Is there someone who could test the compatibility of the P20 Pro extensively with Android Auto? I suspect the general incompatibility (waze, Google music, in call screen,...) of the Mate 10 Pro is still not solved and till now not one review pays attention to this glaring issue. Curious if Huawei has solved this problem with this new phone.

Interesting. I'll listen here before buying, because I use Android Auto quite a bit, so if it doesn't work it's a no go for me.
Unfortunately the first feedback reports the same incompatibility as with the Mate 10 Pro.

I'm having issues connecting the phone to the head unit now with the android 8.1. It is telling me that there is a error code of communication error 6
This is diabolical, for such a basic functionality!!!
I am awaiting delivery of my P20 Pro, and was literally 5 minutes away from ordering an Android Auto headunit!
You have just saved me a lot of money... thanks!
Hopefully more people on here will be able to test.
For me, the only thing that doesn't work is Play Music. The progress bar moves but there's no sound. BBC iPlayer Radio and TuneIn Radio both work fine. No problems with Maps and phone.
It's poor at best, if you get it working leave it and don't touch anything.
Had a trip in partners Ford Focus - Sync 3 head unit, works fine with Pixel 2XL/XZ1 Compact but this just either didn't want to play anything or when attempting to read a message would give the error "voice commands not available at the moment" same when attempting to use voice commands as well. Once I did get it playing music and maps I just left it as I didn't want to break anything but still no voice commands available.
Looks like Google will be making Android Auto fully compatible with the P20 Pro. Looks like our phone is a big enough launch from Huawei to attract attention from them.

I'm using a P20 Pro. I have been using android auto in my golf now and everything seems to work fine. The only issues I am having are that I can make calls, but I can't see the phone call on the screen which means I have to use the steering wheel to hangup. When someone rings me I can't see it on my. Infotainment screen. Also can't see all of my contacts. Only my most recent. Hopefully there is a fix coming for this

Just received my P20 Pro yesterday, and just like my all previous Huawei phones (P9, P10, Mate 10 Pro) - it works with AA fine enough (only issue - call screen is not being shown).
It's barely usable...
Well it's my first Huawei phone (coming from an S8) and I'm a big fan of AA probably because of Waze...
Here are my remarks:
- Google Maps works from time to time
- Waze doesn't work at all, I have a black screen
- and for the audio it's impossible to switch between the apps and there's no audio
So unless you're using Google Maps extensively, I don't see why you'd use the P20 Pro with AA.
For those who are thinking how it was with an S8, well it was kind of a all or nothing experience. I've had periods where the phone wouldn't connect to AA and suddenly start working again.
I have also noticed that the cable quality is very important.
Android auto working fine for me. Only issue is the phone charges very slowly when connected. My one plus used to charge much quicker when connected to car head unit
Hello I've P20 and vw sportvan, no map (waze or Google maps)... I've black screen. No sound when I want to use Google music... I hope Huawei make something to solve this....
I have AA in a Pioneer headunit, working with a P20 Pro, I get audio issues with Google Play Music, waze works fine...
Got a P20 Pro and Android auto is working perfect in my Volkswagen Passat GTE. Been using it daily and everything works fine for me including Waze and Spotify

Doesnt Work
Pioneer X8800BT headunit worked flawlessly with Sony Xperia Z5 Premium so it's not the headunit.
Waze worked for a hour or so with audio then this became a black screen. Google play music "plays" but no sound comes out. In the end I had to unplug the phone from headunit (which I paid good money for) and use the unit as a dumb bluetooth speaker while using Waze directly off the phone...
I think I'll be returning it and getting a Pixel 2 XL unless someone can give me hope that there is work being done to solve this? I don't want to root it just yet because my credit card / banking apps stop working.
Shame as it's an otherwise excellent phone - but this is a deal breaker for me.
From my point of view is essential to have a quality USB cable. Everything (Waze, Google maps, call screen) works seemly with original cable delivered with charger. With another cable work call screen only, Waze and Google maps shows black screen. With cheap USB cabel my mobil phone (Huawei P20 PRO) doesnt connect to car (Hyundai i30 2018).
yesterday an AA update hit the play store. anyone tried after that?

