are there any real differences between the dual sim and single sim? besides the obvious 2 sims vs 1 sim difference lol.
what about differences between the models (clt-al00, clt-l29, clt-l09, etc)? if it helps, I am in the USA and T-mobile. I am just trying to find the best one that covers most bands if not all and prefer dual sim. any advice and help is appreciated thank you in advance
Yes there is a difference.
The difference is one accepts one sim card and the other accepts two sim cards

Thank u for ur reply.. But I have already stated the obvious 2 sims and 1 SIM differences. Anything else besides that?
It might be possible that the only difference is the card slot. It might still work with 2 sim cards with the right sim card adapter for two sims. Afaik it worked for older models.

Thank u.. Do u know if there's any difference from international and global? I'm trying to buy the p20 pro and I dont wanna end up buying one that doesnt work for my service provider in USA.
I have some relevant questions/thoughts on this. I noticed that some phones are listed as having band 41 and some are not (on eBay, varying model numbers of this phone). Now that T-Mobile might be roaming on Sprint and visa versa, band 41 does actually make a difference since the OP is using the phone on T-Mobile. Does anyone know if this is just a mistake on the listings? The official Huawei site lists band 40, but not band 41.

Band 41 is listed as well at least for some models. https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/6fe84965 another good site to see the difference between the different models is http://www.phonemore.com/huawei-p20-pro/models/1817 this one includes the different models, not all though as CLT-L04 is not included, and their specs including the bands for each of the different models. Some of them even support CDMA so in theory should be compatible with Verizon or Sprint.
I have CLT-L04
and i cant find any info about it!!!
Mine has Cat 16/ Cat 18, and it came with US charger, dual Sims and Google now. Model Number CLT-L29. Bought it from sobeonline1 on eBay. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wn539su2m077hpu/Screenshot_20180516-125141.jpg?dl=0

CLT-L04 is intended for the Canadian market. L29 is not so it may not have the LTE capabilities in North America while L04 would.
I thought it wasn't for sale until today (the 17th).

Just wondering will dual Sim adapter work with single Sim phone? No software that indicates any Sim settings
Single sim doesn't get updates.
I'd like to jump in here. I just got the CLT-L04 today. I just started working for a Canadian company this week and I will be stationed in the US in Atlanta. I want dual SIM capability so that I can keep my personal phone number but not have to carry 2 devices. he SIM card tray only came with the ability to support a singel SIM card. Can I just order a dual SIM card carrier? is there anything special I need to know or do on the phone to support dual SIM's?

My single SIM CLT-L04 already got an update once. C792. Not carrier branded.

You need to convert your phone to dual SIM variant using paid software (which may require a bootloader unlock code that Huawei no longer provides) and then use a dual SIM tray.
I did the above and my single SIM phone is now a fully functioning dual SIM phone. There's really no difference between the two variants other than software and that tray. The tray alone will not work.
Any one know Where can do Note 8 N950F single SIM convert to Dual SIM in London area !

I don't think you can't change a single SIM device to dual SIM as each SIM needs a separate IMEI number to operate. However, maybe you can as there are dual SIM adaptors available ... have search on Google!

You can't do that without a second IMEI, which the dual sim models have but the single sim models don't. Copying IMEIs are illegal in most places and not allowed on XDA. Suggest you sell your model and buy a dual sim one.
This post I just want anyone live England London know any mobile shop can do.
(In England Note 8 is N950F Exynos CPU, so can single SIM convert to Dual SIM)
I don't have Z3X tool box to write IMEI , so I want someone advance me where can do that.

We do not mention imei writing and such
That is not a good idea as your device is only equipped with a single SIM slot and a microSD Card slot. Even if you manage to install another imei number onto your device. It may not work.

Can be done only if your device is still binary 1. For more info on this topic suggest you try http://forum.gsmhosting.com/. You won't find any imei modding here.
From what I have read (for education purposes) - converting n950f to dual sim - the legal method is to use the same imei.
To duplicate imei for both sims require first diag the cert file from the phone using z3x won't work with binary 3 or 4. phone must be knox 0.
To write cert file require another paid software - gcpro - z3x does not support writing cert yet.
unless your phone is knox 0 and binary 1 there is no point in looking into this, but maybe in the future.

Copying IMEIs is still illegal, whether for "education purposes" or not. That's why it's not permitted on xda as the mod pointed out earlier.
I just unlocked my bootloader and am wondering what the next step I should take in my quest for P20 Pro nirvana. But when I was researching this, I found reference to the possibility of converting my L09 model from single sim to dual sim (on funkyhauwei site). This is a paid service (like all Huawei development by the looks of it) and I'm wondering if this really works. A dual sim model would be really handy for a data only sim.

Sorry, my bad.
Anyway, is there a cheaper option than the FunkyHuawei one? More importantly, is it worth it?
Hi. Creating this thread to capture who is selling the dual SIM variant in the UK. The p20 pro and Mate 20 pro from memory dual SIM was only available from Three Mobile. (Maybe one other) but the majority of resellers were all single SIM.
I noticed the Samsung S10+ was dual SIM so maybe there is a chance in stance from carrier.
I'll add info here once I get it
EE
Just an FYI on this. I called EE to pre-order this phone yesterday and was advised by the sales person that it is indeed dual SIM. Obviously this doesn't mean that it is enabled from them. I will report back when it arrives.
The sales advisor did say that it would be SIM locked upon delivery and reminded me that - when on contract - the phone remains the property of EE for the first 6 months of the contract.
So Amazon UK has it for pre-order with delivery by April 6... was able to place an order here in the USA... Funny enough, Amazon France has it as well but won't... I'll see if they scrap my pre-order but in my recent experience with the Xiaomi Mi 9, if the order is in, it charges ok and then its golden... fingers cross. Should get it before April 9th!!!! Its dual sim... so I'm sure it is the dual sim version as well available to carriers

Thanks. I'm hoping EE is dual SIM as I have an upgrade available. They also told me over the phone it is dual SIM. It will be locked. However you can pay a tenner and get it unlocked via eBay. I've done that many times without issue. Happy to share who I used it it's of interest.
Thanks for the offer.
I've got 2x EE Sims in the family so I can test the dual-sim functionality before trying to unlock it, but will certainly take you up on that if it works.
EE and Three will be selling the dual SIM model in the UK.

