Question T-Mobile S21 Ultra BL Unlockable with Carrier Lock? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Today devices are either hit or miss, with being able to UNLOCK the Bootloader when a device is Carrier Locked, YES! we all know they are different things. Pixel 4XL from T-Mobile took me (7) Upgrades and Returned if they wouldnt whitelist the imei. I jumped through hopes and it should have been them doing the jumpin. My 7th and Final shot at getting a Carrier Locked Pixel 4XL with 100% owed on the lease. That day cam and i almost said fukc-it, i aint even gonna bother, so it sat in the UPS box, not yet activated or opended. I got the right fukcin guy at Care who whitelisted the Pixel while it was still in thtivie shipping box not yet on my account. He almost whitelisted Pixel 4XL number 6 cuase it was activate on the account at that time. All the hours and time i spent fighting with corporate suites over illegal policies and it took the Rep min before i was able to push Permenant UNLOCK.
I know Samsung has gotten a lot trickster which is why i steamed away to many other Android Devices. I just ordered the 21 Ultra and got it for FREE when trading in me $88 Google Pixel 4a! I am hoping i do NOT have to carrier Unlock the S21 to BL Unlock. If so i might have to exchange for OnePlus 9 PRO where i am almost posive i can UNLCOCK the BL on the OnePlus Devices while Carrier Lock is implemented.
My main reason for going for the 21 Ultra is definitely the camera quality because i take a lot of photos for my new start-up company, The Cannabis Consultant found at The Trap House of NJ LLC. Every strain of flower i take high res photos for my customers, of of fresh weekly flower flown in from the west coast. Indoor Grown and Medical Grade ONLY. That 21 Ultra paired with a few cheap amazon accessories and i'll have my low-budget photo-boother set-up in NO-TIME!
There is 1 device i would choose over the S21 Ultra, the Xiaomi Mi11 Pro...

Lol, oh dear my fine sir. If you just read like two of the posts on the main XDA page for the S21U, then you'd have the answer without needing to post a question.
So I'll dumb it down a tiny bit for you:
The answer is NO. You will not be able to unlock the bootloader of any S21 variant purchased in North America. This has been the case since some time in March if you purchased the phone then or later. Granted, if you purchased the phone before March (and hadn't updated it in the past two months), then you would've been able to pay a few different people around $125 to unlock your bootloader. You just wouldn't be able to flash newer, official updates anymore as they'd relock your bootloader permanently.
But if you buy the phone now, it'll come with a potentially permanently locked bootloader. I say "potentially" because someone might eventually find a way to unlock these updated bootloaders with another token method or something similar.
So it looks like it's Xiaomi for you!
Post Comment - But if you just need the phone to take good pictures, then a bootloader locked S21U will still do the job. My phone is currently in the same state lol. But hey, also feel free to PM me and let me know if you need me to take any flower pictures for you. Cannabis is indeed legal where I am now and so I would flourish in this type of work (as I also love cannabis), haha.

I have an old Galaxy Note 3. I'm in the USA on Verizon. I've been drooling over the Honor Note 8 since I first heard of it. It's exactly what I want. I cannot get a straight answer online on several questions.
1. Will it work now on Verizon? Most say no, some say yes.
2. Will it come to the USA soon? Again, I'm getting different answers on this.
3. Are there 'tricks' I can learn to force this phone to work well on Verizon now very well, or should I just wait?
I'd prefer to stay on Verizon, but I'd switch to AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile if I have to in order to use this phone.
I'm not a tech wiz, so I'll need some help here. If you can answer my questions and guide me, I'd sure appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Proud Owner of the Huawei Honor Note 8
Hi All,
So having lived in China for a while and having owned and used Huawei phones in the past (my last Huawei Phone was the massive Mediapad X1), I can testify to the quality and advantages of huawei smartphones.
First, I've had this phone for about a week. I ordered it off of aliexpress. I'm pretty familiar with making purchases from chinese websites and getting technical support from chinese companies and sources so i was pretty confident with making this purchase (I can read/write mandarin). Phone arrived super fast and I was happy with the purchase.
Right now I'm working really hard to root my device. I have already unlocked the bootloader using the dc-unlocker method and it worked perfectly (btw, its cheaper to download the app and pay only 1 usd instead of 4 euros). I'm literally scouring the internet and all the chinese websites for news on different roms, but very little luck thus far. I have downloaded some different versions of the operating system (ver. B017 only, as B018, B019, and B020 are not yet available as far as I've seen) but these versions are not boot versions. So no luck there.
I've also spoken directly with Huawei regarding when they will release the updated factory versions of the operating system for download from the EMUI website. There is no confirmation that they will even release them however, as the answer I received was that Huawei wants to move to a system in which all updates are OTA. I was a bit upset to say the least but we'll see what happens in the future.
For now just enjoying this awesome phone. feel free to ask me any questions.

