Enable VOLTE for Telstra (Australia) - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

hey anyone been able to successfully get VOLTE working on their xz1 compact on the Telstra network?
i've flashed the oem.sin from the Indian XZ1 dual firmware, but that didn't work.
so im curious if anyone has been able to flash any other file to their xz1 compact to get volte working.
Also i have locked bootloader and been using flashtool to flash the files.
also can i flash teh oem.sin file from say the xz premium firmware onto the xz1 compact?

ok so i've tried flashing the oem.sin file from the xz premium firmware using flashtool and it failed because of the signature..
so i guess I would have to stick to oem files from the xz1/xz1 compact firmwares.
so the question is which country firmware might enable volte for telstra.

I have the Xperia 1 II and volte works in Australia.
I recommend you flash SEA region Firmware on your phone. See if that works on Telstra. If it doesn't then put a Vodafone Sim card after flashing to see if volte works

[Q] Flashing a 6603 (intl generic) FW on a Bell (6616) device?

Hello
I am wondering if its possible (and if so, if it works!) to flash a generic firmware on a Bell branded device (customization number 6616).
Thanks!
its possible to put a unbranded rom on a carrier branded xperia phone , without root i think it gets a little messy but it is possible... with root it should be easier
I'm looking for a workable reverse solution. I have an unlockable 6603. Can I flash 6606/6616 radio baseband and get LTE coverage on T-Mobile or AT&T when in the US?

Firmware updates

Hi guys, i was wondering if Sony releases updates in different regions at different times ?
I read in another thread that the Oktober release was already available ?
If so can i use a VPN client to get my update quicker ?
Still on the august update here.
Yes, depending on your region (and if dual sim or single sim), updates are released at different times.
You can, however manually update by downloading the firmware using Xperifirm, and manually update using newflasher. The flashtool software hasn't been updated yet for the XZ3.

I have downloaded the correct firmware (unbranded UK) for my phone model.
Does newflasher work with the XZ3 ? I also tried Flashtool64 but this software is not updated for the XZ3 yet, it does download the firmware but when selecting flash no packages are shown.
So i am a bit stuck.

You can download another firmware for your device model using Xperifirm and flash it using NewFlasher. While flashing you need to exclude the files ending with .ta extension.
There is a tutorial available for Newflasher.

DO NOT exclude ta files. This is bad advice for newer Sony devices.
Only exclude userdata sin file if want to keep own files

Wifi Calling

Hi.
I've just bought a XZ3 specifically to use Vodafones UK Wifi Calling, however cant access it.
Vodafone provided instructions ie phone - three dots - settings but it isnt there.
I've read online that I need to change the firmware but not sure which one to switch to.
The current model is a H9493 which seems to be Asian.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks

Xperifirm, newflasher (both in xda)
Install firmware of your region.
And make sure you use the dual/single sim version corresponding to your hardware.

Correct, Xperia's require regional firmware to gain use of VoLTE and VoWIFI.
You can use ANY of the H8416 or H9436 (single sim) that is UK region to flash with.
The H9493 is specific to Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, Easily Identified by the 6GB RAM.
I have the H9493 and am currently running US region H8416 with no problems.

[Q] Firmware update for SO-02K (DoCoMo) version of Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact

I've got Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, SO-02K version from DoCoMo. Firmware is 47.1.F.1.80 (Anroid version 8.0.0), bootloader is locked. All working normal - 2G/3G calls, Messages, WiFi, Bluetooth.
Software Updater App says "Unable to connect. Retry after a while". Using XperiFirm v5.5.0 I downloaded latest firmware "SO-02K_NTT DoCoMo JP_47.2.B.5.38-R11C".
Please, help me answer to questions:
Can I flash downloaded firmware?
Will all things work normal if I flash this firmware?
Will my smartphone be locked to DoCoMo operator after firmare update?
1. Yes
2. Probably
3. Is it now ? If yes, then Yes.

Flashback Xperia XZ2 SOV37 Back To Original AU Firmware

Hello everyone, I just want to ask. I've Xperia XZ2, it's AU Model (SOV37), using Global Firmware (H8216).
I want to flash back into it's original firmware in order to use the NFC.
I already download the Japan Firmware (SOV37_KDDI JP_52.0.C.5.295-R13B), but I'm afraid that it will sim-locked if I flash it.
I'm also afraid that since this device wasn't able to unlock the bootloader (since the Bootloader Unlocked Allowed: No), can I still flash the firmware?
Can anyone show to me step by step how to flash the firmware (Not flash the STOCK ROM)?
Thanks in advance.
as long as you delete all the .TA files there shouldn't be any problem, though the latest japan firmware available is android 9
not sure what you mean by firmware though, since technically what you trying to do is flashing a firmware as in stock rom
