Question Blocking text messages as spam that orginates from Email source - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

So I am using Samsung's messages and phone because I need it to enable Call & Text on my Tablet. But samsung messages doesn't allow me to mark a spam text that doesn't have a phone number associated with it. it only deletes it. Verizon wants to charge $17 p/m which seems absurd. Any ideas? I can't be the only that has this problem right? Currently using stock software on VZ.

I'm on Verizon unlimited and I can block email messages for free. I forgot exactly where but if ypu log in to your account from a pc there are blocking options for this in your device settings.

Because they suck lol. They charged me $40 because I bought a new phone from Samsung and activated it. I'll just stick with swapping sim cards next time. There are more options with the paid service but that's all I need anyway. Hopefully that did it for you.

How do I register fusion voicmail? The service provider tab won't open! Neway have an idea???

Yeah the app is kinda redundant. Its a good start tho, could be better.
Not that bad...
I don't mind the app much. If you are like me, I only have 300 minutes, most of my calls are to myfaves so its free, the few minutes I have, I don't want to spend listening to prompts and voicemail. This app will save me 30+ minutes a month.
I registered on pvmplus.com after you add your first number there is an arrow that says "next" or "done" right under the place where you can add another number. The next page will ask to send you an sms and you have to enter the verification code. After that it will tell you to change your forwarding numbers under settings and it works... somewhat. I'm actually in the process of downloading a 6 second message. 5 minutes into the process...
and 2 minutes later I still haven't downloaded the 6 second message. Fusion is stuck download. I guess you can't delete the text message phone fusion sends you (that is full of numbers and crap). Will try again after I restart my phone and send a new message.
Don't delete the sms message!!
The message is some sort of information holder so the phone can access the right VM when connecting to phone fusion's server. Without the sms you can't play the VM and will have the application stay stuck trying to download the VM.

i was always under the understanding that checking your voicemail was free as well i guess i might have missed something. if you get a paper bill look at the voicemail calls to see if its indicated as a free call.

I would definitely check the bill. I'm almost positive that checking voicemail is free.
I found Fusion Voicemail confusing and annoying, personally and promptly removed it.
I didn't realize VM was free. I don't use the phone much and only had a few about 60 minutes gone, I figured it was VM.
Once you get the fusion VM started it works great.
It should be getting better in the future.
For now it works great for me. You can even customize your own personal greeting now!
The prob I had with it was that some of my calls would go straight to voicemail... even when I had a full signal and wasnt talking on the phone. I would just never get the call.
Since I have uninstalled, i dont have that problem anymore.
Hmmm, I've been having that problem as of late. Not often, but enough times that I remember it happening. Doh! I hate waiting for the recording to shut up and give me my message. OH well, damn you fusion!!

LOL, T-Mobile voicemail. It is annoying. I found YouMail, and it is the most awesome voicemail system. And if you have T-Mobile @ Home service, YouMail thinks it is a cellphone and lets you use it with your home phone too. It then emails all your phone messages to you, or you can check them the normal way.

Text messaging

Hi all,
recently i got myself a dell streat 7,
but i can't seem to send text out but i could receive messages from tmobile.
I have prepaid data plan.
Anyone know how to solve this?
Thank you
I don't think text messaging is included in a prepaid data plan. I think it only comes with the monthly plans

When you purchase the Dell Streak 7, it is assigned a telepone number. You may send/receive text, but not call out. If you go to your "Settings", "About phone", then "Status" (there you will see the telephone number). If you download Google Voice from the market, you may set it up using either the phone number assigned to the tablet or, you may choose your google number. Whichever number you choose, this will appear when you send text. Note that when you set-up Google Voice you will be prompted to enter your gmail address. You will be asked what number is assigned to the device (it will show the device telephone number and your google telephone number). During the set-up, choose skip for phone call verification since the device will not receive calls. Once you have done this, your calls will download to the device. If you have more than 1 Google Account/Voice, you may log-out and log back in using your other info following the above steps.
Text Messaging and Prepaid Plan: You may need to call T-mobile to ask if text messaging is included in the Pre-paid data plan. I checked, but I didn't find info on text messaging for the pre-paid data plan. If text messaging is not included in your plan, you can still follow the above steps for Google Voice and when prompted for which telephone number is associated with the device, choose your Google telephone number instead of the device phone number. Try to text your phone and your email account to see which number appears. When I sent a text to my Yahoo account using the T-mobile device number, I found it in my Spam folder, so check that folder if you choose to try it this way. Also, the first two messages I sent out did not go through using the "text application" on the phone. When I downloaded Google Voice app, the messages start to go through. I tried it using both numbers. Also I tried logging out and using my second Google Account and it worked as well.

