Question U1 firmware and U HOME_CSC - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

I notice that with AT&T phones, there are posts about flashing HOME_CSC for AT&T to U1 firmware to enable AT&T functions. Is this just for AT&T, since they don't make their U firmware publicly available? I was wondering how well it worked and if it worked on other firmwares. In my case, I use Xfinity, and either I can have U1 firmware with it's superior call screening but visual voicemail that doesn't work right, or flash the U firmware and get voicemail working and lose the call screening of the U1 firmware, and I was wondering if I could somehow get both working. I've also noticed that Xfinity started updating their voicemail app again that I could use, but from what I remember about that app a few years back, it was incredibly slow, and it also changes the voice mail box in a way that prevents the normal Voicemail app from working at all.

I ended up flashing my unlocked U1 with the ATT software since I had switched from Tmobile to ATT, and everything works correctly, the visual voicemail, wifi calling and I liked the looks of ATT data icons better, and I still get OTA updates.

I have an unlocked ATT device which I am using overseas, do you know if I can flash a U1 firmware to be able to get OTA updates to this device? Currently I'm not getting any.....

Multi-Line on AT&T S8 flashed over to T-Mobile?

Has anyone gotten multi-line to work successfully on another carrier (or unlocked) phone flashed over to T-Mobile? I started with an AT&T S8, and following the carrier change and flash instructions now have a phone that shows TMB/TMB/ATT. Wifi calling, VoLTE and even Video Calling work just fine, but multi-line refuses to appear. An hour of troubleshooting with T-Mobile got to the point where they realized my phone didn't have a T-Mobile IMEI and ended there.
Phone has been reset and even flashed back to an earlier version of the ROM and allowed to update OTA.
No success on multi-line. Has anyone figured this out?
Enable it on the mydigits website... i have a att S8plus on tmo firmware. its not the phone

Switching from SM-960U1 to SM-960U VZW question

I tried flashing my originally SM-960U1 device to a SM-960U Verizon firmware hoping I could get access to all the Verizon specific features like WiFi calling and visual voicemail. I believe that WiFi calling is working properly but visual voicemail doesn't and support said this device will not work based on my IMEI.
Has anyone had luck with this?

Unlocked S10 on T-Mobile - What works and what doesn't?

Would like to know if anyone has confirmed what all works, and what doesn't when using tmobile's network on the unlocked s10.
I've heard things like 4x4 MIMO , VOLTE, carrier aggregation, etc may not work.. Also supposedly slower updates... But if someone can confirm this.
Also, would flashing tmobile's firmware onto the unlocked s10 enable all network features I would get on the tmobile model???
Thanks!
I am pretty sure the only missing item is T-mobile video calling in built-in phone dialer when you use unlocked US snapdragon variant(still bootloader locked) on T-mobile. WiFi calling, VoLTE, 4x4 MIMO, CA works just fine. Yes you can flash T-mobile's firmware if you want video calling (and bloat).

Could you provide some basis on where you got this information? If you have some solid confirmation that would be great.
I have S9+ unlocked and this applies to it, so I am pretty sure the same will be the case for S10+.

Samsung has a compatibility table on their site, and it can corroborate part of VICosPhi's post. The bit about MIMO and CA (up to 5 or 7) is not written explicitly. Unofficially you will achieve these, however.
The phone also supports ALL LTE bands for T Mobile (minus 2 rare ones). 2, 4, 5, 12, LAA, 66, and 71. By flashing the TMO CP I think others restored RCS and video call, haven't really looked into it.

Yes. This is true from S8 onward.
This has beem covered before in this forum.
Radio-wise, side by side, 970U1 reception is not as robust as 970U firmware. YMMV per local radio deployment but it's pretty obvious here where I am (Alexandria VA, DC. metro). I have several 970U1 (Best Buy), but have flashed all of them with 970U because I prefer full T-mo functions and better reception. There's not that many TMo bloatware, and all can easily be disabled with PDP or AH3.

