Who is your provider? Are you using SIM or eSIM? Are you rooted? Did you disable all the Magisk modules before the update? If you forgot that step, have you since disabled all Magisk modules and started over?
While you may be out of commission on the phone side (although, Google Voice would be a good band-aid), you may not be out of commission on the SMS side. Google's text app, Messaging, recently went live with RCS messaging and it can send texts via WiFi.
Incidentally, if it's Google Fi that's giving you fits, the same thing happens to me every time I do a clean install. Fi refuses to connect until I've rebooted two or three times and then the final confirmation comes several hours later.
im in malaysia bought secondhand 1 year ago on grey market , check my sim with another phone , working well on that phone. had been running my phone on regular stock since bought.

Okay, you answered almost none of my questions but it's irrelevant at this point because it sounds like the phone was stolen. If the IMEI is reported as stolen, it's flagged in a database and alerted carriers will shut off the service.
If that's the case, at this point, I'd be more concerned about the police knocking on my door than lack of mobile service. I'd send you over to IMEI.info to verify but I'm guessing I haven't told you anything you didn't already know.
imei number legit not reported or blacklisted, but yeah i think this phone is doomed unless there some magic update resolved this

Why don't you try to reset using the last official 10 firmware (to reset all partitions), then activate through setup, then flash and test a custom rom. This is of course only possible if it's an unlocked bootloader (which you didn't mention) but that's where I'd start especially if it worked before the update. You say is legit and sounds like it worked BEFORE the last update so roll back and then use a custom rom.

Unfortunately it's my best guess because I can't reproduce it myself but if it worked prior to the firmware upgrade, it should work by reverting the firmware to the previous firmware in my opinion. I'd take it the step furtherand go with a custom 10 ROM to remove Google firmware updates messing with it in the future (assuming we get it working again).
Interestingly enough, I searched other forums and found other users reporting the same issue. Again, assuming it worked on the previous firmware, I would roll bak to it. Ideally, I would rollback to 10 because I know 10 works (not sure how well it works for you in your local and provider), but thats where I would start. Backup everything you need, then use the last 10 firmware to -w the device and activate then start over.

Hi, folks...
After a long time, I have a problem with my Note...
Many, many weeks ago I rooted and unlocked my Note, and all was going well... It is just in the recent day, or two that I noticed that suddenly I don't have access to SMS service, calls, or Internet... I thought it was provider's fault, but after inserting other network's SIM card I got the same problem...
I think I might have re-locked itself somehow... I tried again using Galaxy S unlock method, but it changes nothing... is it possible that the phone unrooted itself, or that some update (no ICS, I am not touching that yet! ) messed up something?
Awaiting for your helpful response...

Unlocked means? Unlocked from what? Service provider?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium App
I don't think it may have auto locked.
You are on GB ROM then try
-Factory reset
still dont work, then
-Reflash ROM
This shud work, if still doesn't work then reason to believe it has been locked.
Is your IMEI still showing correctly?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Locked, as in SIM locked.
Will try factory reset in the evening (London) and see what happens...
What do you mean if my IMEI is still showing correctly? How should I know what is wrongly showing of IMEI?
He mean you can see IMEI as digit or just written 'unknown'

yeah, full number is there, no anomalies of any kind in that regard....

I am having the same problem or at least similar. The phone was running fine on both paranoid android and chracks rom. I flashed Crash v7 yesterday, still fine. I decided to go back to Chrack since there was an update. When I did that, safely, the first pop-up I got was "enter network unlock code key" message. I tried the galaxy_s unlock, didn't work. The only backup that I had left was the Crashv7 so I restored that. I got the same message now but galaxy_s unlock DOES work on it. Though, I never had to use it before. I have been at this trying to figure it out for over 8 hours. I believe it has something to do with the new roms and the CSC regions. I have been searching the forums all night and now today I see more people experiencing problems.
I would like to ask a few question here,
Why do we need to change the CSC regions? Other than Kies updating, what difference does it make? I have not found the answer anywhere. I am in the US and have never had to deal with this b.s. before. Web searches I have seen seem to all refer these to Samsung phones. Are they the only company that does this?
My N7000 is from Sweden, NEE(XEE) csc. The rom that is working for me now has a csc of: EUR. I was under the impression that with custom roms it didn't matter what the csc but now I am starting to doubt that.
Any true help out there? Anyone in the states or anywhere else suffering from the same problem? I just think it strange that the phone would re-lock itself but only stay locked on newer roms(any after July 25th) and the unlock app only works on the older roms.
Sorry for this long post.
Edit: When the sim unlock app doesn't work, imei says "unknown"
Edit 2: Looking at other threads it looks like this isn't isolated. I guess there is a problem with the new lrk or whatever it is. It's re-locking units and galaxy_s unlock isn't working.
Yeah, I would also say that some time around middle of this week, this issue became apparent to me... I really didn't use the Note much for the last two weeks, so when I wanted to send an SMS, I thought it was the network playing up (2, or 3 times a year it has problems with service, which is ok with me, since they give a great deal for £10, and I don't need a non-stop connectivity...
I am knackered after today's ride, so I will try and deal with the issue tomorrow...
Oh... I did factory restore and rooting and flashing and the whole procedure of installing busybox and galaxy s unlock app and doing everything I remember doing the first time I unlocked my Note, but unfortunately it keeps saying "Network not available."
Has anybody got any idea why some Note re-SIMlock themselves, even though this method of SIM unlock is supposed to be permanent...
What should I do now? Install other stokk GB firmware, or risk it with some custom ROMs?
I am so sad...

