Question Mi 11 for MetroPCS United States - Xiaomi Mi 11

Can anyone tell me if the Mi 11 is compatible with MetroPCS (T-Mobile) network in United States I had to ship back the Chinese Version as it was incompatible I'm wondering about the Global version Does anyone know if Global version of Mi 11 is compatible with MetroPCS (T-Mobile)

It's true that global version covers more bands but it is also true that it wouldn't help you with Metro. Metro runs on tmobile lte 4 and 12 and both frequencies are supported by chinese and global mi11. 5g of t mobile is supported by chinese version as well, I don't know if Metro has it enabled already.
Therefore you gain nothing with the global global phone. And if you can't connect the chinese one, something else has to be wrong. You can't succeed with hell of a lot other phones either then.

Thanks for the info!

I just received my CN MI 11 yesterday and is what I'm writing this message with while using my metro service in Colorado Springs. I spent all day yesterday trying to figure it out. I finally called customer service at metro and ten minutes later I was up and running. Now I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to get all these funny lines they call writing off of my phone.

what did customer service end up doing that allowed your phone to be "up and running in ten minutes" or don't you know?

They said the phone needed to be added to their network I believe. I gave the the imei 1 and it took a couple minutes. I powered on the phone and made a test call and loaded a webpage. It was working and has been since. You're supposed to be able to do this on there website but I wasn't able to. It tells you that it's free online but cost $20 to call and have them do it. I complained that I wasn't able to online and they waived the fee.

VOLTE in US

I was apprehensive to purchase the P30 Pro because I had some troubling experiance with the Mate 20 Pro in the US on T-Mobile with calls and texts. To my surpise I inserted my sim into the P30 Pro and service was great. Even more surprising when I make calls I still have LTE and it connects in 1-2 seconds after dialing. Now I know I dont have a toggle for VOLTE or WIFI calling but keeping data during a call and connecting very fast was never something that happened to me with the Mate 20 Pro. Is anyone else in the US having a similair experiance?

VOLTE is on based on service menu by default. I feel call quality is great with the P30 Pro... I even like the screen as the phone speaker as well. I had the Mate 20 Pro too... didn't have some of the issues you had since I got it later and probably they address most of everything by the time I got it. I do wish T-Mobile would allow WIFI Calling on it... overseas T-Mobile has it enabled... but unfortunately we do not and there's no setting to do so.
Stupid politics to protect Apple is the underlying cause of the whole "Huawei is spying on you for the Chinese Government Conspiracy" Yeah, someone will say there's proof, and I'm like... well, they make great phones and I'm sure no one in China give ZERO F's about my Facebooking, search history, etc. or whatever someone thinks they are spying on... All I know is I hate having to jump through hoops to buy the phones and wish I could just roll down to a best buy or legit on Amazon, buy one and have all the features supported. I mean google, microsoft, apple, etc. all "spy" on their customers... just because I sign an agreement I guess its ok. :silly:
Spying on and telling you in a tiny word 10 page document ok.. :good:
Spying on and not telling you, not ok.. I guess.
I saw some one said intall Tmobile digits in his mate pro 20, then get wifi calling works. However, I cannot got that works on my son's mate 20. I still not make decision to buy p30 pro. Tmobile's signal too weak in my home, I realy on wifi calling too much.

I got poor cell reception here as well so wifi calling helps when using T-Mobile. In Irvine the city does not let telecom providers install Cell Towers so that they force you to buy and pay $100 per moth via COX Cable of which they have a monopoly over. A pretty corrupt city in that sense. If everyone has good reception then people will not pay the extra $100 per month to get internet at their house. The only place you have good coverage is if you live nearby freeway as they are required by law to have cell towers alongside the freeway. Every where in the city you have 1 bar as require by law to make a call in the event of an emergency.

Which version of the phone do you have. Only thing holding me back from buying this phone is knowing whether it has VOLTE support for T-mobile. I can't use the phone without it.

So I started another thread to find out some info from those people with the Canadian variant in the US if there's greater compatibility with TMobile & ATT. What I do know is that the Canadian version VOG-L04 comes in 3 colors: Black, Aurora & Breathing Crystal. You can only get 8GB RAM if you get 256GB storage option. This is also the Latin American Version as well but have not heard anyone getting from mexico or other South / Central American countries yet.
It has Band 66 compatibility making it better especially for ATT folks.
Also, reported but not confirmed with screen captures, etc. is that it is 100% wifi calling enabled. Once again, this is reported but not confirmed. Same would be true for VoLTE
As for the digits workaround, you need to actually use digits app to make calls meaning getting a separate digits number for your phone ($10 per month) and using it to call it through the app connected to wifi. Similar to google voice workaround.

