I'll admit that I don't use group messages or MMS (just regular text messages), so this one has me baffled.
I can send and receive regular individual text messages just fine. No problems there.
However, my supervisor, who is using an iPhone, sends out group text messages. Those come to me as 1K MMS messages (with a "Download" button in GoSMS Pro, or a "Downloading..." icon in stock Messaging). When I click on the "Download" icon in GoSMS Pro, it just sits and spins ad infinitum, and never turns into a message.
How do I get incoming group text messages to display properly?
Is this an APN issue, a messaging client issue, or a system setting issue?
Thanks in advance.
When trying to send a text (SMS) using voice, after dictating the message and saying send it says 'sending message' and then 'message sent' but it never does, if you open the messaging app the text is not there, is anyone else having this problem?
Sending an email works fine, along with getting directions only the messaging (SMS) doesn't seem to work.
I wonder if it is because it is a dual SIM, although I have SIM2 turned off and it set to send via SIM1 as default but it also doesn't work if I change the settings or if I change the default SMS app to Hangouts.
Does anyone else's work?
Got my Nexus 6 today. I'm on T-Mobile. I set my hangouts to be my default sms app. No matter who I send a text to, it says error message not sent. If I send a normal hangout message to another hangout user its fine. Is their a known issue with hangouts and 5.0 or something?
Same issues here. I am trying everything. Had issues since day 1, but haven't had time to look into it. Sprint Nexus 6 here.

I do know there was an update for the regular messenger app. Not sure if that's the problem or not but worth a check.
I switched carrier settings from lte to global and all my mms messages just flooded in at once. I can now send pic and group mms in hangouts and still have the same lte signal. Hopefully this solves your issue!
Just following up, my issues returned while i was out last night. I switched to 3g and again received a flood of incoming mms. Its frustrating to say the least.
I have a T Mobile Nexus 6. I've been using Textra for SMS and Hangouts for, well, hangouts. Now that Textra wants me to pay or else they'll start showing me ads, I want to use Hangouts exclusively. When I set Hangouts as my default SMS app, everything merges correctly. I have a group text thread that when I send a message to, it shows up as sending 8 times, once to each recipient. However, when I receive replies, they come in separately, making it impossible to follow the thread of the conversation.
Any ideas?
i use the google messanger app for texting, im on tmobile, and group texts work fine.
Make sure under the sms settings in hangouts that group messages are being sent as MMS. I believe this is turned off by default.

In hangouts settings, under SMS>advanced, do you have "Group messaging" box ticked? Also, "Enable merged conversations"?
I don't have a "Group Messaging" box. Here's a screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/x5cr5ka.png
I've double-checked my APN settings, I feel like I may be missing something very obvious, as I know I used to use group messaging with Hangouts with no problem, before I started using textra.

Ok, I think I figured it out. For some reason, my phone couldn't read my phone number from the sim card. If i went into my phone settings, under "my number" it said "unknown". I called Tmobile, they sent an update to my phone. Rebooted, went into settings, my number was there, and when I went back to my Hangouts settings, the "group mms" setting was now there, checked, and I think that'll do the trick.
Not sure why I can't receive messages. Im using Android Messages and I'm able to send out messages but don't seem to be receiving them? (Sms) I'm in Verizon. I have the Chinese version. Im able to send out calls and receive them too, but I'm not receiving messages. Any help?
Make sure chat features are turned off on the last phone you used.
allow all permissions for the app and the app set as default
