You are making me worried

Until now it's all hearsay, I haven't really seen any proof that Mi 11 devices are actually having these issues.
That being said, it's natural for some devices to have issues. This happens with literally every model of every brand. That's why warranties were created in the first place, otherwise if all devices were perfect, warranties would be useless.
I've had mine for about 2 months and never had any overheating issues. Not even while gaming. The only time I felt it hot in my hand was when running a few Antutu benchmarks back to back.

Agreed, not a problem for me either being using it since January, especially on the new MIUI 12.5 update. My Mi 11 feels so much better than ever. Cheers

Europe Croatia... Still waiting for new update.
How is battery with new fw?

My phone just crashed while i was trying to post this
Those are my temps and I'm just uploading an archive on wifi everything is off the sim is set on 2G all low brightness and 60hz
Are these temps normal? It's not the first time it gets hot from uploading or downloading
In normal usage i usually get 5 hours with 50 percent remaining but when I upload or download something it drains from 50 to 25 in 30 minutes wtf

Those temps look normal if you're using it. Uploading big files and using the Wi-Fi hard takes quite a bit of energy and releases quite a bit of heat off the modem.
I've tried to run several speedtests back to back on my Wi-Fi and the phone gets a bit warm to the touch, especially on the top, but I couldn't call it hot, just warm. Temps are similar to yours, up to 50'sC on the CPU and 38 on the battery

My battery is always on 40°c wtf Xiaomi
Even my 845 did better than this phone

I have overheating issues. I'm waiting to send it back to get a new one. One day the phone got suddenly really hot then i shutdown. And then it didn't turn on. Then I plugged it in and the mainboard gets up to 55 Celsius. With some tricks you can turn it on but it only charge with around 450mA with the 55W charger and is still very hot until you disconnect the charger.

This isn't a new issue for Xiaomi. From the mi 10 t/t pro to the poco x3 pro and f3, it seems to interest a wide array of models. If this reassures people at least for the mi 10t/t pro later revisions fixed the issue

Liquid is too hot?

I mean really hot! Normal usage is ok but when I play games or use web browser for half an hour, it turns hot (back and front, lower body). Does anyone have the same problem?
Another thing is the charging time is too long!
Here are the answers from other forum:
Yes the liquid tends to warm up at the lower back half and once that happens, theres no way you can recharge it till it cools down. Feedback from acer engineers theres a temp sensor right behind the battery and if the temp goes above 40c...it'll stop charging. I think that maybe is one of the reason Acer didnt really launch this model worldwide?

Phones with Snapdragon chips in them get warm. The Desire does it; the Nexus does it. I wouldn't worry. My nexus takes about two hours to charger to full.

I have the same problem, its very hot, im worried for the health of cpu and battery..
At least for the charging troubles, using setcpu I defined to run at 500 (around) MHZ when on charge and no overheating then, plugged from evening till morning or using gps for 2,30 hrs with charge connected. It stills warm but no overheating... Tips from EvIl rom, not mine
The lower part is where the CPU is, battery heat would be from the upper back part. Also computer USB charging is slower than wall socket charging.

How much heat normal? And when is it normal?

As i've stated in the Topic , while charging it heats up cools down when full and when i leave it in the phone heats up again. It's shutdown but the region of heatning up isn't the battery its most on the top i think..
Can you share you experience and thoughts of this? I really wanna take care of my new baby
mine goes up to 40°C when I put some real stress on it. Seems to be alright though, didn't have any issues so far.