Helllo,
I have two questions:
1. What's the audio output like through the headphone 3.5mm jack?
2. What's the camera like?

Helllo,
I have two questions:
1. What's the audio output like through the headphone 3.5mm jack?
2. What's the camera like?

To answer your questions:
1. The audio output is excellent. Crisp with perfect amount (not too much I hate that) of base. The volume goes loud enough (using the jack) to hurt my ears, and that's hard to do.
2. The cameras on Huawei phones are usually very good to excellent. This particular phone does not sport Huawei's top camera (I think that might be the Huawei P9 plus or the Mate 8. But again, those phones are much smaller and focus on high quality cameras. This phone's advantages are its size, screen quality, CPU and memory. The camera is very good but definitely not top top quality. It doesn't focus instantaneously for example like some galaxy cameras, but I think it's good enough. I'm not THAT into photography.
3. ALSO**** just so everyone knows, I bought this phone because I wanted to use the latest CAT6 4G LTE speeds in Brazil (where I currently reside) and in China. I'm American though btw. The version I bought in its current form from China does NOT support the LTE bands commonly used by AT&T. Its bands are (1,3,7,38,39,40,and 41). Thus, 3G is the fastest speeds you would get in the US with AT&T. But it will be 4G in Europe, South America and China. If the phone is sold in the US market, Huawei changes the LTE bands to suit the target country's market, so I'm sure the bands for any US or International version of the phone will have different bands.

Some corrections/clarifications to what Racerdude and toasty32 said. First, no one will be able to answer questions about Verizon, because Honor did not announce this phone for US market yet, and it also did not pass through FCC certification. Having said that - most likely the answer is No, it will not work on Verizon. Typically, what Huawei, ZTE and other Chinese manufacturers do when they bring phones to North American market - they don't strike a deal with carriers and they don't release carrier branded phones, like Samsung, Apple, LG and others do. If you want to take past behavior of Chinese manufacturers as an indication what Honor will do - they will just release GSM only (no CDMA, hence no Verizon or Sprint) US version of Note 8, with all North American LTE bands enabled, and let people decide whichever GSM carrier they want to use it with. Honor just did this exact thing with Honor 8 phone in US a couple of weeks ago.
What toasty32 said about this Chinese version working in Europe and South America is not completely true - this Chinese EDI-AL10 version has only one overlapping TDD-LTE band 38 with some of South American carriers (most don't use it), and some European countries support LTE bands 3,38,40 so in some Euro regions 4G will be spotty at best, and in many places won't work at all. Here is the list of operating LTE frequencies by country and carrier
US T-Mobile requires LTE bands 2,4,12 (and optional band 17 used by AT&T because FCC requires them to support roaming)
US AT&T requires LTE bands 2,4,5,17 (and optional band 12 used by T-Mobile because FCC requires them to support roaming)

I've used dc-unlocker before and had to pay 4 euros to read bootloader code. Do you mind explaining what you meant by this, what app are you talking about and how to pay only $1 USD instead, to unlock bootloader?

i've done some research into this and followed up with some other threads with people who bought the phone. Forget the different phone frequency websites, this phone will not get you what you want in the US. No LTE. Some carriers like tmo will get you 3g/3.5g hspa+ but that's the best you'll get and not a smart move. I'm also desperately waiting some any big phone to come with US compatible bands but as it seems now, we're still waiting..
Hi everyone, i write from Italy.
I always loved big smartphones and this would be one of the best right now.
Unfortunately, i think that Honor won't bring in Europe.
I talked to their FB page, and they wrote me :
"Hi Marco, we don't have official news to launch the honor note 8 in Europe. If we have any plans, we will announce at once on our page, thank you - If you buy it from China, Well.. Then the warranty and post-sale service would not apply elsewhere but China" .
I'm a bit disappointed actually, i really don't understand why this amazing phon is sold just in China and they said " We don't know either" ... GOOD
Guys, on the web i saw that the camera sensor is the Sony Imx 278. (Same of P8/Mate S/G8) ...i'm a bit disappointed because i didn't love this camera sensor in the past...what do you think ?
Can you guys update from which seller in Aliexpress you bought from?
I paid for the phone last week and it has been 7 days but no update from the seller. Today I cancelled the order but Aliexpress have rejected it stating Seller has the phone in stock and order cannot be cancelled. The sad thing is Seller is not responding has 40 days (33 now) to ship the order (I did not see this while ordering). I ordered because seller was the Highest/most reputed seller while sorting and had DHL shipping. Any ways to resolve?