Amazon.ca but haven't see the phone available yet... definitely not the L04... With the short cut and it enabled does wifi calling work actually? I don't believe that it provisions even if enabled. VoLTE maybe a different story although I still have to check to see if it isn't on with the network info app. I'm at work so until I'm done I don't have my phone to check anything but will try later..
what shortcut maker do you use?
Still hoping that someone with a L04 can confirm all these items as well!

IDK if it's actually working. I guess I could try to make a call in airplane mode. Quick shortcut. Any of them would probably work.
There is one option that requires elevation. I may try it on my old mate 9 since that is rootable.

I am very happy with coverage and quality on my P30 Pro with T-Mo, VOLTE does work as well on mine. I have the amazon.de version VOG-L29 Dual Sim, No issues with Dual sim either. Wifi Calling is something that was always hit or miss with me. I do see the slider die it using shortcut maker but as many overseas phone thats a T-Mo issue not on the phone. Now correct me if I am wrong but isnt the model being sold by B&H the same as the other unlocked versions? Or does software have more bands active?

Definitely a TMobile US issue for wifi calling... they just basically need programming in place so when the sim is inserted, it allows provisioning to the Tmobile network. Now they might not be doing this because Huawei is giving them certain information but more likely has to do with Huawei not being sold in the US officially due to the supposed "spying" Applegate.... Not enough Huawei phones in the US otherwise to waste the time to have provisioning built in for the US.
More proof for the pudding... Apple who has been fighting with Qualcomm over whether or not they "stole" technology (doesn't that sound familiar?) agreed to a new contract because there was no other alternative for Apple to get 5G chips for their phones other than Huawei. Doing so would have meant opening Huawei back to the US and being major competition for Apple... so what does Apple do, throw some money around, make their Qualcomm problem go away overnight and still have their foothold on the necks of the US phone market... Trust me, if Xiaomi starts becoming more popular, they'll be the next one accused of spying... all to protect the almighty Apple...
So unless the general dissolution with Huawei stops... really, all smartphone companies and cell providers "spy" on their customers... wifi calling won't be viable... just have to workaround with digits or google voice

Verizon s8 drive home bands used for rog 2

I used network cell info to track how and what frequency that Verizon used on my phone on my drive home. So at work it uses lte band 13, then drive home usually 2, 13,or 66. Not once did it use 71. 71 is one band the global or US version won't have... At least according to website. I live in NH around portsmouth area. If anyone maybe is interested and wanted to know if you can just jam your Verizon Sim and it should work check your current bands on the app. Will give you a good idea if technically the bands on the Asus phone are there to support you. Idd attach pictures but can't need an url to much work.

We got band support, we just need confirmation that the IMEI numbers will work on the network.
so even though it says "WILL NOT WORK ON VERIZON", its possible it could work??? i cant believe there isnt more info on this.. i called asus yesterday and the guy put me on hold for about 30min and came back and said "yes sir it WILL work on verizon, but being that it says gsm only i called again to ask someone else and the next guy said it will not work. when this phone was announced i was told this one would work on verizon... wtaf
calls and texts will not work on VZW. VOLTE does not work, so with vzw, it uses cdma(3g) for calls when volte is not available. Dont waste your time. Asus F'd up big time with no volte.
Verizon doesn't use band 71, at least not from any chart I looked at when I started researching this phone. It's TMO that uses it, though.
There is one member here that claimed to get it working on Verizon as data only and using a VoIP service for calls and texts. He was trying to look into adding it as a CDMA-less device, which works for at least one other phone (I think one of the One+ phones). He hasn't updated if it was successful or not.

Issue with Activating Unlocked US Pixel 5 with T-Mobile

Curious if anyone is using the unlocked Pixel 5 with T-Mobile? I bought the unlocked Pixel 5 from Best Buy today and went to activate it with T-Mobile and they are telling me it doesn't support VoLTE or LTE Extended Range so they can't activate the device?? This is the model I bought: GA01316-US
I have T-Mobile and dropped my sim card from my og Pixel XL into my new phone (same model # as you provided). Works well, no issues at all.
I'm waiting on the arrival of my phone, but there was a message from TMobile a while back about needing a new sim card to use the 5G SA Network. Does anyone know if this applies to Pixel 5?
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
I'm no expert on 5g, but the sim card I dropped in my new phone has been around since at least 2014, and I'm getting 5g in Phx.