Overheating

Hi all, i have stock v10b ROM with no ROOT or custom kernel. My mobile is not restarting and its not heating while charging, its heating just when i play for e.g. Dungeon Defenders for 5 minutes. Is it normal ? My phone never restarted yet but i have it jst for 4 days...
No worry, its absolutely fine. Your are not alone. Jonny walker, keep walking.
Even thought the battery caution shows: Do not exceed 40Degree Celsius. Just that you will smell the smell of 'burned' lithium when you open your battery cover.
Wahaha
After my exam, I'm going back to LG with the smell and get a new set perhaps? Hehehe

It depends on what you are talking about.
It is perfectly normal, that electronic compnents produce heat when operating. More work produces more heat. So if you play some graphically intensive games you should expect, that the phone will produce some heat.
Its ok it will heat, but after 5 minutes it is bad, i had overclocked SE X10i played this game for 3 hours and it was cold as ice... :/
That heat come from Camera or near camera my battery always got about 29-36°C
OK, my question is, if i flash undervolt kernel, can it help ? And then , i need to know how to flash back to stock, Is LG updater enough ? Or i need to flash it any special way ? If yes please give me link ^_^
lol 29-36 deg is normal.
my galaxy tab also heats up while charging.
it is normal for phones to heat up when your doing something like browsing and gaming.
and i used to have x10i also. that one has a serious overheating problem. i can't charge it during the day cause it heats up too much, the phone freezes while charging.
i reduced the overheating by using a charger that has less Output voltage;
the one that come with the box has 7+ Voltage output, i am now using a charger that has an output of 5.1V ( i got the 5.1v charger from my optimus one)
i don't know if this can damage your battery but you can also charge on your pc using the usb cable. it charge your phone slow but does not overheat it.

I don't think so it help. Under voltage affect the performance(I assume) too. The heat is not because the 'nvdia' it flaunting its power. Its because of the battery...
All i can hope is the 2.3 update... If nothing changes, i'm gonna sell this on ebay for 100usd... starting bid 1$ ==
But that super heat come from area around Camera, there somewhere suppose to be a processor i think... I think im gonna try this kernel, just need to know how to get it back to stock, so i can use warrancy when needed...
50deg? Im surprised it did not melt your phone. Lol! I have been playing lots of gameloft and tegra exclusive games but mine never overheat beyond 38deg. Use your warranty.

my friends 2x got to around 39 degrees when we were just surfing the net in 3g, thought its about 28 degrees outside as well... you think its normal ?
hes gonna play an HD movie and see if the temp is not too bad later on
LOL anything below 45 degress is fine.
46 above can shorten your battery life.
50 above can damage your battery and your system after prolonged use.
and its perfectly normal for phones to heat up while using 3G.
all my previous phones heat up while on 3G browsing.
Ill try to use my warrancy when ill have time, than ill share my experience , bcuz i bought it from Samsung CZ....
I have tried custom kernel, its still the same but my phone is now laggy at all, when i turn on screedn it takes about 5 seconds, and starting apps is really bad too, please help me how to revert it back to stock...
Over night I left my phone on the loading cable... when I woke up this morning I noticed that my phone was extreeeme hot and had a black screen of death..when I booted up I saw that the clock settings were set up to 1,4ghz although I set it to 1ghz the evening before...I just uninstalled pimp my cpu now and have no overheating issues till now. if i were you (or any1 else to be honest) i would not even try to overclock this phone for 2 simple reasons:
1) as aremcee has said, the hack used to overclock the tegra 2 is just really dirty, he doesnt approove it, and as he is one hell of a smart guy, i have to agree with him.
2) why the hell would you need to overclock it if its already lightning fast. only for benchmark whores imo. i mean this is no optimus one which has a 600 mhz cpu. that one you would like to OC, to see some improovements lol, but not this thing.
I agree, my phone is still fast and i underclocked it on 900MHz but, starting apps , and starting screens takes about 5 seconds, and its pretty much so i all time think about its Dead or Its going to restart, ill try custom rom with underclock. BUT noone said me HOW THE HELL I CAN REVERT BACK TO STOCK KERNEL ? I ask this about 4th time...

Phone heating normal?

