I tried to update my SM-N9600 that was stuck on android 8.1, it wont show any update so i tried to install this firmware https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/SM-N9600/ANC/download/N9600ZHS5ETI1/396464/ and followed the odin instrucions.
It turns out it failed at the end and i got a blue screen with the message "an error has occurred while updating the device software use the emergency recovery function" which i don't have so i kinda panic and used this frphijacker software which sent me to where i am now, stuck at boot screen and the phone will won't even turn off, wont connect to the computer with usb cable either.. i hope when the battery drain i could turn it on recovery mode but i'm uncertain..
Would really appreciate any info or any help
just wanted to say to any admin that they can close or remove this thread. After the battery died i could turn on the phone in download mode and after a couple tries with different firmwares i finally managed to solve the issue.. kinda of a pain in the ass and scary af since i'm like user level so.. thanks anyway!

Hi, I know the questions have been asked many times, but I did not see any good answers.
I have an I9000M an d I tried upgrading to froyo 2.2. I first tried with Kies, but it wouldn't. It would see my phone, I could add music, add/save contact, but when I upgraded it would just disconnect.
I turned to Odin's method. I had the seemingly frequent problem of it being stuck at "File Analysis" It had been there for an hour or so... So I got it was not working. I then had the bad idea of unplugging it, and now I'm stuck at the screen on boot with a [phone]---[exclamation mark]---[pc].
I can't get into either recovery or download mode anymore (tried with 3 buttons, but wasnt able anyways before, and ADB don't see my device (nor does Odin or Kies).
I tried removing the battery for about a minute and rebooting/replugging, etc. Nothing works.
What can I do more...?
Thanks

Without download mode (VOL Down, Home, Pwr) then your only options is to either send it in for repair or try to get download mode working with a homemade Jig.
More on that Here.
I heard story's of people of forcing it to go into download mode using heat as well from say a hair dryer. But I do not recommend that.

Also I'm just curious as how you used odin without even having download mode? I'm having my doubts that when you said I know this question has been asked many times but you have not found a good answer is true. Next time do a bit more reading before just flashing your device. If you have even 1 thing your not sure about when flashing your phone that's 1 to many.
Puzzled also .
First question has to be can you actually get the phone into download mode .
Thats the big yellow download sign .
That has to be your first step get download mode on your phone .
Odin does not work without download mode so if no download mode who knows what you where trying to achieve or did achieve .
jje
No, I could get it in download mode BEFORE attempting to flash. Then I started Odin.
Now, I'm stuck with the image on boot screen and I can't do a thing. Phone is not recognized anymore on my PC so ADB/KIES/Odin won't see it.

Remove Kies and reinstall that will make sure the drivers are OK .
Get into download mode if 3 buttons fail then you need the jig as posted.
Could try removing battery go to three button download mode and as you are holding down the buttons stick the battery back in to see if it enters download mode .