I also picked up my pixel 5 at a Best Buy in the Chicago area. Getting 5G on T-mobile just fine with a 5 year old sim.
From what I'm reading, Stand Alone is supposed to be better. You need a new Sim card for that. I have 5G everywhere with my old Sim. Probably going to get a new Sim soon
I should mention I'm a Sprint customer but I'm using a T-Mobile SIM in my current iPhone 11. I don't think that should matter though?
I'm curious if you all put your IMEI in T-Mobiles IMEI checker what does it say? When I put mine in for model: GD1YQ it tells me that it's not supported on T-Mobile. I did the same IMEI check for Verizon and AT&T and it checked out fine. This is so weird...

I am.
It's a long story, I won't bore everyone with it. I have replaced (tried to) my Pixel 4 XL on Thursday the 29th, which was running on an eSIM.
I called T-Mobile after work to get a new eSIM downloaded. I wasted six hours of my life with getting an eSIM with absolutely clueless technicians. I was really pissed off, T-Mobile has always been number one in customer service from my experience. They gave up and told me to visit a store to get a physical SIM. Bull****. After I told them no way I was visiting a store they wanted $25.00 US to mail me a SIM. As far as I know, it's still coming, but Customer Service in the US has removed the charges from my upcoming bill, especially after I told them I'm talking to them on a SIM-less device. If do receive the SIM, I will be depositing it in a strong metal container. My trash can.
I called back the next day during normal business hours and the eSIM deal took exactly five minutes to get done, as was my experience with my Pixel 4 XL.
Lesson learned? Hang up and call back during normal business hours to find someone with a clue. Everything you are stating that T-Mobile told you is incorrect.
After speaking with the network engineer, I learned that currently T-Mobile is both 5G SA and NSA, that's how he was seeing my connection and provisioning profile for my account, but should change soon. in some areas and they are migrating to complete SA, I am good to go with my account on with both versions of 5G. Right now NSA isn't quite as fast as SA, in theory, but not reality at this time. If I understood him correctly I was on NSA, which could simply be due to my physical location. Pulling 100Mb/s but the potential is there for 300Mb/s or better.
You can find the distinctions on:
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/latest-sim-for-great-network-experience
Your mileage will vary depending on your area I live and tower proximity, I live in a major city in the US, and I understand they are working with the city's downtown area as priority. He was unfamiliar with which bands the Pixel covers, but it does have the antennae to handle the higher frequencies AT&T and Sprint uses, T-Mobile is using the 600Ghz for the majority of its customers:
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/coverage/t-mobile-network
I put my ~4 year old T-Mobile SIM card in my Pixel 5 and it's working just fine on 5G. The sim was previously in my Pixel 4, Pixel 3 before that, and Pixel 2XL, prior to that.
I didn't know you could buy an unlocked Pixel 5 from BestBuy that wasn't meant to work with Verizon or Sprint. I'm wondering if your "unlocked" phone is really meant for one of those two carriers.

So maybe try with an esim? If you put your IMEI in T-Mobile IMEI checker does it say it's compatible? This is just so mind boggling to me. I can activate it with Sprint but not with T-Mobile. It's so weird.

Try getting an eSIM. Eventually, SIM cards will go away as bothersome. Do yourself a favor though, I don't know what your location is, but call T-Mobile during their normal 9-5 business hours. If your call is routed overseas, hang up and call again, or ask to speak to a US based engineer. Please don't take that the wrong way, I found that the outsourced call centers are poorly trained, and cannot perform the simplest of technical tasks. I actually had an argument with an "engineer" when he told me to scan the QR code without activating the EID in their system. Moron. He refused to listen to someone who has some understanding of cellular operations. Then he accused me of not knowing what a QR code is. This is not magic, you cannot just scan the QR code on their website and expect registration without prior entry into the system by EID.
Don't expect the reps at the stores to understand how to set up an eSIM either.
IMEI doesn't matter to T-Mobile at all. When it comes to an eSIM, they do ask you for an EID. The IMEI is either whitelisted after activation or rejected because it's on a "questionable or stolen list" The fact, as far as I understand it, report you phone stolen and the IMEI will become blacklisted. They have the IMEI and the phone is dead to the world. If someone is asking for an IMEI for an eSIM, hang up. Rest assured your IMEI will show up on their systems and your account once your phone is up and running on their network AFTER successful EID based registration.
This is why I find it incredible that people steal phones, when in reality they are stealing a paperweight.
As far as companies like AT&T, they refuse to activate phones if not on their supported list EMEI list, I told them where they can stick their IMEI and walked across the street to T-Mobile after being with AT&T forever. The last straw was refusing to let me use HD voice because didn't purchase the phone from them (IMEI related). Petty, idiotic, they lost a customer. I don't know why I didn't leave AT&T earlier, they refused to activate Nexus and Play Edition phones without a lot of drama.
Here it is, T-Mobile is bring your own device friendly, always has been, that's why IMEI is not relevant to them. AT&T can burn in hell.
Their polices may have changed since then, I wouldn't know, and I don't plan on ever finding out.