Good afternoon all,
I have my Optimus 4x for around 3 days now, the phone is great in general but i noticed when using applications that require more power the phone heats considerably in the part where the LG symbol is located in the back and i think even more in the front where the screen is.
In my case happened with Skype video call (around 20 minutes) and other time playing a game (frontline commando) for 10 minutes, after it becomes normal again, but as i said i think in general when using heavy applications.
Should i worry about this? is this normal? someone else experiencing the same?
As the phone is new i would like to know if is a defect to send it back.
i have software version V10d
Thank you
Its completely normal, the Tegra chipset is just behind the LG logo.
Got to remember there is a quad core and 3d graphics package sat under there
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
How hot does it go anyway? Is it hot enough make you feel very uncomfortable during a call with the phone next to your face?
I have never had it get hot during a call. Only during something like Dead Trigger.
Even then, it's hot but I can still hold the phone. When you consider skin burns at something like 44 deg C, its not really getting that hot. Especially when you think it's a quad core CPU with no heatsink or ventilation.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Yes i imagined exactly that there would be the processor, of curse is not hot enough to burn but is definitively hot.
My only concern is if in the long term this temperature wont damage the screen or other parts of the phone as for example in my laptop the nvidia video card heated so much that got damaged.
do you have any idea How should be the "normal temperature", is there any app to measure it?
For example does the galaxy 3 gets also hot ?
Sorry for so many questions but im not an expert and i want to be sure i make the right decision
To answer the call question, for me just gets hot as i said when using heavy applications, i would consider just annoying in the case i received a call meantime i played (etc) and the phone was hot but not to the point to say im burning.
Thanks for the previous reply's
Tegra 3 will be shutting down when it reaches about 90_degrees afaik. Don't worry your phone won't die. Only the battery... :-\

Anyone with any update? Its been 5days since I am using p880 and it gets heated up as experienced by other users near LG logo my OS is up to date (v10e)..also I feel battery drain much faster with when heated. Anyone can confirm same?
..cause->effect, not the other way around, and so on.
But generally, a passively cooled device like this /should/ get hot on the outside fairly quickly, instead of containing the heat. On the 4x, it seems like there's a frame on the inside going around the edges that will lead heat there first. Away from the battery, the middle of the screen, that sort of thing.. Ideally that heat would then disperse without ever reaching uncomfortable temperatures. Thought they did pretty well with the 4x. Seen several tablets.. with lower heat signature than a tegra 3 chip.. end up with a few typical spots the heat ends up on the outside (middle of the screen, contact points on sim card, battery, memory card frame, stereo jack.. copper, see?), because the heat is really being contained inside the device much longer than it should.
And then people happily use the device until it breaks. I don't think that's really a problem with the 4x.
I also have this heating problem land looking for a solution. I have p880g (Canadian AWS version) with 10c firmware. It got really hot before I even finished 1 game of The Game of Life. it wasn't skin burning hot, but hot enough to be uncomfortable, similar to a laptop power adaptor. I also think that it was hot enough for the phone to start throttling. The quadrant benchmark I ran while it was hot was lower than the usual.
I don't think that this game is too cpu and gpu intensive that it''ll max out all the LG O4X's hardware. I tried this same game on Motorola defy with cm9 (overclocked to 1ghz) and galaxy tab 10.1 (stock). Both ran it perfectly fine with no heating issues.
I hope someone can help. It makes this phone's Tegra 3 a bit useless if it starts to overheat with less than 15 minutes of playing a game. If this normal and what LG intended, then will likely be my las t LG phone.
Hi guys! I have the same problem - hot phone when I'm plaing some games. My question is: How many percent of battery drain the game for 10 minutes? In my case, for example bad piggies 10 minutes = 10% of battery. I have brightness of display on 0%. So I installed app called PowerTutor (it show you how much energy drain every app) and this app said that bad piggies drain about 600 J for ten minutes.
How about you phone? Thx for answer...
No one answer?
That's ok. All cpu's are active in this game's so heating is normal.

So I have v10H (newer than v10F)...
And I dont think that bad piggies are used all 4 cores, because my friend have only one core and he plays this game smoothly.
When you play this game, prosecutes to charge your phone?

