Hello.
I recently installed CM10.1.3 on my GT-I9000 running stock GB. I did everything according to the instructions (though, mind you, this was not my first time installing a ROM just the first time on this device).
When I booted and tried to set up a CM account it gave me a message saying "Insert SIM card". I tried installing the kernel again, as well as installing other ROMs (AOKP mostly).
Nothing seems to work. It will simply not recognize my SIM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

since its the first time on this device, can you check IF sim card is inserted in the correct direction
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
Yes. It is.
Might be also worth mentioning that I tried it with a few different cards, all of which work with other devices, and not with this one.

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this but it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced. so best to test with Stock ROM to check if its a software or hardware problem. also try to flash without SIM card and insert after flashing and first boot.

For a clean install and root, flash JVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below
FLASHING JVU ROM WITH ODIN v1.85:
1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11.Unplug the Cable to the Phone
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!

But the hardware was functioning perfectly well before I flashed. Why would flashing a ROM damage my SIM contacts? (or any hardware, for that matter)?

In this guide, when I am trying to download the PIT file, it wants me to log in with my google\facebook account. Something about that smells fishy. Are you sure it's reliable enough? Alternatively - could you provide a different download link for the file?

I assume you have a software issue, that's why I asked you to revert to Stock ROM after you confirmed the SIM card was not inserted the wrong way round. , only IF the sock ROM also gave you that result than you need to consider hardware, as I have not heard of anyone having this issue after flashing CM 10.
AS for PIT file its in 4Shared site, all they would require is you should be a member and register with them ( you can do that with any name and password) the ROM site is FileRio, there you should only use free download button , clicked a number of times ( same button) for download to begin, both uploads were by me, so its virus free. I will upload pit file to the thread asap as its very small file.
EDIT: already uploaded PIT File to thread uploaded 3 PIT files in a package used for i9000, only use 512

One more problem, and it's a big one:
Odin won't respond to my device. No yellow rectangle, or any kind of response...
What can I do to make it realize that it's there?

the guide to solve such problems is right on top (begining) of that thread
Note:- It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable . If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu>Developer options> tick USB Debugging. After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )
If unable to connect your phone to PC for any reason, refer to this guide

I tried everything in that guide, and it still the same.
Might be worth noting that the computer totally does recognize the device. I mean, I can access the internal SD from the computer, when the phone is on. It's just that when I connect it in download mode, Odin doesn't respond.
Might also be worth to stress that I used Heimdall to flash the recovery, when I did it. Could it be related to why I can't use Odin now?
And another thing regarding my main issue - could the "Insert SIM" message be a modem thing?
The password for XXJVU is samfirmware.com
If you are still unable to open this, then download XXJVU by Google searching and then try. This is the best way to get rid of the problem.
If you are able to go to download mode, install USB drivers for Samsung and restart PC . Now exit the Kies program and its related services from your PC. If you are using windows, you may find the tray icon and exit by right clicking. Now run Odin and flash.
If you are not able to go to download mode then search "homemade usb jig" and use the jig method described in those threads.
I'm trying to download the XXJVU again. Will see how goes.
I am able to go to download mode. So that's not it. I also don't have Kies installed on my computer, so that's also not it. I installed a few different Samsung drivers, and did the whole process a few times. The computer always recognizes the phone, but Odin doesn't.
I don't get why I can't delete stuff, if I accidentally posted twice. Anyway - feel free to disregard this one. Sorry for spamming..
OK. Managed to open the XXJVU.
Still have the problem with Odin not paying attention to my phone being there. Do you think it might be a problem with dl mode, that I should try fix with a jig (the phone does act LIKE it in dl mode - yellow triangle and all...)?

You seem to be having strange problems. I assume you pressed the correct combo keys ( as shown in image on that thread) and you did not get download mode ( this could be due to ) you don't have an i9000 but a different version of Galaxy S? or your keys are not functioning or you have a wrong bootloader
so use this methods & tool from PC to boot into download mode after you are sure you have an i9000 international version by checking under the battery. just to give you an idea , read this
Odin will only connect when phone is in Download mode, so as you mentioned you have NO problem with drivers and PC, its only your phone not being able to enter download mode.

I will try the ADB solution tomorrow. But doesn't the fact that the phone displays the download mode screen say that it is indeed in that mode? (because it does display it, as I mentioned above). I mean - is it possible that the phone seems like it is in download mode, when it's actually not?
Thanks!

hmm, i got the impression that you are not getting the download mode display , if it does than it is in download mode, so now you need to check your Odin3 download, what version are you using , try and download again and always use fresh Odin3, meaning, if it had a problem or even when no problem restart it a fresh. And best install Samsung USB drivers again ( link on that thread), if that did not solve it.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
I tried both versions that from here (i.e. v1.83 and v1.85). I'm not really doing anything else with Odin, so there's nothing to restart.
I also tried uninstalling and installing the drivers a few times, using a few different installation files, and by letting windows figure out on its own which drivers to install.
Non of it changed the result.