1) Did you flash full firmware(including USERDATA file)?
2) Also did you use CSC or HOME CSC?
3) Have you used regular/standard Odin or Patched 3B?
The reason for my questions is that I flashed my unlocked S10e with T-Mo firmware, but it didn't matter is I flashed userdata file and csc or home csc, there was no T-Mo bloatware. I do know that firmware did flash properly, as the phone did get built-in video calling, T-Mo RSC(advanced messaging), 4G LTE signal logo(didn't see T-Mobile Digits in the settings though)

When I go to phone app/dialer, there is no setting for Caller ID or Spam Protection. T-Mobile's Visual Voice Mail app has a setting to enable "Enhanced Caller Information" and I did enable it in the settings. My phone does show if it is a spam call or like today, it showed a call as "verified" when someone was calling me. I did check T-Mobile branded phone in the store and settings are the same as on my phone. There were no extra options that my phone was missing. Also as you may already know T-Mobile's S10 devices don't have "Multi-Line" settings which would support Digits option in the phone's dialer app and also no VVM that is built into the dialer as well. T-Mobile/Samsung might/might not bring these features in the future update

Darn that caller id feature is only available in the u1 firmware. But at the same time the u1 firmware doesn't support hd voice.

Before flashing my unlocked S10e, there was a setting in the dialer about caller id info. Carriers possibly remove these features as they do offer their own. For example when I access my T-Mobile account settings online, there is a toggle for some spam protection. The caller ID was or is paid service. As for the HD voice, I think unlocked U1 firmware has it, but just doesn't advertise it during call as T-Mobile firmware does. For example U1 firmware shows LTE and LTE+ on the status bar, but T-Mo firmware shows 4G LTE sign, but they both get same speed and connected to the same network. I remember there was a dial code that would show as some voice codecs that handset supported, something like *#0011#, *#1234#. Haven't played with those for a while as I was using Pixel phone

Thanks for the information..
The caller ID and spam protection is the smart call feature built in the phone. It's like free caller ID. Different than the one you talking about.
Definitely not hd voice I compare side by side my s10e exynos voice quality.
Wondering if possible to flash u1 firmware but flash userdata from tmobile? Or even TMobile baseband.
Edit so I was able to flash the latest U baseband on my u1 firmware. I was actually able to change the csc too in the phone using the *#272*imei# code to xaa/xxa/tmb and it stuck. But after I rebooted once I can't replicate that and it always goes back to tmb/tmb/tmb because of my t mobile sim card.
When I was in xaa/xaa/tmb I could see the volte toggle was on. Still didn't show the HD voice icon while in call.

So my S10e at the moment is TMB/TMB/XAA. It shows HD+ icon during calls. You won't find VoLTE toggle (as on U1 XAA firmware), but VoLTE is always on in T-Mobile firmware

So on the u1 firmware you get volte toggle?
Can you change your phone to xaa/xaa/xaa with a tmobole sim card in it?

Yes, U1 firmware had the toggle, but T-MO firmware doesn't, but I do know that VoLTE is always on.
Before I put my sim card into the U1 phone, it was XAA, but when you put T-Mo sim card, the phone gets some carrier info and restarts. After that it becomes TMB/TMB/XAA even without flashing. If I wouldn't flash my phone with U firmware the Video calling, T-Mobile boot logo, HD+ voice icon and 4G LTE icon, Advanced Messaging(T-Mobile's proprietary RCS) won't be present with standard U1 firmware

Is there a way to get xaa/xaa/tmb with a TMobile sim card in it?

For those who use Verizon MVNO's VoLTE Now works after Update!

