Question Tasker schedule baised on wifi - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Good evening, I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I have used this tasker schedule to keep my calling preference to WiFi preferred. https://www.grecobon.com/2021/01/unlocked-galaxy-s20-wifi-calling-issues/
My question is how do I set it to only run when I'm connected to my home wifi. If I'm posting in the wrong area I apologize.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Found the answer if anyone runs into the issue! https://android.stackexchange.com/q...to-do-stuff-if-specific-wifi-network-is-in-ra

that's my blog, glad you figured out your issue! sorry i didn't see this sooner or i would have helped...i'll go ahead and update my post with details on how to set it up for only certain wifi networks.

WiFi Connection Question!

Sorry if this has been answered but i did a search and came up with nothing so i hope someone here can help me out.
I was wondering if there is a way for when my tilt goes on standby to keep the WiFi connection still on. Cause i see when i take it off standby the WiFi connection starts trying to connect instead of still being connected.
So just wondering if there is a way to keep it on all the time!
Thanks in advance.
see if this helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2602535
btw, keeping wifi on all the time would drain your battery out really really fast
the reason i want the wifi on when its on standby is i want it to continue checking my gmail and also i would like to keep my messenger on instead of it signing off when im on stand by cause the wifi isnt connected.

Download Kaiser tweaks, among other very useful tweaks, it has wifi standby mode. Which keeps wifi on in standby.

Wifi Issue?

Hi all, happy Friday! I searched for my paticular issue but couldn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or something similar. What happens is my revo isn't automatically reconnecting to wifi when i go out of range and then back in. I will notice it's using data (4G or 3G) and when i go to wifi settings the wifi network says disabled and i have to go to it and hit connect. What's more weird is it's doing this with the wifi at work but not at home. It's not an issue with the wifi at work though because other people here have androids, iphones and blackberrys and don't have the issue. The phone has done this since i got it. I've looked at the wifi sleep setting and made sure it is set to never to rule that out. I've done several powerdowns and battery pulls since i got it also. Anyhow just wondering if anyone has heard of this. Thank you and sorry for the length of my post.
That happens on my phone as well, but will reconnect to my home network after the screen is on for a few seconds

I don't have that issue but I always turn my wifi off when I'm not using it. Better battery life plus no issues
Yeeup, I've had that exact issue on this phone from day 1. Some may not consider it a big deal, but it's actually one of my biggest pet peeves about the phone. I was hoping the V6 software update back in August would contain a fix for it, but I didn't notice a change.

While that's a valid workaround, and i'd love to do that, it's not an option for me. I have the lowest data plan you can have on a smartphone (2gb), so i have to be on wifi whenever it's available so as not to go over usage. What's odd though is the phone only seems to do this with the wireless at work. I even went somewhere this past weekend that i haven't been in a while and the phone remembered and connected right up to the wifi there. Other smartphones at work don't behave this way with the wireless at work though. I'll just have to live with it, i'm used to it now anyway. Just have to remember everytime or i'll be using up my precious data. I'm wondering if the update to gingerbread (if our revo ever get it) will do anything with this issue.
What type of security is implemented at your work? I know there is a very common problem with PEAP and MSCHAPV2 authentication and FROYO. I can connect, but as soon as I change to another antenna, I get disconnected. It is the only reason I know I want Gingerbread. It was supposed to be fixed in Gingerbread.

Good question gig, work has 2 networks. One uses PEAP and the other is for guest internet access, i have it on the guest. I gather from what you've said it wouldn't help any to try this issue on the main PEAP network.
I have an update on my issue. I was at lunch yesterday and trying to connect to the free wifi there and noticed that the wifi network at work that's been giving me problems was on the list of remembered networks twice! I have no clue how this happened (in troubleshooting i always hit forget). I didn't even know it was possible for any device to have duplicate entries of wifi networks. I deleted one of them and it seems to have worked (so far). Some other people replied saying they were having my issue too, so i wanted to update this thread in case it would fix their issue too.

wifi off when there is no wifi around, or wifi is disconnected

im usuing tasker 5.0b5, and am wondering if anyone could help with a profile that will turn off wifi completely when there isnt any wifi around or when wifil has been disconnected. and also hoping a task with this profile to turn wifi back on when wifi is visible again. i seen a few tutorials and youtube vids on how to do this, but they were in reference to older tasker versions. can anyone help? thanks
I use these 3 profiles to basically do what your asking. You will have to change the profile with cell near to what ever cell towers are near you.
Let me know if you have any questions

Do I link these profiles or run them all seperate?
This is what I have set up from the xml you sent me
Or like this?
Do these profiles supposed to turn WiFi off? As in, turning it off in settings too? I tried these and it don't work that way. I did change cell near as you suggested.

Yes use all 3 at same time, make sure your variables are getting set. The one profile sets wifilocation variable when your near your cell towers, then the second one will see that wifilocation is set and activate causing it to turn on wifi and wait for 20 sec and if its not connected will turn wifi off. you may need a profile that turns wifi off when screen is off or go into wifi settings on phone and set it to not stay on when screen is off. Also you may need to turn on cell workaround and/or use new cell api under taskers preference depending on the model of your phone. You may not need the If WiFi connected profile, I think I used that for another project.

