Anyone in NZ got VoLTE working? - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

Tried this guide:
Activate Volte on Pixel 4XL - Android 11 R
Hi Guys Finally i was able to activate volte on my carrier (STC-KSA) by the help of @somin.n module You need to have unlocked bootloader and Magisk Canary installed 1. Flash the attached module via Magisk and reboot 2. Check and activate...
forum.xda-developers.com
with the AUNZ mbn.
I now have the option in the settings and all the sliders in *#*#4636#*#* are turned on but it still says IMS not registered.
I'm on Vodafone NZ.
Vodafone NZ does have VoLTE rolled out throughout the country.
Also just updated my sim card today. The guy at the vodafone store showed me on his samsung phone that he had VoLTE working on his phone.
Funny story:
I tried calling Vodafone support.
The tech support guy doesn't even know what VoLTE/4G Calling is and tells me to turn off data, restart phone and turn on data. (sigh). I told the guy that IMS is not registered and I can literally hear him type on his keyboard "IMS not registered" and reads to me the first google search he finds. "It means your sim card is not inserted properly", he says. Knowing that this is a waste of time, I just said "Ok thank you" and hung up.
Anyone who has been lurking around on XDA for a while would do a better job than their so-called "Tech Ninja".

[Q] ATIV S Neo (SPH-i800) Sprint SIM Unlock

Hey guys,
I am in Spain. I asked Sprint to SIM unlock my phone before I left and they said it worked but it did not. I bought a movistar SIM and all I get is 'no service.' Under Cellular+SIM options, it is in CDMA only mode and the option to change it is greyed out. I was in 8.1 so I flashed to 8.0.10328.78 and called Sprint. They want me to update my network profile to send the command to unlock it but it isn't working over WiFi.
The phone knows that the SIM is there, I can access the SIM applications, read the SIM ID and when I turn on the phone with it inserted it says 'switched to CDMA only.' So I think it is still SIM locked. Is there a way I can unlock it? I've never had to deal with this before.
No ideas? I need to know whether I should give up and try to return the plan I bought.

Can Sprint version Ativ S neo unlock ?
Agreed
Just adding to the overall knowledge base here.
I am experiencing the exact same problem.
1. I purchased my phone unlocked (though it was previously on Sprint). I have previously been able to use foreign SIM cards (in France), without issue.
2. At some point, I installed the Developer's Preview of WP8.1 and lost the ability to roam domestically or internationally.
3. I am now in Israel, and tried an Israeli SIM card, but it was on a GSM network. It connected to the network, but showed up as international roaming. Ooops, guess I need to fix that little WP8.1 Beta issue...
4. I decided to flash my phone back to WP8 GDR3, which seems to have un-unlocked my phone. Now when I plug my Israeli SIM card in, my phone automatically switches to CDMA mode.
5. However, if I pop a Sprint SIM card in, I have the ability to switch to Global Mode again.
I have the MSL, but I cannot figure out where I would enter it to get this to stop happening.
FYI.
I had a problem , I live in Ukraine , my phone was unlocked , but when I installed 8.0 my phone worked only in CDMA mode with a Sim card from my service , I updated to 8.1 again using the preview for developers and settings again appeared global regime.

Wifi calling on unlocked Note 8

Hey guys, i created this topic as i didn't find one dedicated.
I have an issue with Wifi calling.
I bought a Note 8 from Samsung, so it is unlocked. On my notification screen i have a wifi calling button which is blue (so activated!?) but at the same time grayed out (i cannot interact with it). If i go to Phone app and Settings i do not have any Wifi calling option nor in the system apps as a service. So basically i dont have the wifi calling function and i really need it. My operator is Vodafone Romania and from what intel i gathered googling i called them and ask them to activate it (maybe push something to my phone, like a sms) but they said its got nothing to do with them. They said what i want is a setting in my phone and they only provide services.. so they cant help.
Can anyone advise me for this issue?? Many thanks