Edit: Avoid this seller at all costs!

I'd tell Aliexpress to F*** OFF and do a chargeback with your credit card company. People should be allowed to cancel orders, for items which havent shipped, at any time. I'd also recommend to never buy from that marketplace again. Use places like Amazon, or at least eBay, where things are controlled more tightly and these US headquartered businesses will not screw you over without explanation.
My experience with AliExpress and UPDATE on ROOTING
Hi All,
So to answer the question regarding Aliexpress....I purchased from this store/seller here:
.aliexpress.com/store/1802347?spm=2114.13010608.0.126.x0uHsw
and in particular, this product:
.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Huawei-Honor-Note-8-4G-LTE-Mobile-Phone-Kirin-955-Octa-Core-6-6-2K/32714180113.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.129.x0uHsw
I used singapore expedited shipping (super cheap) as it was one of the few options I could use to get expedited shipping to the US considering there was a lithium ion battery being shipped internationally.
I cannot stress how pleased I was with both the seller and the service. I understand that Aliexpress may have a bad reputation because it is a foreign/chinese website and doing business internationally is almost always more difficult that doing business domestically, but that being said, I do want to be fair, and when I do have a good experience, I'll promote it. Like any mass seller website ebay or otherwise there are going to be good merchants and bad ones. Luckily I found a good one.
cheers,
chris
UPDATE:
I was able to finally root this phone with the help of some Chinese programmers (from bbs.xxroot.com <--- the Chinese equivalent of xda developers haha). More details to come.

Just wanted to point out that Aliexpress has bad reputation not because it is a foreign/chinese website, but because that reputation is well deserved. I personally got scammed for over $300 by that site years ago, and I personally know several people, who got screwed as well. Also, if you do a bit of internet research then like you said - you will discover that marketplace has a bad reputation, and for a good reason - there are plenty of people's testimonies of fraud. Aliexpress is nothing like eBay - scam/fraud rate is orders of magnitude higher.
If you want to take the time and post the root guide for the rooting method you used - I'm sure it'd be much appreciated by a lot of people here, who have or plan to buy this phone. Also, you didn't answer my question from earlier post about how to avoid paying 4 euros to dc-unlocker for unlocking the bootloader.
How can Honor put the same camera of Huawei P8 (Just sufficient) in a phablet with 4gb of Ram DDR4, Kirin 955, QHD Screen....c'mon..

Damn. That was my preferred seller. While ordering, it showed processing time of 5 days, so decided to skip it and went with the Highest rated seller (Who has/d not mentioned processing time in the listing) and whose feedback was filled with positive reviews about quick shipping.

Have purchased more than 75 times from AliExpress (atleast 20 expensive items) and this has been my WORST experience for me. Everytime, Orders were shipped either next day or 2 days after and I generally order expensive items thru DHL/Fedex and have had it with me within 10 days. On the contrary, had very bad experience with ebay- both as seller & buyer- and have completely stopped using it (Lost close to $1200 while selling).
Order Update: Seller has mailed me apologising for delay and stating he will ship ' asap' but Still no commitment- (He replied after I bombarded him with messages)
@chris- Do update with the root method. Am so happy that it has been rooted as one of the reasons I tried cancelling the phone (other than obvious delay) was that you mentioning no root and someone mentioning about it not being launched in Europe

This sounds a lot like Aliexpress advertisement. I bet it's because you sell there yourself, and want people to use it. I'm glad it allegedly works fine for you, but I myself and a lot of people I know would never go near it. Regardless, this is kind of off topic stuff, not related to Honor Note 8, so I suggest we move on.
If anyone can post a root method, or free/chip bootloader unlock method - that'd be very much appreciated. And if someone car figure out a way to mod NVRAM and unlock additional LTE bands in this Kirin955 chipset - that'd be a home-run!