Honestly this is a complicated way of doing something very simple.
The most accurate and low battery way to accomplish this is to have 1 profile with a state context of "cell near" and set it to scan while you walk around your house for 5 min and then set it down and let it scan for another 10 min. (This ensues all available cell towers in your area are accounted for) and make tier entry task enable wifi. So when you're close to home, tasker will enable WiFi and Android will handle reconnecting.
In the exit task,Turn wifi off so whenever you leave your area WiFi will be deactivated and you are using nearly 0% battery to achieve it

Yeah. I have already used that task before. The cell near profile. I just want a profile that turns WiFi off completely when I'm not connected to any WiFi.

How about a wait time, then afterwards switch wifi off if not connected?

Ok then the best thing to do is create a profile event context of WiFi disconnected and make the entry task merely set a variable %WIFITIMER to %TIMES+120
then create another profile with a time context and set if to activate on %WIFITIMER (which would be set for 120 seconds after the WiFi disconnected and make the entry task WiFi disable
Then create one more profile with an event context of WIFI CONNECTED and set the entry task to clear the Wi-Fi timer. This will ensure that if the Wi-Fi reconnects, the Wi-Fi disable profile won't be able to activate because the time will never be Null
The logic is: if the Wi-Fitimer is set then when the current time matches it, disable the Wi-Fi, but if it reconnects, the timer is disabled.
Edit
The benefits of these profiles is more than merely an elegant approach, but also the least battery impacting method to have Tasker wait until a certain time to do something. Using wait actions inside tasks might be one of the worst things for battery life

Bad wifi calling

So I am on t-mobile, and I also have one of the routers provided to me by t-mobile (I believe it's an Asus) , and I have noticed recently that my wifi calling has been sucking big time. It cuts in and out and says I need to connect to a wifi network, when I am connected. It's like it doesn't notice that there is a wifi connection. Anyone have suggestions as to what might help?
I would ask in the tmobile sub forum, they may have better input there. I'm still trying to graft this feature into the Korean Note 8 firmware so can't offer much help sorry!
It's been a while since I've used xda, and I didn't know there was a sub forum now. Thanks for the heads up.

Pixel 5 wi-fi calling on 3UK

Hi,
I'm seriously considering getting a good refurbished Pixel 5, but I would like to know if it's possible to set wi-fi calling preferences on 3UK.
To explain, I live in an area with very spotty cellular coverage so WiFi calling is a must have, but unless I can set the phone to prefer WiFi calling over cellular calling, I have to put my phone into airplane mode in my house because there is just enough cellular signal strength to prevent the phone from automatically using wi-fi for calls. Failure to use airplane mode results in many dropped calls because the signal isn't strong enough to support the call.
Any assistance gratefully received.
Thanks

So it's possible to set the preferences to use Wi-fi calling whenever there's a wi-fi connection, even if there's a weak cellular signal?
This is on the UK 3 network?
Thanks

It'll give you the option whether there's WiFi or not. It's either on or off.
Yes, 3uk
Thanks, but I don't think I explained my question very well.
What I'm wondering is, when you turn wi-fi calling on, is there another setting to prefer calling via wi-fi, or calling via cellular?
Cheers for your help.

I know this may not be what you're looking for but it may help..
I am on Pixel 5 Android 12L stock ROM
When turning WIFI Calling on, you get this menu option.
I'm imagining if have WIFI Calling options, then the menus would be the same, being the same phone/firmware.
But I obviously can't confirm.
Thanks!
That's exactly what I was looking for.
Which network are you on?

Just a shot in the dark, but changing your default language to US English might work. Here in Canada I had to do that to get "Hold for Me" working

Thanks for the suggestion but I think the availability of the wi-fi calling preferences options are based on the mobile network.
I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S20FE because it has Bixby Routines, which lets me disable the cellular radios when the phone connects to my home WiFi network. Obviously, this isn't as elegant as allowing me to set a wi-fi calling preference.
The point is that this is a dual SIM phone - I've noticed that it offers wi-fi calling preferences for my O2 UK SIM but not for my 3UK SIM.
I don't think I'm going to get any luck with this unless I change network.
Thanks to all for your assistance.

Very interesting.
Now I don't use it, I should start looking into it, but I just don't have any uses off the top of my head, like what I foresee could work to your advantage.
Instead of Bixby, why not give tasker a try? It should be able to allow you to do what Bixby does and probably more.
You should def. be able to set up a Tasker "Routine" that allow you to disable the cellular radio when you connect to WIFI network, and maybe even a Tasker for setting the WIFI calling preference?
I wish you the best of luck with everything!

I actually tried Tasker first (I've used it many times over the years) but it isn't able to toggle Airplane mode without having to either root the phone or grant specific permissions via ADB (each time the phone is rebooted).
In case you are wondering, I have configured Airplane mode to leave WiFi and Bluetooth untouched, so it actually only toggles the cellular radio on and off.
Since Bixby Routines are "baked in" on Galaxy devices, it has no restrictions on setting Airplane mode on/off. Obviously, this solution is only available on Galaxy devices, which is why I'm using this S20FE 5G as my daily driver at the moment.
With any other devices, I have to remember to turn airplane mode on when I'm at home to force wi-fi calling. The problem is that I often forget to turn airplane mode off again when I'm out and about.
Thanks again to everyone for your help and suggestions.