I think they have Verizon, ATT, Sprint/TM, Unlocked.
On their web site, Best Buy shows two options. Verizon and Unlocked.

Actually, the unlocked one from Best Buy works with all carriers. It's no different than the unlocked version you can buy from Google.

That's what's so weird. I don't understand why when I put in the IMEI on T-Mobiles website it says it's not supported. It's just so strange to me. Even when I call T-Mobile and try and activate they tell me it won't work. I think I'm going to go and return and try another one. Maybe I got a dud or something... I don't know how but you never know.

Works just fine. Those guys don't know what their talking about.
My carrier, Spectrum, sells the P5 but won't activate an unlocked P5. At least not now they won't, they said in future they would, no time line.
Multiple ppl I talked all bought it unlocked and just used their old SIM and it works fine, even gets 5G in the areas where its available.
My P5 comes tomorrow and I'm just gonna pop my old SIM in and call it a day.

I could not get the IMEI to check with Spectrum. I called them and they are sending me a new SIM. I was told I need a new one for 5G. I will verify I can activate it when I get it. I was able to verify the IMEI with the Verizon check site.

Question Xiaomi Mi 11 Global on Verizon?

Has anyone tried getting this bad boy to work on Verizon?

Yes. I tried. Lack of band 13 makes it a no go. Does not work at all.
Same here. I had to get a Mint Mobile sim for it. They use T-Mobile's Network and if you put the IMEI on T-Mobile's checker, it will say it isn't compatible but it is. Works fine on Mint except my house happens to be a T-Mobile dead zone. Oddly enough, customer service at Mint Mobile will also tell you that it's not compatible if you contact them about it. Kind of annoying, honestly

You can enable wifi calling and VOLTE thru T-Mobile via the secret dialer codes. Google it.
Thanks! This is very helpful. I'll look it into once I'm done flashing the Global rom. It came with EEA version on mine. Though, I've been hearing better things about the EEA variant so I might flash back after I test drive the Global one a bit
It should work on vzw, my mi 11 ultra CN rom is working right now and is sitting on band 2. I did notice though I had no signal until I disabled carrier check for volte thru the dialer with the hidden code and after I rebooted it worked on vzw. Just make sure your sim is activated in another phone first and you be good to go. Also Depending on where you live and availability of other bands your service will definitely not be the same but honestly in NJ and NYC I haven't noticed a difference yet.

Yeah, I think it's all band 13 where I live, more of a rural area. However, I will try to disable carrier check and see how it goes. Actually have a Verizon signal extender at my house but hotswapping the vzw sim resulted in no signal.

Question Samsung ultra 21 Global or US version to purchase for rooting and AT

If I were to buy a Samsung 21 global version for rooting will it work with At&t network out of the box or should I just go for the US version and pay the money to get it unlocked if it is still possible. Also, does any one have any good links to get the global SM-G988b version of phone?
Edit: Accidentally hit enter when editing title.
AT&T has this whole whitelisting of the devices on their network for all features (like WiFi calling) to work. Better to buy a US unlocked variant. In the past, it has been possible to root Samsung US flagship versions.
Ah ok. I never cared about things like WIFI calling. I just wanted to still be able to make phone calls and get internet. Thanks for the info though. I still prefer the Global one if it works in the USA and so just wnateed to know if it will work in the usa.

If you look at the bands, the Exynos S22 is lacking bands 260, 261 (5G mmwave bands) and bands 14,29,30,66 so the coverage won't be good
I have the 998b/ds i just purchased . When it came the card in the package said it wouldnt work on cricket. I went to cricket and called. Ran my imei and was told everything would work fine. Cricket if course is att.
I will be calling today and asking why my coverage is so horrible. I wouldnt have opened the phone if they had told me everything would work.
I am experiencing horrible reception at my home, which is in the mountains. My s20 ultra worked fine and got 5 g up here.
I will report back what i find out. As for now i am disappointed i am not getting 5g at all.
Ok thanks. So looks like USA Version is my best bet.