Hi, guys.
Yesterday I tried to do something with the data in the EFS folder, it seems that I had a problem and unknowingly restart the terminal and suddenly when trying to start (and since) instead of the common logo of SGS3 mini GT-i8190 and background and letters in white, appears to me the first image; So when you try to start normally, like when I try to enter recovery mode (had installed TWRP) and when I connect it (off) the USB or charger.
All I can do (thankfully, but not as far as right now), I can enter download mode; but I can not flash anything because when I connect it to ODIN on windows, and try to flash ROMs or TWRP, it appears to me the second image.
I used the PIT file for my model (GT-i8190) and the option to Re-Partition in Odin but ODIN several minutes remains unanswered and at the end of the process I throws FAIL showing me what the third picture, not get proceed. Maybe I'm using a PIT file does not match my phone, it's weird.
Also attached file them as file ". pit" I use to try to repartition.
Please do not say it can be my USB cable or USB port PC or mobile, I know you are well.
What can I do?, Please, I need help!!!

Hmm ... try to flash the pit file with a other Odin version. If it also give you a FAIL message then you can only send your phone back to Samsung center for repair it.

I have tried to flash twrp, Stock Obin, and so on. My issues are this.
First, then phone boot loops and says " Custom Binary blocked by FAP Lock,
Go to flash a Stock file in Obin it errors out with SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE: 3 Binary: 2
When trying to Flash Twrp I get in green " Custom Binary(Recovery) Blocked by FAP LOCK "
I know the phone was supposed to be put int OEM Unlock but the phone was brought to me by a customer. Any way to get this phone to work once more?

You are correct, you needed to enable developer options in settings and then turn on OEM unlocking as well as USB debugging.
You can download Samsung Kies software and restore the phone to original firmware by entering model and s/n. Once you've restored the phone, enable those aforementioned items and start over.

How would i get Kies to see the phone? right now all i can do is get into download. Plus, i don't have the serial, no idea on how to get it when the phone is in a boot loop and can only get into Download Mode.
You'll need to be booted into Download mode to use Kies. I've done it at least half a dozen times on 4 different devices.

Hi,
my Note 9 started having some signal issues on 3G and LTE network since Android 10 and I wanted to solve this problem by installing an Android Pie firmware but it didn't work, so I've decided to install a custom ROM from Dr.Ketan and I was following the instructions from a YT video and I think I've mistaken something, because after installing/flashing (I don't know the right word for this) that CP and BL files is Odin it started to reboot but can't and displayed this error when it tried to turn on: kernel rev check fail device 6 binary 5 . I have the stock Android 10 firmware from SAMMOBILE but I can't install it because I can't get to the download mode because as I wrote I can't turn on the phone because of the mentioned error.
So my question is what should I do to fix this problem? If there isn't any solutions for this problem I'll take it to a service but if there is a solution I'll try to fix it for myself.

No, I can't.
You probably was trying to odin earlier version of bootloader over a new one.
Find the latest firmware for your phone in sammobile. Extract BL and flash again.
Even when you turn on the phone and there is whatever error shown just flash it with odin. That should work normally. Or you can flash the whole firmware if you want.
try holding vol down+bixby button and plug in your usb cable to computer ?

I want to update my SM-N960U to latest firmware for T-Mobile. It is unlocked phone with N960USQU1CSA7, Android 9 and One UI 1.0. T-Mobile does not make updated FW available for it- so I'm assuming I need to do it myself.

If someone could point me to the proper place that would be great. I searched but haven't found a detailed way to do it.

Www.sammobile.com/firmware section look for TMB (T-Mobile)
Or
Download samfirm.exe or frija program from xda (use the search function) to download latest t-mobile firmware. (Fastest download)
Keywords : Model: SM-N960U
Region: TMB
Download Odin (can be found in www.sammobile.com in firmware section).
Flash with Odin manually.
Or
Use Samsung smart switch to update phone.
Search YouTube on how to use Odin and frija or samfirm.exe for more info.
Thanks so much !?

Hi- I tried updating the firmware with Odin3-v3.14.4 but I get the following:
.
.
<ID:0/006> Can't open the serial(COM) port
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I have latest Samsung USB drivers (1.7.23.0) on my laptop. I tried 2 different USB cables and both USB ports. I'm trying to install the latest firmware N960USQS5ETH2_N960UOYN5ETH2_TMB.

Goto settings/developers option and turn on usb debugging mode.
Make sure your usb ports are usb 2 or lower version.
Make sure you have any antivirus program turned off or enable the port . Disable Samsung smart switch if installed.
Make sure your phone is in download mode, then have Odin running as administrator privilege (right click and run as administrator) then plug in phone and wait till you see com (device) added.
Make sure windows can recognize the phone when plugged in (can you browse folders on phone through windows explorer? ) if not redownload the Samsung usb drivers again and reinstall it.
Hi- I could not get it to work on my laptop which has USB 3.1 ports. I did get it to work on an older laptop.
A couple of questions- in Odin for the CSC file should I use the HOME_CSC file or the CSC file. What is the difference?
Also, in the firmware file there is a USERDATA_TMB file. Should i include this in Odin?
Finally- before doing the update I used the Smart Switch program to back up the data and apps on the phone and SD card. After I finish updating the phone with Odin can I use Smart Switch to put the data and apps back on the phone?
Thanks again,
Kirk
because you make a update from telekom to telekom, you can use HOME_CSC, it makes no factory reset,
because you make a update from Android 9 to Android 10 its better to use the normal CSC, it makes a factory reset,
because you update vom telekom to DBT you have to use the normal CSC ( not HOME )