I'm no expert at this but I think the solution is to flash the specific SM-950F stock ROM for your operator (you'll need to use ODIN for that) because it will have the localized CSC customization that you are looking for
Settings>Advanced Calling > Wifi calling enabled is an option on my phone
mozell_rowell your phone is unlocked? I do not have this option on my unlocked phone.
I have discovered that the unlocked XEU firmware allows Wifi calling on EE(UK) but doesn't allow VoLTE, for that I needed EE's EVR firmware.
I had set up a new contract for my phone so Wifi calling didn't work for the first few days, causing a bit of confusion.
Anyway, you may be facing similar issues.

I'm on Vodafone UK and bought direct from Samsung and now have wifi calling
There was a threads on UK Vodafone forums about this problem it was not working even for phones direct from Vodafone
The solution is to call tech support at Vodafone and ask them to send the configuration to "update the provisioning" on your handset ... this is not same as mms or web configuration .
Good luck

The setting is hard to find. Go to settings>apps>system apps>WiFi calling and enable it there. If you have Verizon, it will NOT WORK. I learned this the hard way, and had to return my unlocked phone. Supposedly, wifi calling will work with most other services.

I did...unfortunately Vodafone in my country hires only idiots. They say its not up to them...that wifi calling is a feature of the phone not something they can activate. Enough said

I tried that also. Been reading everything i can find on the web about it. Tried many things, unfortunately there is only one place where i have wifi calling (in my notification bar near other buttons but...i cannot interact with the button).
My disappointment is even higher now... I've called Samsung (in my country) asking them if its possible to flash my phone with a Vodafone branded ROM (i know i can do it myself but wanted to see what Samsung has to say in this matter). And...lol...they said they do not flash roms on request...lol. I think not many people know about wifi calling in my country. It looks its up to me to solve the issue but... naturally I'm nervous about it because i dont want to lose my guaranty.
From what i learned its only a matter of flashing a CSC from a branded ROM. Unfortunately i haven't flashed anything for 4 years now.... i am scared...and not afraid to admit it I did pay for this phone a lot of money

I am in the same boat as you, I live in NYC got an unlock phone thinking i'll get by with the HOTSPOT. But it doesn't work and I have no WIFI calling and no CAlling PLUS (sprint)
and would like to flash it to the stock ROM, so I don't have to go trough the procedure of returning this phone and getting a Carrier version.
Let me know how you make out. I can't find anything on youtube about this
I got probably a solution for some. You can install shorcut master (lite) from Play Store. Go to apps explorer and search for IMS settings scroll down to last one imssettingslauncheractivity and launc it; then you have to switch all those toggles to on under ims service switch. Restart phone...and for some now all those services will work including volte and wifi calling.

I agree fully with @pigglett post above. (last Paragraph.) ......
................
" The solution is to call tech support at Vodafone and ask them to send the configuration to "update the provisioning" on your handset ... this is not same as mms or web configuration ."
....................
I noted that you already did this.(speak to service provider)
Wifi calling,
however depends firstly,
if you phone
and Rom support this (yes... your phone should ? )
Then it depends on your service provider..!
to activate wifi calling. (even though you might see
relevant wifi button etc in settings)
I am with service provider Vodacom ( @ Vodafone)
Above, is the procedure i had to follow.
I have volte , and wifi calling enabled on my device.
I also tried all sorts of shortcuts /options.
No luck
I would advise you to speak to
someone in senior management (technical section) Otherwise you wasting your time.
Good luck
I have just come off a web chat with Samsnug Uk and the Samsung representative confirmed that their engineers have now confirmed wifi calling is disabled on UK handsets until they are happy that it's working ok, I had spoken with Vodafone prior to the call today who have enabled the function numerous times on my account but to no avail The Samsung representative said they would release an update for NUgget once they were happy it was working ok. I asked for a timeline and was told that information was unavailable.....