You will not have a phone number if you don't have a data plan and haven't set up prepaid service. My number is blank and I have the sim card installed. I signed up for a 7 day pass and that's when I got a number assigned nit it was still blank in settings. Like we said earlier text messaging comes with the monthly plans but does not come with prepaid. I tries sending a text when I had the 7 DAY pass and it was a no go
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I also tried the 7 day pass and I was assigned a number. They told me at the tmo store that I could get the data plan without a contract for $40, but right now I'm using my simple mobile plan which includes unlimited text.
You can ask a Tmo rep to add a messaging plan. There is a plan for that.
You could also try kik messenger for texts, which works much like BBM - however, you can only send texts to other kik users. You just need WiFi to use it - messages go through any data connection.

I got the Dell Streak 7 on Feb 2nd. I called T- Mobile to add text and was told that they are included already in tablet plans.
I just got a bill with $8 in text and called to fight my favorite company. They were unsure if text were to be charged or not. The crappy Galaxy tab has unlimited text, however.
I'm waiting on a call FROM a representative to let me know what's going on.
As a matter of fact I'm going to call now.

OK--- I was credited the eight bucks and verified that there is unlimited text and data on the Dell Streak 7 from T-Mobile for $39.99/mo plus tax.

AT&T Messaging... like GV but from AT&T

http://www.att.com/shop/apps/att-messages.jsp?source=IAMS2500000000ZCU#fbid=2j54IbKcpyR
Its essentially just like Google Voice but uses your own AT&T number with voicemail, texting, mms, and missed call notifications.
Just loaded it... be weary, looks like it take some time to sync and begin... its not as quick as GV either
do you see any obvious advantages? other than being able to use your own number
EDIT: installed it, nice app. i like it
Backup and review of all messages on the cloud. Slightly safer than Google.

tried it right now and here is my thoughts on it
Pros: You are able to text from your computer using YOUR number and not the number that google has given you. Also if you dont have a signel on your phone you are still able to text from your computer, this also goes if you dont have your phone with you but you are still at a computer. Its an all in one system were you can get your text and voicemail in one place
cons: For some reason i cant get the website to load my messages but that could be just me, at this moment you cant disable notifications, not that much customization
i feel that it can be a great app given more time to improve on it but for right now i installed it tried it and uninstalled it because google voice is still better
Took a couple hours but it started working super smoothly. I don't like how it handles missed calls so now I use the messaging app for texts and what not and Google voice for voicemail.
Sometimes tthe messages don't sync but a force kill and app restart fixes it.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
does this require a texting plan? currently I block all texts to and from my phone and just use GV, does this use data only for texts? I'm guessing AT&T wouldn't be that stupid...
it requires data and text but the data doesnt count unless you have a 4g plan (for now). just texts at some point. says so in the fine print.

after you sync, give it a couple hours to settle (youll know when you only get notifications for the att app and not from the Android Messaging app).
Does this cost money to use like at&t navigator, at&t music, etc?

