Hi everyone,
I have been looking into distributing an Android mobile app but I'm not quite sure about the distribution method.
- I plan to distribute an App for around 10 thousand employees (All within the same company).
- These employees would need to download the App on their private mobile phone.
- The app is free.
- The App shouldn't be visible on the public store.
What do you think would be a possible deployment method for these criteria ?
Many thanks !

Thank you, This is brilliant! All I have to do is find the cab for free now!
Tried to find a way around this but i refuse to pay £30 for this app and the free version does not allow idisk access.
bump, still no luck finding this.
xda-developers is not a pirate site. No one should post the non-free version here. Perhaps there are other programs that are free or that xda has developed. This thread may be more useful in the general section rather than in the Raphael Section.

Pay the money, it's ABSOLUTELY worth it! The free version doesn't even come close to the amount of value this software has.
Anyone else unable to download paid apps from the market?
Sent from my Nexus S
It's only available in some countries.
Does GRH78 have a usable Market fingerprint yet?
Paid apps, or PROTECTED apps. They're not the same thing.
This was an issue for everyone, but Google seemed to have fixed it for most of us.
Yes, GRH78 now has a usable Market fingerprint.

Is there a way to install apps outside app store? I'm only interested in this because i develop apps for myself.
Yes. You need to developer unlock your device, which requires giving ms $99.

Okey. I have developed an app for my IT department(4 people), so to get that app on those phones outside app store, i need to developer unlock all 4 phones? And as i have understood a developer account can only register 3 phones. This is totally ridiculous!!!
You need a company account for what you want to do.

Can i develop an app, send it to a friend which has a developer account and he can install the app on his registered phone?

Android has PPTP/L2TP built in, and it is easy enough to install OpenVPN (especially on a rooted phone). I've used VPN on my Android when I traveled in China. Works great.
So do I have to root my phone in order to effectively use a VPN to mask this usage bc I am not sure I could root this by myself. Thanks for the info by the way. I'm a big downloader on my phone....I dis 70GB last month and will be red flagged at work if I don't fix.

You would only need to root to use some of the OpenVPN clients. PPTP/L2TP is built into Android beginning with Froyo (2.2). Go to your Settings > Wireless & Networks > More and you'll see the VPN options.
So what free app would be a good app for this? I'm willing to pay for the app if needed but would prefer free app of course.

The new app is just an upgrade to the current XDA app, so you should be able to just go into Play and hit "Update" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.labs.play The app is rolling out now, and will take hours to get to...

I cant for the life of me figure out how this apps works. I can seem to get to the S21 Ultra forum which is the only that I currently care about. Is this possible with that app? I can only seem to find random threads that I don't care about...

Been following some forums here again after a break due to the frustration from the format change, so I thought I'd try installing the XDA app again - and I'm sorry, I find it completely unusable.
The old app was very user friendly, brought up your participated and following easily - in the new app, even when I search the forums for a topic, it brings up a bunch of unrelated cr*p. Now, perhaps the forum I'm looking for is in there somewhere, but I don't have time for that.
No doubt there were good reasons for the new format and new app, but not gonna lie - they aren't apparent from this user's perspective. Uninstalled again.