Is there a source for this?
As I said above, I've been advised by EE that the phone I'm being sent is dual sim (but sim locked) however it would still be possible for them to disable this functionality through the software.

I was told on the Huawei press trip that it was just Three doing the dual SIM model in the UK, but subsequently discovered EE was selling it too. I hadn't considered that it could be software locked, so that is a possibility. I do recall that there are ways to unlock the restriction, but don't know the exact process.
If EE is doing this, I'd assume every network is doing it the same way and perhaps all the devices are the same. But they should be stating they are single SIM clearly, even if technically they aren't.
Well, I was speaking to a sales person who said it was dual sim, so that's why I'm reserving judgement. I need dual sim because I have a work phone and can't be bothered carrying 2 mobiles around with me.
Ultimately they phone is dual sim, it's just whether the functionality is enabled - which I'm waiting to find out Mine arrives a week today so will obviously post up and let people know the results.
I've also heard from EE on twitter it will be dual SIM.
Three phones come unlocked. My P20 Pro was dual SIM and unlocked direct from Three last year as well.

Happy days glad EE devices are easier to unlock now.
Can confirm that EE devices are dual sim in the UK if acquired direct from EE
Not unlocked it yet, but have all the dual sim settings and it worked with 2x different EE sims concurrently on my device
EDIT: If anyone can point out a working unlock provider that would be helpful please
Anyone tried Vodafone?

Not good news at all. I ordered mine from Amazon as well. It does say that is the single sim version right on the Amazon website. My order says different. Fingers crossed that I get the right one.
My Amazon UK was meant to be dual sim. Its not, single sim arrived. Waiting to hear back from Amazon as to what they might be able to do. A mess sadly.

2 VOG-L09's delivered not looking good for me.
I've had my CLT-L09 deflowered, sorry, bootloader unlocked for several months now but I've never really had the inclination to root it or anything else. That was until I spent the last 5 days and nights in the wilds of County Donegal, in the north west of Ireland, with no wifi and rapidly depleting roaming data. I got back home this evening and after a quick look at funkyhuawei and seeing they're doing 8 credits for US $28 at the minute, enough to buy me a dual sim conversion, I've decided this is the way to go. But I'm not an idiot. I know it isn't going to be as quick and easy as they make it out to be. And I know it will also relock my bootloader and make it impossible to unlock again. At least for the time being. But I'm happy enough with it on stock so that doesn't concern me too much.
So what I want to know is, how easy is it really to do, and how high are the risks of bricking the phone?

Their processes aren't too difficult or so I'm told and they have good support, but it's personally leave the door open for bootloader unlocking..
Did they tell you that this is definite? That your bootloader will relock?

I don't recommend it...
from L09 missing second sim to my knowledge...
L29(dual sim model) convertible to singe sim in theory
I ordered a genuine twilight twin sim tray from ebay, some use a dremel to trim the existing tray down to dual sim compatible. And converting an L09 to an L29 is a thing. Checkout FunkyHuawei club's site.
OK, so yes, the bootloader will lock and not be able to reunlocked ever as the imei will change
The debranding requires you to be on Oreo which if you don't pay attention, in itself, can lead you with a temporarily bricked phone and a headache. Hasn't happened to many but a few have managed it when downgrading to a suitable version
Their support is USELESS and not knowledgeable at all on even their own utilities or their effectiveness.
And finally as already pointed out, the sim tray is an issue aswell
Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
You have to downgrade to Oreo, you can use HiSuite to do that. Also you can order a dual-sim tray from Amazon, Ebay, Ali. I am planning to convert my C782 to C432-L29 (Dual-Sim). Two SIM cards, more updates than this UK crappy version. The process isn't hard from what I read on Funky's website. You just need to pay attention. I guess you will run 2 SIMs with one IMEI. Here are users who reported, after converting, that both are working perfectly fine, 4G+ connection. Give it a try if you have the bootloader unlock code, I am waiting for it to be available again. The worse part is that we have to pay for something which was free until Huawei decided to close it. So for a 16 characters code last time available was over 100 dollars.

HiSuite shows the only firmware version as being Android 9. My phone's current fw is CLT-L09 C782E3R1P9. Can anyone tell me which version of 8 I need to get to downgrade this?
FunkyHuawei were (kind of) assisting me with the multitude of problems which reared their ugly heads once I started doing this. But as soon as I hit the "Problem. Quitting" error in FHP20SingleToDual app, they went into silent running mode. Its only through extensive googling and searching here that I learned about the Emui 9/Pie issue with the app and the need to downgrade. I'm sure this is all plain sailing if you have exactly the right fw verion on exactly the right handset. Otherwise its just a blimming headache.
Oh, and I already got the genuine dual sim tray from ebay.
Thanks for your advice on this.
I will post a screenshot here what HiSuite is showing me, a bit later.
All I need is a bootloader unlock code, hopefully I will get it anytime soon