I have a Verizon S9 with flashed T-Mobile firmware from back when I had it on Metro, which has the Verizon bloat from inserting a Verizon sim, anyway I use RedPocket CDMA Verizon on this phone now, and apparenlty VoLTE was broken last year after an update and there was work arounds like enabling emergancy mode and swaping the sim and it would stay until reboot.
Well Glad to say the new July update, it now has VoLTE!! There is now an option under Mobile Networks for VoLTE. And it works!
One strange thing though now instead of it showing Verizon, as the network it shows "Roaming Indicator off" which its not roaming. But just glad to VoLTE now works!
Another note: This T-Mobile update doesnt show avalible yet online? but yet it updated.
I wonder if there a way I can get where you are. I have a tmoble s8+ and put a verizon sim in to switch it to verizon and then switched that for my red pocket sim and VOLTE option shows in the menu but when I go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu also available through forceLTE app I see VOLTE but its grayed out. Also just as weird is that wifi calling is switched on and I cant turn it off. DO you have wifi calling on and which firmware are you on? I am on security patch level april 1st 2019.. Maybe I need to get your update and that will do it, but I show no update available.

You might have to manually flash the update. But the April patch doesn’t have it for the S9 anyway.
I don’t think redpocket does WiFi calling volte setting is under mobile networks

Is your software ver PPR1.180610.011.g955USQU5DSD3?
Yeah red pocket does not support wifi calling or video calling that is why I cant figure out why that is turned on on my phone. I just want VOLTE to work. I have it in the network settings menu just not on the field test mode 4636 menu and when I make a call no VOLTE.
I might just start from scratch with oden and download the latest verizon image. My CSC says VZN/VZN/TMB. Is that what yours says? granted I know your on an s9 but the s8 and s9 and even the 10 are really similar with there software packages.

YeAH i Know the guys on telegram say most of the stuff works the same between the 3 phones with only minor differences..
This has to be what your talking about.. https://9to5google.com/2019/07/25/g...ng-out-w-july-security-patch-qr-code-scanner/
Here is the reason I believe Im not seeing the update.. https://thedroidguy.com/2019/06/wha...-plus-wont-install-downloaded-updates-1081849
Son of a... awesome.. Ok so I re-enabled auto pre-config.. See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...0v-success-t3558214/post79937998#post79937998
THen I put in a tomble sim and got the update for july. Im downloading it now. I thought that disabling auto pre-config would be a good idea but I relaized the verizon is so anal that they would not allow me to get the update because my phone is really a tmoble branded. Anyway tmoble will give me the update then I can auto preconfig back to verizon and be using VOLTE... THANK YOU for your topic.. finally got it..
---------- Post added at 10:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:56 PM ----------
Unfortunately I'm not getting as lucky as you are. I cant get on VOLTE, I cant even get on CDMA now with my red pocket sim. Ill keep working on it and see if anything else needs to be done, maybe a reset. I got cdma and i think ill have to disable auto pre config.
I wanted to post another update to those who are using an MVNO verizon or possibly other carriers, for s8-s10. I was finally able to get VOLTE to work but you must flash the matching carrier firmware, auto pre config will not work when using an MVNO. I Flashed the verizon firmware for my tmobile S8 and got the verizon modem file which I think made the difference. My CSC changes to vzn/xaa/tmb. Use odin and flash the CSC or CSC home and everything else in the other fields minus userdata. CSC will erase userdata, csc home will not.

Glad you got it! On my s9 as long as auto config switched it was fine. Even worked on T-Mobile firmware for volte before the auto config

How to get carrier config working?

Just got mine today, How does one enable carrier config? I got the U1 model and I assumed just like my S9 flashing the carrier U model and changing sims would result in getting the bloatware for whichever sim inserted but after flashing a regular U firmware its still XAA . Carrier bloat from flashing userdata is there, but CDMA calling doesnt work on Verizon only over VoLTE which is the reason I'm doing this. A lot of areas LTE is spotty and phones wil drop to 1X/CDMA 3G and the U1 firmware is not allowing CDMA calls. Which U1 firmware on my S9 wouldnt make calls over CDMA either until I flashed the normal U firmware.
Thanks!
