Share twrp backup of persist and efs? - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

anyone want to pm me a backup of stock persist and efs by chance? Im aware of all hazards and cautions that go with it. XT1806 Retus. 64gb if possible.

I believe using someone's EFS or persist won't work because it's tied to their phones IMEI which is specific to each phone. But I could be wrong, it's a good experiment if you got nothing to lose. Minimum would be no wifi or mobile internet and gps and bluetooth

You can get your IMEI back by reflashing stock ROM, does it display IMEI 0(zero) ? The phone needs the IMEI to be able to get service. You fix the IMEI, you get the service back.
Are you on the latest firmware update?

you know what, flash a custom rom and you probably will get back network signals.

I did not, but a clean wipe does not touch the radio. The radio is there,; it's just not connecting to it ( I checked baseband)
OP, the same thing has happened to me (and I'm on Verizon). I'm on Euphoria and flashing any other ROM makes me lose data, same thing.

True a clean flash doesn't, but in some of the other ROM threads, some say that helped.

Edit: Just tried flashing latest radio; no luck. I guess the next step is doing a full flash back to stock on the phone...bummer.
Annnnnddd flashing stock gets data on stock but not on the ROMs. Hm. It seems only stock based ROMs work
bump...anyone else experiencing this or know what's going on? I'm stuck on stock now.
I wonder if the latest TWRP has something to do with it, cause i had no issues until last week

well, that radio will work, its an older radio though. yes, radio needs to be flashed, as of right now you are missing one.

you would need to unlock your bootloader to flash via fastboot, or to flash twrp recovery to flash a .zip.

If it is true, what you've said about not doing anything to your phone, then perhaps you need a new Sim card. However, when someone says "I don't remember if I did anything" I have serious doubt that you haven't done something. You don't mess with a $650 device and not "remember" doing it.

The factory reset on a 64gb will take 20 or more minutes. By forcing a restart before it completed, you may have caused the error.
This is the kind of information that is needed for those that wish to help. It is proper XDA procedure to provide as much information as possible when creating a thread such as this. We are not mind readers or magicians.

I understand that you would like to get your problem solved ASAP, but please read what people post. You CAN NOT restore another persons TWRP backup. It will either screw up your device even more or it just wont work. You need your own TWRP backup, which you don't have so TWRP is out of the question.
At this point your only hope is to flash all the stock images from fastboot. It's a relatively easy process as long as you read and try to understand what you're trying to do, and for gods sake don't try to use one of the toolkits to do this.

As @Evolution_Tech told you, bootloader unlock has absolutely no effect on WiFi. Whatever you do to solve this problem, DO NOT RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER!
And the fact that your WiFi works on stock ROM, but not custom ROM, tells us something (I'm just not sure what).
Well, I'm not saying that the relocked cause the issue, I'm just saying what I have done before it started happening in fact just saw another thread that is having the same problem...last night I l rooted again the and again no WiFi, so I got back to stock and guess what no WiFi , so something is wrong
BTW my phone rebooted itself and now I have WiFi again...this is really weird
Out of interest, what do you mean by "no wifi"? That's not a helpful description of the problem.
ok WiFi option wont turn on, it hangs and never get activated
its a problem of error in files consisting in "persist" folder that are responsible for wifi
reflash stock rom

Well, your experiments point to the ROM. I'd suggest restore your backup of stock, get WiFi working again. Then try a different ROM.

If it works on stock, rooted... That's what you need to confirm.
Ensure you full wipe when flashing a custom rom. Try another rom and don't let google download or restore any setting during set up of the new rom.

I had an LG G2 that it happened to. Something must have went wrong during the flash. Just happened. Nothing I did wrong, just happened. Started backing up EFS after that. Backed it up during initial flash of N6, save it to Gdrive. Haven't worried about EFS since.

IMEI repair

I'm planning to buy the K20 Pro from Aliexpress with the Chinese Rom and then flash the global ROM.
I've searched the forum but couldn't find anything regarding IMEI repair incase something goes wrong.
Is it possible to repair the IMEI on the K20 Pro? has anyone tried it?

In ten years of flashing a hundred phone's I've never experienced an IMEI issue. It's so extremely rare you almost never see it mentioned in any forum of any phone. It's really the last thing you need to worry about with this extremely fickle phone.