So it sounds like it's been a while since you've actually used AliExpress. If that's true, than I have to say that it has changed and improved a LOT from 5 or even two years ago (not perfect of course). I hate to sound like an advertisement as well though but I do want to be fair. I think you should probably try it again to see for yourself because you're missing out on a lot. But your decision.
In regards to unlocking the bootloader: A little while ago DC-unlocker had a promotion on their website because they had just released their android app on the play store (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dc.huaweibootloadercodes) and I remember seeing that there was a discount in prices for people who used the app. I took the bait, clicked the link and downloaded the app. Opening up the app on my phone I saw that there was the option to purchase a DC-unlocker account directly for $0.99. This as opposed to buying credits directly from their site. I purchased it and it worked. You guys should definitely try it.
Finally, it cost me a bit to finalize the rooting of my phone (50-100 RMB) especially because I downloaded some software tools from bbs.xxroot.com that they developed to unroot it. Also, it took a LOT of conversations (in mandarin haha) and several painful mistakes to figure out how the hell to root my phone. I am going to describe in a future post exactly what I did in detail but I'm not sure how much it will help people. I'll keep everyone posted.
cheers,
chris
P.S. please click thanks if you guys find my posts helpful! thanks.
So I'm pretty sure I'm hated at bbs.xxroot.com right now. But I succeeded....
check it out --> drive.google.com/file/d/0By2RD6aSQhsNb1NqRnFEd2VMcDA/view?usp=sharing
gonna work on trying to unlock additional LTE bands (if possible).
cheers,
chris

Are you going to buy?

I have the SGS8+ but may buy the Note 8 IF the specs are updated. I would guess in this country the cost will be over 1k€ The S8+ is 920.00€ and the Note edition has always been more expensive. Even I as a tech junkie have to question spending that sort of cash on a mobile phone. Lets see what we get.

Looking for advise. I want the new note 8. Currently i am on sprint but not under contract. Was thinking of going somewhere else cheaper.
How would i buy a note 8 that i c as n choose after the fact which carrier i want to use?
Or should i find out what carriers will sell it and pick from those.
Was thinking about a lower cost but still sprint towers carrier

The FCC filing shows one carrier version for all four US carriers, one (carrier) unlocked version which presumably could be used on all four carriers, and the international version. Chances are your best bet is going to be the unlocked version if you don't care about root. Keep in mind both it and the carrier version will almost certainly be bootloader locked with only the international unlockable and rootable. This is where all the development effort will take place, on the international version.

Bootloader locked. . When did that happen. No root seriously... can the international version be bought and used in the us? This is bad. Was the note 7 bootloader locked?

They started with the S7, it was the same for the note 7 at which time Samsung stated publicly that it would be their policy going forward for the foreseeable future. The S8 followed suit and there is no reason not to think the Note 8 will be more of the same. Essentially they have one North American version which is used across the US, Canada, and some South American countries. This version has the SD chipset and the bootloader cant be unlocked. Most of the rest of the world gets the Exynos chipset in their "international" version, that one has been shipping with a bootloader that can be unlocked at least up to the S8 and S8+. As I said I've seen nothing which indicates Samsung is going to change their policies with the Note 8 so I would expect more of the same.
You can use international phones in the US, I've been doing it for a long time to get dual SIM capability and later because I'm root or die. You have to pay attention to which freqs you need for your intended carrier and which freqs the phone you are buying supports. I had the international Note 7 in the US on Tmo and it worked fine. We'll need to wait for the embargo to lift (or a leak) to get the freqs on the Note 8 and see what we may or may not be giving up with the UK version for example. Speaking of which you can buy these phones from Clove, Handtec, etc. If you decide to go that route be sure and use a reputable UK seller, fulfilled by Amazon, etc because the phone is going to come without warranty or without a warranty that can be acted on quickly. I would recommend not using Ebay, a lot of those guys were up a creek when the Note 7 went to hell, I called amazon and got mine taken care of in about ten minutes.
There are some exceptions... As an example if you're really into sleathing the Note 7 sent a SD variant that was unlocked someplace, cant remember now but I want to say Hong Kong, maybe someone else will remember. These niche releases can work well but you have to be careful and make sure it's going to work for you if you decide to hunt one down. Also happening during the Note 7 release is someone got a hold of some engineering firmware and a few were able to root their phones with it but if I recall right they were not able to unlock and install TWRP. This was fixed in a patch and it stopped working right around the first recall. The lesson is while something may happen to get root on the SD devices you cant count on it, you should only buy in there if you're willing to have a phone that may never get unlocked or will not be unlocked any time soon.
The root achieved on The snap S7 and note was total crap...unstable, laggy and just generally useless.
And no custom recovery, no roms, no kernels.
It was also patched very quickly and thats why the s8 is not rooted yet.
The HK S8 is snap and just now got twrp but development will be next to none because most buy the exynos.
In short DO NOT buy any north amercian note 8, its locked down tighter than a drum and is a complete waste of money....if root etc matters to you.
Go exynos or go home lol.