Thanks guys for all the tips...! But nothing seems to work. It's just stuck at the connect error icon (?) and when I try to go in download mode either way, it just loops. (Icon appears and dissappears)
Two more questions:
1) If i have to get it repaired, do I contact Samsung or my provider ? (Bell in this case)
2) I'm at ease with electronics and stuff, so the jig should't be too hard to do for me, but is it guaranteed to work ? I mean, is it software-independant. Is there a problem that I can have that would prevent it to work ?
Thanks again!
Will work. Had the same issue as yours were I could not get into download mode and the phone would not boot either. The jig saved my phone. You can make your own or you can buy it on ebay. Good luck.
Good, should have all that at my job. Will try it.
Finally, it turns out that I called Bell and they told me that this was a common problem with these devices and they are sending me a new one!
Well.. whatever it was! haha
Thanks again for the help though!
Ok I did something stupid with my Galaxy S. I didn't pay attention to the firmware I was downloading i did a search for orange branded i9000 Firmware, and was downloaded from a site. Legit firmware and all. So I went to flash with odin like I have done lots of times. Came up fail, so I figured something happened during transfer, so restarted it back into download mode and reflashed again. FAIL again. Restarted and it would not turn back on. The unfortunate to all this is, the firmware after looking in horror at my galaxy s and looking back at the screen said I9100 above and I did not see that at all.
Sooo even with a USB jig this will not show a download menu, no recovery mode, no screen when plugged into charger. Anyone have any tips before I attempt the unbrickable mod?
post you question on darky rom forum they might b able to help
If even the Jig does not work i would try the unbricablemod. I dont't know an other solution to revive your phone than the UnbrickableMod if your phone doesn't boot into the Downloadmode with a Jig. So you have nothing to loose just try this Mod.(it could be your last hope to rescue the phone without sending the phone to Samsung) I didn't try it yet because i ever could revive my phone with the Jig but I've read some reports in a german forum and the users there are reporting that the Mod does rescue the phone even if the Jig doesn't boot your phone in Downloadmode.
You can find the unbricablemod i'm talking about here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310 It's called "one click-unbrick". Just follow the given instructions and your phone schould work as before
Is your phone really bricked?
Is your phone bricked, or is it stuck at boot???
Normally, if a phone gets bricked, you see the screen of death: a phone logo and a computer logo, with an exclamation mark in between the two...
By the description, it looks like your phone is not able to boot, and is stuck at the screen, where it says: i9000
try putting it in downloading mode, and use odin to go back to stock firmware....
If you can't even turn on your phone, maybe your battery is flat after all that flashing

^^^ That may be the case, try to get another battery or chargning this batter outside the phone (wire to to a 5v source).
Sidenote: I think that download mode draws power from the usb (the phone will stay on even if the battery is removed [at-least mine does])
If the jig does not work then you probably flashed the bootloader or something...which is bad, in that case, unbrickable mod may be your only hope.
I revived it with just the software version of the unbrickable tool. Only have like 2 seconds to do it in linux when you connect the phone, but it put it into a white screen and I flashed with heimdall and I am back up and running. Thank you all!
so you flashed a stable ?
Yep I posted stable. It's weird because if your device shows up in windows some weird device you only have have a couple seconds in linux to make it flip into download, but its doable and I didn't have to hardware mod anything. Back to a perfectly working Galaxy S
Good for you !
You did it well, nice one! ;-)
I was to about to ask you to check your battery but glad you fixed it
I've got this problem
Phone got battery removed while shutting down
After that moment powering it up result in samsung logo a second of black screen and again samsung logo stuck there forever
Trying to enter recovery make the same result
Download mode is avabile, I tryed to flash another kernel with recovery but made no result, and at the moment it is no longer detected by odin
What can I do ? Odin no longer working is a computer problem or is it possible that phone enter download mode but no longer accept connection?
I've read many many guides about bootloops and device not recognized by odin but at this point I am not able to find anything useful for my situation
ROM installed is cyanogen 9
Sorry it was to be posted on troubleshooting forum
I forgot to say if I plug it to pc or power adapter when power is off display turns on and show "wait" icon (bars that forms a circle) and freeze at that point and don't show battery level
Nevermind, i was able to solve phone not recognized by odin using another pc with windows XP and then flashing semaphore kernel solved the bootstuck situation .... still don't understand why yesterday on windows 8 it was working with odin and today no but pheraps it's better not investigate

you need this to get your phone recognized by window 8 http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Samsung/SAMSUNG-Android-ADB-Interface-Driver-29503726-for-Vista-Windows-7-Windows-8.shtml
Hi Guys this is my first time posting here and hoping to find a solution to what I'm experiencing right now.
This is actually the second time and what happened is that my phone got into a BOOTLOOP so of course, Ideally the first thing I did was to forced it to shutdown using the Volume down + Power button combination and so I did, the phone turned off, But after that, When I tried to turned it on again, it won't turn itself on. I even tried to hold various button combinations but to no avail, nothing worked. Aside from that, I have tried to plug in the charger periodically after 20 - 30 seconds with the same interval before plugging it out and repeated the cycle for 20 tries but same result, it didn't worked as well..
So I'm here hoping that someone will be able to help me out as I don't know what to do anymore and I badly need to use my phone for my studies as well.. :crying::crying:
Hello @johnmark21t, I will do my best to help you to figure out what's going wrong with your Note8
Have you tried to boot into download mode (volume down + Bixby + power button) ? Does it work or not ?
If you can't boot your device into Recovery Mode then the motherboard is fried. You are better off getting a new device rather than replacing the motherboard

