it is not recommend to update your OS directly from Setting while Magisk is installed ...your phone would go into bootloop(unusable state) there are also stories of people that are force to buy new device because of this silly mistake also installing OS update from Setting would uninstall Magisk also worse case scenario would lock your bootloader too which as your provably know it's nightmare

Maybe corrupted download? Try downloading again.
I had a corrupted download and ended up bricking my phone. Had to flash the Raw 1906 then incrementally update to 1908

Let me download it again. Hope it works. If this does work, I will feel a lot better about updating my awesome phone in the future. Coming from Samsung on AT&T hopefully ASUS keeps the updates fairly regular.
Nope, still not working. Oh well, guess I can wait for the raw version.
But if anyone has any ideas on what I am missing, please chime in.

If you haven't changed the fingerprint to WW yet, the OTA file will be recognized and fail. Change fingerprint and you should be good

I never set a fingerprint. so if I set one now, and then try the update it might work? I guess I will try that and see what happens.

It's not a physical fingerprint, it's how the phone identifies itself. Follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ro...w-rom-changing-cn-fingerprint-t3969765/page12

you probably got a Chinese 8gb version with flashed WW firmware, which means no OTA anymore. You gotta flash manually after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and so on.

I'm on 1906 ww. I understand this phone needs a manual flash each time, do I need to flash with every update using raw files and will this also wipe the phone so every update means a wipe?
Can I root, install twrp and simply update the firmware no issue or is it bs?
How do I actually manually update to this? When I hold down on the options button and choose "more options", it still only says Auto-Download System Update
Do I need to flash through fastboot?
Edit: Nevermind, I restarted my phone and it gave me a pop up saying it sees the update

Do they know the CEO of Samsung or something? This is the most frustrating Beta I've ever been apart of. Can't even test the damn thing.
Has anyone tried it on an S10 (G973F) with November security patch? And since it is asking to have checked OEM Unlock, does it unlock the bootloader?
----Edit
I've tried sideloading beta1 over ASJG didn't work I had to downgrade to ASII to make it work.
After installing beta1, playstore started telling me that my device is not certified and can not install apps like Netflix. so flashing (with CSC not HOME_CSC, so I don't know if it work with HOME_CSC) ASJG with Odin fixed the issue.

Since it's beta, it won't be certified by Google. That warning is even showing on all official betas. Netflix is a known problem and the Play version won't work. Most have been downloading Netflix from Apkmirror and that works.

First, use frija to download the proper firmeware fir you.
The boot your device into download mode and the flash it using odin (using home_csc, if it doesn't work try it again with csc) and the downloaded firmeware.
It should fix your problem as you go back to Android pie

The OnePlus 7t Pro 5g McLaren (at least the one from T-Mobile; I don't know about other versions) has a crucial issue
in how it handles factory resets/wiping userdata, and OTA updates.
The stock rom contains a file, `/data/reserver/reserve.img`, which is an ext4 image mounted at `/system/reserve/`.
It contains a number of OnePlus specific APKs and is not particularly required for a functioning phone (though I
believe it may have stuff which is preventing my fingerprint from working, but that is speculation), but this image
is updated by standard OTA updates. As there is no way to read this image without a rooted device, and there is
currently no way to root your device without unlocking your bootloader (which would nuke userdata), any 'master
reset' (as described here) or `fastboot -w` or `fastboot erase userdata` will kill your ability to take OTA updates.
[edit start]
Apparently the tmo method will not kill it. Only the unlocking bootloader or wiping via fastboot should.
[edit end]
The OTA updates given out are what are called `delta` updates, which are a record of changes to filesystems and
not whole filesystems in and of themselves. As such, any change to the expected filesystem images (system, vendor,
this reserve image, etc) will kill your ability to take OTA updates.
If you're having issues OTA updating, you can check if this is your problem by checking if this file still exists
(`adb shell ls /data/reserve/` should return reserve.img) or by grepping your logcat during update attempts,
checking for sha256 hash errors on the 'reserve' partition.

TL;DR: don't unlock or erase userdata on this image, or you'll never get another update until OnePlus fixes this.

No, I think you're good on those, as there is a full software package on the oneplus site you can use to restore.
the HD1925 models do not, so we're screwed until something gets fixed/figured out.
Thank you very much!
Finally,, I know why I can't update. Thanks.

Hope so. honestly its just a case of bad design on OnePlus's part. What's the first thing the help desk going to tell
you to do if your phone isn't working? Exactly, wipe /data. And now no updates for you.

Nah. its a bit of both. OnePlus was stupid for putting 'reserve.img' inside userdata,
but T-Mobile is even stupider for not implementing the fix non-TMO OnePlus
devices use, which is to switch to full OTA updates.

Oh God.
I'm sorry to read that you updated from binary, going back will be a bit impossible. through odin no longer.
You will have to wait for someone to work on something for those who are in binary 5.
upgrading to binary 5 in my point of view was totally unnecessary.
Good luck colleague, hope that someone can give you a solution through root or wait for an update in May.

MMMMMMM..
Every time that OTA sends an update, the software version comes out and therefore the binary.
if you download a system to flash via odin, you force the binary.
I even warned right here about that topic.
but unfortunately, nothing can be done at the moment.

It only remains to wait for Samsung to send an update that fixes that.
wait for a developer to send solutions via root.
I recommend you to use Kernel Bandido.
I don't know if it is compatible with binary 5.