I'm being a little stupid here but I was looking forward to getting a note 8 in blue coral since I gave up my note 7. I'm a little disappointed if they don't release it in that color. The dark blue has been around on previous samsungs and was never a fan of it. I know the colors aren't official but look to be the final.

So i guess i need to figure this out.
If i buy non international it will be locked down. No root no twrp no fun.
If i buy international what do i need to do.
If i buy an international phone can i get that from amazon? Just making sure what i buy matches the carrier i want to use it on?
Will i have to wait or will i be able to get one on release?
I really need a new phone my note 4 is way past its prime.. (screen us cracked. . Im one of THOSE ppl ha ha ha) . Returning my note 7 was the hardest thing i had to do in a long time. Been struggling ever since waiting fir the note 8. Had NO IDEA Sammy did this locking bootloader.
Maybe ill have to suck it up and have a non rooted phone (can't believe i am even saying that). Gotta decide which is more important. .
Thanks fir your help.

We need more information. Before long there will be threads about which phones will work and where they work. There will also be several shopping threads soon after the unveiling. Like all of us you've little choice other than to wait it out for now.
I miss rooting and flashing on my old notes. I have an S7e currently. I was thinking about getting a note FE but I'm not sure how it would work here in the states on TMO either. I'm also not sure how hard it would be to get cases, screen protectors etc. I know it comes with a case but I don't care for it that much. I do still have an old note 7 spigen case. I'm also not sure how many updates the phone will get either(talking about OS updates not security). As far as rooting, it was really fun but since having the s7E I really don't need to root and change much. Sammy has a done a decent job on customizing over the past 2 years. plus I'm sure you can do some ADB tweaking mod. I have on my s7e and have been happy with that. the only thing I really wish I could change is the infinite scrolling on the home screen. I know you can change launchers but I have grown to like the TW launchers.
The physical dimensions are the same across all the phones so cases are not an issue. If you root it and install TWRP you can install each update as they are released with the inevitable flashable zip. If you're on a ROM you can usually expect that ROM to be updated. If you stay stock you will get over the air. These things often happen more quickly than the carriers push updates. The only real issue you have with international phones is their ability to cover your carriers freqs and warranty. I fully expect this phone to work on TMO but how well can't be known until we get the freqs. Depending on where you buy you will have no warranty or may have no warranty. Buy from a reputable place and they'll RMA a DOA or damaged phone at purchase. After that you may have no warranty or have to ship to the seller so they can return it.
Importing internationals are probably not a good idea for those who are risk adverse or will use the last two pennies they possess buying in. On the other hand if you've got a backup in the drawer and want root you don't have much to lose as long as you do your homework.
lets hope it doesnt have last years note 7 issue. I loved my note 7. best phone Ive had
Yeah, the N7 was more than the sum of it's parts. I'm fairly optimistic about the N8, I dislike rear scanners and the placement of this one is particularly bad but other than that I'm fine with it across the board. The One+ 3 I purchased when I sent the N7 back has been a good phone and I've no gripes with it but it's no Note. The S-Pen is big bonus for me when in the field and Samsung has some stuff right in their GUI nowadays. I like the native dialer and it's ability to scan business cards straight to contacts, the Note functionality S-Pen combo is great as long as you're willing to go with Sammy's note app, etc. My N7 was smooth as could be once I rooted and debloated it and I'm expecting the same here. I'm looking forward to this one...
I will be pre-ordering the day you're able. I had both Note 7's and have had a void ever since giving it up. Was on Sprint last year and switched to the S7 edge and still wasn't as great as the Note 7. Since then I've switched to Verizon and gave up my S7 edge for the LG V20 and will gladly give up the V20 for the Note 8. Can't wait!!! ?
Sent from my VS995 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes. Black. I'm going to pre-order as soon as I can. I've had my Note 4 for too long.
oh hell yes.
I loved my Note 7, I didn't want to give it away.
I'm tired of this note 5 I want the new one.
The only 2 concerns I have are the price (as I buy outright) and the "tallness" of it. I'm a biggish guy with large hands (think Lana monster truck sized hands), but the one complaint I had about the Note 7 was it was just a little bit too tall/long... The leaks make it look like this one is going to be even longer 0.o
I will pre-order the note 8 as long as they have a color I like available. if not I will wait as much as I don't want to. Worse case I will get black which isn't all that bad, the screens will more than likely be all black anyway like the s8. I originally bought a silver note 7 last year thinking I would love it. I didn't and got a blue coral after the first recall. The Note FE is just to much money to have imported for a DATED phone IMO. From what I'm reading about them, they are carrier unlocked but do not have the bootloader unlocked. just to many negatives and to expensive to attempt. hopefully the deep blue looks better then the renders or hopefully gets released in orchid grey or blue coral. gold is to GOTTI and black is to plain.