The majority of my calls are wifi, including several over the past day or two. I would be surprised if Samsung intervened in the manner described without attracting a significant measure of publicity.
The issue is Vodafone Romania does not support WI-Fi calling. The only networks in Romania supporting such feature are Digi Mobil (https://www.rcs-rds.ro/volte-vowifi) and Orange (https://www.orange.ro/tehnologii/apel-wifi/). I have the same unlocked dual sim Note 8 (pre-ordered form Altex) and am with the same carrier (Vodafone Romania). I enquired with them about the feature and their consultant told me that such feature is not yet supported. Moreover I inserted my wife's Digi Mobil SIM into the phone and it works unexpectedly well, the option in the notification panel became accessible and was able to use Wi-Fi calling. I know this is not exactly the response you were hoping for but unfortunately, at least for now, it seems we have to live with it.
Cheers!
I don't think you'll be able to enable it until the phone can detect that your provider is actually offering wifi calling as a service

Samsung Galaxy S10 - Unlocked Phone (AT&T Blocked Call Issue)

So many people are reporting with the 3/1 sweep by AT&T, that they are blocking almost all Unlocked phones: See: Downdector Link We personally have a S10 (G973U1). AT&T is saying on this list: AT&T approved phone list that it is supposed to work. But like many other people "calls" end immediately, but we can text and data work. It is some sorta ploy by AT&T to force us to upgrade our phones. They want us all to upgrade to S22s. Anyway I was ranting. Anyway, if you look at that link, they are saying that the phone has to be on the latest software. The last update from AT&T or the manufacturer was in January. I checked the firmware site, and Android 11 is the latest in January. I'm wondering if there is some hack to get us on to '12' or something. An update might solve this issue. We know that a new SIM does not work. Calls seem to be rejected on the network, just based on the phone model or Android version.
We are aware that a version 12 is out there for the phone, just that firmware is not for our US-unlocked model yet. But maybe it can be hacked?
Edit: It appears this thread may be linked with this older one... But it is ever more pressing issue now:
S10 Unlocked phone with AT&T Firmware here they explain how, and the problems with flashing. This was back in 2019, so I'm not sure if this will still work. Even then it didn't work for everyone. Some in that forum claimed that it did. AT&T seems to now be blocking from their calling network any phones not enabled with VOLTE and the extended AT&T services that are not present in Unlocked phones.

I was helped by a user to achieve ascendance onto the AT&T network. I'm not sure if I'm to reveal his name. We 1) go into Developers mode on the phone. 2) Hack the Kernel. 3) Flash the rom to the G973U (model)... with the AT&T firmware. So that the Wifi-Calling and 5G features would work, and AT&T would allow it on their network.

I've literally been searching for an answer to this for days now. My wife and I have S10's. I work far from home so I really need her phone working in case of emergency. Can you please point me in the general direction? Thanks!

At first I had to use the Samsung Band Selector app from the Play store and go into More Network Settings > AT&T > Preferred Network Type and choose 3G. Unfortunately this killed LTE so all data and calls were going through H+. As I was mostly on wifi I could live with it since I could actually use the phone again.
Then Friday morning I checked for updates and there was the update to take me to Android 12. I took the update then when it finished it said it needed to reboot to connect new SIM to carrier services....it wasn't a new SIM. I let it reboot and everything was working with VoLTE again.
Hope this helps.

Note 9 Carrier switch problems!