Same in my case when playing games (swing shot, death dome..etc) it gets heated a lot and battery drains like passing minutes...
I played dead trigger with NO wifi,no 2G/3G, no nfc, no bluetooh and less then 50% brightness in 30mins more then 50% battery drained. And this happened with every game I tried.
I bought this tegra3 device only for games but this heating and battery draining is making it pretty useless for game.
Any developer can throw some light please.

well, I`m on v20a official software. With v10h I had the issue of overheating when playing a flashout 3d free game - I dont know how, but thermal protection didnt work. After 5 minutes of play, I felt big heat, so I came back to home screen and at this moment my beautifull-brand-new 4XHD went black screen - no buttons worked, even keeping long pressed power...so I took out battery and re-inserted. After start the screen was shaking like it had low-refresh rate applied...I was terrified. I took out the battery for one hour and after this all went to normal. Then I updated by official LG app the software to v20a and checked that phone gets very hot with this app again, but this time I managed to close and uninstall app without burning my new phone...so I gave it a 1-star rating and a comment in google play. Now I installed some app to monitor temperature inside and I see that with nfs:most wanted after 15 minutes of game, it was at 40 degrees (celsius). I checked with other apps and I see this was max and it felt/feels very hot, though this wasnt so hot like I felt with flashout 3d.
My question to all of you 4x HD users is:
can you tell me your temeperatures? Min/max ?
I mean: I have minimum 26/27 celsius (phone in the pocket), with data, bluetooth, nfc on I had about 30 celsius, and maximum 40 celsius (when playing demanding game). Also I saw big increase in temperature outdoors with bright sunlight(I have automatic brightness on all teh time) and while having data, bluetooth, nfc and GPS on.

[Q] X gets hot while charging? normal?

today is the 4th day with my Moto X...and i'm a little worried about my phone because of my battery issues.
the first day i got my phone, it came with 50% of charge and after some usage it got down to 14% but then, suddenly it dropped to 3%. I have some experience with this issue in my previous android phone, so i just tried a charge cycle and it is pretty much ok now.
BUT THEN
yesterday, my wifi was on and i was charging my phone and it went really hot, according to Antutu Benchmark the temperature was 45.1°C (113.18°F)... i quickly unplugged the phone, and it cooled down within 3 mins..
now today morning,
i made the phone shut down itself by draining its battery, kept on charge, i was not ussing it, only wifi was on and the temprature went 44°C (the charge was around 30-40%).. i left the phone as it is.. and then when the phone charged up to 92% it got better (37°C)
IS THIS ALL NORMAL? DO YOU GUYS FACE THIS?
if not, i'll have to replace this, so please help...
apart from this, i noticed that the device runs for a pretty long time at 1% charge
My phone definitely gets warm when charging. I don't have any apps to tell me the exact temperature, but it doesn't scare me. 45 °C is far below what the electronics can handle, and I wouldn't be concerned, it is well inside normal operating range in my opinion.
My battery is currently 102°f on network surfing the net unplugged. I've seen it as high as 113° and have not had any issues with the battery. I'm still getting 24+ hours between charges.

Batteries naturally degrade over time. That simply speeds up the process slightly (light tasks) or slightly more (gaming). I've done it on all my 7 smartphones (including my first from 2011) and all the stock OEM batteries are working to this day.
I've even gamed heavily (when I enjoyed those things..) on my S2 i9100 and iphone 4s and both those phones get awesome battery life to this day. The S2 was even left on a shelf in the garage over an entire winter lol.
It's just the word damages could misguide people so I wanted to clarify.
But charging temperature can vary between two identical smartphones. My first iphone 5 was rather cool to the touch while charging where as the warranty replacement I got (dust under the lens, they swapped it for a new one) I got tends to be warm and even slightly uncomfortable to hold while using the device moderately and charging at the same time (same charger). It's just variance in manufacturing. No two processors are alike, no two batteries are alike.
thanks for your reply everyone... i guess i'll have to live with it..
maybe i'll just avoid using my phone while charging..