Explorer Edition - does it actually exist....?

Its been a fair amount of time since the 'regular' Mi 8 launched. Does anyone on this forum have an Explorer Edition? I've not seen a single place that has stock (just pre-orders and no idea when they might be shipped). It would seem odd to have such a big lag between the two editions, particularly if people are paying top price for something that's bleeding edge technology (and the risk of it being less and less so as other new products get launched). Anyone know anything about the Explorer?

I could be wrong but I have a vague memory reading that it would be 1000 EE phones at launch then rest would come at a later date and last global firmware got EE support so I would say it's gearing up for release anytime now. Though it seems EE has smaller battery than standard and in screen fingerprint reader as real differences.
It exists, check on youtube.
Local resellers here in the Philippines already have it.
Does anyone know when it will be available to ship wide world ? Mi Max 3 will appear soon, and still no info about Mi8 EE...
I just got one from Trading Shenzen, it wasn't cheap and so far I'm happy with my purchase. Only gripe I have so far with the phone is the inability to install Netflix on the phone since it comes with the Chinese rom. It took me a couple attempts but I finally got Google Play installed also. All I need now is to find a retailer that sells a decent tempered glass screen protector that won't take forever and a day to ship it to me.

Question Samsung S21 Ultra bought from the USA - help/advice needed

Hi folks , I bought this Samsung S21 Ultra from EBay US ( I wanted the snapdragon version). I’m confused as to the message that I am receiving . I have checked Swappa, checkmend and it is a perfectly clean phone with no issues or anything outstanding . So why would it present me this message ? I’ve been on chat with Xfinity live agent , who have said they can’t just unlock it from the IMEI but they need the account number that it was purchased , the sim/number used associated with the account in order to submit an unlock request . (Person who sell it to me is just a general reseller) . The phone is not stolen or has outstanding finance , so why would it present this issue .
I can’t provide the agent with the details as o don’t have them and I can’t get them . Do I have any options here at all ?
You need to contact the seller through ebay and file dispute immediately. The phone is carrier locked. Meaning they have a balance due on the phone or they were to lazy to call xfinity and ask for it to be unlocked or couldn't show proof of purchase. Either way, the phone is useless until xfinity unlocks it.
Return it.
You can't do anything with it
Simply raise dispute with eBay and get refund.
You can unlock it with third larty but phone will miss some features if unlocked this way it will coat 120$
That's just one of the risks associated with purchasing a used device. Disputing it with Ebay or PayPal is the best option at this point.

Indeed. I don't like ebay.
A lot of scamming going on in general now.
Best to talk to the vendor on the phone before buying. Ask the right questions and feel them out. Avoid vendors that won't talk by phone.
I paid $800 for a new N10+ Snapdragon 3 weeks ago. Sounds high, but it was a factory sealed box and the 10+ that was in perfect condition. It was worth the extra $200-400. The vendor was easy to contact and seemed trustworthy. The phone arrived 3 days after ordered, free shipping, shipped day of order. Good to their word.

I chekced on SWAPPA and CHeckmend but there wasnt anything that showed as any finance owed or any blacklisting or sorts. Im not sure if i have grounds to raise a dispute as the seller said it would only work on xfinity .,Is there anything whatsoever i can do , via rooting etc ?