Great timing for this app. I was debating purchasing a DeskSMS license but this is a good alternative.
this app is weird. i was kind of hoping for an app to sit in my sys tray so that i could see my texts from there and reply, like any other instant messaging app. This app requires you to log in to a clunky website to send and receive texts. the notifier app only tells you that you have messages.
It is clunky. Also expired my VM. ATT guy had no idea about the app or what it does and couldn't answer why the VM was expired. Seems that this app sets up another VM or sorts. Not crazy about the notifications either as they don;t seem to update when on the conversation...I dunno. Deleted it per the ATT service rep...funny really as one section has no idea what the other is doing.
I just get a message that says it can't complete the setup and I should contact AT&T support...
After you install the app and activate the service, this will change your voicemail retrieval number. If you used to call from another line to check your VM, you will need to call a different number from now on. Of course you also get Visual VM now.
I coud not access my mailbox, I was getting a prompt saying that my mailbox was not found, until I realized about this change. I fixed it by updating the call forwarding setting, under Android settings > call settings.
Tried it and don't like it. "Messages" app seems to take up a lot of RAM as well as battery. Made my phone a little laggy at times as well. How do I get my OLD voicemail back? I hate calling and having to enter my PIN # every single time to check messages. I used to be able to just click the notification icon and it'd go right through. Any help would be appreciated.
I had to call ATT to have the VM reset. It turned in to an hour long process with the ATT guy calling me back 3 times.
Edit..I take that back PIN still isn't working.
the app tells you that your voicemail will change. Its not a surprise by any means. If you want to change back your voicemail just ask that the give you basic voicemail. Takes two minutes. Just don't forget to set your greeting.

[Possible Fix] SMS sending issues

Hi guys,
I have been experiencing failed SMS sending using Google hangouts after multiple SMS sends. However, I was still able to receive SMS and use my data. I called Google but all they said to do was restart the phone, remove Sim card from phone or factory reset.
I tried restarting my phone and removing the Sim card but no luck.
What I did to fix this issue was go to settings, under wireless and networks, select more, then mobile networks, then network operators, then select automatically.
This seems to have worked.
I just changed the default SMS app. Go SMS, works perfectly fine. I think the integration with hangouts is stupid.

Good to know, didnt want to spend the moola on it and not have it work properly.
My reply may be meaningless, but I remember when I had my Gnex, certain messages like MMS would not work. It wasn't until I changed my phone to a Galaxy S2* on my account that I was able to get messaging working. I read somewhere, my phone needed certain information (APN stuff) for MMS. Will it work for this? Probably not and this post is probably stupid.
*T-mobile didn't have the Gnex in the list so I chose the closest model to mine
This sucks I'm still having the issue. Anyone else having the same problem? I am on Rogers.

iMessage works between phone numbers and Apple account (email). You don't need any registrations and it will automaticly detect if recipient can receive iMessage (based on phone number) - if not, it will send SMS.
If you want to use hangouts, you must register to Google+ and you must know recipient's gmail address, because it can't detect based on phone number etc. From my contacts, only 5 - 10% uses Hangouts. For reference, 90% my contacts uses Viber and about 70% uses Whatapp. Both Viber and Whatsapp are miles ahead of Hangouts IMO.
And another thing: I made mistake and hid my GF from "People you hangout with" list and now Im unable to unhide her. Now I can't see if she is online and if I can send her message via Hangouts. For that reason, I send her only SMS.
Just look how many Apple users uses iMessage and how many Android users uses Hangouts.

VZW Voicemail

My phone is sending calls to my voicemail as it should, but I'm not getting a notification. I suspect it's because the phone's name and picture doesn't show up in my list of phones and seen as a "non-verizon device.
Should the notifications show up once VZW releases the phone, or will it forever be "unrecognized"?

Apparently it is included in my More Everything plan. Now, if I could only figure out how to use it, or unsubscribe....
VZW FAQ's talk about an actual VVM app. I don't have it, and cannot locate in the Play Store. Without that app, I can't figure out how to access VVM to try it. Maybe I'd like it.
Not having the app means I also cannot access VVM settings to unsubscribe. Fascinating Catch 22.........

Actually, as I was looking around, I found an app called "youmail".
Just installed it, and I'm going to give it a go. I works like VVM, but first it "intercepts" calls going over to VM @ my VZW server, and then puts them in the youmail inbox. It puts an alert up in the notification barWhat I find intriguing is that it can send an email alert, which allows me to hear the VM from within the email, and I can access my account and my messages from the web. It can also send TXT alerts, but hey, that means I have my phone in hand, so what's the point of that?
Better lucky than good. I'll entertain myself with this app for a bit. Then, I'll see if I want to go back to the VZW service
I've been on YouMail since I got my N6 in December. So far, so good.
