I totally love the phone itself but I think it is heavy. Before that, I had s8 plus and it was so lightweight.
What do you think?
A high performance processor, optical zoom lenses, 6.8 inch screen all requiring the use of a 5000 mah battery. There’s no way this phone could have been made much lighter with the features included, unless its battery life sucked.
It's ~8oz, that's a half of a pound, the same weight as a small red bull, if that's heavy, maybe go see a nutritionist and possibly get a light gym membership so you can have access to a personal trainer.
Or maybe check out the non-ultra variants as they have plastic backs, and I think the A series is roughly the same experience but should be lighter since they're just made of plastic.

Try balancing a red bull on your fingertips for 8 hours sot a day and let me know how that feels.

Agree. It's hard to convince yourself it is not uncomfortably heavy. You realize it when you pick up another similar-sized phone. I find this is the only negative of this phone.
The weight is a little over 1 oz heavier than the Note 10+ but with a 700 mAh larger battery.
That I wouldn't have an issue with.
What completely kills it for me are the rounded corners and the larger frame vs screen size ratio.
Waste my space.
I really loathe the S10 look... just dog ugly.
Worse no SD card slot... how Apple/Pixel of Samsung. Losers, not near enough storage space and no dual drives
No sale $ammy, you $crewed up again.
Pathetic... if you can't rock it, somebody will.

I've definitely spent more than 8 hours holding and using much heavier items, just imagine holding or using something that weighs a whole pound or more for 8+ hours.
The weight causes my phone to fall out of my pocket more when I sit down. Still, I consider the weight a benefit.

Looks like something right up my ally. I like the idea that the metal can pull some heat of the nexus 7.
I worry the headphone jack will be over covered and block many jacks >.<

I doubt it'll work as an effective cooling method, unless the case is incredibly well moulded there will be a slight air pocket between the N7 and the case. And even if there is an effective contact method there's nothing to dissipate the heat from the metal part of the case. Is cooling really an issue with the N7 anyway? I've only ever noticed it becoming warm during long gaming sessions, and never to a point where I'd worry it was causing hardware damage (though in the long term it could affect battery longevity).
Looks awesome. I can't stand all these leather folio-type cases. There are already like 20 of them for sale but they all look the same. The only thing is it has no kickstand! ARGH!!! I had an Incipio Silicrylic for my Xoom and it was awesome. Where is this type of case for the Nexus 7!?!?!?!?!
I went ahead and bought it. Looks like good quality judging from the pictures. It doesn't ship out until the 20th though...just an FYI for anyone who was looking to order. I will post back with my opinion of it when it comes.
I don't much care for that big ugly logo on the back. If it were plain, maybe, but as it sits it's a big fat no for me.

I think I know what you mean, I like it but.. it looks cool but it's not very practical, lightweight but adds bulk, good protection for the back but none for the screen etc.

$44 is taking the pith and unless the project is patented the Chinese will be knocking them out for $1 within months.
I'd prefer it if they could get the finished product a bit thinner and pay maybe £5 for one, inc p&p but no more.
$20 for international shipping ?
Bloody hippies, why can't they just come out of the closet and say they are just as capitalistic as bankers ?
I do like it. Looks sweet and would match my Mica Plank watch and Bucket Oakleys
17 days left to go and not fully funded as of today. I already invested in my Treegloo so I can't foresee another case. But for 44 bux isn't too bad.
nexus cutting board.
bamboos float so if you accidentally drop your nexus with that bamboo case in the ocean, you will still be able to retrieve it.
I know it's real bamboo wood, but it looks too much like plastic vinyl flooring and bad 70's wallpaper to me. Has an IKEA feel about it.
Haha, I was about to say how it looks like my Grandma's kitchen.
I actually thought it was a chopping board the first time I saw it!!! LOL
Just don't put your nexus 7 in the kitchen when the case is on.