As the titled says, I have an unlocked Note 9 that was initially on sprint/Tmobile a few years ago and it is unlocked. I just switched to AT&T and i am able to use data and text, but i cannot make calls or access my voicemail. Says call ended as soon as i try and make a call or hold #1. No VoLTE or wifi calling options either. Do i need to flash the unlocked firmware to gain all features?
Please help!
Is it a N960U or N960U1? They are supported.
See attachment.
Similar here. ATT shut down 3G in my area. My carrier unlocked Note 9 is running Oreo 8.1. ATT is telling me i have to update to latest available software released for my device in order to access VoLTE. My wife who has an ATT firmware flashed note 9 never had an issue from day 1. There is something in the unlocked firmware (or att blacklisting unlocked phones) that is not allowing VoLTE. In the hidden menu 4636, my VoLTE is greyed out and OFF. I am trying to decide if i update to PIE and see if it is indeed unlocked. I just liked OREO appearance over PIE changes...
Pie is more secure and is patched against the worst rootkit that requires a reflash to purge.
You need to update your sim card more than likely. Try that first or try the wife's sim card in it.
I was sent a new Sim and it didnt work. i tried another sim running VoLTE and it didnt work. I resigned to updating and Im up to OneUI2 and it still isnt working. Ill go until ive ran out of updates, then call ATT back... they have "assured me" that my sim and account are fully provisioned. I remain skeptical.
Went through all updates, about 4hours worth and 7 iterations. Issue was not resolved until android 10, OneUI 1.0. VoLTE provisioning switch still greyed out but in "on" status. Still no VoWIFI, another restriction I have no desire to pursue.

Question Pixel 7 esim support on Vodafone PT

I'm using a p7 non pro in porguese carrier called Vodafone.
this carrier changed a frew days ago theit support policy abour supported phones.
someone already have a pixel 6/7 working with esim on vodafone portugal?
beta or stable build?
best regards
Phone info:
OS: beta t2b2-221216
Root: no
carrier: Vodafone PT/Portugal
last sim type: nano sim
current: eSIM
date of change: 10/Jan/2023
Current state: not working esim.
I have tried last weekend and it does not work.
I think the problem is that the pixel 7 never asks for the esim PIN which is something that Vodafone PT still enforces. This keeps the eSim 'locked' and it doesn't allow to connect to any network.
Let me know if have any luck getting it to work.
i can't tell if it's a pixel problem or a carrier problem.
for me it's a carrier problem.
a few days ago the person who "help me" in store said vodafone doesn't have a esim compatible with all devices. so customers have to wait for it. until when?....
Other said i made a wrong activation and with a new qr code will work.....but not.
carrier forum support said: service is activated but the device did register on carrier network....
what can we do?

I've had eSIMs with PINs (pepephone Spain) and it works exactly the same as a physical SIM. I doubt that's the problem you guys are having.
Hello guys,
What I did and made it work was:
Scan the QR with Google Lens (or inner app for the camera); copy link to clipboard; paste the whole link in the "put esim manually" option. - Don't use the ICCID.
Remember that you need an Internet connection available (Wi-Fi or Data plan) to configurate the eSim.
Hope it helps!
Cheers!

I don't see how that would make a difference given that with the QR code recognises the Vodafone PT esim and adds it "correctly" even though it never asks for a pin thus not allowing it to connect to the network..
But I can try that method next time.
Btw, when adding the esim manually via the link did the phone ask to unlock the SIM with its PIN?

Hi,
I just did it and it worked.
By adding it manually I mean copy/pasting the link the QR gives: not the ICCID. - Just to make sure.
The first time it didnt ask for the pin code. It simply worked (and it's currently working).
Hope it works for you as well, buddy.
I have a few questions for you:
it was a blank esim with new nunber or a swap from a SIM to eSIM?
it was from vodafone portugal?
where do you paste the qrcode link obtained? chrome or other app?
Cheers

- I made a duplicate in a Vodafone Store of my already activated SIM card.
- Vodafone Spain.
- Directly through the phone at "add SIM card" in the Pixel's configuration option. It will pop-up the camera, you press on "Need help?", then select the manual option and paste the link there.
Cheers!!
thanks
vdf pt only suports a few iphone and samsung fones. they only assure the correct use with vodafone mobile phones.
so i will wait until i have more sure about it (p7 family gain suport esim).
cheers
So sad. I'm sorry. I hoped it helped you as it worked for me.
Cheers!
