Clock unable to set alarms? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I did a bunch of app updates and rebooted my phone and noticed that the alarm icon was gone from the notification bar. I opened Clock and the Alarm tab was completely blank. I cleared the data of the Clock app and instead of being blank, it said "No Alarms". I tried manually adding an alarm, but it said "No Alarms". I asked assistant to add an alarm, but nothing was actually added. I tried to set a near-future alarm, and nothing happened when the time passed. I tried a few more times and got an ANR dialog.
Clock hasn't updated in months. Carrier Services, Android System WebView and Android Device Policy just updated... but I doubt I can downgrade those. Anyone ever seen the like before? The forum search doesn't seem to like me, much.

12 hours later and 2 more reboots, it's working again... some default looking alarms showed up.
I hate magical fixes...

how to turn off the alarm

Hi all,
I had a problem last night where i was testing out the alarm feature. It went off and a small dialogue box popped up and the left button stated 'dismiss', i clicked somewhere other than those areas and then the alarm bell icon went away and the alarm had entered snooze mode - it kept going off every minute or something and there was no way to turn it off.
can anyone shed some light on this if the icon disappears?
also how can i change the alarm tone? going into the sounds and notifications option i get:
''Enable sounds for:
- Events
- Programs:
--Notifications (alarms, reminders)
- Screen taps
- Hardware buttons''
on the second tab called notifications
theres options for ''Event'' allowing to choose an event to assign a sound for it. Theres no Even called alarm or notification but there is one for Reminders. I changed the reminders tone but still that didnt change the alarm tone that went off.
seems the alarm hasnt had much focus during implementation.
thanks,
simba
Change the alarm tone directly on the Clock & Alarms screen. Just tap the little yellow bell thing.
perfect thanks! i didnt know the wee bells were selectable for more features.
anyone else know the solution to the other query?

Unknown Notification Sound

I wanted to post this information since I’ve searched online for hours and could not find the answer: My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 began giving me a notification sound, but the notification bar never showed the app that was sounding the notification. It would start every time I restarted the phone and would go on for at least 2 hours and then just stop. My default notification would beep and beep at a REGULAR interval and the notification bar would always be empty; it was frustrating and annoying. After trying notification monitoring apps, turning off various apps notifications and uninstalling apps, I finally found the culprit. I turned off the Accessibility Notification Reminder and the problem was resolved.
Settings -> Device -> Accessibility -> Notification Reminder.

I had this problem a while ago too and couldn't remember what I did thanks for posting the fix!

Notifications minimised and can't expand

So in the past couple of weeks or so my notifications have started acting up.
90% of the time they are minimised and cannot be expanded.
5% of the time they are minimised but I can drag down to expand them.
Then 5% of the time they are acting normal and are expanded.
Anyone know how to fix this? I've gone through the notifications settings and can't figure it out.
This is affecting all apps and all notifications.
I am on emui 9.0.0.925.
The only recent change to my phone is that I installed a work profile that is required by my work to access work emails and apps.
I don't think I have updated emui recently but I can't remember.
I get rid of this problem on my Samsung galaxy A7. Hope will help you out too.
1. Go to App Notifications
2. Click on the application which you want to unminimise.
3. You can see different more buttons. Click them one by one, you will find an option notification style.
4. Here you uncheck "silent and minimise" by clicking any other option like "sound" or "silent".

Is it possible to change clock app linked to the time in notification bar?

Hey there.
If you pull down the notification bar and tap on the time or the date it will open the pre-installed clock- and calendar-app respectively. (Which is quite handy for manually setting an alarm or timer.)
However, I prefer Google's clock app over the Huawei one, because I didn't find a way to just punch in timers, always have to scroll through minutes and seconds.
I tried uninstalling the Huawai clock via adb, (hoping I would be asked to assign an app) but then tapping on the time does nothing at all.
So I re-installed the Huawei clock.
I know a work-around would be to use the Google Assistant to start a timer or set an alarm, but I'm very reluctant to use it, Google should not be always listening.
So is there any way to change which app is linked to tapping on the time in the notification bar?
Thank you very much.

Notification issue?

My notification dots are frozen, it tells me I have a notification for Facebook, Twitch and when I open the app they don't seem to clear, I shouldn't even be getting notifications because they're dismissed through the drop down when I get them. Happened in the last few hours. Anyone else having the same issue?
I haven't experienced your problem. I'm assuming by notification dots you mean App Badges that show the unread/unresponded to count. These typically go away when you tap the icon in the notification panel to view the event or swipe the notification away in the notification panel. If you're doing one or both of these actions and the count remains try disabling the App Badges for the affected apps and then enabling them again.
Settings>Apps>locate the affected apps>Notifications>App Badges, toggle it off, then back out and then go back in and toggle it on if you still wish to view them.
In another instance where I saw something like this happening the user also tried clearing the cache and app data, but didn't achieve success until they uninstalled the app and installed it again. That wouldn't work for Facebook however because it is a pre-installed app and therefore cannot be uninstalled but it can be disabled. That could be enough if the above method doesn't work for you.
