XAA CSC for SM-F916U1 is Thom Browne Edition. - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Guides, News, & Discussion

I got my device from Craigslist and it *was* a tmobile sm-f916u with tmo/tmo/tmo. I wanted to remove carrier bloat because I'm on Google Fi so I flashed the sm-f916u1 with the XAA csc after some research. Everything seemed to work fine except for visual voicemail. However after seeing that the u1 started getting android 11 and I found the xaa build for android 11 I flashed it and upon reboot I have a boot animation or the Thom Browne edition, and there was a wallpaper set or it. Also there was a post upgrade window that showed it upgrading some thom browne stuff.
When I searched phonedb for thom browne you can see an 'OEMID' number that has xaa in it, maybe that is what that csc was for. It also makes sense when you think about a special edition needing to be carrier agnostic, since its bought direct from samsung.

I flashed this firmware by accident twice now. Once on Android 10 and once on 11.

Which csc do you think we should use if we want an sm-f916u1 build and don't want carrier bloat?

XAA. In the attached that looks like it may be the Thom Browne edition with F916U1TBU1CUA1. My phone build says F916U1UEU1CUA1

Understood, I think we both agree that xaa is the thom browne edition. Earlier you said that you accidentally flashed it twice now. I'm wondering that what other csc codes besides XAA are not carrier branded, given that you accidentally flashed xaa twice I'm wondering what was the csc code that you were actually going for?
I want an unbranded unlocked build that isn't thom browne.
Make sense?

The regular firmware is F916U1UEU1CUA1.
The region code XAA is samsung unlocked so you had that part right.
Here's what you need to download the non-Thom Browne
Model: SM-F916U1 CSC: XAA
Click Manual
Then enter these:
PDA: F916U1UEU1CUA1
CSC: F916U1OYM1CUA1
Phone: F916U1UEU1CUA1
If you notice in the CSC it says F916U1OYM1CUA1. OYM is the regular version of the firmware.
If you get one that says OYZ in it that is the special edition.

Thank you guys for the information! I always wanted to try and see what the difference is with the Thom Browne Edition and now that I flashed it, I'm glad I didn't spend that kind of money...lol...
Aside from the boot logo, homescreen theme, and the bookmark to Thom Browne's site, I really can't find anything else. I'd say the exterior on the Thome Browne is good looking but, at the same time I can't justify that.
Besides the pros/cons, thank you guys again for telling us about this and fulfilling my curiosity!

Question, when I boot into download mode, it detects my devices as tmb/tmb/tmb even though I've flashed an xaa SM-F916U1 build on it and it works just fine. Originally I got this device from someone on Craiglist and it came with SM-F916U TMB build on it.
Now it works just fine, and it is unlocked and working with Google Fi too, but I think it is still actually tmb/tmb/tmb when in recovery or download mode.

???Question: Purchsed note 8, Can't seem to Change Firmware Country origin

Hello, XDA. How are you?
I am used to flashing Sony Xperia devices and It was easy to change country of firmware for the device.
I have purchased SM-SAMN950FDBLKEU from Amazon Canada.
It looks like from United Arab Emirates and it has 4g and other important dates of UAE in Calendar eg. ramadan
I want to Change Note 8 firmware's country environment to Canada or European Countries.
I have tired downloading firmware from sammobile and flashing with odin while OEM locking is unlocked.
Auto reboot and F.reset was checked during the flash.
It still did not change anything. TRA ID is still UAE. Calendar is Still UAE. Still 4g logo. I want LTE logo.
What am I not understanding or doing it wrong?
Thank you.

Welcome to Samsung where they use 2 different SOC(cpu's)!
One Snapdragon soc (North American and China) and the other their own Exynos soc(rest of the world)!
And their firmwares are not interchangeable because of the different SOC's!
Since your phone is sm-n950fd (dual sim correct?) which is exynos soc.. You can only flash any sm-n950f stock firmware on your phone.
You can't flash any sm-n950U/U1/W stock firmwares because of different soc, snapdragon.
So all (which I've seen so could be one that I don't know) sm-n950f firmwares will have only 4G instead of LTE symbol.
Without root:
You can use substratum and sungstratum add-on (paid app) and a substratum extra mod to get LTE symbol if you want.
Edit: here is the link for the substratum extra add-on for the LTE symbol.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ohayoubaka.statusbarsamsung
With root: but you'll lose Samsung pay and secure folder for good so make sure if that's okay with you first!
You can root your phone and flash your country's CSC file/or mod a file for LTE symbol (search XDA for that method).
Or don't worry about it since 4G(world)= LTE(North America)(maybe other places).