I have found that any custom rom built on the LRI/LRK radios do not work for us users with sim-relock. Best to stay on older roms that aren't built from those sources. Sucks, I know. :crying:

AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW.....
A week and a bit back I had this sim lock problem with the Note, tried stuff in this thread, nothing worked, just fo find it today, when I picked it up to go and try flashing God knows what I'd pick, and turn it on, and IT IS UNLOCKED!!!
I was like a small pig when you give it some corn...
Phew, that is a stone off my heart...
But, how? Is it possible that maybe some Kies update, or some other app update brought about the re-locking of the NOTE?
Still, what made it work now, after so much time and failures?
It was working fine on android 8 since it came out (4-5 months?)
There was an annoying notification since the past 2- 3 weeks for a software update, so I decided to finally do it.
No changes after doing that update, I received an another update notification of around 150 mb. ( not really sure but def. under 300mb)
After that, my mobile network service suddenly went out, mobile data is disabled and grayed out, same when I try to click on Mobile connections.
On the lock screen, it says "service disabled" and *#06# says imei null.
What happened? I know this definitely happened after the update, and my phone was bought brand new, how can i fix this?
Also, I'm located in India and use a Vodafone sim card, I tried putting other carrier sim and it's still giving the same error which worked perfectly before the update
Any help would be appreciated
I'm guessing I might have to do a factory restore, but I would like to have that as the last option

my device also shows that message "not eligible bla..bla.." I think you have to downgrade to 20d firmware. But as you can see my phone is running latest update and cellular is working fine since I believe once this phone is unlocked permanently, it will remains unlocked.

Hi everyone.
Below is the link for last update for Note ATT.
{https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1899786940962593461}
I've trying to update the ATT note 9 , but is very difficult to found the update.
Finally I found this link for TMobile, and is working 100% actually on my ATT phone.
All the applications are working ok, and the ATT apps are woking too.
On my first try I forgot use the USER DATA using ODIN and phone stuck on updating logo.
Then I've reinstalled using, AP,BL, CSC, CP, AND USER DATA, and all works OK.
Please remember
"Backup all your data previously with Samsung SMART SWITCH"
""""FLASH IT UNDER YOUR RISK"""
On my phone is working perfectly.
I was just about to do this myself. Figured it'd be ok. Still running right? And is there a change in Service Provider SW version or does it self-correct based on SIM?

My phone was updated using the rom provided in the link.
All is working OK at this moment , without any problem.
All the options and applications still working without issues
Nothing in Service provider was changed , still sending ATT logo during normal restart or reboot.
Also still unlocked like before update.

Can confirm its working flawlessly for me as well.
On further use background data is trash, and sound work that great over the built in speakers. Trying to find the causes. Radio issue isn't that surprising, audio is.
Just got OTA on Att U2CSI3. Pretty sure its October security patch.

Guess I should give up searching for more info then.
Hey guys,
I searched on google but was not able to find a solution for my issue due to software updates..
For like a week i do have the notification for the software-update to be ready to install (October security patch) and finally yesterday i had time to let the installation do its thing.
All of sudden after the update i can enter my SIM pin and that's it. No network, no cellular NOTHING.
What i did:
- Factory reset
- Data wipe via recovery
- Flashed current DBT firmware manually via ODIN
- Flashed previous DBT firmware
I am out of ideas.. Seems like a hardware problem, right? The lower part inside of the phone - is that the part for network? Should i try to replace it?
I replaced my screen 2 months ago, therefore i am out of warranty i guess, right?
Thanks in advance for any advise or help.

To decide if you still have warranty or not, you need to visit the sales/service centre. To ascertain your issue, you need to give a little more background on your last activities. Did you change your CSC anytime? When the problem first occurred, were you totally stock? Is your device carrier locked? Lots of questions..
Look if able to see IMEI in device settings - about phone
If IMEI is there and still you are unable to connetc to network, you should ask your operator if your IMEI got banned.

Hey Doc, thanks for responding!
Well, both of my IMEIs are there. I use dualsim and both of my cards accept the PIN and also shows the IMEI but on both of them no signal. This first happened after replacing the screen. I forgot 1 or 2 screws and then i had no signal. After screwing correctly, i again was able to connect to the network.
And now all of sudden immediately after updating OTA both of my sims stopped working. But well, i have seen some youtube videos saying, that it can be the GSM cable on the side of the phone. I am not sure if i replaced my old cable with the one in the new screen or if i used the old one. I will check later when i am at home.
My only guess is: GSM cable is dead, motherboard died or flex cable is damaged..
// Edit:
I removed the GSM Antenna from my old display and replaced it with my new screen. For a second i had 4G and it died again.. i took out everything at least 5 times and finally i cleaned everything with Isopropyl-alcohol and let it dry and voila my phone has signal again. No clue if some miracle happened but i am happy again.
Thread can be closed or marked as resolved
Like the title say yesterday I received the OTA update on my S21Ultra.
All went fine, battery life to early to tell. The only bug so far was that 1 Sim card would not work anymore while the other Sim was fine.
Swapped the Sim positions and the problem followed the Sim card letting me think I had a problem with my provider.
Later that day I put the "faulty" Sim in my note 10+ and it worked right away. Rebooting the phone did not helped either.
Wat solved my problem was just switching off and on the Sim in Sim manager...
So maybe if someone has the same problem after the update, try this...
Since 2 days I got the update and after that I have many problems with apps even Galaxy store. They crash after opening. I did Wipe cash und repair app but nothing changes. What now? Please help

Clean install your firmware. Best way is an ODIN flash (with CSC selected for full wipe)
Second choice is a factory reset.
