Question Disable camera zoom lock? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hi guys! Just wanna ask if there's any way to disable the zoom lock feature of the s21 ultra? While I appreciate the stability it offers, that same stability sometimes causes a hindrance to zoom photography. When the object I want to shoot is not centered adjusting the phone slowly won't move the viewfinder at all. And continually moving it just makes the viewfinder jump away of the target.

click back on the yellow window

Doesn't the lock only work if you press on it?

Hi! Just want to clarify... Do you mean to press the back navigation button when the small window turns yellow?

How I wish it only did that. However the camera AI determines the subject and autolocks to it in 3 seconds. The main problem I'm encountering here is that it autolocks even if the subject is not centered and I can't for the life of me fix that unless I move the camera until the target is out of the viewfinder.

Beyond 10x it's just digital zoom anyway, you may as well take the photo at 10x and crop from there.

I know how to work with photos. Sadly what you said is not true. Try taking moon shots for example. I would like to see the same amount of details shooting at 70x vs 10x to prove what you say is true.

Haven't tried the moon yet but anything beyond 10x just looks too blurry to be of any use to me. I suspect the moon is an exception due to unique image process for the "moon shot".

[Q] Camera App with better zoom for HTC HD2 available at all?

Hey all, Im new to this forum. I have a t-Mobile HTC HD2 that has PATs JW MIUI Sense like 1.9.9 ML installed on it via Nand. I am not fond of the stock camera app that comes with the ROM. It does not have a very good zoom on it.
Is there any Camera App that I can install on it that is like stock and has a better zoom on it? I know there are some free ones on the market, but so far I havent found one with a better zoom on it.
Any help is grateful
Thanks in adavance!
well no, you can get other camera with better quality of photo and effects.
I looking for camera with zoom too
With regards to zoom, the function in a way is somewhat pointless. The camera can take 5.1 Mpx shots, and all zoom does, is digitally enlarge what you see on the screen. So in fact taking a photo then cropping it, does exactly the same as what zoom will do regardless of the zoom factor! For real zoom, it would need an optical zoom lens.
Zoom zoom!

Use Camera Zoom FX. In settings select zoom type 4. You will be able to zoom by a factor of 6.

How to use flash without major whiteout?

For some reason I can't make a reasonable looking picture when using the flash. Everything looks massively over exposed. Anyone else have this problem or is it the way I'm incorrectly using the flash?

This picture is in total dark.. I'm in temasek v8 rom with google Camera.
This is a room that has very little lighting.
In the same room but this one looks okay?
If you have a case on the phone, try taking the same picture with the case off.
Well, it's a bright flash, so some adjustment in the camera settings might help. I sometimes post-process egregious pictures from any source, but this seems acceptable (i.e., same setup, one shot is without flash and the other with flash).

Sort of: I meant that it might be that way for some shots, depending on the environment - so, perhaps checking the camera settings would be helpful.
I agree it shouldn't be overexposed in every flash shot, but in my example shown, do you feel that quick flash shot vs the non-flash shot looks as overexposed as yours?
- ooofest
Looks half decent to me....maybe slightly overexposed. If you could take a shot in total darkness with flash I would like to compare.

Didn't bring the nexus with me today, I using my G4 instead.
But tomorrow I will bring the nexus and post sample photo.
You can always check the resolution settings in your camera app. As a reminder we have a 2.1 megapixel front camera. The digital camera I got as a graduation present in 2002 was 2.1mp.
Low light will also make this lack of resolution quite apparent.
Our back camera is 13mp.
Here is a comparison of 3, 5, and 8 megapixels.

I just wipe the lens and camera and it help big time.

Will post samples tomorrow.

P20 Pro close up photos blurry / not focusing

Hi everyone,
I think I might have a problem with my cameras or maybe they're just not as good as I hoped. The image attached is supposed to be a close up but as you can see it wouldn't focus close up. I was around 2" away from the object. Previous phones handled close ups like this without a problem, so what gives?
How are you close ups?
I've already tried cleaning the lens and changing cameras settings etc

A quick solution
Please refer to https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77804957&postcount=51. Although, from the screenshot you have attached, it seems that your phone is simply too close to the subject. The minimum focusing distance for your P20 Pro is 10cm, so you will need an external lens attachment to photograph anything closer than that. I hope this helps.
Exactly. It even tells you that you're too close. Just back off a little.

I might try what is suggested in the other thread. As for being too close, my 2014 S5 can take close ups at this distance no problem so I expected this "beast" to be even better.
I love the phone but I think the cameras were definitely over hyped
Well it's no secret that the minimum focus is 10 cm. But I agree it would be handy if closer focus could be achieved. Occasionally I could make use of it, too.

Then you guys are in luck. Your p20 Pro comes with a 40MP sensor. So zoom in and crop away at your hearts' desire, my friends .
With all my respect, but that is not the same. Far from it.

Yes, I know. Just trying to put a positive spin on a bad situation I have actually been curious to try out one of those macro lens attachments from Amazon.
I guess they will work okay. I sometimes photograph through a loupe, just holding the phone close to it. Doesn't look as good as a true macro shot, but good enough if you're lazy and don't want to get the DSLR out (I am the queen of laziness ).
auto-focus macro would ask u to go further away. If you'd like to do really closed-up photos, you can do it 2 ways.
1. switch to 3x zoom, then point your subject and take photo. the magnification is quite near to macro.
2. switch to "Pro" mode, then, click "AF-C" to choose "MF", there u can switch the focus slider to get your desired focus. That way, I can get up to 4 or 5 cm closed instead of 10 cm as in auto-focus mode.

[HELP] Optical zoom how to?

Can someone explain to me how to use the Optical Zoom?
I've just got the Moment lenses and the mount suggests I can use the second camera, however everytime i've tried to check which lens is in use, I think i'm seeing the primary 2x digital
Help and advice welcomed

The telephoto camera is only used when the scene is bright enough though, otherwise the phone falls back to its main camera with a 2x digital zoom (which gives better results anyway in low-light scenes)
is there a way of checking which camera it is using?
from my checking it never uses it.

In that case it uses only the main camera all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on Samsung's page it says its a 2x optical zoom.
It only works on the classic photo mode, not the pro one (which I don't know why)