Question on RTN and Samsung Pay

So i bought this phone here in the middle east and i noticed that the firmware is from USA (Sprint). and i feel that the phone is used or refurbished. My question is:
1. Can someone easily modify the RTN so that the reconditioned status will be "No" so it would look like its not a refurbished one?
Also i noticed that samsung pay is showing deals from USA, my second question is:
2. How to change the country of samsung pay to a middle east one where im currently residing?
Edit: I have a SM-N960U Phone if that helps.
Edit2: Also why its not updating to Android 10?

1. I have no idea about this. sorry.
2. no, you cant. you have a Sprint version so you just can use samsungpay in US according to your phone's CSC (if your phone's knox hasnt been tripped, ofcouse).
2bis. the U version cannot update to android 10 by OTA. you can use odin to flash the latest firmware to your phone. Since you're living in middle east so i suggest using the U1 version's firmware to get rid of all Sprint's bloatwares.

You have to flash latest android 10 u1 firmware
I have the same model n960u from verizon and i am in middle east too.
But sadly Samsung pay will only work in usa.
Download link latest u1 firmware.

If you want everything work in middle east then you better sell this model and get international model N960F dual sim.
But in my opinion N960U is much more better because it has snapdragon 845 SOC chipset with adreno gpu its very powerful for gaming and battery efficient
and N960F has exynos with mali gpu and it's not that good as snapdragon.
And also thoisands of users has screen discoloration issues "hardware failure" with exynos model after android 10 update.
Apart from Samsung pay everything will work fine same as international model if you flash u1 firmware

Not quite true about these things:
- samsungpay: here in asia, US version N960U can use sspay with some US banks' cards, ex: citibank credit card.
- screen discoloration issue: many Snap version phones have that issue too afaik, so i dont think its chip related. But yeah, the cause is still unknown.
I do agree that snap version is more powerful than exynos one.

well, im not gung-ho on having samsung pay. i can live without it as long as i got snapdragon
im checking your link from sammobile. what does AIO,BST,XAA,XAS mean?
It doesn't matter it's just csc code for who use American sim card.
If you use this phone non american sim it will use xaa unlocked csc code by default no matter which firmware csc you flash
They all comes multi csc firmware.
I recommend you to wait until next week because there will be new updated firmware available oneui 2.1 update with tons of new features from note 10.
Tha firmware i gave you the link earlier is oneui 2.0.

Question [SOLVED] Unlocked Canadian Carrier Info?