That's what I'm also thinking about but I cannot comprehend as to why it became like this as my phone was just on standby mode and then just turned off by itself and by the time that it restarted, it was stucked on the Samsung logo in which after I saw that it was like that, I have forced restarted it so I think that's my last conclusion but I don't think that that is the case for me...
What rom and what kernel you have what modes?. What twrp you have? You have flash wrong rom? Wrong kernel? Is impossible for the phone to turn in boot loop mode itself. You did something wrong before the bootloop. Try volume up and Bixby and power button for 30 secs. Or volume down and Bixby and power button for 30 secs. Motherboard failure no give you boot loop. Give you blue screen. Try to flah with Odin is the easy way.

Unfortunately I'm only at stock, not even rooted and I don't have custom recovery mode installed.. all in stock. Even the Odin mode is inaccessible as well.. and again I didn't do anything prior before this happened..
Try connecting your device to a computer with Smartswitch installed and run the emergency recovery process. If that doesn't work then I would recommend that you take your device to a Samsung Service Center and let them take a look at it.
However you should be able to repair your issues using Smartswitch.

Download and install Smartswitch onto your computer. Then connect your device to your computer and launch Smartswitch. If your device is detected by Smartswitch then launch the Emergency Recovery Process.
I'd like to dig this topic out.
I'm also experiencing bootloop after latest OTA update. I've taken device to Samsung Service and they told me that it's faulty motherboard and they want to charge me 1300pln which is about 335$ so I'm like - Hell no, it's not worth it.
Anyway, I'm kind of sceptical about whole fried motherboard story, since recovery mode is working correctly, download mode is showing up as well. I tried to flash same firmware as it has now. It passed but result is the same.
Gonna download some older SW version and try again but maybe any other suggestions from you guys?
UPDATE: Older SW version downloaded and result is still the same. So yeah, screw it

Try flashing firmware that's at least one update above the version you have on the phone and after you flash it in Odin and it finishes with a "PASS" then go into recovery mode and do a factory reset in fact try doing a factory reset right now just to see if it'll work since you have nothing to lose at this point.

Any update on your phone?
I hope there's a class-action lawsuit about this. My Note8 had the same problem. An OTA update was done, and the phone shut off, never to turn on again. No combination of buttons powered the phone on at all.
Hi everyone, I was using this forum for a long time but this is the first post I've ever written.
Let me explain my problem:
I was rooting my SM-M215F/DSN and Odin gone mad for some reason and bricked the phone. Now phone is on a loop with screen sayin "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function." Usually I can fix this kind of situations but this time I cannot fix this and hope someone can help me with it. This was not my first ROOT but for this phone it was.
These are the things I've already tried:
1) Tried to reboot phone to download mode. After pressing Volume (-) & Power it don't let me do anything and goes back to that warning screen directly.
2) Drained all battery power to kill phone, but when I connect it to grid it goes back to that screen again.
3) Used emergency recovery with Smart Switch but get an error "SM-M215F does not support initializing"
4) Odin cannot connect to phone in this mode so it cannot turn back to stock firmware
5) Someone has told in this forum that it's another kind of download mode and use Heimdall. I've tried it and it detects the device but while downloading .pit file it gives "ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: -12". I am a little bit n00b on Heimdall so I gave up.
So if anyone can help I will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
After a real struggle I've found my own solution so need to share with community.
Tenoshare ReiBoot for Android free version let me exit from download mode.
Hope this helps.
