ultra this year, so Xiaomi would have the better camera tech until at least the S22 Ultra presumably.

They are planning , but it's a bit delayed ,
Note lineup is something they can't skip even though they introduced spen in s series, but that's optional

Normally yes, but they likely can due to chip shortages (or at least using it as an excuse to): https://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-21-series-skipped-chip-shortages/

And if their focus is gonna be on s series only , then I think they can beat the sd888 with their exynos 2100 this time , because Exynos has that capabilities.
Sd888 was also built by samsung so their own chipset just lacks optimization I think .
My black 21Ultra will totally destroy that Mi 11 and crush it into tiny little pieces and then eat it for lunch #yeahman #f

What is wrong with you? Keep clam. I said If it is true. Although, they are pretty similar.
I think even GN1 in Vivo x50 pro plus can easily beat HM3 tbh.
Why can't Samsung just use GN series in their flagship and stop ridiculous 108mp gimmick.
Samsung know how to get the best out of its sensor, thats why you won't notice a big different between both phones.
I still wished, that samsung didn't not care for numbers and gave us the newest sensor...
As I said above, our phone is better in terms of photo. Although some of us don't believe it.

Its there in the s21 ultra's 108 mp as well.
It uses focus enhancer mode and switches to ultrawide lens zoomed to 1x to capture

Question What Gimbal and gimbal app work best with the Galaxy S21 Ultra?

Wondering if anybody in here can get full functionality out of a Gimbal and gimbal app for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Pretty much all gimbal apps work. But no 4K 60fps video with any gimbal app. You're limited to 4K 30fps.
And no tele lens...
Is this just a temporary limitation you think that just needs a fix of the gimbal apps?

Unfortunately it is a limitation posed by Samsung that doesn't allow most apps to use the full functionality of the camera.
However, there are apps like FILMIC PRO that managed to overcome the limitations posed by SAMSUNG and can record in 4K60, however they also cannot use the ZOOM lens. FILMIC PRO has a compatibility option for the DJI OSMO MOBILE and ZHIYUN SMOOTH 4 Gimbals.
I would advise you to consider 1 of the 2 so you can use them with FILMIC PRO. I made the mistake to buy a Baseus Gimbal which works fine, but the Baseus APP is limited, the gimbal controls do not work on the Samsung CAM, and FiLMIC has no compatibility option for my Gimbal.

Thank you for the information. The stabilization of the S21 Ultra is so good that I imagine with a gimbal it would be basically perfection.

It's not just Samsung, it's all Android phones that have this limitation. Only iPhones can do 4K 60fps.

Well not exactly, because I can confirm that Filmic does 4K60fps on the s21 Ultra and also on the s9+. (EXYNOS)
Same goes for open camera and mcpro24fps.
All of that without any lib changing. Some apps just managed to overcome the FPS limitation.
I recently backed the PowerVison S1 project https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/powervision-s1-world-s-smallest-smartphone-gimbal/x/18021902#/
They said the S21 Ultra is one of the cases they plan to make. Check out their demo and review videos to see how clever the case is with magnetics and wireless charging.

Question Camera recording video in PAL?

So I have an S20 Ultra.. and my friend just got an S21 Ultra. We're both in the US. His is from T-Mobile, mine is from Xfinity.
Anyway, I had some issues shooting video and importing into Adobe Premiere.. my video was all overexposed. That lead me to look at mediainfo of the video and while I see I'm recording in HDR, he's recording in AVC.. that could be the issue. I also notice his phone says "standard: PAL" and mine says "standard: NTSC".
Our frame rates are similar, though and so are all the other settings. But would that PAL be the reason I think his video is a little blurry when he turns the camera?
I'm gonna check tomorrow to see the model number of his phone.. maybe T-Mo sold him an Exynos European model or something.. which would be odd. Or maybe there's a setting for PAL for some reason.. we're both using standard recording mode not pro.