SOLVED!
Samsung Official Unlocked Firmware:
Canada = XAC
United States = XAA
---------------------------------
I'm looking for anyone who knows a little more about the firmware's for Samsung phones. Or anyone who has ordered the S21 Ultra from Samsung and lives in Canada.
I just got mine today through Bell, and because it's a carrier phone, it has a bunch of Bell bloatware on it that can't be deleted.
I know that the U1 model phones are the unlocked from Samsung, but as far as I could find, those are all to US residence, do they also ship U1 phones directly to Canada and we have our own carrier tag on SamFW.com?
I'm using the T-Mobile U1 firmware on my S20 Ultra and everything works fine, but we also don't have 5G yet, and with this phone, Bell is giving out the new 5G SIM cards so 5G is coming, and I just want to be sure all 5G bands are going to work. I looked it over and it seems that all T-Mobile bands are the same as everyone in Canada (for any US people out there trying to help, all Canadian Carriers use the same bands) so T-Mobile has a pretty good match for us up here.
However, before I flash the T-mobile SM-G998U1 firmware onto my G988W to remove all of the Bell bloat, does anyone know if there is a Canadian specific or direct from Samsung firmware for the unlocked devices directly from Samsung sold to Canada?
On SamFW.com, for the Canadian SM-G988W, it shows as follows
BMC -Bell
BWA - ?
CHR - Chatr
GLW - Freedom Mobile (@Devhux)
KDO - Koodo
PMB - Public Mobile (@Devhux)
RWC - Rogers
SOL - Possibly Shaw? (@Devhux)
TLS - Telus
VMC - Virgin
XAC - Samsung Official Unlocked (@Devhux)
I couldn't figure out what any of the unknown carrier tags are, and are any of those for the direct from Samsung firmware? (no carrier bloat)
The same goes for the US SM-G998U1 firmwares as follows
ACG -
AIO - Cricket (@iBowToAndroid)
ATT - AT&T
CCT - Xfinity Mobile/Comcast (@iBowToAndroid)
CHA - Chat Mobility
FKR - ?
LRA - ?
TFN - ?
TMB - T-Mobile
TMK - Metro PCS (@iBowToAndroid)
USC - U.S. Cellular
VZN - Verizon
XAA - Samsung Official Unlocked (@iBowToAndroid)
XAR - ?
XAS - ?
Are any of those the direct from Samsung unlocked firmware tags?
If you don't know which is Samsung official unlcoked, but do know what any of those tags are, feel free to post below and I'll update the list so we can get more info on what all of these are.
Thanks
GLW - Freedom Mobile (formerly owned by GlobalLive Wireless)
PMB - Public Mobile
RWC - Rogers
SOL - Shaw? (Guessing)
XAC - ?
Not sure if this helps but here's my Software Information screen from my S21 Ultra purchased from Samsung Canada.
Hey you figured it out, deadly! It says at the bottom under carrier info XAC.
So XAC is the official samsung unlocked firmware.

I missed that! As for the SJR tags, I almost wonder if that's related to Shaw (like how it downloaded the Shaw network settings). SJR = J.R. Shaw (founder of the company)? That would be an interesting tidbit if so.
Need some advice. I have an unlocked S21 Ultra coming from Samsung USA. Should I flash the with XAC or just use it with XAA which is what it should come with?
If it matters I am on Koodo.
Also, I am new to firmware flashing. If I need to flash XAC do I set up the phone with or without a sim card right out of the box and then flash it.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Not sure if there are any other advantages to flash unlocked firmware outside of removing carrier bloatware. Are there others?

Question Can you flash US firmware on Korean or Chinese s21?

Has anyone flashed the US firmware on a bootloader unlocked SD variant of the phone (ie 998U1 firmware on a 998N or 9980)? If so, did you have to change the CSC to XAA before or after you flashed the firmware?
Can't be done on either device. 998N has the Exynos SoC. 9980 can only be flashed with CHC - China, BRI - Taiwan and TGY - Hong Kong.
How about flashing SM-998B to a 998U1 phone? Both snapdragon.
I wound up going with the s20 ultra instead for sdcard support. There is no reason to worry about flashing the US firmware on a Korean or Chinese Samsung. I have the KOO firmware, have 0 bloat, and everything works 100% in the US, including 5g on Verizon and Tmobile.

i dig it up .... have question regarding changing rom 998N to 998B both Exynos? I found somebody make it with s10 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-only-no-need-of-paid-apps-boxes-etc.4481487/
maybe somebody would make same AP for s21ultra 998n and it will work to change it to dual sim?
I also saw this post a week ago but the limitation is that was a modified rom he flashed to convert the model.
For SM-G998N, i couldn't even find combination rom so forget about getting a modified rom to convert that.

Nope no issues as of yet, running really smooth
Works on my ATT 998U!
Reference for others - BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC are the same on all carrier G998U models, just leave out the USERDATA file.
So far, everything works. Sucks to have AT&T bloat again, but it will carry me until the U1 firmware is out.

So far as of today, looking at sammobile, the only models that haven't had their firmwares released for 13 are the U and U1, sans the US Cellular model. The U1 has 13 only if you were on beta. However, for those who have a U and flashed U1 firmware, there's no update available yet.