Chopping board, but looks high quality case
this is actually very nice, I would pay around 10-15$ though, and I would want it a darker bamboo, and one continuous speaker hole so the speaker dividers don't snap, and a microfiber interior
Just put my 44 down. I hope it gets funded, I really like the look of it. Very classsy. Good way to make my Nexus 7 look unique.

missing a fornt cover
it would have been nice if it had a front felt cover ( like the grovemade ones for the ipad), or if it was a slip case.
No release date as of yet but I'll be on the look out for this... Priced at $9.99. UPDATE. CONFLICTING PRICES. THE CORES WOULD SEEM TO SELL FOR $9.99 BUT THE UNIT IS $299! NOT PRACTICAL AT ALL.
UPDATE: THE CORES ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE. THAT'S A LET DOWN FOR ME. HOWEVER, I DO SEE THE MARKET FOR THIS.
When we say "two weeks to a month" of power, we're referring to the ability to charge your phone (tested on an iPhone 5) once a day for two weeks. But for people who charge their phone around 20% battery life (instead of when the phone is completely dead), like many people, the charge would last about a month. That's where those numbers come from.

Much appreciated on the heads up, I need this. Ingress just won't be the same again.
Maybe they are leading us down a path whereby we can get much, much better batteries that fit in the stock battery compartment using the stock battery backplate, and allow us to use normal case solutions.
So you pay ten bucks for a 55 watt hour battery that can only be thrown away after charge depletion? That's really stupid and who the foch would buy this? 6x18650 and a $20 case is just much better.

Plus, its a gas filled battery. Hopefully it was drop and heat tested... You get main unit for $300 and need to continue buying $10 refills to keep it "charged" up. Hmm, not feeling it yet.

I could see it working for people who hike a lot or camp or do long bike tours with no access to electricity but... $300? yikes.
I was wondering if anyone knew if any manufacturer was making quality waterproof cases like the Lifeproof or Seidio Obex line cases...
This is one thing I am always jealous of iPhone users.. the wealth of accessories available to them.
I usually go w/o a case, but when I go on a trip, hiking, beach, lake, etc.. I like to have some extra protection for when I take my phone out for some pics/videos..
Alas, it is always difficult to find a quality case in this respect.
I doubt it. No Nexus has never had one that I know of

Just kidding, I'm hoping too. I use my phone for rifle competition and at least a rain and dust proof case would be great. The ol' ziploc "case" gets old.

LOL! Well, you have to do what you have to do. I never thought about using ziploc bags. I will keep that in mind. As for a regular case, I won't be using one. I think the phone is grippy enough to not slip too much if it's like the N5

Noted. I may do the double ziplock bag method to be extra safe

Reviving this to see if anyone had found anything.
I do use the ziplocks for the beach and whatnot but that is really "splash proof"
What I would like is a diving case, something that is good to a few meters.
This is by far the best option out there IMO
Liquipel
Thanks but I was hoping for a case instead. It doesnt even have ot be hard like a fitted Otter, but if it were a small baggier or something I would want it to be truly waterproof and be able to trigger a camera shutter
What about something like this? My girlfriend use something similar when she went hiking around a river with some small waterfalls with some friends. She said it was great and kept out all the moisture. She was even able to take pictures with it because the bag allowed the touch screen to work.
I may pull the trigger and hope that the fingerprint scanner works through it (it does through a ziplock) because our buttons being on the side makes it really hard to wake the phone.
This may sound weird but I'm not satisfied with the batter life of this phone.
Is there any battery case available or do you make one yourself?
Unfortunately, The Latter.
Here's mine!
Now finally the claims of "2 day battery life" sees the light of day.

I couldn't get my hands on Epoxy resin or silicon sealant so hot glue FTW, for now.
To not make it look ugly I just stuck a piece of torn jeans on top to make it bearable.
6Ah Li Po battery, 1A Power bank board, Portronics L-shaped USB-C cable, lots of hot glue, a flatback sacrificial case and patience are all you need to make one yourself.
Technical but it seems too ugly
Cool stuff!
hey, you could try to use someone's 3D printer and software to create a much cleaner housing/case for the external battery

ideally for strength I would go with CNC milling aluminium, or better yet, mill a new chassis and add 2x 4Ah cells in series, since the battery inside is 2x 2250mAh in series for 7.2v, but I'm working with what i have for the moment

I actually just registered on this forum just so I could congratulate you on your work of art! I was looking for a battery case for my OnePlus 8t and found this post... I probably will not get around to duplicating your success... but I also had the same idea. At long last, I'm surrendering my Note 4 from 2015 with its ZeroLemon 10,000 mah battery which would go at least 2 days often 5 between charges. I joked that I could go on a 3-day drinking adventure and when I sober up my phone would still work to tell me where I'm at! Just kidding of course... I hardly drink. Anyway, your kind shall triumph! Ha ha! Keep up the handiwork!
Interesting work