Yes, no substantial changes...
Phone (updated to firmware 124) have problem with several NFC source. Have option for "running application is preferred", but this isn't working. For example default NFC payment is Google Pay. Another application can't pay. Phone haven't reaction if another payment application running on the top.
Same with Gluco Navi NFC - glucometer. Fully compatible with S health, on the S7 working without any problem. On P30 Pro only beep and vibrate, but data isn't transferred.
Same is very very poor compatibility with Samsung Gear S3. Yes, Huawei watch is in package - but clearly - this isn't really comparable watch (only up time is very nice).

Can't say much about NFC as I use Samsung pay but I do have the p30 pro connected with my Galaxy Watch 46mm LTE and everything that worked on my s10+ works splendid with the p30 pro. Absolutely everything.

I'm using the Redmi K20 pro Indian Variant, and the Alexa isn't working on the Amazon Prime Music app.
The app isn't able to pickup audio from the microphone, I've checked the microphone permissions and they are on, I've Uninstalled and Installed the app multiple times still doesn't work.
Google Assistant works flawlessly so there isn't any problem with the microphone. So if someone could help me out I'd be grateful.
I am also facing the exact issue.
However, the microphone is working on Alex app.
Any luck
I'm using a Mi A3 and have the same problem.
Even after a factory reset the problem reappears.
I have a problem with the microphone on realme 8 pro. It stopped working suddenly, first I thought that it was probably software related issue but nothing that I tried worked.
So I decided to replace the sub-board where the microphone is, I had another board for replacement but it's from a damaged realme 8 so I also bought a brand new one just in case. So now I have 3 sub-boards and the result is the same at each one, the microphone is not working. Also tried it with the new flex cables.
Now I only think about 2 possibilities, the first one, it's still software related issue but one that requires installing software once again instead of only factory resetting the phone. The second one it's a hardware issue but the problem is on the mainboard.
Mainboard no. E99824 I was looking for a diagram but can't find any, replacing or repairing SMD components on the board is not an issue but without diagram, troubleshooting it will take a few weeks, so maybe someone has one, or maybe someone has another idea?
One more thing, it also does not recognize the external microphone on the headphones doesn't matter if these are headphones for the jack or USB c, they can only be used to listen through it.
Update time, external microphones are working now. I tested both internal microphones using software and once again checked hardware and there is no issue there. The only possibility now is software related problem, something happened during the last update and it looks like there are no "drivers" for internal microphones. I already found a few people with the same issue at non-English forums so this is something that can happen.
Hi,
Not sure if its connected to the other common mic issue or not. In google meet specifically there is a lag during conferences as if the wifi is slow. So when I speak others can only hear it after a few seconds delay and the audio is sometimes breaking. If I switch to another phone on the same wifi its super clear and no issues. So its not the network thats causing the issue. Zoom etc works fine and its only in a few software where I have the issue. The problem is there in both bluetooth headset and using phone mic.
BTW the other phones I have are all Android 11 and below. So not sure if its an app compatibility issue with Android 12. Anyone else has any similar issues with this phone?
This was fixed with the latest android update just in case if anyone else is wondering
On version A.17 which is latest for European countries, didn't fix that.
Bad mic audio quality and very bad compatibility with majority of Bluetooth devices out there .
I am selling the phone after 15 days of purchase.
My problem apparently recurred again. Im now inclined to believe it could be some issue with my ISP and it randomly happens once in a while.
Issue still exists. Firmware is A19. I usually use Signal and Telegram and both app suffer because of it while every other phone I have tried works well in same circumstances. Using mobil net the problem disappears.
I'm on RMX3311_11_A.20 and the Problem still persists.
I can't believe that Realme is crippling a phone, just because they refuse to fix the bitrate. I've been playing around with setEdit but it doesn't change a thing.
is not really the bitrate, the problem is in mixer_paths.xml (from vendor\etc) the gains are too high and camcorder uses headset noise canceling that is too aggressive. With root it can be fixed, but they don't allow bootloader unlock...
Issue exist on realme gt 2 pro latest brand new phone. Android 13 update also didnt solve the issue. Its really disappointing