If bought with a card, call the bank and file a charge back request. The phone must be returned before they can do anything.
If things really go south file a complaint with your state attorney general's office.
That sounds like theft by wire fraud to me, a felony.

Question Pixel trade in values

Does anyone remember what Google was giving for the Pixel 6 when the Pixel 7 came out?
It's at a steal @ $449 right now.... actually the same price as the Pixel 6a which is just.. odd I guess. I wonder if they didn't sell as many P7 as they thought?
Anyway, I'm considering buying a 2nd Pixel 7 just to hold onto and trade in for the Pixel 8.
If they offer even $500 I'd consider it worth it..
I do like having a backup device and I really like the Pixel 7.
Maybe I'll wait for the P7a to come out and just see what the price is sitting at then.
I have to admit too that the P7a looks pretty sick even if they are bumping it up $50. Consider it a $50 90Hz charge I guess.
But any info is appreciated.
One more question.
So I have a BEAT up Pixel 5.. like smashed to ****, camera glass is completely off.
However it turns on and works despite all that..
Google is offering $230 for the P5 in this "condition" -- but it only asks 2 questions which is kind of surprising, or on purpose.
Free of cracks -no
Turn on - yes
Can I hear some experiences with the Google trade-ins please by those who've gone this route.
Personally, if they decide it's not worth anymore than say.. idk $150 (OR LESS!), that sucks.
And from what I've read, they will give you Google credit if you cancel, which I think I woud.
Would this credit be able to be used for a device in the future, or is it stuck for apps and games.
Thank you again. Why sit on a beat up P5, if I can get a P7 for around $220... If everything goes according to plan.
I traded in my P6 to Google for a credit of $479 and grabbed a P7 for $499. It's a simple process, really. They'll send you a box, you send your old phone back, they take a look at it, and either give you a credit or a refund to your bank account (they gave me a choice at the time) for the amount they determine. It took about 7-10 days as a transaction.
I believe the credit can be used for a device purchase from their store, apps, or games. As long as you're giving them your $ somehow, that's all they really care about.
*Crafty thinking about stockpiling the P7 for an 8 upgrade

Let's try to bump this thread a bit. The P7P has its own thread about upgrading to the p8p. So yes if they give me a good deal on the P8 like they did*for* the P7 trade-in then for sure the P8 will be pre-ordered. Especially if the size is 6.1 as reported. I actually forgot exactly what I got for it but I don't think I paid more than 200 and possible less after trade-in. Sending it back was painless and I got my credit within a week. Plus I got another 100 for my friend buying one albeit on the Google store for whatever. And my wife got one too for her P5 which I'm sure she'll want to trade-in as well since it's a little big for her.
might not be directly relevant to you but I just ordered pixel 7 in UK on the following terms:
-phone costs £550;
-iphone 13 trade in valued at £580.
so I should be getting a refund of £30 in the form of store credit which looks like a great deal.
I was a little apprehensive about dealing with Google because they can have - to be polite - not the greatest customer service if you have a technical issue (Google Fi issues in the past, don't get me started...arrrrgh...t-mobile to the rescue) But the trade in process was easy and I have no complaints.
Love my p7 - it's my best phone since my Galaxy Nexus from back in the day of the swappable battery. I know there are better phones out there, but for the price you can't beat the p7 & hopefully the p8 is better.
They are on the right path, and as long as Google doesn't "Google" (aka, ditch a good product before it's had time to mature and gain market share) they can achieve the success they've been looking for with their Pixel lineup. The G3 chip or even G4 chip can be a game changer for them, but they have to keep the investment $ coming in. You have to spend $ to make $, but as of now they will be getting my $ because I like what I'm getting.

Kind of veering off topic a bit but we can keep the thread going since the 7a is coming out tomorrow and the P8 probably in October. I agree the P7 is the best I've had since probably the P5 and before that the 5X or Nexus OG. So I'll keep it if the P8 doesn't give the discount that the P7 did. I think I paid $100 after trade-in on my P6a. So if the 8 is smaller or even close to my P5 I'm all in. If it's the same size as the 7 I'll wait until they make me a deal I can't refuse.
As for Fi, that was a disaster albeit a good idea that never materialized. The support was non existent and now they can't even get the eSim working reliably without trashing the EID on the phone requiring a replacement. Ahh.. the replaceable battery, the good ol' days. But not waterproof so there's that too. The trade-in for both the P6a and the P5 (wife) to the P7 was flawless for me too.
